Great golf course and great value, will definstely be back.
Great golf course and great value, will definstely be back.
Cosy and quaint but also outdated and with small rooms. Would suit anyone who is looking for a weekend getaway, but you will be needing your car.
What a place....brilliant great food and friendly staff.....even in these unusual times will be going back in a few weeks
Prestigious venue for weddings, parties and events with multiple halls and rooms and ample vehicle parking.
Did a Warners Break. Food and entertainment terrible. Never again
Hugely impressive building, nice venue for event, or just as a hotel
My first visit to this Resort. It is very beautiful and a relaxing place.
Nice rooms. Hot Showers and the bathroom is not too small. I appreciated having everything from bar soaps, liquid soap, shampoos and lotion. The AC was not fully working (not all sections have AC). I also did not appreciate the fact that the iron was not working. When I requested an iron to the front desk, I was told "we will have it sent immediately", however, I never got an iron.
The place is also not well marked. For a high end resort, you'd expect well marked room numbers and buildings. The gym is unmarked and finding your way around the rooms is quite confusing.
Worst hotel I have ever 'nearly' stayed at. Do NOT stay here. The website could not portray a different picture to what it is in reality any better! The whole place is completely run down & on it's last legs. Complete lack of funding. This place probably was beautiful once upon a time but not now. If your up for terrible cold microwave food, 1 star bedrooms & feeling like your the only people staying in the whole derelict venue then please go ahead. We left after an hour of checking in!
We played a round of golf here on a mid-October day and the course was in great condition. The staff working in the shop were very friendly when we arrived and we were made to feel welcome. We walked the course but the few other groups we saw playing all seemed to be in buggies. We'd walk the course if we play again as it was a very enjoyable walk. There are some long walks between holes and the course is quite hilly - probably why a lot of people were in buggies!! I'd recommend playing this course as it was excellent value for money. Hope to see you in the near future! Thanks, Kev
The grounds are lovely but the rooms and facilities are very average and desperately need to be refreshed. For quality of sleep I would put-1 if possible matters was like a long of wood absolutely no lower back support and the pillows like a bricks that just wouldn't fit between you neck and head. Food average at best. Customer service well staff didn't really bother to interact with us beyond the absolute necessary so I'm going to go ahead and say no comment.
Great staff and place from start to finish. Thank you for the over and above service to make my family gathering so good.
Only for golf. Tough course but in great condition considering the very wet week previous making it difficult for the greenstaff. Great peaceful setting
We had a great day outside on a big tent. It accompanied almost two hundred people with food, drinks and entertainment. The food was not different from a local pub. My expectations was bit high. The staffs were friendly to fulfill your orders but were in rush at the bar. It seemed they were not used to such a large mass. The toilets are very close to the hall.
It is located in almost isolated place but covers a very big area. The main building must have some historical importance as it is so grand and magnificent. I couldn't see the interior of rooms but looking at the furniture and interiors of main site, I can guess they must be quiet old.
It has its own golf course and archery areas. They have ample parking space. It is best suitable for organising party and wedding ceremonies.
Stayed in old manor house room. Stunning location, beautiful big room but let down by detail. Tiny TV, poor paint work, bed curtains hanging off and no usable mirror for drying hair. No robes, poor toiletries. Service was quite poor too, More
Clean rooms. But the whole place is run down. Outside looks like HMP which spoils the main house.
Lovely place to say nice rooms excellent friendly staff superb surroundings would highly recommend
Absolutely brilliant time.
Golf course is second to none.
The steak and ale pie was to die for.
Drink prices are very expensive.
Lovely kept grounds.
Room is very well equipped with everything that you will need..ie fridge, iron etc..
Team very polite and friendly.
Fantastic atmosphere, gardens make for a wonderful walk generally clean and tidy.
My colleague had his wedding there and it was a beautiful place with warm staff 100% recommend for weddings and receptions
The grounds are absolutely love, staff were amazing, we had Adina and she was just excellent both night and day. Loads of banter and cert attentive..
The Spa experience was great.. Leyla has a great team there.. Looked after me and girls we all felt great after.. Would definitely come back again..
The admissions staff over the phone not so great, caused confusion upon arrival..
The bar has great options and food was acceptable breakfast was a lot better.. No slippers and gowns as advised we would get.. But all in all worth it.
Stayed for a conference, staff and food great in beautiful surroundings
Had a great short break. Staff were superb. Breakfast excellent. Never been to this part of the country before but have thoroughly enjoyed it. Great weather has certainly helped.
Beautiful place, staff very welcoming. Harley were there for a bike show which was good timing. Room was very good.
Thank you for the most wonderful Christmas in these darkest of times! We were also celebrating my 70th birthday. The whole experience was fantastic- delicious food, attentive staff seeing to our every comfort. Good entertainment and enjoyed our Spa treatments. The highlight was the Hotel Director's guided tour of the manor house. Hope you can reopen before too long. We will be back!
Lovely stay and great night out with our Benchmarx crew
We had a fantastic day very good meal and entertainment really pleased
Stunning place stayed for 3 nights the staff are lovely
First time visit, room was lovely and clean, staff were more than helpful, and the food was great, will certainly return..
Great facilities, friendly reception staff and an exquisite ambience.
Nice hotel staff, terrible food and awful restaurant service.
Beautiful building I'm lovely grounds. I only went for a wedding fair so didn't see too much of the building but the parts I saw were lovely
Spa day with tea. Tea was delicious with good (if slow) service. Spa treatments (staff) great. Facilities not really up to standard, compared with other hotels. Very quiet everywhere, so a bit weird, but nice and calm and relaxing.
I stay regularly and find the staff polite and helpful. The hotel is located in stunning grounds, great for running around.
Stunning venue situated in a very remote part of Oxford.
Food was amazing, service fantastic and hotel room was perfect
We were three ladies on a spa day and had a really lovely time. Swimming pool is a good size for actual swimming and there is a sauna and steam room. We all enjoyed an excellent back massage. Only reason it isn't 5 stars is that the changing room floor is extremely slippery and people were nearly falling all the time and in fact one of my friends did land on the floor.
The cream tea in the main house is delightful, such grandeur. The food is excellent.
Great conference facilities. Mass catering food very good too. Rooms in old part of hotel are very different (old!) but in new part, very good.
Amazing beds are so comfortable
Loads of places to explore
The swimmimg pool is amazing
The play park isn't very good
Just had fantastic golf & spa break at Haythrop park, cant fault it, staff were very polite and extremely helpful, Golf course is a real treat some stunning holes and beautiful scenery, the main house has a charm all to itself and the new part is very nice.
We cant wait to go back:)
I am always amazed when I read some reviews and wounder if these people have actually been to the place!! Pay them no heed!! this place is great and the bad reviews says more about the reviewer than Haythrop park, honestly this a wonderfully peaceful setting and so close to some amazing places to visit you cant fail to enjoy it.
5 stars are not enough.
We went for the golf, which did not dissapoint. Its very long which for our handicaps, was not a problem. But be prepared for long walks between holes. We measured our round at 8.4 miles.
I would definitely recommend staying here
The rooms are in urgent need of refurbishment and disappointing to see large holes in the roof of the corridor. Food is good and staff are friendly but feels a bit unloved. The road in is also a pot hole nightmare so they don't give you a great impression when you arrive.
Great value golf holiday. Greens and tee boxes need a little TLC but for the price you can't complain. Other courses in the area were closed because it was so wet but so grateful HP stayed open. Staff all friendly and helpful, would go back
Great value for money. Decoration of the rooms could improve. The rest, perfect.
Super grounds and nice rooms. Haven't used the restaurant yet but looking forward to it.would be lovely if the sun was shining.
Beautiful venue. Food was fine. Service was fine. Communication not great. Not ready for our planned arrival time. Didn't quite get the finishing touches right on a Christmas party for 100+. We expected more, especially for the amount of money they earned from our booking
Very nice place, the scenery and that manor house are out of the world; during the winter they are using the fireplace from the old house and it's so cozy, friendly staff... Place need more caring and the staff is overworked.. But lovely place visit the place during the autumn and winter.
Further to our earlier review, there were lots of children hence not being able to even use the swimming pool, if you're a couple looking for a nice relaxing quiet weekend, avoiding.
Sorry but that's the truth.
Excellent relaxing stay. Gorgeous location. Staff were friendly and accomodating. Alan you were a great source of the local history, thank you so much
We stayed in a lovely large room with all the facilities you need. Set in wonderful grounds.
Stunning place, came here for the day for a wedding, shame it was raining but that aside such a stunning venue. Would definitely visit again if I get the opportunity to.
Such a lovely place for a drink and chat following a baby naming ceremony
Went for a golf weekend with a group of friends and whilst the golf course is lovely it did not make up for the horrendous experience and customer service we received whilst eating here.
A member of our party was served a dessert with a shard of glass in!!
The dish it was served in had chipped before reaching our table, and unfortunately he didn't notice before putting it in his mouth and cutting his lip and tongue. We reported the incident to our waitress and she just took the dish and shard away, not even reporting it to the manager. When we complained again, it eventually took him 5 minutes to come over to us, where he proceeded to accuse my friend of lying and even smiling about the incident. After 10 minutes of arguing with him, he eventually offered my friend a free beer to make up for it, as if it would then all be forgotten. The manager then sarcastically asked if we needed to call 999, as if to make a joke about how severe the incident was / could have been.
This dessert could easily have been served to a young child and the outcome could have been far worse. I was shocked and angered by his response in the whole matter, I have never come across such a rude and incompetent manager in all my life.
The rest of the food was average at best, over cooked pork chop with under cooked, cold chips was the best of three options we were given on the set menu.
Nice hotel with good facilities but the buildings are a strange mix of old and new. They have tried to be sympathetic to the older period buildings with the new development but it hasn't quite worked. The hotel clearly has a business client in mind and if you are in personal time I would try elsewhere in the area as there are plenty of options with more character.
Bit chaotic and understaffed after shutdown but a great venue. Lots to explore.
Knocking a star off for the state of the playgrounds and breakfast waits.
Not enough stars to rate the experience.
Stayed over after a wedding reception so my stay was short. But this looks a very good place for time away with family and loved ones.
Excellent venue, perfect service from their staff. Visited for a large two-day conference with a tight and dense schedule and organisation and service were spot on.
Out in the country. Very quiet and peaceful. Friendly staff. Good place for a conference
Great hotel and grounds. Good base for exploring the Cotswolds
HeyThrop park Manor House,is beautiful house has its own grounds for those who would like to spend time enjoying the vista .
It also has a swimming pool which is lovely you could also play so many sports and have a jacuzzi.
Also the food was very good ,and the rooms well looked after ,and good service , we enjoyed our stay and plan to return .happy times .
Brilliant place, nice clean in countryside lots to do and see in around place
Lovely place and staff can't do enough for you.
Food amazing
Jesuit college turned country club. The wonderful looking swimming pool is only waist deep. Sauna was broken.
I recently stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with my wife and 3 children.
I was most impressed by the staff and how attentive they were during my visit. This experience started from the front desk until we left. We were most enthralled by the staff during breakfast and dinner. They were always welcoming and despite having two weddings taking place over the weekend we saw no disruption in the service. I must give a special mention to a gentleman named Carl in the dining area who even before I arrived ensured the kitchen had food to meet my special dietary requirements. He also made breakfast and dinner a very enjoyable experience.
Having 3 young children sit through dinner and breakfast can sometimes be a difficult experience but I have to give credit to all the staff at the hotel who made the experience welcoming and made us feel at home.
We also had a spacious bedroom and the hotel generally looks very impressive internally and externally.
I would like to thank the hotel for my recent stay and please keep up the good work.
Great venue for conferences, everything under one roof ...only downside is the food...it's unbelievably bad
After nearly 10 years since our last visit, i went there 3rd May with my wife for our 7th Wedding Anniversary. Well, where do i start.Apart from the gloomy looking reception girls, everything else was spot on.
I asked for a quiet room, we didn't get one as there was a baby next door, I mean, 1 night away from the kids and we get put next door to a crying baby?
So i went to reception and asked for a room change. Upon initial look they had no spare rooms, but Dave took the lead and upgraded us to a junior suite - what can i say - excellent customer service and totally understood why we went there in the first place. A really nice guy who did his utmost to help us.
I then asked one of the bar staff for a champagne bucket as i had a bottle of bubbly for my other half - not a problem at all.
The restaurant booking was great, food was great, service was great...breakfast the next day was the same, even though they were very busy everything was nailed on.
All in all a lovely night away and i would recommend staying there without any doubts. We will definitely be back and with more of the family - nice work guys, really well done...
I was very impressed with this hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful. Food for both breakfast and dinner was of a good quality, and the spa treatments and facilities were wonderful. The room was very clean, all amenities were present and thought of, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. If you want to escape to the middle of nowhere for a couple of days I would highly recommend.
However it truly is in the middle of nowhere, and I would not recommend driving there at night, because the lighting on the way to the hotel was appalling, could not see anything past my headlights. Great escape, if you need to relax.
Brilliant stay, room was spotlessly clean absmd management and staff are doing all they can to ensure guests feel safe. with excellent distancing measures in place. Staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay, nothing was too much trouble. Dinner in the restaurant was fabulous. split for choice. I chose a sirloin steak in the end. which was cooked perfectly. Breakfast was cooked to order and staff are clearly managing well, new ways of working. A beautiful building and a great place to escape the stressed of COVID. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked again for October. So looking forward to a return visit.
On arriving at the resort we found that 2 weddings were taking place after being told on our previous visit which was extremely noisy that they would not be holding weddings anymore.
Our reservation was for a deluxe room in the manor house unfortunately this was not the case as the rooms were very tied and dated and not what could be classed as deluxe.
And yet again between the hours of 1.30-3.30 am unacceptable noise of wedding guests running up and down the corridors.
However our evening meal is the restaurant was very good as normal.
Played golf here today, great course to play, just needs some work on the tee boxes. Some challenging holes set in the lovely Estate grounds. Would highly recommend! Will be back in the summer.
This hotel is part of a 2 hotels complexe (with Crown Plaza) they share the restaurant and breakfast room. Heythrop Park is a 3* hotel and you'll see a difference in the quality of the rooms between Heythrop Park and Crown plaza) they are smaller and not as nicely made. Some rooms on the ground floor are blind or with opaque windows. The staff is friendly but in the breakfast room very few speaks a good level of English.
Heythrop Park offers an amazing view on a gorgeous park (pool, golf...)
Tricky one, Heythrop has always been a special place for us, having seen it under various guises for over twenty years. Under lockdown it's hard to get everything going but we were impressed with the great attitude of the staff and the food was good too.
Very nice but there is no mobile connectivity around there, and their Wi-Fi was down when I went. I assume they will have this fixed.
Lovely place to stay. Nice pool and Sauna. Wonderful place for a peaceful stay
Run down, checked out after 1st night of a two night booking.
Visited for my cousins wedding, really nice setting, great hotel rooms and friendly staff we had an amazing day here
A vast improvement from the last time I played it would seem that they now have greenkeepers working on the course excellent value for money
Good great, rooms very comfortable. Staff very friendly. Great 2 night stay.
A picturesque manor house with beautiful grounds. A lovely place to visit and the idyllic country setting makes it a really relaxing place to be.
Some of the staff were a bit unhelpful, when we asked how we could get money out for a taxi he said, most people do that before they get here. Thanks so much dude, really helpful.
Other than that the atmosphere is nice and congenial.
We stayed here 2 nights and overall liked it, although room for improvement in some areas. The room we stayed in was quite small and some areas of the hotel were in clear need of refurbishment and touching up as we're looking a bit worn and dated. However, nice to be able to use the spa facilities (although need more seats in there) and no complaining about the meal we had in the restaurant. Very nice. Also bed was V comfortable and not V noise at night.
Very unwelcoming, very out dated in places, food not great & a lot of the staff need a lesson in customer service. Very poorly run, never again.
Some of this resort is in need of refurbishment. Windows locked so have to use aircon.
Great service. Top class food and entertainment. Rooms were lovely.
We had a lovely stay. The room was very pretty and a good size. The pool and spa area was awesome and the area around the hotel is breath taking. Highly recommended place!
Secluded grounds and excellent rooms.
Tea served during breakfast makes a great change from weak or luke warm tea.
