Dr. Keller did cataract surgery on both of my eyes. It was fantastic to be able to drive without glasses. What a miracle. My husband has macular degeneration & Dr. Keller is keeping an eye on him. We have recommended Dr. Keller to many friends & family.

Since 2004 I have been to Boulder Eye Surgeons. I had bletharoplasty done with them and, since I have glaucoma in the family, BES has kept an eye on pressures and vision field. The physicians and staff have always been professional, helpful, and friendly. Dr. Keller prescribes the latest and greatest eye allergy meds, without which I could not survive. I am happy with and thankful for BES.

I had a horrible experience that I would like to share. Our primary doctor gave us a referral for an eye exam, assuming that this was going to be cover by our insurance Anthem as part of the yearly check up. When we arrived at their office Boulder Eye Surgeons, we asked the receptions if she could make sure that this appointment was going to be covered by our insurance. She called and confirmed that it was going to be. We then later received a bill for close to $400.00 dollars for an eye exam and of course nothing was covered by our insurance. Now, we are stuck with a bill for $400 dollars and of course the doctors at the Boulder Eye Surgeons do not care, even their receptions confirmed that it was going to be covered. I believe this was their mistake as well but they were not willing to provide us with a discount. If this was not covered why would I spend $400.00 dollars on an eye exam? I have been battle with this charge for over a year. Sadly I need to waste $400.00 dollars if not they will send it to collections.
Dr. Keller performed cataract operations on both eyes a few years ago and also discovered I had glaucoma. Since that time he and his staff have treated me with professionalism and courtesy. My condition has been kept under control and I would recommend him to all my friends and acquaintances.
I've depended on Boulder Eye Surgeons and Dr. Don Keller for six years -- for everything from routine eye check-ups to treatment for glaucoma to cataract surgery. Don Keller is fabulous. So are all the techs who see you before he does, check your vision, and make notes on any issues. I'm now in my 70's and have been seen by opthamologists in several cities, including Boston, where the doctors are among the best in the world. I've never experienced anything on as high a level as Boulder Eye Surgeons.

Dr. Cuevas was recommended by my PCP, and he performed laser-assisted cataract surgery on my left eye. Dr. Cuevas has extensive experience in cataract surgery, and he explained the details, and put me at ease. The procedure went smoothly and comfortably, and I can now see 20/20 out of that eye. I have the added complication of wet macular degeneration in both eyes, and the vision in my right eye is compromised, so seeing well out of my left eye is very important to me. I am very pleased with the results. Additionally, the personnel in both the office and the surgery center are competent, caring and well-informed. My wife will be needing cataract surgery in both eyes shortly, and she will certainly be going to Dr. Cuevas.

Dr Keller was referred to me a few years after my liver transplant and I have seen him annually since. Over the 20+ years, Dr Keller checks my eyesight and tracks my problems with care and professionalism. I have trusted him and followed his advice and suggestions. This year, I developed a problem on a holiday weekend and my daughter (a radiologist) suggested I see Dr Keller immediately. The following morning, a Federal holiday, I called the office and was given an appointment. I did have to wait and Dr Keller was not able to see me but Dr Gustave did. He carefully investigated my vision issue and diagnosed it, suggested treatment and scheduled a follow-up appointment. Dr Gustave carefully and thoroughly explained the problem: I left feeling cared for.

During a visit for pre-cataract surgery, Cathy was the provider that took all of the measurements required for Dr. Nichols. In the Covid-19 environment of healthcare today,she was superb in maintaining a safe evaluation with kindness and a thorough explanation. When she was through Dr. Nichols evaluated the data collected and we reached a cataract removal therapy together. If I had 4 thumbs they would all be up, but since I have only two that will have to do.
My first cataract replacement (2013) led by a circuitous path to the discovery of Coronary Artery Disease and a life-saving bypass operation. So in a way it saved my life. Dr. Nichols and staff were very helpful and concerned throughout and both replacement operations were successful and gave me back wonderful vision.
These guys are really great. They gave me a comprehensive exam and fully explained the results and what I would be looking at going forward. Very friendly folks too. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

We were lucky to have found Dr. Keller at the height of his professional experience. After years of practice we trusted him completely with the several procedures that he performed on us. They all had excellent results. He is also young enough not to retire in the near future, leaving us without his care. This has happened to us before. I usually have a great experience at Boulder Eye Surgeons. Yesterday was different because they were late getting to me for my 9:00 am appointment. I made the earliest appointment I could because I had to be in Denver for another appointment. After waiting 10 minutes while they took everyone else in the waiting room, I explained my situation and was told that they were just waiting for a room to be open. After I asked again 25 minutes later they said they were ready for me. But the tech was busy talking to a colleague. The tech was not very friendly and one of my usual tests wasn't done. Previously, the techs have been awesome. Dr. Cuevas explained the results of the tests thoroughly. I am hopeful that this was just a day when the 9:00 am appointments were overbooked and it won't happen in the future.
I had a very professional eye exam, the Dr. answered all of my questions. The office has some new exam equipment and I really felt it was the most thorough eye exam I have had to date.

I had cataract surgery in early December, one week apart. Just went in for my "graduation" appointment. Couldn't be more pleased. As someone with astigmatism, my vision hasn't been crisp as long as I can remember. After my surgeries, I was amazed at how clear my vision was now. My goal was never to not have to wear glasses - just to have as crisp and sharp vision as possible. Now, with the help of "cheaters" for computer and phone use, I am able to see better than I ever remember.

If it were not for my disappointment with one of my cataract surgeries, I would rate Boulder Eye Surgeons as a five star office. Their practice has excellent customer service, and I am treated with respect and not like a baby (seems to accompany one as we age). The only reason this is not a FIVE star rating, is because I am not completely happy with one of my two cataract surgeries. Best eye doctor i have ever had! Dr brian nichols and his assistant kathy are amazing. I am 22 years old and I have convergience insufficiency (for those who dont know what that is, its a weakness in the eye muscles, makes words float off the page and move, and see double, kind of like credits on a 3D movie with out the glasses), and was once a severe case (saw double of everything upclose, notnjust words off paper and screens) until after i saw brian. All my life i had a hard time reading, doing certain things at work, read out loud very well, etc and was passed from one doctor to another after just a couple visits because they either didnt want to deal with what i had or they had no idea how to help me since i was 13 and not a single one could diagnose me, they all said glasses and/or dyslexia. One of thpse doctors recommended me to dr brian nichols. For years brian and kathy tried everything (And mine was more severe then other cases), None of the excersizes or anything worked (pencil push-ups, computer excersizes, a patch, different types of prisim glasses, even wearing them every day for months) and he and kathy never gave up. Finally brian and I agreed to do a surgery in my left eye. And after i had the surgery on my left eye back in febuary 2017, my life has turned around. I can read, do computer work, finally do box office and registers at my job, etc, its like i am seeing a whole new world. Brian and kathy were the only doctors who never gave up on me. And i am forever gratefull! I still have it but its easy to controll now, at first i was never able to. Brian, kathy, and all the staff are amazing there. I would reccomend them to anyone, because if it wasnt for brian, kathy and the rest of the staff, i wouldnt be where i am now!

I had cataract surgery there about a year ago. Several years prior to that, I had CK and LASIK procedures done for vision correction. This can sometimes make it difficult to determine the correct prescription for the lenses to be used to replace the ones removed. They have the very latest equipment to determine the prescription as closely as possible and I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes. My optometrist that I use regularly said that, "it was really great work" after examining my eyes. Needless to say, I am very happy with the outcome and do not hesitate to recommend this office to anyone.
I have only used Boulder Eye Surgeons (Dr. Nichols) for a few years now, but only have good things to say about the experience. The staff who did the initial measurements and tests were friendly and constantly kept me informed about what they were doing and why. Similarly with Dr. Nichols - he gave me a thorough review of the tests and their results. Wait times have in my short experience not been bad, but the parking stinks (hospital issue, not the clinic!).

My daughter had a pediatric appointment with Dr. Nichols. We went to him for a second opinion after being brushed off by a previous ophthalmologist who thought there was nothing wrong with her eyes, even though they were clearly crossing! Dr. Nichols correctly diagnosed her so her vision will be corrected now and not risk loss of vision in the eye that crosses, which can happen in toddlers. I wish we'd seen Dr. Nichols first instead of going to Children's, but happy that she's in good care now.

This is my first time using Boulder Eye Surgeons. I recently had a pre-op appointment for a couple of upcoming cataract surgeries. Dr. Keller and his staff have been fantastic! I always do a lot of my own research prior to any big procedure, so after my appointment I found I had several questions regarding my particular situation and which IOL would be best. I emailed my specific questions to give to Dr. Keller and he called me and patiently gave me his reasoning for how he does each facet of measuring and IOL placement. I was impressed with his knowledge and with how gracious he was about giving me very extensive reasoning for how he does his cataract surgeries. I couldn't be more impressed. I now am not fearful of my upcoming surgeries.
We have had two very positive experiences with Boulder Eye Surgeons, neither having to do with surgery. First, my wife had been having troubles falling while hiking. We had seen many and various specialists to address the problem. Our internist suggested Boulder Eye Surgeons. After about a thirty minute exam, they said that they thought they knew what the problem was. My wife had cataract surgery and had gotten one close up and one distance lens. They suggested that was the problem because it meant she couldn't see the ground on her "near vision" eye. A pair of glasses to wear while hiking gave her 20-20 vision in both eyes and solved the problem.
I had been having a problem with double vision for 4-5 years which affected my tennis significantly. I had also been to many sources, including CU Denver, for help. None had any ideas. Boulder Eye Surgeons suggested that I wear contacts that corrected my vision to 20-20 and see if my eyes could solve the problem. I did and it did. It's not 100% but my tennis is dramatically better.
Both were practical, diagnostic approaches. Boulder Eye Surgeons are our heroes.
