Best hostel i have ever been. Made allot of new friends. hope to come back soon
Very good!
However, I do not want to use the care in the room for four people
Best hostel a wanderlust can find in NYC at an affordable price. The add in feature include hostel arranged city walk tours, social events, cultural interaction opportunities with people from all over the world. A nice and warm place.
Good service, the attendant was really kind to me but the room I stayed was cold.
Great staff and very good accommodation for the hostel category
Fantastic location, cheap price, excellent cleaning, every possible service from the kitchen to the laundry to the animation. Highly recommended
The staff was super friendly and helpful. The place was clean and the location was nice. It wasn't far from the subway. The Wi-Fi connection was good. The price was a good deal considering how expensive the city is. I would recommend it to friends, family, everybody. If I go back to NYC I would stay there again. :)
I don't think is a hotel in New York that can compare with the ambience the patio's the peaceful tranquility the cafe, the staff, the organization McClellan is next to the Martha's vineyard hostel these places are simply wonderful I've stayed at the best of hotel cannot compare with the hostel Amsterdam ave and that Martha's vineyard everything is marvelous I love the place
Best Place to stay if you are traveling alone or with a group of friends, and on a budget. They are clean, safe, affordable, and best of all, always have tours and activities for hostellers.
Very nice bathrooms, bedrooms and shared spaces. The bedroom had a peculiar smell and they had us waiting an hour for our rooms upon our arrival, but the staff was most friendly and accommodating. I would happily stay here again.
The hostel was very nice. Easy to check into and well organized. The rooms were great, each person gets a bed, light and charger in the bed, and locker. They were very clean along with the communal bathrooms on the floor. The location was great, a couple blocks from the 103rd subway station.
The best hostel I've ever visited, clean rooms, spotless bathrooms and showers, washing products included, free towels. Lots of activities to do from guided tours at the maximum cost of ten dollars, to pub crawls organized for the evening. Personal cordialissimmo and available for every need. Coffee maker stocked for breakfast but prices a little in line with New York. Recommended for those traveling alone, GO there !!
Good facillties, decent breakfast, efficient staff.
I stayed in the four bed dorm with two of my sisters and one of our friends, and we had a great time! The hostel is VERY clean and well run. The breakfast is good, and the staff is so friendly and they really know what they're doing. I never had to wait for a bathroom, and we were there labor day weekend when the city was jam-packed. We didn't hear any excessive noise, and we slept really well. I would definitely stay again!
I had a lot of friends on school trips ... so for two days I woke up so loudly in the upper floors
I stayed on the first floor of the bunk bed. The bed was so old that I could hear the squeaking sound every time the upper person moved.
But the bed was so unbearable somehow I was tired and it was okay if I fell down .. The last morning, I asked the counter to go to the airport! I can't speak English very well .... I feel so bad that I just got on the lift and took the airport ... If you don't like it, don't work at the hostel .....
One of the best hostels where I stayed. And to be honest, despite the price which is expensive, it's worth being here! Because they offer delicious breakfasts, trips every day for free. So stop here and you will not regret it;)
Pricey for a hostel, but very decent for New York. Nice clean rooms and restrooms.
Floor noise is excessive / Location is poor / Bathroom is satisfactory
Pretty renovated and cozy facilities. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms plentiful and clean. The common areas are the best you can find in a hostel. Breakfast is NOT free, they have a cafeteria with prices according to where you are, Manhattan. Things to improve, the treatment of some employees is not the most appropriate, it seems that you do them a favor when staying. They will try to charge you for absolutely everything, and already, the price is exorbitant for a bed in a shared room of 10 people, but, this is NYC ....
Big place, filled with people. Nice staff. Good acomodations and price.
Good service, good enough rooms, maybe a little too expensive but mostly worth the price
Very clean, well organized, well located. Great atmosphere. Employees mostly solid and educated
Excellent experience! One of the neatest places in New York. The beds were comfortable. I did the 13 hour tour with the hostel and had an amazing time! Highly recommend!
Very clean and comfortable if I had to return soon I would return to this place.
Very clean hostel, perfect for a short stay on a budget. When I arrived it was renovated and seemed clean. The hostel provided towels, WiFi, and conciergerie services for suitcase storage.
Nice accomodation and facilities. Plus breakfast is decent and free.
Loved every minute of the stay, staff were ready to answer and ask questions about the city. The hostel is very clean and quiet at night, the breakfast is diverse and it is possible to make your own food using the kitchens available.
The hostel has many points in all the portals, in my opinion it is not as valid as evaluated. The structure is a bit old, 10 people dorm 2 days early December at a cost of 50 dollars a night, insufficient bathrooms compared to the number of people accommodated, unique and very slow lift, expensive breakfast. The spaces are large and there are rooms, shared kitchen, etc. It should be improved, the same Washington HI chain is 100 times better.
Travelled solo and found this place as best suited, very helpful staff and pretty clean place.
I was there for a few days in the hostel and everything was very good. I only had an unpleasant experience with a dark-skinned Dominican man who works there as a supervisor, very ordinary! ... I think they need to select the staff better. Thank you.
Great location, clean and comfort sharing room but bad hospitality
very quiet rooms, clean bathrooms.
The elevator is a hassle, just take the stairs. it saves you minutes/
The facilities are great. The kitchen is very spacious. The bathrooms very clean and the common areas very nice. The staff always very friendly.
Rather good experience, I was in a room of 8 people. Not very wide but adapt well to privacy in the beds. The kitchen is well supplied and the shops not far.
I recommend.
The place is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, 20 minutes from the subway of Times Square, it is a residential area, quiet and safe. As for the attention is excellent, the treatment was very good. The cleaning of the rooms is daily. It has a games room, kitchen and a very well decorated patio. While like every hostel it is aimed more at youth, they go of any age. Highly recommended.
I stayed at this Hostel in November of 2014. It was my first time in NYC and I really did not want to spend a ton of money on a hotel, I just needed a bed at night to sleep and a shower. This hostel had the best reviews so I booked it for 4 nights. Total came out to around $200 compared to $700 for a regular hotel in the same area. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful at check in. I was pleased to see that the place is huge and not small and crammed. Met so many people from around the world in my room and also in the dining area. The rooms were clean, lockers were big. You have to provide your own lock for the locker. Also, you must sign up for membership with hostelling international when you arrive, but it's cheap. Over all, this place met all my needs as a solo traveler looking to save money on lodging and focus more on experiencing the city. I highly recommend. Next time I visit NYC, I will book this place again.
Good position, 20 meters from subway. Kindly staff. The hostel organizes different tours every day!
When I was a university student, I stayed alone. The foreigners in the same room and the Japanese in another room got along well and it was only one night, but it's a fun memory.
very big and clean bathrooms, nice kitchen and the terrace is great, staff is really friendly and in general great atmosphere :)
Went to an event in the SOHO room. Great facility. Chairs were comfy and plenty of tables for our needs.
It's a hostel.
It's in New York.
Still, I'd say it's overpriced and could improve on many levels. The room was like a smelly refrigerator and the staff was generally annoyed with the fact that they work in a hostel rather than making it on Broadway I guess.
It's a pretty big hostel! And busy !. For people of all ages in particular from 22 to 30 years old. It's okay! It lacks more quality maintenance and qualities facilities. It helps that it is well located and in an interesting and comfortable area of NYK, but ... yes you are very demanding in terms of cleanliness and order in the rooms and bathrooms, do not expect much!
I really liked staying here! I've stayed in several NYC hostels and this is my favorite one. It is beautiful on the inside, so many common rooms, a huge kitchen, a very huge dining area, bathrooms are clean, shower is hot, and lockers are offered. There is a cafe in the lobby that offers hot food, cold subs, coffee & tea, and so many mouthwatering desserts. The only thing I didn't like was they downgraded me from a 4 bed to an 8 bed, but didn't change the price (or give a refund). The first night I was alone, which is why they can keep 5 stars.
The beds are comfortable, the hostel organizes exits and events to integrate the bathrooms and showers remain clean
Environment conducive to making new friends with people from all over the world. Ideal for travelers traveling alone. Super staff, bathrooms and clean rooms. Large closet in the room that fits a medium suitcase, it is only necessary to carry the lock. The tours made by the hostel are wonderful, some are free. The guides are very receptive, explain everything with good humor. Very close to the main subway line to visit the attractions. Close to Central Park. Offers Shuttle service, provided it is requested 24 hours in advance. The only problem I had was when I arrived because my room was not ready yet. Would definitely return to stay at this hostel.
Except slow elevator and poker face female staff, everything is good.
Very good hostel, highly recommended, the bad thing is that they do not allow alcohol in the place, but this was good enough
It's the best place I've ever been! Worth money and lovely staff
Very Welcoming, clean bedrooms, clean bathrooms. They have such fun activities planned during the week you can do for fun with the rest of the residents or/and you can study/work in the cafe, outside, in the Theater room, etc! I loved this place and I loved my first experience in New York!
Too bad the WiFi is so bad quality otherwise really nice with a quality staff
Good value for money !
I stayed there for four nights. Facilities are fair, and there's a lot of people to connect with. They organize all kinds of events so it's easier to socialize, definitely a great advantage if you're travelling alone.
Comedy shows there are great!
The location was great, quiet enough at night yet close to main metro line stations. Rooms and beds were very clean, however the bathrooms could've used more detailing. The overall experience is great and makes a fantastic option if you can fill a room with people.
you really need to check this hostel out when you are in town... very affordable and friendly staff. i love the comedy... really funny guys.. thanks for the laugh...
Nice rooms and great staff, many activities to join and entertainment in the eveneing. Good place for students and young crowd.
Nice staff. I dropped my bag behind into the locker, the housekeeper help me out and call the maintenance, efficient and friendly.
Large hostel with large highly recommended organization
If your on a budget in nyc, that's a good place to stay. Nice kitchen with all you need.
Comfortable common areas.
They offering a lot of walking tours to get to know the city. All for 10 dollars.
You have 24h hours store's around and some fast food restaurants. Metro 1 is right in front.
Great hostel, minimalized breakfast in some rooms included. Super spacious meeting and social area. Huge kitchen. Lots of social events. I would return!
Good location. Good kitchen facilities. Rooms a bit cramped and small for 8 people. Front Desk staff member who checked me in did not accommodate my request for a lower bunk, telling me none were available. But when i wemt to my room, there were 2 available. Went back to desk later and spoke to diff staff member and switched to lower bunk with no problems.
Great comedy show downstairs in basement theatre room. Location was uptown, but easy subway ride to all big attractions
Really nice and interesting design. A/C broke in the room could not be fixed, rude other people in room and snoring.

What a great place... The staff was friendly, and the place was clean, well lite, and they had loads of activities and amenities. My sheets were clean, white, and waiting on my bed for me. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. I stayed in a hostel in London and it was night and day.... I'm 33 and I felt like it was geared to a younger crowd but there were plenty of people my age and older.... A little more expensive but well worth it.
HI NYC is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in.
Clean and relatively quiet but the neighborhood looked to have suspicious looking people. I wouldn't wonder around at night. Be in early.
Loved this place, great customer service, employees make you feel welcomed
Incredible place with easy access to the subway, 2 blocks. Bathrooms very clean and the wi-fi is very good. The place is full of people from all over the world, great for making friends
Fun but it's huge and there's always a world of people!
Cockroaches, bed bugs, reception staff incompetent an almost useless elevator, I mean 1 alone for the whole hostel while there are 4 floors to climb, I do not recommend.
A little bit expensive and far from downtown but super cool hostel!
Nice and efficient staff, and nice events.
Clean rooms and showers
What a wonderful hostel. I considered a few cheaper options around NYC, but ultimately chose here because of 3 factors, it's convenient location (1 block from a major subway line); daily programs like city tours and live music; and historic building over 100 years old. I stayed for 13 days in March 2019 in a male 4 dorm and the room and facilities were all extraordinary clean and well kept. I was provided by the hostel a towel, bedding, pillows, and a blanket which they will wash every four days if you want.
I stayed for one night and it was great for what it is. Nice bunk to myself with an outlet and a small wall for privacy. Great place to stay on a budget.
