Fantastic resort with very friendly and helpful staff. Went for our anniversary so didn't take part in a lot of the amenities but everything looked wonderful.
Great place with great stuff I wish they do promotions for the regular customers.
I had been there when it was run by Marriot and I had a great time. I came back a couple months ago and I was seriously let down by the service, the food, and maintenance in many parts of the resort. I don't think i'll be back anytime soon.
Great place! Went to see Curtis Grimes, Sarah Hobbs, and Tracy Byrd and it was an all around amazing show and venue.
To short of visiting but enjoyed for the short time but I will be back
Covid-19 made things difficult but service was good
Clean space, courteous staff, good food, and please take atmosphere.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay here. We came out to hill country to see the blue bonnets and stayed here one night. The food wasn't that great but the coffee was in both the restaurant as well as the market (gift shop). The staff was 50/50 on their hospitality and knowledge of surrounding sites. View from the room was pleasant and the garden areas made for a nice walk.
Horseshoe Bay is a beautiful resort. The rooms weren't fancy, but they were comfortable. Even though we don't have any children, it is very kid friendly. There were a lot of children but it didn't disturb the peaceful environment. They have a plethora of activities scheduled every day of the week. They didn't have as many food options available to us while we were there; however, it was merely because the other restaurants were closed at the time. The service was great!
Quiet atmosphere. Relaxing environment. Amazing landscapes and views. The most attentive staff. Wonderful experience.
Stayed a this resort during the week so keep that in mind during my review. Great area, just come expecting to out down some cash on all the fun on the lake. The food at the resort isn't too amazing I suggest actually going off the resort to some of the places about 5 minutes down the road.
I am a local author who was in need of a quiet place to meet a book deadline. My original hotel had no availability so I decided to give Horseshoe Bay Resort a shot. When making my reservation I specifically requested a lake view room to avoid any distractions and have a peaceful view, they had no issues as they claimed they had several lake view rooms available. However, upon arrival in my room I found that I was given a basic room full of distractions, packed tennis courts, pool, etc.... They claimed to have switched my room without notifying me because they made a mistake and found no lake view was available. I found this a pretty strange "mistake" for a hotel with a state of the art reservation system to make.
In the end, though the hotel was beautiful, I ended up leaving early because I could not concentrate in the room I was given which was the entire reason I decided to spend the night. It was either stare at myself in the mirror while writing or watch the entire hotel enjoy their leisure. It was also very upsetting to find that they still charged me the full price of a lake view room even though they stuck me in what must have been a standard room because there was nothing special about it. I could have gotten the same room with a view down the road at the Hampton for half the price and not have a strange 300 dollar ghost charge leaving me scratching my head. The only reason I chose to pay more was because I liked the fact that I could order room service or eat in the hotel itself to avoid leaving since I was under a time constraint.
This is one place I cannot say will end up in the acknowledgement section because after viewing my bank statement I feel pretty scammed.
I was there for a wedding and spent the night. The wedding was by the yacht club where I spent most of my time. The scenery was exquisite, the facilities suitable, and the staff excellent. The tower, however, was dirty, littered with dirt, grime, and spiderwebs. It felt cheap and run down, and is probably due for renovation. I will admit since I was preoccupied with the wedding I didn't take full advantage or a full inventory of the resorts facilities
Came with the family for a couples retreat. Food was delicious, rooms were comfy and clean. They have a 24 hours fitness facility with top notch equipment. The treadmills and elipticals connected to YouTube and to your headphones without any issues.
There is a marina and mini golf facility very close. Will definitely come back again.
Beautiful place but still waiting for our room. Apparently house keeping is still cleaning the room and it past check in time. Hotel management should consider hiring more people if they can t keep up with the traffic. Call to check your room is ready unless you want to wait for hours..hopefully this is not the normal experience.
Attended a CTAT conference here. Beautiful area. I wish their big restaurant had not been closed. Very nice place.
Top of its class and service and amenities. Keep up the good work
I stayed here for a company retreat and loved it! The grounds are beautiful, fountains and plants everywhere. There are tons of activities for adults and kids, and pretty good food and drinks available at the bars/restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful and I felt taken care of the entire time. Fantastic place to get away for a bit
Great remodelled modern rooms. The resort is very pretty. Staying at the resort gives you access to the Yatch Club, which is really beautiful. It is right on the lake with a pool on the waterfront. There is also an amazing hot tub. Overall a great experience.
Poor sanitation and the first room we had there was a horrible odor of sewage, then we were moved to a second room that had the sewer odor but also cockroaches in the bathroom. My son in addition got food poisoning from eating at the restaurant.
The arrival was great, very nice people on the front desk. They took care of our luggage, and we started our weekend right. Very early after we were on the Yacht Club and we (My 2 6 years old, my wife and myself) ordered lunch (4 hamburgers) nothing really fancy or difficult to remember and our friends asked for their lunch at the same time. They came back(30 mins later) with our friends lunch, apologized and asked again what is it we wanted for lunch... we had to wait another 30 minutes. While we waited our friends finished their lunch and went to complain with the manager. The server came back with the food right after and almost throws the food at us... very nasty server. We complained again, she denied it and the manager apologized.
Next day we payed for breakfast buffet, I went to the 'omelette station' after 2/3 minutes of a line (only two people on the line) I get my turn and the girl says, please ask the guy on that kitchen to help you with your omelet, I found it weird(only me were on the 'line'), but went ahead and went to the guy on the side kitchen. I asked him to help me with my omelet, he raised his arms looked up and groaned.... It was the most absurd experience I have ever had on a $20+ dollar buffet! I obviously complained and just decided to leave the hotel.
This is your worst choice in Central Texas, go somewhere else.
Very nice getaway with a excellent lake view , surroundings were clean and cozy .will come back again
Great place, for a tennis tournament. Very scenic and peaceful.
Brief stay but I cannot recall any resort, anywhere in the world I've traveled which has a friendlier staff. The "miniature" golf course is ALL natural bermuda greens. Not felt on concrete. Very nice. Room was modern and very clean. Obviously recently updated/upgraded. Restaurant very good and reasonably priced (for a resort hotel restaurant :) ).
Well, to be honest I didn't reply go to the resort like, but I did play at there tennis courts. Let me tell you the surroundings were awesome and tennis courts were great. I saw that you could play golf and have a good time to swim. Seems to be a fun place. Only complaint would be there are pretty much no restaraunts nearby.
Beautiful hotel and grounds! Staff is 5 stars and the different food choices awesome and tasty! Kids had a blast at half day care. Will be back soon
Want to give them the benefit of the doubt. They are going through construction, my wife treated me to a birthday weekend and we were a little disappointed with some of the services. However, they made good on being very responsive for us. Great location in the hill country. Just need to work on better quality massages for the money you would spend at a spa.
I visited one of the hotel rooms where a relative was staying at. The rooms were quite spacious for large numbers of company and the view of the balcony was very nice given that the weather was pleasant over the weekend.
There isn't enough space on here 2 express my gratitude and satisfaction with this place. It's more than just a hotel. We arrived on good Friday, Mar 30th at noon and was able to check in early. The desk clerk, Bailey, helped us out. She was initially wanted to put us on the 7th floor, but I requested to be lower because I wanted to be near the pool area for the kids sake. But once we got to the 242 it has not been cleaned. We went back 2 check in and informed Bailey. Upon waiting I was approached by the Associate Director of Sales. She wanted to know were we being waited on. I explained 2 get what was taking place and she expressed her apologies and assured me that we would be squared away. We were then tended to by Lance, whom I had an issue with over the phone as a result of lack of customer service during the time of scheduling the reservation, but his attitude and customer service was way better in person. We were placed in room 646. The room was fresh and cleaned to standard. The only downside to that was the view was horrible due to construction going on at the hotel. Food was great and so was the wait staff. We had the pleasure of being served by Ellie that evening who was such a sweetheart. While we were at the pool we had a nice time in the pool and hot tub and was served by Ciara & Dawn. There was a problem with not getting out food on time, but once we went in to the restaurant the manager there discounted us as a result of receiving a late order and as a result of not having some of the items that we requested on the menu. Saturday we started the day with breakfast in the hotel restaurant where we enjoyed some really good good and was tended to by Keisha. She was very knowledgeable and very expeditious in serving us. The actual Balloon Festival was a bust due to the weather I believe. I may not attend tjat again because it's a gamble and a waste of money for the VIP tickets that I purchased. Besides the hotel has enough accommodations to satisfy the whole family. On Easter Sunday, we attend the Easter Brunch and it was delightful. So much good food, drinks, music, and great people. Although we had checked out We still had the option to visit the pool and the other amenities that were available. We may make this a family tradition for Easter every year. Thanks to all of the staff for making this a beautiful Easter weekend for us.......oh and due to the noise from the construction and me not being able to take a nap that Saturday afternoon, Bailey promised to mail us a certificate for 2 free nights in the future. Hopefully, by then the construction will be complete.
Enjoyed this resort and the pool. Keurig in the room didn't work and the staff didn't make it up to our room in time for us to make coffee before we checked out - but they did buy us each a cup at Starbucks to take on the road.
The resort overall was amazing and the staff is the professional and courteous. They let us BBQ and stay in the Facilities even after they close. Everything is kept very clean and they promote a very relaxing environment
Was our first time. From Monica at check in, to Jose on check out, with Robert and Cody in between... we had a wonderful time. Many Thanks !!
My hair turned seven shades grayer just being here. The golf resort with early closing hours on it's amenities is obviously targeting the Boomer demographic. I wouldn't come here if not for a conference. Three stars for a nice single king room.
Rooms, location, views, and service from front desk was amazing. Food needs a lot of work, breakfast was ok, dinner at Yacht club was not good.
HSBR my bestfriend lives nextdoor to this business, while a very beautiful and well run resort. They allowed members to continue use of facilities during lockdown. They also attempted a reopening on 4/13 they had food trucks delivering 3 days before. I can only the waste from this. I pray they donated their extra to first responders!
Room was very "old school" - light on wall hanging by electric wires. Restaurants appear to be where, Management chose to spend their money. Most likely will not return.
For $700 a night for a 3/3 condo, it was incredibly disappointing.
The good first. Although the menus were limited, the staff in all the food places were really working hard. The employees at the marina and shop were very helpful.
Bad: Upon arrival the guy at the front didn't even acknowledge our presence. Front desk lady was annoyed at having to deal with anyone. Not just rude to us. No one seems to know what is going on at the other facilities in the "resort". Condo itself is large, but very sparsely equipped. 1 parking spot for a 3/3 condo isn't enough. The most annoying aspect is that early check-in and late checkout are available on the website, but apparently not available for the condos.
All in all not worth the expense.
Beautiful resort, on Lake LBJ. Fantastic for families or couples. Huge variety of activities right on resort property.
What a beautiful place. Trained birds not in cages. The rooms are incredible
Delightful place. In the middle of an 18 miles lake.
Friendly personnel... and multiple food offerings.
Beautiful setting, rooms are clean and comfortable, customer service some of the friendliest I've ever experienced.
Overall, had a good time and staff was very friendly. The villa rooms felt a bit dated from a decor/amenities standpoint, but still respectable. Would recommend solely on the staff being so excellent.
The beds are old, the boats over heat, the room stinks, the staff are OK but some of them were very rude. Such a waste of money. Over priced garbage!
Loved it. Great place and good staff. A million things to do in the area. Spectacular food and line dancing
Absolutely stunning resort, everything was ran as close to perfection as possible!
I grew up visiting Horseshoe Bay Resort every summer during the early 90s, and was eager to visit again after many years away. We visited during Labor Day Weekend, and had a fantastic stay despite a very very full resort.
Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and eager to take care of us. The current management has generally done an excellent job maintaining the lavish grounds, most of which were built back in the 70s with a no-expense-spared mentality, while tastefully updating the buildings and amenities as appropriate. Our room in the tower appeared to have been recently remodeled and was beautiful. Excellent housekeeping. Lots to do - golf, tennis, watercraft rental, the Whitewater putting course, and multiple pools. Recommendation - if you're looking for a quieter pool on a busy weekend, check out the one at the Paseo Suites. It was rarely busy, even when the Tower and Yacht Club pools were packed. Also - don't miss the Slick Rock Grill. It's a short drive from the main resort and offers great food and prices.
Only disappointments during our stay:
-In contrast to the high standards to which most of the resort was maintained, the pools disappointed during our stay. The hot tub jets at the Tower Pool weren't working, the Yacht Club pool water was so cloudy I couldn't see my feet, and much of the exquisite lighting in and around the Yacht Club pool and hot tub was out of commission (this sounds like I'm being picky - but the lighting was a particular highlight from my childhood memories and I was disappointed to see it in bad shape).
-Poolside service and food at the Yacht Club disappointed - it took 10 minutes just to get a menu, and the wrap that my wife ordered was so bad that she had to send it back. I'll attribute the service issue to how crowded the resort was during our stay.
Despite these minor issues, we had a great time and hope to re-establish our tradition of annual trips to Horseshoe Bay (hopefully during less-crowded weekends).
Seems like nice place. Took family here. Even upgraded to nicer "room". Forgot to tell me that my upgraded room did not include standard resort features like towel service or working fridges. These are necessity for family of 7. 3 small children 4 adults. Had to switch rooms 3 times in 4-6 hours at check in. 30 hours into first stay went to front office and said will not stay here again. 3BR 3BA rooms. Was told they will give us a call when they review it.....just shocked. Room rate is $2K for 3 nights, I guess expectations were little too high?
Best experience ive ever had at any resort ive ever been to in Texas.
Just as an example of the quality you get for $400 a night , my luxury mattress was a regular king size with a pillow top insert thrown underneath the covers.
Room service took nearly an hour, was extremely overpriced , served us cold hot food and warm cold food including the milk.
I was unable to even attempt to enjoy a spa services with my wife, because a couple's package was more than the cost of a night in the room.
Room not updated since 1970. Very uncomfortable furniture, AC couldnt cool down rooms, internet reception the worst. Screaming kids in pool late at night. Small pools, front desk didnt care.
The location is stellar, but the facilities need some serious upgrades to bring it back up to its former glory. That said, I cannot attest to the golfing here from what I hear it is top notch.
We had a great time at the Hotel! The staff is friendly and they are taking the precautions for you COVID-19. We stayed at the Villas and they need a little renovation, the common areas amazing super clean. We spend a lot time at the Yatch club by the Lake and it was amazing. 5 star because they follow the guidelines to keep everyone same around the Hotel and the Staff super nice.
I had a very good time with my brother and friends. Would recommend!
It was just ok. Won't be back anytime soon. Upon check in I asked about resort activities and the lady started listing them, like we are supposed to remember the times of the 4 different movies playing tomorrow. :0 Any other resort of this caliber gives out printed schedules. We were told the kid's pool was heated, it definitely was not. It seems like from pictures and website that it is on the lake, but it doesn't feel like it and in actuality it is a golf cart ride to the lake. We also had 2 bad experiences at resort restaurants. At dinner my husband ordered a ribeye cooked medium and it eas was very well done and dry. At breakfast the waitress was awful and didn't know anything about the menu. The AC in our room didn't work and we had to move rooms at 11pm with our 2 babies after 5+ phone calls.
For the price we paid it was not worth it. :(
The staff was very professional and friendly. They took the time to ensure all our needs were met and fully understood what our rentals entailed. I would highly recommend this establishment and plan to stay again
Great resort, food isn't great but service is good and nearby san Antonio
Loved the villa we stayed in! The food was good and so were the drinks. We got to enjoy and dip in the heated pool and relaxing in the hot tub. Best part was the putt putt golf!! Beautiful course.
Ehhhh. Not much of a resort. More hotel like inside.
Great property to relax and enjoy, good food and service
First and last time staying at this resort. Went there base off the pics. This is not a resort for kids. The website display pics of stuff that aren't even there. As far a smores night. Look a pics and video. The kids activites weren't even done, due to most of the stuff broken down or cancel due to short staffing. Plus, not realizing none of the activities are free. $60 each night to even participate. Plus the condo master suite had bedbugs and water bugs in kitchen. Plus a lot of cats hung out in the breeze way or patios of your condo. Not a happy first time guess. Not impress with the website false advertising things that aren't done or there.
Great getaway. First class amenities! Friendly staff.
Toured the grounds. A beautiful place. Staff was inviting and engaged. Making plans to come spend a weekend to relax and enjoy.
