Amazing place to rest, make friends from all over the world and learn something new every day!
This hostel has good beds and a very good breakfast with a wide selection. It is not unlimited but that probably is not necessary. The kitchen is huge and there is a large outdoor patio and a TV lounge. They organise lots of activities for guests to take part in which is nice.
Great vibe! Location is also good. Would have been better if the mattress is more sturdy.
It was not the best experience, but it is good to spend the day in New York, shared rooms with 12 beds per room ... The best bathrooms ...
Excellent Hostel, the best there is in New York City.
100% recommendable
It is clean and comfortable. It is easy to locate and the staff are very friendly.
Located near metro access. The hostel is quite complete.
Clean, quiet, air conditioning works fine. People are nice and there is enough room for everyone. Especially loved the bunk lights and charging ports, real utility if you consider other cheap options.
Bang in the middle of upper west side. Right next to subway station and central park. Location, cheap, clean and charging ports next to the bed. The three things a nomad needs
Nice beds, clean bathrooms, great people. Highly recommend!
Visiting NYC and alone.. then this is the place to stay. It s budget friendly and located in very prominent location.
Beautiful hostel, very good facilities, but quite expensive comparing with hostels of the same category in companies cities
This place saved me from a long, cold night when NYC was hit by a snowstorm. The resulting slushocalypse paralyzed the city and every hotel room filled immediately. After hours of seaching for a place to stay, with gridlock everywhere even at midnight, a helpful agent at Booking.com found this place. At 1 AM I was greeted by a friendly face and given a comfortable bunk bed in a 6 bed dorm room, otherwise empty. The bathroom was clean, the place quiet, and in the morning a hearty breakfast was served to an international group of young and middle aged folks from all over the world. Having not stayed in a hostel for 40 years, this was a fun adventure, and inexpensive! Thank you, H.I.!
103th Amsterdam ave. Manhattan new York, I was visiting a friend that works there. I love the lobby it's really nice if I ever need to stay on a hotel I definitely stay at hostelling international it no doubt about it.
Very good hostel
Very clean
Nice services
The social life there is sucks
Regularly stay here. Clean and friendly with great food bar.
The team and awesome, the atmosphere and very simpatic.
I have a roadside room and I can not hear anything
Great facilities and events run by the hostel. The location is really convenient as it is really close to a subway station and only a few minutes walk from Central Park.
It was totally good but a little bit cold. I should wear my coat on while sleeping.
The food in cafeteria is so good and reasonable.
Best place to stay... With affordable prices and a great location.. being just behind Central park. I had an amazing experience here.. you'll get to interact with people from different places.
I'm in love with Hi Hostel. Clean, cheap and beautiful. I hope to back.
I was hosted in 2001, shortly before the attack, and the atmosphere was very peaceful and friendship. The hostel offers for all places and still had a tourism agency for those who were willing to visit other city. Always looking for cheap tickets for you. I recommend.
The old building is beautiful, has everything you need. The kitchen is huge, as is the beautiful patio, and the rest rooms. It is one block away from metro 1, which leaves you close to everything. The problem was the bathrooms and showers, whenever I used them they were dirty (lack of cleaning but also of hygiene of the users). Spacious rooms with air conditioning, had extra blankets to use. You fall in love at first sight.
Conveniently located near the 1 subway that connects to some of the major sights. Also walking distance from Central park where you can also hop on another subway line.
The hostel is clean and well organised with organised activities like city tours and pub crawls free of charge or at a modest fee. They also have a comedy club in the basement.
A better choice for single travellers. Makes it easy to find buddies to hang out with
Great hostel, a little far from City area and attractions but not expensive in a taxi or on the underground. Clean and friendly place
Really good hostel. Social, comfortable and private.
The hostel have no ventilation and smalls like socks. disgusting and terrible
Better to find a cheap hotel chip Airbnb or just other one!! I'm here right now!
Very good hotel near Columbia university, amazing view from the top floor
Great place to stay. They do not sell beer, which can be bought in the shops across the street.
Clean, affordable, easy and in the heart of Manhattan. Great reception from the front desk (Shout out to Esther) and check-in was under 5 minutes.
Hard to beat except when there is bad company. 11:30 p.m. on a Monday night and there are guests banging on doors, yelling down the halls and being belligerent. Not the hostel's fault that people forget how to act when they are in public. But, serves as a reminder why I pay a little more for a hotel or AirBnB.
The location is very good, very close to the subway, next to a Fuzhou restaurant, good quality and cheap. However, the amount of shower water is too small, the air conditioning is too noisy
Great hostel, modern inside. everything is strict, everything is decorous. calm manhattan
Very well cared for and great area and all forms of transportation are only steps away

Decent, staff are very helpful too so even if some of the people in your room are difficult to deal with it's fairly easy to be reassigned :)
The food is amazing, the people are friendly, it is so convenient to travel by bus or train. The place is clean, clean, clean. I am in home away from home heaven. I highly recommend the New City Hostel!
Great for exchanging experiences with people from all over the world, clean bathrooms with heated rooms, communal kitchen but ample, a deli with lots of delights, close to the red line subway station near central park, a good starting point for exploring Manhattan
They have a kitchen equipped with, refrigerator, where you can cook whatever you want. They have many events (tours) too so you can get to know the city of New York. Of course you do not have your own room but what you pay for is fine. All clean.
Great place to stay to a couple of days. Good showers, staff, kitchen and coffee place. Next to the subway station that leads you to all places in Manhattan. Next to uptown Central Park. Been there twice and looking for coming back!
Nice atmosphere, the hotel and the attention very good.
If you are on a tight budget and want a clean, safe place stay in this hostel. It is very clean and economical. Also you get to meet people from different countries .... great place
The reception system for the overall guest is good, and the staff is friendly.
However, it was an old building and the dormitory room did not have enough ventilation. It is not enough to fail. It is easy to move to the facility at this price and will be available again next time
The hostel is clean and amazingly located for local transportation! The staff were helpful and willing to give advice and pointers on where to go and eat or to go have a few drinks!
If you like cold showers, this is the place for you! If you like party noise till 3am (when they claim quiet hours are 11pm) then stay here! If you like ACs that won't turn back on and then a staff crew that begrudgingly comes to help, stay here! I know this isn't a 5 star hotel (it's a hostel) but seriously our room got to 78 degrees... and it was 78 degrees outside, and the staff member was so rude when asked to help. I've stayed in 5 HI Hostels, and this on was by far THE WORST! Oh, they also claim free breakfast, but what they don't tell you (or at least not well enough) is that you have to stay in a premium room to get one... free breakfast was the whole reason I wanted to stay here. Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else... ESPECIALLY if you're American. They don't like us because we speak up when stuff is cr*p! Seriously, the foreigners in my room literally thought that hostel just didn't have AC, which is why they were probably mad when someone finally said something!
Rather good, too bad that the hot water was down the last day of the stay ...
Great location, close to Central Park and the subway. A lot of good communal spaces to hang out and meet fellow travelers. It was a nice clean room, I was right by the AC so that helped. There were events organized by the staff as well. There was always a long line to talk to the reception staff however.
Top hostel.
Clean and cafe decent
I spent incredible days at this hostel. Clean, organized, and wonderful staff.
Excellent service, very friendly staff, very clean bedrooms and bathrooms and reasonable prices
Fantastic, for NYC prices, close to metro station 103, cleaning, spacious kitchen, fully furnished, staff well!
One of the best hostels I have ever been to, everything perfect from the staff to the rooms and the facilities
Friendly front desk, very clean facilities, quiet staying area, cozy room, comfort bed. No kitchen though.
The hostel is great, just got upset that my bed was not tidy and contained belonged to someone else
It was the best hostel I have ever visited throughout the world, interior is great ,marvelous atmosphere ,kind management, great location and visitors were very friendly .
Clean, safe, place to stay for a great price close to the subway station.
One of the best places to stay in New York, when you want to focus on city tours and don t spend too much on hotel. Friendly atmosphere, great service, safe spot.
Excellent hostel, very good service and delicious breakfasts. Near Central Park and the metro.
Good enough. But you can easily get cold walking to bathroom and back
Excellent Hostel !! I was afraid to stay in this place, but I confess that I was surprised by the infrastructure, the service, everything. If I return to NYC I will definitely stay there again.
