The hotel is not up to the standards I would have expected and I would not recommend staying at this place.

When you arrive it looks beautiful and although I am here for a work conference I had two nights in the hotel and was excited.

Check in was not a problem and the reception was friendly. Trying to find the room however was difficult as signage is someone lacking and descret. I stayed in one of the newly refurbished doubles and I am not quite sure how newly refurbished the room actually is. The first impression of the room is OK and it's small but has everything that you need and has many many many a mirror to try and make the room feel bigger, however some of these are off-putting as you there is a mirror slanted down running alongside the bed so you can see yourself lying in bed.

Within my room I have two lights that don't work, two broken lampshades, multiple cobwebs and a very loud air on system. But saying that the room was comfortable I slept OK and didn't need the extra lights so not really a biggie.

The issue I have with the hotel is the absolutly dreadful catering. The quality of the ingredients and options of food are shocking and reminds me of lidl back in the early 1990, before they improved and now have better food than this hotel. I am a veggie and do tend to find that the minute I head outside of London I am treated like a second class citezen and this hotel lived up to this! The lunch served at the event was a clearly frozen own brand veggie burger, in a wimpy style bun with chips. Whilst you go that the organisers picked this menu they didn't pick the quality and I am sorry but macdonalds does this far superior and for half of the price.

The gala dinner I actually couldn't believe the nerve of the food and it the worst gala dinner that I have attended in my 16 year history in the events industry for catering and service.

It was highlighted on my name card that I was a veggie as I always preorder but that of course didn't stop the waiters three times trying to lay meat infront of me. The veggie starter they served sadly wasn't vegetarian, and when I asked the waiter about the jelly and whether it was veggie he said I think so, its not meat on plate. I didn't risk it and didnt like a few veggies on and around the tables, we didn't get to eat starter.

The main of course was not listed on the menu as us second class citizens do not get to know what we're having! On the table of 10 we had the stardard two veggies, when they served the mains they served 7 of the meat courses and left 1 meat course outstanding and the two veggies. They left us there with no food whilst everyone else ate and when the meat ester asked she was told, we are getting there with the others. She was served about 5 mins later and by the time the two veggies were served the rest of the table had finished eating. They served me a raw pepper, stuffed with vegetables including peppers, parsnips and carrots just chopped up... No sauce or other stuffing. With a side of Brussels sprouts, parsnips, peppers and carrots. The other veggie got the same however did have fondant potato as well. It was uneditable, bland, cold and the worst put together dish I have ever seen. I genuinely could not eat it and the gala dinner ended up having inedep waiting staff, unedable food and was the reason I am giving thsi hotel a 1 star.

Don't book it and the rooms can be forgiven but if its for an event they do not have a clue what they are doing, cannot cater for anyone not a meat eater and for your money you get a much better experiance for hotel in Premier Inn and event... Well anywhere else other than here!
