BAM has nice ambience. The staff is friendly and professional. I will be back.
BAM is one of the few places in the world you will find truly progressive, forward thinking live performances (music, dance, theater, opera) with top-notch productions. If you are interested in seeing the future of the world of performing arts, this is the place to find it. Truly a New York treasure.
The staff was helpful, brewing a fresh pot of coffee for me when they ran out. But the theater we entered clearly hadn't been cleaned between showings, since popcorn and sticky floors and abandoned trash speckled the theater. We went through all the previews with the theater lights on, and then got five minutes into the movie with people shouting "Turn off the lights!" before they finally did.
Concessions also felt like a ripoff - I asked for a glass of tap water to go with my popcorn (I dislike the taste of Dasani, their only option) and they literally handed me a dixie cup. Like they're so afraid of losing revenue by giving guests already paying for the ticket and for other concessions (I bought a $4 coffee and an $8 small popcorn) tap water that they limit this to one ounce per customer.
Between the dixie cup and the dirty theater, it really made the place feel cheap.
I visited the Brooklyn Academy of Music during a trip to NYC in February 2020, specifically to attend the film screening of 'The Pursuit of Vulnerability' - a documentary about the life and work of poet, academic and activist Audre Lorde. More
Saw FAHRENHEIT 11/9 at the Rose Cinemas. Great venue (great film!).
They play a lot of Indy movies and classic movies. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
Great theater. Amazing views from almost everywhere!
Love seeing Shakespeare here. Unfortunately it's not here often enough!
Saw a movie through Movie Pass. Great kow key theater.
Excellent place for all kind of cultural activities
Cozy theatres...should get there early to grab the seats you want...
Nice venue, theatres are clean and spacious, good sound quality, centrally located 1 block from long island railroad Flatbush terminal.
Saw Anthony Bourdain here and had a great time. Drinks were what you'd expect but you have to pay for special ($$$) cups to bring them in the theater. Facility itself was great.
Beautiful building and theaters. Good movies. Seats aren't the most comfortable
It's absolutely beautiful inside! Got tickets to Jimmy Kimmel Live with a friend and he agreed 100% that it made watching the show (and the whole experience) that much better. I'll be keeping an eye out for more events here!
The level 1 membership is a great gift for students and movie lovers. Ticekts are $7.50
saw eighth grade here. incredibly pricey but great service
The movie concession menu could be better with some less unhealthy soft drinks. Popcorn is good but sometimes too old. Overall a great place to see a movie although seats can be cramped in some halls.
Great place, historic address, for films and live theater, I just wished they had more restrooms available, like in the first floor for example, wouldn't need to go up to the 2nd floor for restrooms.
It is a revered performance venue. I grew up a block or so away from it. Beautiful structure..at night the windows glisten with surreal lighting design.
Beautiful event. Jimmy Kimmel in Brooklyn was so cool.
Beautifully renovated. Great place for a performance or concert.
Great place .unbelievable architecture . A site to see . Very nice seating arrangement. Aquatics is great .
Check out their rep cinema program, especially if they have Q&As!
Love the retrospectives and the film festivals. Membership is a good deal for cinephiles.
Iconic and always on the cutting edge. Great popcorn too.
Have seen the Dance Africa showcase every year, with my family, since childhood.
THE BUILDING IS BEAUTIFUL.
WENT TO SEE JIMMY KIMMEL IN BROOKLYN ON OCT 20, 2015 N ON OCT 19, 2017.
Saw Jimmy Kimmel their with guests David Letterman and Paul Shaffer.
Good variety of programs, movies, and performances.
This place is the best of it's kind on all respects
Best kept secret for good movies! Where else can you catch a flick in such an elegant setting?
Love this theater and entertainment complex, from drama, dance, film, live music and comedy it has several venues that offer great entertainment.
Great theatre, screens sound clean classy its where You want to see Your next movie
The Next Wave Festival is amazing every year. The new, and substantial additions to music they offer make it a must visit. Cool venue.
Great for cinema and theater. Also check out events at cafe upstairs.
Good performance, Theater relaxing glass of wine good food
Saw a movie there. Movie was pretty good. Not a great experience though when buying popcorn however. The woman at the counter was a little unprofessional. Managers need to oversee the workers to ensure quality.
Nice screens. Could do with an upgrade but they show really great movies
Gorgeous venue, wonderful employees, fantastic union production staff. I have attended events and worked events at this venue, both of which were equally enjoyable.
The movie was great and the staff was very welcoming!
Fantastic venue for indie film, theater and artist talks.
Beautiful building with moderately comfortable seats and great sound quality. Love catching a movie here, as it doesn't feel like a huge conglomerate cinema.
A beautiful concert hall featuring interesting world class artists. Recently saw the 50th anniversary concert honoring the Velvet Underground
Movie theaters are small and quaint. Good popcorn! Ticket prices are as you'd expect.
Beautiful space. Madonna's show on the other hand...
Great performance great dance and lots of african vendors.
While not comfortable by today's standards, no Etter place in BK to see some art house cinema.
