Mmm soooo many people not wearing masks. Resort does not enforce
Horseshoe Bay Resort was truly an amazing experience. Very friendly staff, clean rooms. Beautiful landscaping and lots of activites for kids. Would definitely recommend. The only thing that needs improvement is the kiddie pool did not look clean and food needs improvement. Overall, had a really quiet, peaceful, fun time
It was a wonderful "anniversary weekend getaway" spot!
So, this is my first ever bad review. We are currently staying at the horseshoe Bay resort. I surprised my wife with a weekend getaway after she was diagnosed with MS. She has had a hard six months and I wanted her to just relax. Unfortunately that condition makes you extremely tired and so I wanted her to be able to sit in the room have a good view and enjoy her time. I spoke with Wes upon arriving and told him that it was a surprise and she had been here for her bachelorette party before we got married. He told me that he would make sure we had the perfect room to accommodate my request. Well.... attached is the "GREAT RELAXING" view he gave us.(The hotel was not near full capacity either) Wes then literally cut off an employee - whom was also working behind the desk - as she was talking to me about how sweet it was to surprise my wife after such a rough diagnosis and asking about how the diagnosis affects each individual. He literally shoved the key out in her mid sentence and said "Sir, I have you a great room on the 2nd floor near the elevator for less walking. The poor lady just put her head down and walked towards her computer area.
We then stayed in the room for the night as my wife was exhausted and order a movie and room service. When the food arrived it was not only incorrect but the food was just plain cold and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for 30 mins. My wife couldn't even eat one of the items because of it including an allergy food that I asked to be removed.
On top of that the AC unit whines all night and will not get below 70 even when it is cranked to 65 all night.
For a 500$ weekend hotel resort getaway this is unacceptable. $115 room service order that was basically inedible is worth a bad review also.
Everything is very good. Liked the room, service, food and amenities. Planning to come again during summer when the weather is good for the activities the resort has to offer.
As a person that goes to this resort during Thanksgiving Break I have loved it every year and always can't wait to go back.Service and everything is the best you honestly can't ask for a better place to spend your breaks.I hope you all have a wonderful time and love the service when you go.Don't regret not going or you would miss a lot of fun and good times.
Loooove it here...so relaxing..we will definitely be back and stay longer next time..staff is so nice and accommodating...hubby wants to play some Golf here next time
We had an amazing time. The staff is absolutely great and so helpful. Everyone was wearing face mask, so we felt really safe throughout our stay.
Great food and accommodations. Drinks at the yacht club were stellar. Would stay again in a heartbeat
The grounds and rooms were amazing, but service and food have fallen off drastically. The food was barely edible, and wait service was slow and they also didn't know anything about the menu.
What a beautiful resort. The staff were so fantastic. This is a great place to visit.
Soooooo....THANK THE GAWDS FOR THE NEW SEAFOOD RESTAURANT located at Horseshoe Bay Resort! The Waterfront Bar and Grill is here BABYYYYY! AND IT IS EEEEEVVVVVVVERYTHANG! I WILL BE uploading more pictures at the Grand opening on Saturday June 8th to hotel guests....our members have been lovinnnnnnng it!
Overlooking the beautiful Lake LBJ, drive up on your boat for lunch, drinks, great music and cocktails....or...make reservations for a sexy dinner. Amazing seafood platters! Everyday has a new Catch of the day! And our deserts are MOUTHWATERING AND DESIRABLY DELICIOUS (Chocolate Marquees served with fresh strawberries and a Vanilla Bean cheesecake with a blueberry cobbler drizzled and finished with orange zest to name a couple!). Just wait until I post more pictures! To dieeeee!!!
My fiance and I stayed at this resort years ago for an anniversary. Everything was top notch. The service was excellent and our server Dawn took care of us the entire stay. They were flexible with our groupon and let us use a jet ski instead of the included pontoon boat. 10/10 would stay again.
I ve stayed in the Waters condos every year and the outside has gone down in a years time. The hallways and stairs are dirty with cobwebs, the elevators don t work half the time and are filthy with handprints. the place needs a serious power washing. The outdoor grills are dirty, they don t have pest control on the grass so expect fleas on your dogs and watch out for fire ants attacking you and your dog. Garage is filthy with spider webs. This place has gone down since they changed management. What does the condo fee pay for?
Great hotel and great staff. The resort is fantastic. Family friendly yet still leisurely for singles. Plenty to do. A bit dated on the exterior but otherwise no complaints.
Awesome place. This gem on Lake LBJ is great for families and couples. Highly recommended
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary this week. At first we were excited but, unfortunately, we left disappointed.
I ll start with the pros:
The resort is gorgeous. It really makes you feel like you ve stepped out of Texas and into a real vacation.
If you can afford it, there are plenty of things to do.
We enjoyed put-put, their workout room, and the overall environment.
Front of desk staff is friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Jimmy was especially helpful and went above and beyond.
The lantana restaurant is superb with great service.
*The cons:
Our problem was mainly with the rooms.
The walls are PAPER thin. You hear every conversation, toilet break, slammed door, and footstep from next door, the hallway, and outside. It s pretty horrible. I m not a light sleeper but could not sleep because of the noise. There was a band playing after 11pm on Saturday that you could hear in the room and just everyday low conversation as well as rowdy conversation all night long AND bright and early in the morning.
The next issue is cleanliness. When we first got into the bed, there were long black hairs all over the pillows. It was absolutely disgusting. There are also weird water stains above the window which is just odd.
Our toilet started to overflow on the first day with only one use. The maintenance guy came right away to fix it but housekeeping did not come until we asked for them several times. We had nasty pee water all over the floor without any towels from 7am to 4pm by the time housekeeping made their way to us. We couldn t use the toilet or shower at all, which was pretty unacceptable with as much as you pay to stay here.
While the sliding barn door for the bathroom is aesthetically pleasing, it is not very practical. If anyone needs to use the bathroom, there is NO VENT so and the door does not shut completely so it smells the whole room up.
Lastly, all the hidden fees are obnoxious. You check in to find out you have to pay a $35 resort fee on top of what you already paid. Ok no problem, they have to keep up the grounds and everything. By the way, that is per night, which they don t tell you. Then you also get charged $75 per person but you get that back at the end of your stay if you don t charge anything to your room. They explained it as kind of a tab. Ok, no problem. We kept it well under that amount expecting to get some back. We got hit with a bill at the end which included the thing we charged to our room (under the $75 per person) but not the $75 per person prepaid tab, plus additional resort fees. This was just so disappointing after having such a horrible time sleeping and staying in a pee water room for a whole Saturday waiting to shower.
Overall, the grounds are nice, when other resort attendees aren t leaving trash everywhere. We enjoyed some of the amenities but we left feeling so ripped off and like we should have spent our time elsewhere. I would not come back because it s impossible to sleep in the room between the uncleanliness, the hidden fees, and the unusual amount of noise for any hotel, let alone a resort.
Such a beautiful resort with amazing, helpful staff!
Loved it my hubby and I spent the weekend at Horseshoe Bay. The atmosphere was wonderful, hotel staff friendly and professional, hotel very clean and the food at Lantana was delicious. Looking forward to visiting again.
We went for a wedding and spent a weekend at the resort. The pool is great and family friendly but was not heated (a little cold in April). Beautiful wedding venue. Great area to walk around, be active or just lay by the pool.
Such a nice place to visit that has such an elegant yet homey feel.
I had a small multi-day conference here. Not impressed with the hotel, the conference space, or the food. Some meals were quite good, others barely average. They were stingy about leaving the coffee urns out past the end of meal times, even when there was plenty left in them.
Parking is a nightmare; there's hardly any. Apartments and condos are crowded around the hotel. In the off-season (fall, winter, early spring) there's almost nothing to do there. The few attractions they have are all closed. They are renovating and improving some parts of the hotel, but it all feels like too little too late. The place has the feel of being a few years past its prime.
There's nothing wrong with the hotel rooms at all, but they're nothing special either. Run of the mill. The staff is good, but not great.
Overall, it just didn't feel like the best value for the money we had spent, and the location just wasn't all that special, especially in the off-season.
Liquor in the bar is super expensive compared to other similar venues.. charged $2 for ice in scotch.. scotch price for mcallen was $24.
Excellent option for a family walk.
Beautiful scenery and lots of fun.
I just want to say that this place goes out of their way to accommodate their guest! We launched my Mastercraft XStar and noticed the boat was taking on water and raced back to the docks. Their team ran out to find out what was going on as I was approaching the docks. They all jumped into action and found a lift to get my boat out of the water within 5-10mins...
They also gave me a ride to a local shop to try to find a plug for my boat. We was getting ready to launch the boat and forgot to put the plug in! Thank God my boats water displacement system was working... :)
We also had an issue on Sunday and was 45mins away at Boat Town Burger Bar in Kingsland and couldn't get the boat back to Horseshoe Bay. I called Horseshoe to see my options to get to my Tahoe and Ashley offered to come pick me up on a jet sky and bring me back to my Tahoe. I thought I was going to honestly have to take an UBER. I told her I didn't want to leave my girl here an hour and half waiting. She said give me a min and she called back and told me she was on her way. She showed up in a boat and was able to take myself and my girlfriend at the same time...
I can honestly say I don't remember a company going to this level in helping someone fix their issues and be so accommodating. I will surely be back to this resort if its just to say Hi to Ashley and the team that helped...
Give that girl a raise lol
Typical golf resort. Nothing special about it, but I was there only 1 night.
Always been a great facility, Not sure recent management changes will be positive. hopeful...
I go to Horseshoe Bay as a contract employee for the spa. The spa underwent renovations and looks amazing! I've worked with them for the past few months now and can honestly say that I feel like family there. We strive to give our clients the best spa experience they can get. Come by and check us out!
Clean rooms, outstanding customer service, delicious cocktails, stellar food, beautiful grounds.
We are here now as we speak because my boyfriend and I Wanted to come here for a weekend getaway. The place is under construction at one of the main pools that we wanted to be at to enjoy the lake, but unfortunately we took the transport all the way there and mid way through the ride we were informed it was closed. We ended up walking half way back, until we saw the transport randomly. Wish we would have been told at check in. Also the pool is infested with bugs, I (also another guests) got bit at both pools that are currently open. It s definitely not a resort for the couples whom want to get away and be around other adults. The pool had towels laying around, food smashed on the floor by kids, and drinks everywhere. I m from the Austin area and have heard such great things about this place but I m definitely regretting paying $200+ for just one night and not getting what we expected.
We won t come back. Booked a weekend stay here for my husbands birthday and it was disappointing on multiple levels. The main restaurant is closed but there was no mention of that on the website. Your option with kids for an easy dinner close to the hotel is to go to a sports bar with bar food. This would have been good to know prior to booking as we would have come after the restaurant is back open. Line to check in was 20+ minutes and we weren t even at peak check-in time. The lady kept saying her computer was slow. The pool bars and some other restaurants are closed u til March. Again would have been good to know prior to booking. We needed a wine opener and The Market nor concierge had one. They recommended we go out of the hotel, to the aforementioned sports bar, and see if they would let us borrow one of theirs. It was packed and I already waited in that line for a long time for a drink earlier. No thanks. Later on, we went to grab a beer at the 360 cafe and they we re out and told us to go to the sports bar. Again didn t want to wait in the line with everyone else when they are supposed to have beer there. If I wanted to spend my weekend at a sports bar I could do that a lot easier and cheaper at home. The smores campfire broke so we couldn t do smores. We waited for a while and it never did start working.
At the sports bar I asked for a frozen drink and they said they didn t have a blender nor offered any other drink suggestion, otger than try a restaurant down the street after taking a shuttle there. Not great service since we were supposed to have a hotel bar and restaurant, and now after going to the sports bar, I m being told to go to a 3rd location for a basic blended drink. At dinner my hubs asked for a water 3 times and it never came. We ordered a cheese pizza and got pepperoni, but after waiting 30 minuted we didn t want to wait another 30 minutes for another pizza to be brought out. No manager ever asked us how our stay or food was.
The room didn t have an exhaust fan in the bath. Even holiday inn has those. I can only imagine the mold in the walls. ...I could go on. I don t know how they are 4 stars. Go somewhere else.
This was an easy and relaxing weekend getaway, but we won t be returning. Hotel room was very nice, but pools were very small and boring. Not what we were expecting for a resort. We tried getting a reservation for a jet ski days in advance and they were all booked. Same with the spa. Other than going to the pool during our reserved time slot and going to one of their 3 restaurants, we were actually bored and ready to get back home. Everything was very pricey as well. Not worth going back for a return trip in our opinion.
Cool place. The pool is dope. Needs more babes and less old wives.
Best resort/hotel in marble falls! I had my wedding here this past April and it was a gorgeous fairy tale wedding just like I imagined it would be! The staff and Jessica was so helpful and amazing in making my wedding day perfect! I have been coming to marble falls since I was a kid and have always loved staying at this resort because it is a beautiful family place and there is so much to do! Highly recommend this resort for a wedding, family reunion, or romantic stay! Truly amazing resort!
No better place to watch the Astros than the 360 Lounge
My husband, 9 year old daughter and myself take 1 good family vacation per year and unfortunately this year we decided to try horseshoe bay resort. From the moment we pulled up it was a negative experience. We were getting all of our luggage out of the car and not once were we asked if we needed help with our bags. There were at least 4 staff members just standing there. Finally one asked me if we needed a luggage cart and I said yes that would be great. He then brings me one and says to bring it back when I m done because they don t have a lot. No offer to help us up to the room. Check in went ok, I confirmed that we were there for 5 days and had a breakfast package. The room itself was ok, be warned if you have children there is only a shower no bathtub. The first night a storm blew through and the air conditioning went out for several hours. When it started to get warm I called the desk to inquire about the air and the response I got was yes it s out we are all suffering . I get that you can t control the weather but no need for that snotty response. We attempted to go swimming in the hotel pool but that was difficult with the amount of ants in the water. Not a really pleasant experience when you have ants biting you. We rented a boat and when we checked in for that we were told the system was down and given pages of papers to sign without a lot of explanation of what we were signing. They were very lax about instructions for use of the boat and in general just seemed like they didn t want to be there. Once our time was up and we brought the boat back we weren t greeted with hey how was your boat trip but with that guy over there has your papers . The food menu was severely lacking, not many choices and no change in menu. We chose the breakfast package with out room and let our waitress know this but we were still charged for the breakfast package then charged again for the cost of the meal. Still trying to get that one straight. There were 2 times we attempted to use the putting course and were told no because it was closed for a group. The greens weren t cut until the end of the week when the larger groups of people started coming in. Overall not a great experience. From the staff acting like they didn t want to be there, and lack of any offer to help. Lost count of how many times we would ask a staff member a question only to be told I don t know, I m new here . Very sad that we take 1 vacation a year and this was it.
UPDATE: On our last day, we asked for late checkout. Apparently, they never actually changed what was required for our room, and we were locked out of our room at our original checkout time. Also, for our last breakfast, again our breakfast wait person was invisible. We served ourselves the coffee and orange juice. That's fine; they are too busy to provide drinks; I can do it myself. But don't dare auto-tip 20% on a meal when you haven't done anything. This is really bush league. I don't blame the employees. I'm pretty sure they aren't staffed adequately.
I may come back here, but only if:
1) It's not that crowded so not worried about losing parking
2) Can find local restaurants to have meals instead of resort restaurants
3) Can get deals on tee times
ORIGINAL:
Some mixed feelings about this resort. The facilities are good. The pool area is far too small, but the gardens, lawns and 18 hole putting course on real greens are great. Slick Rock is a nice course.
Many of the people who work at the resort were very nice and helpful. But there were also some people who weren't helpful, or were too busy or overworked to be helpful. My bartender in the Lantana Saturday afternoon was awesome. Our waitress on Friday night in the Lantana restaurant was wonderful. But we also had a breakfast waitress at the Lantana take fifteen minutes to bring our coffee; we ended up getting it ourselves. But for all buffet meals the restaurant auto-tips 20%, even if they haven't bothered to show up at your table.
So I think to enjoy this place you'd need to accept these things up front. You'd be certifiably crazy to fly here for a vacation. In my opinion one of the main advantages of this place is that Texas folks can drive here and save air fare, and still get that resort feel (but only if you plan to be really active and not plan this as a relaxing beach-type vacation). But if I had to fly here, I'd just go to a Playa del Carmen resort that was all inclusive and spend less. A long vacation here would be very frustrating for me.
The resort itself is beautiful and the day staff are nice, but the accounting department and night staff are jokes. I will start with the good:
1. Food - we went for New Year's 2013 and had the chef designed meal and were very satisfied. The Moscato was slightly bitter instead of sweet. I think dinner was too pricey at $190 per couple. We ordered room service for breakfast and were surprised by the portions. Lunch at the cafe was nice also. Eat on the patio if you have the chance! It is gorgeous and has fire pits.
2. Condos - very high class and had great views. Though not unobstructed like the website leads you to believe.
3. Views - nice Texas hill country landscapes and a beautiful drive up 281 N from San Antonio.
4. Grounds - the amenities were fantastic, though they don't open until 12PM. We had fun on the basketball court, walking through the grounds, and playing lawn checkers. My fiance said the golf course was adequate. We missed out on riding the bikes around the grounds, but that seemed like it would be fun. The pool was beautiful and heated.
5. Friendly people - the guests were friendly. Luke, the driver, was great. He was funny, professional, and helpful.
6. Day staff - they were accommodating and kind. Especially Philip, the manager who comped our dinner and adjusted our check out time to 2P because of the issues we experienced.
The bad:
1. Phone rep - was told the dinner was paid for at 12P on Dec 31. We found out later she hadn't pre charged it. And also failed to reserve our spot for the reservations only dinner.
2. Dinner wait staff - was told our reservation did not exist, but they would accommodate us. The hostess gave us a blank stare, picked up some menus, and silently spun on her heels and walked to a table. Never saying "follow me" or "right this way" or any other phrase indicating we should follow her. Once seated, it took 20 minutes before someone asked if we had been helped the first time. About 5 minutes later, another waitress asked if we had been helped. A few minutes after, a third and final waitress asked if we had been helped. The third waitress was nice and friendly, but forgot to bring out our dessert for the PREDETERMINED menu. We received it after asking for it.
3. Accounting and inadequate customer service - was called at 11:45P on New Year's Eve to take care of the dinner bill that we thought had already been covered. I asked if it could be taken care of at check out and she said no. I said that if it was that urgent, I would give her my card number over the phone which turned out to be a BIG mistake. Dinner was supposed to cost $190 along with 2 bottles of wine for $72 and a pre-added 20% gratuity charge for a grand total of $314.14. My card was charged $650. Because of the poor customer service we received and harassment over our bill at almost midnight, the manager, Philip, told us he would comp the meal and only charge us $338.86 (for the room, golf, lunch, and breakfast) and that MY card would be removed and my fiance's card would carry the charges. I checked today and noticed my card was charged $66.86 and my fiance's card was charged $500 in 3 separate charges. When I called to have that taken care of, the phone rep said accounting had added a New Year's Eve package to our bill and that is why we were being charged $228 extra. As of 1/6/14 I am still waiting to find out how this will be resolved, wondering exactly WHEN I was given the opportunity to experience this "New Year's Eve" package, and feeling like I just handed my credit card information to criminals.
My suggestions are pay in cash, don't give out credit card information fleetingly, and DO NOT leave without an itemized receipt to protect yourself (yes, I do have mine). Also, Philip (the manager) and Luke (the shuttle driver) are wonderful.
Always the best time here. No matter what the season there is always an event to attend if you want or not. Plenty of things to do and always clean.
We flew into Horseshoe Bay for dinner at Lantana. The resort picked us up at the airport at 830pm and drove us back at 1100pm. Excellent experience. Will return again soon.
We stayed in a 2000 dollar a night villa. It was dirty and we ran out of toilet paper and are trash cans were always overflowing and house cleaning never emptied the trash can. They charged us for 5 air mattress that we didn t order and then locked us out of our room cause they thought we wouldn t pay we climbed through the window to get back in and had a police escort. It was AWFUL and customer service was the worst I have ever experienced and now I don t want to go into any hotel every again. PTSD I would give 0 stars but that s not an option
I was here for the TCA 2019 conference and this resort is amazing I recommend it for a conference or a family vacation! Amazing resort location amazing grounds loaded with fun affordable things to do for families and singles and business executives!
Very enjoyable. Weather did.not dampen my spirit. Hope to return again during the spring or summer.
Great resort! We stayed at the Palm villas as we had our dog with us. Superb grounds, great food and a lot to keep you occupied with.
Really enjoyed the resort. The yacht club pool was awesome.
Food at Yacht club very good and staff at hotel friendly and professional.
Resort is absolutely gorgeous. 4 parrots are on the property as well
Beautiful place with a lot to do! Very nice staff and great aminities.
Not exactly what was advertised. I thought we'd have a room with a patio as shown in the pictures. It's more like being in an apartment.
Palms villa is spacious n comfortable. Cleaning not so much. Mirror full of dust, kitchen sink had mold, stained towels , holes from hanging something on the bathroom wall
Ultimate Texas getaway! Everyone was so helpful and accommodating. The staff went out of their way to make us feel safe and the resort is practicing strict social distancing policies.
Had a fabulous time! Accommodations, restaurants, staff/service and resort property all 5 stars!!! You feel like your in a Tropical paradise. Very well kept. Beautiful golf courses and an indoor play area for kids that they will definitely enjoy. Will definitely come back and recommend to others.
Honeymooned here. I loved all the turtles and the lady at the gym was a delight.
I surprised my mother with a trip to your resort for the Mother's Day weekend. I had fairly high expectations based on the prices and promises of the phone rep and website. From the time I booked the experience (over the phone with a rep), to the day of departure, I was consistently let down and disappointed by the ignorance, rudeness and lack of customer service skills by ALL of the staff (hotel, bars, spa and marina). Being a resort with a lot of facilities, amenities and events, the staff at all of the locations knew nothing. It's like I had to go online, do my own research, call the facility and verify for every little detail we wanted to do, in which I was consistently let down when it wasn't correct. When I approached a staff member, they acted inconvenienced by my questions and inquiries - every time. Our dining experiences were the worst - wrong orders, unable to answer questions about the dining options, terrible wait staff, unclean tables, etc. I felt as if none of the staff members were trained on etiquette, courtesy, resort information and especially customer service. In addition, one of their premier facilities - the yacht club pool and beach - were closed for renovation. Not once during while booking the resort package or during check-in, was that mentioned to me. Never once did the staff members help find my mother and I events to attend, activities to do, offer making reservations for dinner/mothers day brunch (which I wasn't aware of until the morning of, in which it was too late to make a reservation). Overall, I am severely disappointed and let down by our experience at the resort. The best part of the trip was leaving the resort to eat dinner at "On the Rocks" restaurant down the street, which had superior service, food and ambiance. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends or family, especially for the insane amount of money I shelled out.
Nice relaxing short vacation. Be prepared to spend too much on food since the closest place to eat is 15 miles away in a different city. The food was OK rooms were spacious environment was welcoming.
We are having a blast!!! Love this place. Drinks are expensive. Beautiful resort and great amenities.
The views of the lake are beautiful. The rooms are nice. The service is excellent; it feels as if I run into a helpful employee every 75'.
I had never been there before a recent work meeting. Very nice! I would like to see it when the lake is warm enough for boating fun.
Loved staying here. What a great place for families or for a conference. They have something to offer for everyone and if you want to adventure out beyond the resort, it's near Marble Falls or Llano, and just a bit farther down the road to Austin. Definitely worth another trip for a relaxing getaway.
Loved this place but really miss our sister and brother-in-law.
Fabulous resort, great family friendly location and plenty to enjoy without having to leave the resort
everything is slightly dated but the people are super nice
