The staff at this hospital are five star all the way!! Doctors are extremely knowledgeable and very professional, and probably friendliest nurses around. We were pleasantly surprised with the service we received from the ER and being admitted for two days on the 10th floor. Thank you so much getting my mother stable and talk such great care of her!

I am very happy with the treatment my granddaughter had but I would like to know the names of the orthopedics who operated on December 24th her name Gretchel. If they are so kind and could answer me thank you for everything
25 years ago Grady Hospital saved my life. I was 15 yrs. Today, Grady is saving my son's life. He had a terrible motorcycle accident. We've been here 5wks, & Dr. Ingram & the staff in the burn unit is extraordinary! " If it is btw life & death, you better pray they are taking you to Grady Memorial Hospital!" Chanel Cox
Horrible my wife threw up after surgery .48 hours after the vomit is still in the floor.the nurses are unprofessional rude and disrespectful.they do not help with pain I can go on longer but just do not deliver your baby here dont come here period
This review is for my brother George Hudson. One of Grady's employees, Tiffany James went above and beyond to help him get his medications. He wanted me to do a review so she could be recognized for her exceptional service.
This hospital, in my opinion, still has a lot of growing-up to do to be on par with the other hospitals in the city of Atlanta. However, we need this place badly. It serves its purpose. It may not serve it super well, but it does serve it adequately.
The man that checks people in to go in the back very rude. All of the receptionist in the emergency room rude. They could have just shut the the hostpital down, they need to work on making customer service.
The waiting times here are ridiculous. I had to wait 10 hours to get an asthma treatment and prescription. I was told I had "one person ahead of me" for literally an hour.
ER staff that I encountered had horrible bedside manner. Horrible communication skills and tried to give me multiple meds without telling me what the were or were to trea . They were dismissive and I left with more questions than I came with and I'm sure an insane bill.
The staff here at Grady today is very disrespectful. I been sitting here for hours, waiting on my test for my lungs and it takes only 30 for the X-ray to come back and some of the people that came in after me went back and then left. I told them that my chest is still hurting and they didn't do nothing. Talking about it's a 5 hours wait and I been here like 6 hours already. I will never come back here
While I cannot speak for the rest of Grady hospital, I can state that the emergency psychiatric unit is littered with nothing but malpractice. From abusive staff members to unwarranted and harmful forced anti psychotic injections that cause allergic reactions, this hospital causes great trauma to not only the patient, but to the patient's family as well. I look forward to filing a malpractice claim.
I had to visit the acute care sickle cell and the experience was terrible 12/27/19 at 10:30pm first off let's start by saying i been coming to grady for 34 years and years in 34 years old so u understand i was born at grady but my visit to the acute care on this date was terrible and when i come to the center i have to really be hurting alot or i deal with it at home but first arrive at the clinic they was full ots understandable the wait but this wait wasn't due to lack of bed it's was due to lack of work the CNA on shift that night was was obvious concentrating on facebook and playing his game instead of getting things done you have the nurse she's trying to walk around and be cute instead of being a nurse now i came in at 10:00 didn't get seen until 11:30 due to them playing around and not wanting to work now when i finally got in the room i asked for water because i was dehydrated and i knew if they tried to stick me they wouldn't been able to get a van which they had to stick me four times but if they would listen to me and gave me some water this problem wouldn even of happened so i came home with a swollen up arm not the issue that i'm writing this on its the way the staff treat ppl for one you don't tell no patient that they not important it's ppl more important than you only thing i ask for was a blanket cause i was cold and some water the cna was acting like that was to hard to do and the nurse said it wasn't important ok so i suppose to freeze cause y'all want to play on your phone now i want to say this the old staff DK Mareena RJ need to come back to the night shift cause the ppl you have now are terrible beside the young man that check me in he was caring and perfect but the nurse and cna need to be fired ran off property i'm not the type to complain but that was the worst visit i had and i never had a bad visit and i will be contacting everybody i can to get this some attention
This place is a complete joke. While on hold you get to listen to their "wonderful top notch healthcare." All the while your family member is in ICU and can't get any info on how they are doing, yet won't let anyone up to come and see them. NOW we have a follow up visit because of my mother's stroke. I am the only one available to take her, but I am a stay at home mother to a 1 yr old and I guess she's planning on giving the whole hospital COVID because they are terrified for me to bring her with me and mom to get her blood checked. COVID is real. But I'm not willing to live in a bubble the rest of my life. NOT TO MENTION my kids had it before it was deemed a WORLDWIDE EMERGENCY. Some doctors may be the best at their craft but common sense lacks among many. Don't the masks protect us all???????
The Grady Burn Unit was phenomenal to my husband. We arrived at 2am and once we made it to the back of the ER the care began. They treated his wounds with such care and really comforted him and respected our dietary restrictions. I have such respect for the work they do, especially serving populations that can t get private healthcare. They are superstars, and we will be forever grateful.
This happened yesterday, I had a Cousin in a bad motorcycle accident who died this Jamaican women keeps coming by telling us if we dont go in the room then they'll call security im like ''WHAT THE HELL'' Y'all cant respect the fact that we just lost someone close to us. they were very rude here never again
This is the far most WORST hospital ive ever experienced!! The Nurse on 5th floor named Evelyn was not professional at all. She nevee dispensed the medication at the right time. The Tech NEVER took the blood pressure of my daughter. They stay on cell phone as if they have no job to do. The charge nurse makes excuses for the nurses as if they were really doing their jobs substantially. NOTHING about this place is Proffesional and up standard!! Outside of this hell hospital is a bunch of Homeless ppl just laying around on the grounds and all across the street at the bus stops even through the day and nights!! Its really scary to go outside by yourself!! Ive NEVER in my life see anything like this in my whole years of living. Grady Hospital and Atlanta Ga. Need to clean those streets up and Keep it in a way that people arent afraid to visit there. I pray i NEVER have to go back to GRADY HOSPITAL for NOTHING.
I have to say as being a nurse myself what I have seen and witnessed at Grady Hospital is the worst I've ever seen. I informed my family if something ever happened to me that our local hospital couldn't care for me for them to take me to Piedmont Atlanta the care given from the majority of the nurses at Grady hospital is absolutely the worst I have ever seen it is worse than the care that you receive at a Skilled Nursing Facility. So if you have a stroke where you are unable to speak have delirium or confusion don't go to Grady because your loved one will be left with poor care or even death!!! When you ask for a charge nurse you won't get that you'll get another nurse that is covering other rooms to come and say may I help you, you get no where they leave things unattended. While my father has been there I have brought to their attn. 7 major things as in fluid overload, stage 1 pressure area, tachycardia, desaturation of oxygen, sleep apnea, urine retention in his bladder to the point of severe pain and then 4 days later dehydration!! Since my father had a massive stroke and can't talk so thank goodness I was there everyday and brought all of this to their attention as I was seeing it happen, so this is enough to let you know that the nurses definitely don't do their job!! Every single one of these that I brought to a nurse's attention and even the residence doctor they were assessed and found to be true this is very sad that me being the daughter having to do their job for them. If it wasn't for me being a nurse and knowing what I know he would have died from the dehydration since he was so symptomatic with EXTREMELY low blood pressure and completely lethargic.
Worst ER EVER ! My Girlfriend Went today because of a cracked tooth has been there for over 10 Hour and Counting. She was told that they would just help her with her pain and give her referral for a Dentist to remove the tooth! Over 10 Hours for a referral and she is still in so much pain!!!! My poor baby :( its hurtful to see her in such pain and they are not helping ! All this time she could have went somewhere else! It's crazy the doctor finally came and will give her a shot in her gums for the pain which is a relief but all this time wasted because there is only One ER Doctor (More Doctors Needed ASAP!!!!) Nurses Failed to give Attention when needed Except for One That Actually Tried to help. But once that nurse left, my girlfriend was Left Unattended For Hours. Not even to see if she passed out because of the pain.
Other patients were flipping out and given minimal Attention, We Were Patient for almost 10 hours and it was like we didn't even exist. In writing this post Doctor has not given shot yet it's going on 2 more hours now! Completely Unacceptable ! SMFH
I MUST GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE... THE ER DOCTOR MADE EVERYTHING BETTER! THANK GOD FOR SUCH A GREAT DOCTOR! Even with being Horribly Understaffed, He Managed To Put a Smile on my Baby's Face and Make Up for the 12+ Hours With his incredible Caring Charisma! So that Lone Star Is Definitely Deserved For The Nurse and Him Please Get more Doctors and Nurses Like Them! Thank you.
quite literally the worst experience i've ever had at a hospital. sat here for 7 hours and four of those hours were spent waiting to sit with the doctor for all of 10 minutes and another two hours waiting for discharge papers. if i were dying and this was the last hospital standing i'd rather kick the bucket. i'd probably do that anyway while waiting.
This is the worst hospital I ever been to I waited 12 hours and still didn't see a doc the staff was very rude and uncaring I will never go to this hospital again and don't recommend anyone else to go
My son was born here on May 29 three days ago and they are taking great care of us, thanks for having Grady Hospital. Congratulations to all the staff who work here.
These five stars are for Phoebe Sutton. She appears to be a receptionist at the orange pod or Primary 1L. I hate coming to Grady, they can be so mean and rude sometimes. So imagine my surprise when Ms. Sutton greeted me with a big smile and a beautiful "Welcome to Grady!"
I would give the rest of the staff one star for kindness and 4 stars for knowing their jobs.
Nurse Practitioner Tiffaney Pollard is good at her job but as mean as a snake and she doesn't listen.
The only reason I give this one stars because 0 stars is not option if you are a white person and you need help this is not the place to go if you will notice there are no white people working at Grady or at least none that can be found employees at the Clinics they don't want white people there either if they cannot get rid of a white person through their hatred and their verbal abuse they resort to lies to get rid of that patient they don't care what's worse is the executives at Grady do not care either they refused to answer telephones they refused to help anyone they refuse to see the problems and they refused to give a damn thing is if you have no income if you are disabled you cannot work you have no money and God help you have no family and no one to turn to and you have nowhere for support if they refuse to take you as a patient they also won't help you with medication and that's especially cruel to make someone suffer with their illnesses and not help them with their medication is one of the worst despicable things that can never be done to another human being sadly Grady has become a shining example of what is wrong with Atlanta racism is Alive and Well in Atlanta Georgia it is not the white man that is racist it is the black man who is racist there are neighborhoods in the city that whites cannot go without fear of being injured or hurt or Worse i challenge everyone to wake up it was not right in the sixties when blacks were abused it's not right and today when whites are being used I challenge Grady to equalize its Workforce to match that of the demographic population of Fulton and DeKalb County I doubt that'll ever do this happen though I also challenge them to talk with me help and get me my medication I also don't see that happening either for almost 3 weeks I have begged for help staff and executive still have their heads in the sand. When Executives refuse do their job properly how can you expect subordinates to do their job properly especially when lives are in the balance if I were a diabetic I would already be dead as it stands I am suffering in total pain not able to walk unable to get out of the house to get food to take care of myself anymore i have nowhere to turn this is the ultimate in hate that Grady seems to perpetuate and nurture I asked for the immediate removal of the CEO and Roselyn McLeod Grady executive director of ambulatory services both have which have done nothing to solve this problem and only worsen the problem I also asked for the removal of the director of patient family experience Department who played judge jury and executioner would not even speak to me or give me any form of due process once the lies came to her desk about me she is particularly cruel and that is not what it's supposed to be done in a medical center especially one that caters to the Indigent of this area discrimination was not right when it was done against blacks in the 1960s and discrimination is not right that is being done today in this new millennium I ask for everyone to boycott Grady until such time as these people have been removed from their duties and changes happen at Grady and they start to treat all people with respect and dignity that everyone deserves. Been flat out honest with the situation reversed and I were black man and they were white people at Grady they would close Peachtree Street and March for months I'm asking for the same thing our elected officials have been useless in this situation especially John Lewis cares no more about the white man that he does the garbage man I have on record asking for John Lewis to resign his office I have somebody to have the strength and I guts to help me so that I can end my suffering
Not even one star . You guys suck ! My wife comes in in more pain than you could ever even fathom , bleeding severely and irregularly , and you cant find anything wrong ? What ? I thought you were supposed to be among the nations best. Never mind the 15 hour ER waiting room experience before she even got anything to ease her pain. I will be in touch with my attorney, and every news agency in Atlanta to expose the truth and hopefully shut you idiots down for good . Once again , you guys absolutely suck!!!
Hi im jeffrey adair and this is all the first timers thinking about coming to Grady, just the other day was my first time 3/24/2015 to be exact and let me tell you when I arrive I wasn't a happy camper my face was burning it feel like lava inside of my skin I'm 6'4" 315 and I try my best to not tear up. I really couldn't notice how nice the staff were in the emergency room areas and the pain pill the nurse gave me it was really like aspirin to me but it was some kind of narcotic I forgot what it were, and when I went to I think it's call the Blue Zone the nurse injected me with some kind of clear liquid and it feel like I never had pain in my face and I finally notice how nice all the staff were they were so friendly one doctor complimen me on my shirt he just don't know it only cost $15 lol and I finally got a room to myself lol and the doctor came in to see me I think she said she was from Kenya super nice Dr the only thing confuse me she said she was a obgyn something like that you understand what I'm saying she was a doctor for females. when she told me what kind of doctor see were I said huh with a frown on my face and we just both start laughing it is shortly after that face began to burn again and the nurse gave me some more of that clear liquid stuff. Sorry I got off course but I just wanted to say all the staff that I came in contact with was amazing the only thing I don't understand why they didn't fix my face because I have some kind of mass what they told me to do a follow up Monday in the oral surgery so I'll let you know more of my experience after tomorrow whoever read this today please pray for me Thanks oh yeah I'm originally from Troy Alabama in we don't have service like this at that hospital
12hr wait, and still waiting. The poorest service in my life, If you can, and if your not dieing at the moment Please go somewhere else... This is the Worst and there is No Communication on the part of t hi is Hospital
Horrible!!! New to GA and I already HATE this hospital been in the waiting room for 3 hours w my preg sis in law and they yet to see her when she's been having contractions back to back . the worst service ever!!!! Then it smells horrible smh . yah need to step it up smh . horrible horrible horrible !!!! NEVER again will I come here nor will I ever choose this hospital , what a way to run the hospital and being new in the a area I was expecting better !!!!!
I took my daughter to Hughes Spalding because of a lump under her left breast. After waiting being seen I was told that she would have to go to Grady because Hughes Spalding could not drain the abscess. We are now sitting at Grady fours hours later after being at Hugh Spalding for four hours and the doctor tells us we need to come back in two days to see the breast doctor- he also told my daughter that she shouldn't worry about a painful lump.
Terrible customer service checked in at 2:30 p.m left 5 a.m this hospital don't give a damn about you unless your in serious trouble. I will never return unless I'm dying and didn't ask to come here.
Worst hospital ever. As I m sitting here been here since 2:20ish the patient has been here since 1:40ish it is how 5:00am!!! No updates on what we re waiting on or anything all I here is loud talking and laughing from the workers while patients are all around bc there s no rooms, the room is dirty there s nowhere to sit I m sitting at the computer on a rolling stool with my head on this stericycle box. Have to be to work less then 3 hours and no updates about what s going on. I wouldn t dare come here if it was the last hospital on earth. Go to north side. The nurse came in just to look literally not giving warm sheets or anything . Just a disgrace.
I been in the emergency waiting room for about 4 hours and I still haven't got seen! My arm feels like it's about to fall off, and when I ask them did more doctors show up? The nurse said there is more people in front of you and These people been in here for 6 hours and then some hours. I went on to ask do I have another 2 hours and she the nurse continue to state that it would probably be more! I actually believe the stories how people die in Grady emergency room.
Terrible! Been twice recently and they have no idea what's wrong with my leg. Doctor even admitted we have no idea what's wrong with you. Idiots for 2 weeks now I have been in a lot of pain with my leg. I can hardly walk without falling. Work is very difficult. And they said we have no idea what's wrong. O A come on back for a second time so we can make more money. Go somewhere else.
I acknowledge mistakes happen. On Thurs., Jan. 25th, 2018 floor 8B I was sleeping overnight with my Uncle and nurse Kelly walked into his room and started talking about organ donation (of another patient) to the respiratory nurse in my Uncle's room. When nurse Kelly was asked not to converse (about organ donation) in front of my Uncle nurse Kelly should have stop talking, walked out of the room & continued the conversation in the hallway. My Uncle did not know she was not talking about him! When she continued to talk to the respiratory nurse in the room after I corrected her it became disrespectful and thoughtless! When I returned to his room after telling the charge nurse Ms. Mary about nurse Kelly I saw tears roll out of my Uncle s eyes. My Uncle could not speak or open his eyes but he could hear us because he respond to commands. I was being his advocate. Studies show family should sleep overnight with their loved ones to be their advocate when they can t be for themselves. That last sentence may leave others to believe it was a victim thought but it was a thought to empower not diminish. I wanted corrective behavior (no not fired). It was no longer a mistake but disrespect when she continued to speak to the respiratory nurse. Nurse Kelly was taught how to do the right thing. Example, in nursing school there are classes to teach nurses about HIPPA, sensitivity training, etc & the nurse still choose to do something different. When you know better you do better & nurse Kelly choose not to do better. It was her responsibility to uphold what she was taught. The reason I gave four stars was because the rest of my Uncle's nurses was awesome & I did not want to tarnish their good by nurse Kelly.
It is a meeting for the Homeless they stinky and smell terrible . It would be a nice place if they didn't use it for Sheltering . You subject to catch any thing from them so take you some disinfected spray with you .
I was on vacation to see my family for the holidays. On dec 28 I walk in the emergency room with stomach pain and it was one of the worst experience I've ever had to dealt with. The staff are rude. The waiting process was hell. It is such a disappointment. Never again will I step foot there... rather die at the comfort of my home.
Honestly, the urgent care takes too long. There s no sense of urgency in this place. Been here since 10:30AM and it s already 2pm. There s no end in sight for the wait time. There is literally no one that I have seen that is trying their very best to do anything. Looks like they are just going through the motions.
My Mom broker neck... They doctor's did a miracle fusing c1 thru c5 she is healing great all of the nurses there are amazing wonderful experience for such a traumatic stressful time thank you to all that work at Grady.
GRADY HOSPITAL SAVED my Husbands life. He had an AVM deep in his brain that burst and suffered a stroke at 52 years old. Not only did they all take amazing care of my husband, They all took amazing care of me. He was on the Intensive care brain unit 8th floor. I was ASSURED the team of neurosurgeons were the best of the best with anything related to the brain in the country . My husband is PROOF of that !
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE affiliated with that Hospital. From the people that worked in the parking garage , Security, Secretaries, All of the staff in the Emergency room, Everyone on that 8th floor - ALL THE WAY UP TO THAT SURGEON.... Thanks to All of You, I have my Husband , Thank you will never be enough .
Amazing obgyn ER nurses. Great girl from the Philippines. Also a great IV team an African American woman found my veins easily and accurately. This was actually Emory where i was diverted to.
Got in a car accident. Everything down to the ambulance ride was a mess. They apparently "didn't get a call" and we were slow as hell. Got to the trauma center only to be waiting in line on a stretcher to be checked in. Nurses standing around texting, laughing, coming up on shift change i guess and patients were in pain. Some were standing. There wasnt enough room and the wait times were too long. They moved me off the stretcher onto a chair and they ended up forgetting about me. The nurse said she was gonna go get me some Tylenol for pain and never came back and the wasn't any flow of communication at all. Horrible. Just. Horrible.
My niece has been waiting for ankle surgery following a car accident for 2 days. The surgeon saw her on day 2 for 5 mins . The nurses have no answers and never return with any definitive answers or rationale. There's no tv, minimal electricity due to a water main break. Instead of staying on diversion they choose to run at peak levels after 1 week. They are more financially vested than patient vested. I know at times other people have had great experiences at Grady, but my experience was the worst. Please do not take me to Grady for anything. The day nurse also broke infection control protocol by replacing the used churros cap on the INT after she pushed pain meds. As a nurse this is a no no. When asked about it, she did not respond. What kind of hospital is it when you call a MD and they don't respond, are they that busy. I know the pressures on nurses, and I sympathize. But the doctors lack of concern makes the whole system look bad. SHAME ON YOU GRADY. Remove your lying commercials from tv.
I was born here and I am so glad that it's still a pillar of our community. Although it's infamous for the same thing it's famous for (treating the poor), I firmly believe that "Atlanta Can't Live Without Grady".
They have the best doctors, but they service sucks. They have people waiting for years. I was on the phone and one lady put the phone down, so I heard the whole conversation. Instead of answering phones doing there jobs they talking about boyfriends and laughing.
Been there not for my self but my mother, to my opinion, large hospital, terrible nurses but some not all. Need better cleaning stuffing, Emergency room is pass terrible the smell, will probably kill you first, before you can see the Dr, world greatest Doctors terrible food but remember hospital meal does not always the greatest so don't go expecting miracle but you can be sure counting on God, to find yourself a Dr there that can help you get well and recover
This has been the worst hospital visit of all times. We were here due to a car accident and taken to the Truma unit. After leaving ER and coming to the 7th floor, we waited with several other patients in an untidy storage room for 11.5 hours awaiting a room. No staff checked to ascertain if patients were given food or water. Staff members epressed a lack of care/ concerns The experiece was horrible indicating unprofessionalism, insensitivity, and most important failure to convey trust that love ones will be cared for with integrity. This experience was inhumane.. I
Going to Grady was my first and last time the wait was long I went in at 1 and didn't leave until 11 that night. But I've been told that the wait is usually longer. It was sooo many homeless people there it was just ridiculous I couldn't even sit comfortably because the smells was so horrible. But I gave it 2 stars because the staff did take their time and make sure that I was okay and to find out what was wrong with me. But the social services lady was helpful but awful at the same time because she wanted to make jokes about me and I wasn't in the mood.
They are trash and we have been here for 9 hours don't take your family here you'll die in the waiting room . A man had several seizures before they would see him if you love your family don't take them here because I'm still in here right now don't like what I wrote I'm here right now matthew hall call me out and I'll come right to you . And your parking staff are nasty bigots I came back to my hire around 4:14 and the white man that was standing there would answer my questions and cursed at me when I took his picture. Grady you are trash it's 7:55 and I'm still here when ever Grady is mentioned anywhere I will tell it all. Like how you send the people you've given drugs to back out into the waiting room instead of monitoring them. We have been here through 3 shifts and all 3 shifts was filled with bad attitude horrible people . I won't be back . Another update still here and it's getting worst the bathroom has fecies all over the floor so I gotta go to another floor.
Long wait.... but most were helpful and pleasant. All I've heard is horror stories. This was my first visit, I was not treated any different from anyone with insurance or turned away. They kept the waiting area and restrooms clean consistently.
Grady Memorial Hospital . Atlanta Ga . the place is nasty and the nurses don't care well. my mother in law is in intensive care and the room is always nasty . I never see the Doctor . I hope the new director help the hospital.
The wait was over 5 hours in the emergency room. They let you know when you enter that you could wait anywhere from 5-12 hours. The waiting room lacks air conditioning and air circulation. It was very warm in there. They seemed efficient until they sent you to the waiting area. I met people that were in the emergency room for over 7 hours.
I would like to commend a phone rep that help me with questions I had when calling the main line at Grady. Her name is Kieanna, she had a. Very pleasant voice and her phone skills and knowledge was OUTSRANDING. I know the phone lines can get busy and with irate callers. However, Kieanna opened the call with courtesy and poise. I really appreciate professionalism, because it getting to be more rare these days. Thank you so much Kieanna, keep up the GREAT work. Your CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS AWESOME!!
Urgent care was excellent, a couple of nurses seemed to forget they were nurses and lacked empathy though. The nursing staff on the regular overnight stay floor was horrible. The night shift nurses do try, the day shift is horrible, i was refused pain medication because nurse John worked on his off day and the sun was out. Dr. Moore Sr. orthopd, is awesome, I love me some Dr. Moore. The front desk in orthopd is professional and courteous most visits. Physical therapy staff is awesome. The intake for physical therapy is good most visits.
***Remember my words**** DO NOT WORK HERE if you are a nurse. If you think "well, it cannot be THAT bad" SLAP YOURSELF and apply elsewhere. This is NOT the "experience" you want. **Remember my words.***
"I wouldn't be here without Grady," you hear countlessly in Atlanta. This incredible Hospital saves lives under deep & dire circumstances. Grady is the 5th largest Public Hospital in the United States. The Trauma Center is America's busiest. I want to thank specifically the School of Medicine Doctors from Emory and Morehouse for providing consistent doctor and resident staffing due to lack of funding from the State of Georgia. #GradyStrong #GrandProud #WeAreGrady #Grady125
The wait in this hospital is absolutely ridiculous!!.. With or without insurance the wait is over 5 hours, however, the nurses and the Doctor was extremely professional & pleasant... Every last one of them...

Absolutely terrible hospital. My mom fractured her jaw and could barely speak. She kept requesting for nurses that never came. It s been 24 hours and she was supposed to be moved to a private room upstairs, instead had to spend the night in the loud, completely open trauma unit. Rude reception and staff. Don t go into the medical field if you are going to get stressed and take it out of patients. Your job is literally to care for others, act like it.
My son who has Sickle Cell Anemia was recently admitted into Grady Hospital. This was his first time being admitted there. This was the worst experience we have ever had at any hospital. He was kept in the Sickle Cell Acute Center from 5:30am until after midnight until they got a room ready for him on the 10th floor. 10A to be exact. The staff on that floor was terrible and very rude. My son had another young man in the room with him whom also suffers from Sickle Cell. The staff was very rude and unprofessional to him. They only gave him pain meds to keep him quiet. They ended up calling a Code on him one night due to the staff just pumping pain meds in him and that's all. The very next night they had to call a code for my son because they damn near overdosed him on Fentanyl. It took one particular nurse to actually listen to me and she jumped into action. At that point he was moved to the 12th floor which is known as the Step Down floor. Basically ICU, but not quite ICU. That entire hospital is very Nasty and Dirty!!! I felt dirty the whole time he was there. I didn't want to leave him there alone. Grady may have good medical treatment, but the overall maintenance and up keep of that hospital needs some improvements quick! I'm just not impressed with Grady at this point. I know they are the doctors, but I have been taking care of my son for 21 years. Sometimes it's best for the staff as well as doctors to listen to the family. They may know medicine, but we know the history of the patient more!! As i'm sure we will be there again, I just hope that the next hospitalization will be better than the first.
The ER is staffed with soulless, jaded, apathetic jerks. I'm not even using hyperbole. Everyone in the ER is as slow and inattentive as they are callous. It took me 3 days to get to a floor.
However, once you get past the ER the hospital and the staff are wonderful. They can literally do anything at this hospital because they have residencies from multiple medical schools. I went to Emory and Atlanta Medical and they had a kind ER staff and were completely inept. Grady was the only place to figure out what was going on with me.
Every time I go to Grady they show me awesome favor and provide great service. It takes a special kind of nurse and doctor to handle the colorful people that come to Grady and I appreciate each and every one of them. Thank you Grady for always taking care of me and making me feel better!
I was a nurse in a psychiatric hospital and we had to send ill patients to Grady on several occasions. If they were admitted it was impossible to get a report on our patients. The nurses were from another country and did NOT want to be bothered. When asked to report on our patient they would state,"He's fine. He's eating." That is not a nursing report and I told a nurse that. She did not like it. She stated she couldn't give me a report. I told her to talk to her charge nurse, she did and then did give an appropriate report. We sent aids with our patients and the nurses would try and get them to do their work which would be illegal. Our aids would not do it, thank goodness. They would wait for a long time for the nurses to respond and then it was with an "attitude". Change your hiring policy. Hire professional people that want to take care of the sick and pay them accordingly. It is less expensive in the long run if you have people that enjoy going to work than people that just stand around to get a pay check and do NOT care about each other, let alone their patient. Hiring should be done by more than one person to get a truly good feel for a person's ability and true willingness to WORK and to be PLEASANT!!!
