The location is good!

The location is good!
One of the cheapest accommodation you can find in NY. With excellent treatment in perfect Spanish (a large part of the staff is Hispanic). Although you will see guests of any age it is undoubtedly fantastic to socialize and meet people since every day an event is organized to which anyone can sign up. Ah! And next to the subway.
Very good location, friendly staff and affordable prices.
They have their own tours in hostel, so if you don't have any plans in NY you can just join them.
Really great Hostel! Highly recommend. (be aware for a long line to check-in)
The lack of a bar and the place being so big make getting to know people a little more difficult than in other hostels. Sign up for the tours and pub crawl to bridge that gap!
It's a very nice hostel in a good location and they offer a lot of activities for the guests. I'd stay here again.
Great place for those who have in mind the desire to know New York during the day and make new friends when you get back to the hostel!
Good cleaning and order in the rooms.
Very kind staff.
Expensive for a hostel. Very basic rooms, low water pressure while showering. Felt like water was dripping in me slowly. Checkout befor 11am which is normal but when your flight departs in the evening you can t leave your suitcase and other stuff at the reception for free, need to pay 5$. Before checking in you can leave it there for free. No curtesy at all. Talked to a lady working there, she said the job and the hostel isnt good at all. Can t bring alcoholic beverages inside, can t purchase them there. The stuff would push you in from the backyard at 1 am because it s too late. Felt like in a foster care. Strange. Toilets mostly dirty.
More of half way house for losers trying to make it in NYC, and for loud and abnoxious school groups than actual travellers. You will struggle to sleep well : mattress haven't been replaced or turned in years, you can't find anywhere peaceful to relax, the kitchen is terribibly outdated with not enough fridge space for everyone to stow there food, so it will be either stolen, squashed or lost. Only a couple of good showers, rest are terrible. Residents bring that ridiculous New York arrogance into the hostel and it's quite miserable staying here amongst wannabes and school kids. Treat yourself to a decent Airbnb
It was a nice place
Thanks
Its a great place to stay at. They make a lot of activities for guests like city tours, comedy club etc.
Superb hotel with 1 staff at the top. Very good stay partly thanks to their welcome and smile.
The best hostel. No more coments.
You have to know it!
If you're planning to hostel stay in NY then this is the place to stay. Everyone was friendly and approachable, the property itself neat and tidy with clean amenities. There were activities organised by the hostel everyday which were very enjoyable and I met a lot of great people. The cafe which is open very long hours was also a huge hit and had a large array of options!!
Was here in 2013, very nice hostel, the first one I ve ever visited! Was a great way to experience New York! Wish I would have spent more time taking in everything. I can t wait to go back.
Everything was good but I had an unpleasant experience at the cafe inside the hostel. One male clerk working in the cafe picked up a 5 cent coin from my hand while I was spending time in seeking a 5 cent coin in my hand for payment since I'm not familiar with US coins. Good manners are not optional especially at a place where international people stay.
Great place for an affordable price! Wish I could give it more stars. I stayed here for a couple of days and I wish I had stayed here for the whole of my trip to NYC. The restrooms are really clean (and abundant!). The place is very well maintained and classy enough. Plus there's a LOT of different places (including a garden outside) around the lobby where you can sit and work with charging outlets beside (because the beds at the dorm may not be spacious enough to allow you to sit). The staff are very polite too, and you can get your money refunded if you let them know that you're leaving 24 hours in advance (my plans changed and I had to leave mid-way). I'm going to stay here the next time I visit NYC or Columbia! :-)
Recommend it:
+good location
+good price
+clean
-Breakfast
It is probably the best hostel were I have ever been. Every bed is equipped with multiple electric plugs as well as the locker. Bathrooms were always clean. It offers a wide variety of events were it's easy to meet new people and have a lot of fun. It's not that close to the dowton but the subway is very close to the hostel and can take you everywhere quickly.
Best way to stay in newyork if you are there to travel and dont want to spend to much money on luxury hotel, still you get all the facility you would get in hotels, washrooms and rooms are really clean. Overall happy that I stayed there and would go there again.
Great breakfast, nice showers and kitchen. Friendly staff and really nice infrastructure in general.
Stayed here twice, best place to stay if you are on budget but still want a bite of the big Apple. They have some great activities that you can participate, really helpful staff.
Great location, friendly staff and people, clean bathrooms. Everything I was looking for.
Nice place to stay for a couple of days in NYC. The other guests are really respectful and the installations are fine. Near metro stations and good connections to the rest of Manhattan and other boroughs.
Love this place and the amazing people I always meet there. Pub Crawls are always fun
The place, the comforts and the attention of the attention staff
I can stay between $ 35 and $ 60 a day and it's probably one of the best hostels in Manhattan for the price. It is also very close to the subway. We can eat for 5 dollars in the morning, but there are too many Korean standard amounts, so it is enough to have one for both.
Really convenient location. Clean hostel and bathrooms.
Well located, best price, awesome service and comfortable beds.
It's a great hostel with a location. The building was clean and the bathroom was hygienic. There is also a cafe. It is very convenient because there are various shops around. Hostel International members receive a discount on accommodation fees by presenting their membership card upon check-in after HI reservation. However, many staff do not know that. Members must receive a discount !! There is no free breakfast service. The kitchen is large but there is no spice available for free. Please be careful if you are concerned about your private space as the beds are not completely separated. Credit cards are only available for VISA and MASTER.
Location is great, the beds were a little uncomfortably to sleep on
Very good place, it is gigantic which helps you to meet people who come from all over the world, mainly Europeans, the staff is very friendly and they solve your doubts, the bedrooms are comfortable and the bathrooms clean
My son and I like the environment, and seeing people from other countries
I would have personally liked it if housekeeping had included some indoor air freshener and/or purification.
Clean and convenient place to stay. The staff is very friendly.
Great place if you're looking for a cheap place to sleep. They plan a couple of night with the opportunity to know new people you can not stay alone
Very good hostel It has nearby metro station. Walking tour at an affordable price. I played in the same room as a very rude Spanish but that is lucky and true. For the rest, I highly recommend.
Not one but two almost violent encounters with drunk belligerent guests at the property in my one night there. Will NEVER stay there again.
A little pricey compared to other hostels, but it's definitely worth it. Good location, nice spaces, clean rooms, courteous staff
The structure of the Hostel is great. The staff is very helpful and the cleaning adequate. I had a problem during my stay: I spent 6 nights there and none of the nights the hostel had hot water. It was reported that the problem would be solved soon, but every night I stayed there was no hot water. The location is also good.
Very friendly staff, clean & all facilities are available.A very nice place to stay. Thank you very much for your service.Hope to visit again.
Very clean, organized and super friendly. I just love this place!
There are always people coming in and sleeping, not very good. It s like doing a sleeper train
But you can meet interesting people
I usually don t stay in hostels, I thinks is was my second time. But this was a last minute trip and the price look good. The place is very clean and friendly with a lot of common places to really enjoy the time, cook eat and work. They have a great caffe shop. And lot of activities. They just a few block away from Central Park. On Train 1 that almost take you any way and B just a few block away. I will definitely stay here again.
Nice and clean and cheap . But in room no. 318 (mixed room) on bed C&D two male were occupying. Required to be restrained in future.
Bedbugs in abundance and cockroaches in the rooms, hallways and toilets. The staff who makes fun of us lean our many bites. Rave about seeing the video. After several tries a woman of horrified reception seeing the video of the insects sends us an intervention team. Team who also makes fun of us and refuses to change all the sheets. A very slow elevator, better take the stairs. And of course the 4th floor smells very bad as well as the rooms. In short, a very bad experience in an unhealthy place and with inhuman personnel
The HI hostel is hands down... BEST in NYC ... OF The 5 or have stayed in. Really not far (taje red line 1-2-3 to 103! Its clean... Gorgeous courtyard iutdoor area. Many activities to meet new friend's!!! Cant beat the price
Good solid hostel close to Central Park and public transit. The nearby food and drink scene is good as well.
Nice atmosphere, cheap and beds were decently comfortable.
Too big, everybody's online and starring on displays. I found it was hard to socialise at this place, so I will def stay in a smaller place even though I like HIs in general. Also money got stolen, probably one of my room mates took it while I was having a shower. When I reported it to the receptionist she didnt seem to be shocked. The facilities are ok, but nobody says even Hello to each other, no matter if in the rooms, in the kitchen, the lounge. The staff isnt friendly either, so that's New York, obviously.
Awesome experience. Very clean facility and rooms. The bunk beds we're typical, but your personal space was sufficient and there are good lockers. They have social hours in the lobby and plenty of organized adventures to get a view of NYC from the locals perspective. And the cafe downstairs is pretty amazing and being that it's right in the city, it is very economical to get your morning fill up and grab some waters and snacks for the day
Absolutely a great value for money. Good ammednities.
Was a nice frandly experience nice room not too far from the subway veary nice environment
Nice rooms and a pretty decent food place near the lobby.
Great accommodation at a reasonable price in Manhattan
The hostel is great! Good location and infrastructure. The coffee maker leaves something to be desired. However I made a reservation for two people in a shared room. For me this makes it clear that they should stay in the same room. Otherwise I would make the reservations separately. The hostel put us in separate rooms and did not want to change. This had never happened to me. Disappointed.
I stayed there for almost a month in August 2014 just loved the place and it's location !!
Pretty good experience so far with the exceptions of a few things. 1 the heater from my room keeps going out and 2 my card stops working to get into the room had to get a replacement 3 times so far and im on day 3 of my trip 10 days to go. Lots of bathrooms and showers. But the only downfall there's no kitchen. For you to use like other hostels and only 1 elevator for like about 1,000 people. It gets very irritating having to wait the 5-10 minutes to go down or up and if your like me that can't use the stairs that can be such a hassle.
The cafe is really good and super inexpensive, good subway routes, and bus stops too.
Perfect. The only thing that I do not like is that, having its own cafeteria, it does not have a sad microwave for the use of the guests
Best safe and affordable option for solo traveller in NYC.
Plenty of activities on offer.
Clean shower n toilet.
Though i shared my room with 7 other ladies i still felt i have my own space. People are very respectful n considerate.
Bring your own padlock for locker provided in the room
Towels provided which is awesome!
24/7 desk was a great find after getting a flight cancelled. The staff was great and made it very easy. The beds are comfortable and the whole place is quite clean.
