Only used the golf course and bar/reception.Young staff were very good and attentive and arranged everything we adked for.Golf is very good and normally quite so no waiting on every tee.It is a long walk so beware.Almost 15k steps on pedometer.5 and 6 holes are stunning and also 11th which is a long par 5.There is also a stunning long par 3 on the back 9.Greens and fairways are excellent.Tee boxes need repairing is my only grumble.Worth a trip out for a reasonable price.

Grounds are nice. Hotel is a bit tired looking. Grey haired lady in restaurant is quite rude and abrupt. Seems upset when you ask her for anything. Breakfast was also poor the fruit platter was tired looking.

Only used golf course. Not bad condition and a good physical test if walking. Some pretty holes with Autumn leaves changing colour. Quite heavy going when wet. Some 150 yard marker posts would be a useful addition as many of the distance disks are difficult to see. A clay soil is difficult to remove from trolleys as the pressure air cleaner is way past its best and needs renewal/mending. Club house OK with food serviced from the hotel. No cutlery available with our bacon roll. Pleasant if slightly remote staff.

If you stay at heythorpe park resort definitely upgrade your room to the old Manor House itself. You get full period manor features, massive en suite room, open roll top bath and stunning views of the grounds. ( Well worth the slight increase in price.)

There stay, wine and dine package is really good value for money. The Food and especially the service in the restaurant was excellent for both evening meal and breakfast. ( However there actual weekend package rate price does need to be made more transparent on there web site! )

Could not fault the swimming pool, and all the leasure facilities included in the hotel price.

Room service is really quick and Wendy the reception greetings manager will ensure your looked after and feel welcome.

Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 was light sprinkling of dust on mirrors and tops of services in room and abit of confusion at main reception when booking in due to the room upgrade, however it was soon rectified and certainly didn t spoil our stay.

Overall really good hotel with beautiful grounds and highly recommend staying there.

We stayed here for a wedding, and it is a very lovely place. We stayed in a BIG room (Eldon) and that s all that is positive about it. Shower had THICK black mold coming out of the shower head that we didn t realize until after our showers. They only supplied one bath robe, and the room was HOT. Our pillows were the hardest most uncomfortable pillows of any hotel I ve stayed in. The food selection is ok, a place of this caliber you would expect 24/7 in room dining and maybe just a bigger/nicer selection of food. I m sure there are more things I am kissing, but I would conclude that I would not stay here again.

Overall the staff was very nice though, and the grounds and house are fabulous. Was a very lovely place for a wedding.

Overall a nice stay. Beautiful grounds, clean, great swimming pool (20m so I actually had a decent swim). I had a room in the Archer wing and although it was nicely decorated and clean, there was no air conditioning contrary to the advertised amenities on Google Maps. I asked the reception for a fan but they had none left.
Gym is small but ok they have tried to put as many equipments in as possible including free weights. No wifi or phone signal in the gym though (at least when I visited) maybe the manager forgot to turn it on?

Just spent 4 days here. Quite a nice place, the grounds are beautiful and some of the spaces in the manor house are stunning. The corridors are all a little run down and could do with some TLC. Food on the first night in the restaurant wasn't exactly perfect. There isn't much choice and the menu is slightly protentious. The meal we ate in the bar the 2nd night was much nicer. We also had trouble connecting to the WiFi. We advised reception about it every morning and evening and were advised each time that they would get it sorted. They didn't. Breakfast was rather disappointing. Some relatively low quality sausages and bacon that was mostly fat. Other than that, we had a great time, and were able to use the hotel as a base to explore the area.

Lovely grounds and setting, food was lovely and the staff were attentive and friendly. Only downside was the bar prices but that's to be expected in this kind of venue and the bar staff could maybe smile now and again? Other than that, a great experience.

I was there for a conference thus we were possibly looked after to a higher level. None the less the hotel is beautiful and the room I was in was clean and tidy. Some have mentioned on other sites that it looked untidy and in need of some TLC. To me that was already being addressed as there were painters in the lobby area doing just that. The areas I passed through looked in good shape. Certainly worth a visit.

Facilities were sublime and the staff were very helpful. Very expensive food but the quality matches the price. The scenery around the hotel was simply breathtaking as you can see by the photos. The gym and swimming pool was included in the price of purchases which was a massive bonus for me.

The COVID measures are very well conducted and were visible throughout our stay.

The hotel does need some touching up here and there, and the age of the infrastructure and decor is apparent in some places of the hotel.

We had a bad experience with the first room that was allocated to us, which had a terribly loud noise from the air-conditioning, even though we turned it off on the computer interface. We had to be moved to another room at 4:00 in the morning which did ruin our first morning by waking up really late. The staff were very helpful but due to covid could not help us with our luggage which is understandable.

Overall I did enjoy my stay, but some major mishaps did occur denting my view on the holiday we had.

My husband and I spent one night at this hotel and it was the worst of all the hotels we have ever stayed in.
we had to ask to change rooms because was a wasps outside the window.
Corridors full of food outside waiting for the room service to clean almost all day.
Hotel dirty, rooms smell musty, and breakfast was the worst of all the things, we prefer to go to breakfast somewhere else, what a shame because the build outside its beautiful but certainly no worthy and we will not coming back.
We are glad we didn't choose this hotel for an especial occasion, because we would have been extremely disappointed.
I really would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Didnt have the best start to stay. Was given a key to the room, only to find someone else naked in it. After reporting it to reception was given a key two doors away. Wasnt happy as this is embarrassing for both parties. Was given another room. That was smaller with a wall, felt like I didnt want to stay after this. Spoke to manager on site, who moved us again and gave us a free drinks voucher. Worst experience I've had in a hotel. Room was tired and run down, clearness was poor because the manager was great I didnt want to complain again after the move. As she had to deal with lots of complaints from other people. Hopeful after the new owners take over they will restore the resort of this hotel as the grounds is beautiful.

Did not spend time at the hotels as this was my husband's golf day out. So as far as the golf course course goes, he said it was great and had one to two hard holes. So very good golfing.

Beautiful location, needs updating chairs in dining room require urgent attention. To access Spa you need to come out of building . ok if it is sunny not quite the same when it is raining!

Was probably very nice.......... once upon a time.

I stayed in the manor house wing of the hotel in the Shrewsbury rooms. This side of the hotel seems to have been forgotten since the new, more modern, wing was built and is now looking dilapidated.

Paint is peeling off all of the windows, the shower had seen better days, the room had no air conditioning, and there was a general feeling of a lack of care.

The food was poor. I ate in the main restaurant on the first evening and wasn't impressed after being served dry chicken and a tasteless sauce. On the next two evenings outdoor catering was provided and on both occasions the food was bland and barely warm.

Some of the senior staff seemed disinterested and like anything out of their norm was a chore, however I cannot fault the service of the junior staff, waiters, and bar staff.

Would I return? No. Which is a shame because the hotel has so much potential, and was obviously once top quality, but since leaving the Crowne Plaza group there has obviously been a lack of investment in the upkeep and maintenance of the main house and surrounding buildings.

Shocking from start to finish to be frank. My partner made a request for a bottle of wine and two glasses to be taken to the room prior to our arrival as it was my birthday weekend. Request was confirmed via email but nothing in the room when we arrived. When questioned, the gentleman on reception was rude and argumentative and pretty much made my partner out to be a liar. Even when shown the email he was more interested in arguing than rectifying the problem.

Table service in the bar was appalling. Left waiting for drinks for over 20 minutes and another couple next to us had the same issue. Very disorganised.

To top it off we were rudely awaken at 7:30am by the fire alarm going off, dozens of families with young children standing out in the rain only to be told it was a fault.

This establishment advertises itself as being luxury and opulent. Laughable. Will not be returning.

The hotel is a good conference centre. However, on three visits, the food is always disappointing. The bar is relatively cosy. Best to stay in the new part of the hotel rather than the old, based on the available amenities.

The hotel is not up to the standards I would have expected and I would not recommend staying at this place.

When you arrive it looks beautiful and although I am here for a work conference I had two nights in the hotel and was excited.

Check in was not a problem and the reception was friendly. Trying to find the room however was difficult as signage is someone lacking and descret. I stayed in one of the newly refurbished doubles and I am not quite sure how newly refurbished the room actually is. The first impression of the room is OK and it's small but has everything that you need and has many many many a mirror to try and make the room feel bigger, however some of these are off-putting as you there is a mirror slanted down running alongside the bed so you can see yourself lying in bed.

Within my room I have two lights that don't work, two broken lampshades, multiple cobwebs and a very loud air on system. But saying that the room was comfortable I slept OK and didn't need the extra lights so not really a biggie.

The issue I have with the hotel is the absolutly dreadful catering. The quality of the ingredients and options of food are shocking and reminds me of lidl back in the early 1990, before they improved and now have better food than this hotel. I am a veggie and do tend to find that the minute I head outside of London I am treated like a second class citezen and this hotel lived up to this! The lunch served at the event was a clearly frozen own brand veggie burger, in a wimpy style bun with chips. Whilst you go that the organisers picked this menu they didn't pick the quality and I am sorry but macdonalds does this far superior and for half of the price.

The gala dinner I actually couldn't believe the nerve of the food and it the worst gala dinner that I have attended in my 16 year history in the events industry for catering and service.

It was highlighted on my name card that I was a veggie as I always preorder but that of course didn't stop the waiters three times trying to lay meat infront of me. The veggie starter they served sadly wasn't vegetarian, and when I asked the waiter about the jelly and whether it was veggie he said I think so, its not meat on plate. I didn't risk it and didnt like a few veggies on and around the tables, we didn't get to eat starter.

The main of course was not listed on the menu as us second class citizens do not get to know what we're having! On the table of 10 we had the stardard two veggies, when they served the mains they served 7 of the meat courses and left 1 meat course outstanding and the two veggies. They left us there with no food whilst everyone else ate and when the meat ester asked she was told, we are getting there with the others. She was served about 5 mins later and by the time the two veggies were served the rest of the table had finished eating. They served me a raw pepper, stuffed with vegetables including peppers, parsnips and carrots just chopped up... No sauce or other stuffing. With a side of Brussels sprouts, parsnips, peppers and carrots. The other veggie got the same however did have fondant potato as well. It was uneditable, bland, cold and the worst put together dish I have ever seen. I genuinely could not eat it and the gala dinner ended up having inedep waiting staff, unedable food and was the reason I am giving thsi hotel a 1 star.

Don't book it and the rooms can be forgiven but if its for an event they do not have a clue what they are doing, cannot cater for anyone not a meat eater and for your money you get a much better experiance for hotel in Premier Inn and event... Well anywhere else other than here!

We took the spa and tea package and all was excellent. The location, the spa, the facilities, the staff, the food. 10/10 for everything. Thank you Heythorp Park for a perfect leisurely day!

Went as a group of 4 for a golf break. Great value for money, food spot on as was the service. The grounds and the golf course itself are something special. Played two rounds, definitely worth getting a buggy for the 2nd round, as others have also said, it's a long one.

Booked as a conference venue it was second to none. Faultless service with plenty of parking. The staff can't do enough for you. Highly recommended

Overpriced, not up to the standard....beautiful grounds, though. We have been moved three times to different rooms and still ended up in a suite without heating. Temperature in the hallways around 24 degrees, when you open the doors to the More

stunning manor house and amazing well kept grounds. the best bit of my stay here was the treatments from Sophie and Holly in the "Spa" I'd give these ladies 5 stars. Sadly that's the only good thing to say.
The Spa area is very very small, and is just a small swimming pool, tiny steam and sauna rooms and 2 treatmemt rooms. Swimming pool attendent asleep in the corner. Most Bar staff rude and slow. Incorrect food order received. Dirty glassware in Bedroom. the whole hotel Doesn't live up to website photos and it feel short of expectations.
Ive heard that Warner are buying the Hotel and have a refurbishment plan which includes building a bigger and better Spa.

We went there for their special October half term Halloween event and it was lovely. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food and restaurant were lovely and we were looked after really well. There were lots of little extra touches that made our experience special. During the family film, staff brought round popcorn which was lovely and the sweets at the end of the treasure were beautifully presented in a special Halloween bag. The hotel is stunning and fun for exploring. The grounds are lovely for walks and we also enjoyed the swimming pool. Would definitely return.

Staff were very friendly, room was at the end of a wing so WiFi was patchy, clean but disappointed some plaster issues with ceiling and the double bed which appeared to be two twins pushed together was slightly uncomfortable with a gap running down the middle. Will stay again but will ask for a different room.

We had a room in the new section. It was large, clean and well kept. We were on a 60s break with GN holidays. The entertainment was very good and the food was also good. The only problem was we were not given a menu. It was a set menu but we didn't know what we were having until it was served. Also the bar was very expensive.

Lovely historic manor house hotel in stunning surroundings. The golf course could be better maintained to make it worth while. The Crown Plaza hotel is attached to one side and is a more modern option if that's what you're looking for.
I would recommend it for a romantic getaway, or for a spa / golf weekend with the boys or girls.

Not a bad hotel. Have been in far nicer ones but it was comfortable. However I had a bad fall on the decking, which left me with an extremely bad leg/knee. No one from the hotel asked if I was OK, if I needed a doctor - nothing. There lack of health and safety and simple customer service is very lacking.

Stayed at the hotel over the family fun weekend, staff were all welcoming and very polite and attentive, the food in the restaurant was very good and all included in the price, the grounds are lovely and we had a go at bowling and croquet.
Paul the manager was very welcoming and considering this was the first weekend back after 4 months it was a great weekend.

Really enjoyable stay, we went for a spa night with dinner and breakfast included, all 3 of us had back massages which were incredible! Food was very nice and the grounds were stunning to walk around even when it was cold!
Deco is slightly outdated inside and some areas need to be spruced up a bit but a lovely night away!

The reason for this low score was due to the hotel just re-opening with all the covid restrictions being applied. The staff were superb they were definitely under pressure because the hotel was very busy. Played the attached golf course, needs some work due to the closure and lack of rain. If you play this course a buggy is essential, not an easy walking course. Hopefully things will improve as time goes on.

DO NOT VISIT HERE!Unbelievably rude staff and leisure centre manager called Jamie. The venue is more bothered about making money from wedding ceremonies rather than people who book for the spa here.
Extremely unorganised from the very beginning.
Me and my sister bought a 3 treatment spa day for our mums 60th birthday and travelled 45mins to get there.
Heytrop park spa took our money 5months prior to the spa day itself and initially staff kept getting all of the treatments wrong and mixed up over the phone. The lady said all of your treatments were going to be in the afternoon and there was a confirmation email regarding chosen treatments, NO timings however. On arrival we did not get a friendly or a welcoming greeting at all and a lady with dark hair hair told us that we had all missed one of our treatments being a back massage. She said she rang us in the morning which turned out to be during the time that we were driving to get there.

The ground were very pleasant to drive through, the house itself impressive from the outside and the golf course looked reasonable, but we only went to use the spa facilities. We weren't guests, but the entry price was very reasonable even still.

The pool is a good size, bigger than most hotel spa pools, but the shallow end is a bit too shallow meaning you can't swim all the way to the end without scraping the bottom a bit.

The Sauna had two tiers and could accommodate 7-8 people easily, maybe 10 at a push, but the steam room really only had space for 3-4 people.

Sadly there is no hot tub/jacuzzi here which is probably my favourite thing in a spa. There was no cold shower after coming out of the sauna either.

I see no reason why this heythrop shouldn't be a five start resort with my personal experience and relationship with that manor unless of course there are hidden things the public need not know! It's an epic Edifice

Incredible grounds. Lovely room. The food service wasn't up to scratch but they certainly did thier best to make up for that and with covid issues, they can't be blamed fully.
I'd go back in a heart beat just for the beauty of it.

Really it is a bit tough not to offer five stars, so far the room is clean and well maintained, the staff have been really friendly, and dinner great value and tasty. The setting is magnificent, and they are working hard on social distancing.
One or two minor things, a couple of things that need fixing, but I would recommend it for a different experience in an amazing park.
