Latochia Jones-Hart Review of Grady Health System Aramark

My son who has Sickle Cell Anemia was recently admitted into Grady Hospital. This was his first time being admitted there. This was the worst experience we have ever had at any hospital. He was kept in the Sickle Cell Acute Center from 5:30am until after midnight until they got a room ready for him on the 10th floor. 10A to be exact. The staff on that floor was terrible and very rude. My son had another young man in the room with him whom also suffers from Sickle Cell. The staff was very rude and unprofessional to him. They only gave him pain meds to keep him quiet. They ended up calling a Code on him one night due to the staff just pumping pain meds in him and that's all. The very next night they had to call a code for my son because they damn near overdosed him on Fentanyl. It took one particular nurse to actually listen to me and she jumped into action. At that point he was moved to the 12th floor which is known as the Step Down floor. Basically ICU, but not quite ICU. That entire hospital is very Nasty and Dirty!!! I felt dirty the whole time he was there. I didn't want to leave him there alone. Grady may have good medical treatment, but the overall maintenance and up keep of that hospital needs some improvements quick! I'm just not impressed with Grady at this point. I know they are the doctors, but I have been taking care of my son for 21 years. Sometimes it's best for the staff as well as doctors to listen to the family. They may know medicine, but we know the history of the patient more!! As i'm sure we will be there again, I just hope that the next hospitalization will be better than the first.
