I gave this hospital a 2 star rating, because they wasn't the most tactiful.. I came with a blood cloth. I was given a dose of medication. Afterwards, I was given a prescription that will take days to fill.. My issue is why they didn't anticipate that and gave me some to take home..
This is the absolute worst hospital. I have been waiting 6 hours and I m still waiting for a child to see the doctor. This is absolutely the worst hospital exceperience I ve ever had.
The place is the public hospital. Level 1 trauma. They get almost everyone through there but especially indigent and the like. So I think they do amazingly well for the clientele they are forced to serve
My granddaughter; Anyka Aziz Terrell was born at Grady on May 23, 2017 @ 5:03 am. Her mother is Princess Aziz Terrell; an inmate at DeKalb County Jail. Grady sent Anyka home with her father on May 24, 2017. On May 26, 2017, Anyka was taken to Hughes Spaulding children's clinic, where it was discovered that Anyka had a Billirubin level 20! Where she spent May 26 - 28, under the UV light, receiving treatment intreveniously, when Grady should have properly treated her while she was there. Now I want to know who was Anyka's doctor or nurse while she was at Grady? Why wasn't she properly examined and placed under the light while she was at Grady? What kind of health care system sends a newborn home one day after birth? This resulted in unnecessary stress and pain on Anyka her first days in the world, as well as her family, thanks to Grady. I'm really feeling like Grady did not provide the best care to Anyka based on her mother being an inmate. So Grady treated a newborn baby as if she was inmate as well. Grady did not live up to it's "Atlanta can't live without Grady" motto in this case, and I want to know why because this could have resulted in Anyka having brain damage or worse. Luckily her father has a grandmother who has been in the nursing field for over 40 yrs, so she caught it, but what if that were not the case, then this would have gone undetected and we would have been left wondering what happen to our newborn baby girl who deserved just as much attention and care as the other babies. As a Grandmother, I am pissed to say the least, because this situation was preventable, and I want names and answers.!!!
I arrived at Grady by air ambulance on 6/8/2012. An old man turned left in front of me and my motorcycle in Cartersville, Georgia. The Trauma Team operated on me for over 8 hours. I lost 16 units of blood, both arms and legs broke, two collapsed lungs, ruptured diaphram, lacerated liver and kidney and a bruised heart. I was in Grady ICU for 34 days. Yeah, my friends and family said the homeless bums roaming the hospital were a pain but my care was WORLD CLASS! The doctors hid NOTHING from my family and even told them they needed to pray for me at the start. They saved my life several times during that month. The trauma surgeon that saved my life even came to my retirement party a few weeks ago! Without him, I would have died and not made retirement age.
I was actually born here and I was born at 28 weeks and I was very premature and I had to stay in special care for 7 weeks and I am great full for how much Grady helped me. Sooooo I totally recommend this hospital.
During my visit to the emergency room at Grady Memorial Hospital, I received excellent service and care from everyone that attending me.
I honestly thought I had died & gone to Hell. There were not one, but two patients in two different halls seizing on the nasty floor as 4-5 doctors stood by & watched like they were at a freak show. I'd rather die than go back to this heartless, wrecking of urine & feces hell with doctors that would just as soon spit on you as to help you.
My husband was in an auto accident this was the most nastiest,rude nurses dirty sheets they had him on.Then they move him from emergency to floor 5 a curtain for privacy.Never saw a dr.once until I said we were checking him out ourselves..Please be careful if you go there..It is a culture shock...
Currently @ Grady (ICU), staff reminds me of the old Grady employees, I believe this causes visitors to Grady to become irate because staff is unprofessional...It makes me wonder how upper name meet actually knows how their employees are actually treating patients.......When I arrived @ the Emergency Registration on Sunday, the registration representative was literally SLEEP, I stood & watch her sleep 3-4 minutes before I started recording her sleeping (head nodding & all)...The sad thing about is that the TN working beside her, was covering for her, whenever someone stepped up to counter to ask a ?, the nurse would ask them if 'she' could help them, never attempted to wake registration clerk......The family lounge is treat as if family members are either @ a SHELTER OR PRISON......I'm very disappointed in Grady & PRAY TO ALLLLLLL THE GODS THAT I NEVER HAVE TO COME OR BRINGING A LOVE ONE HERE AGAIN..
My daughter had an emergency c-section on Saturday the anesthesiologist messed up my daughter back sticking her more than once knowing she suffer with blood clots, then some of the nurses on 4A r rude and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Her doctor told her they scheduled her an ultra sound 4 her legs 2 check 4 clots which they Lied it wasn't put in until yesterday AT THIS POINT IM FURIOUS. SHE CALLS 4 HER PAIN MEDS AND IT TAKES UP 2 45MINUTES 4 SOMEONE 2 COME And bring her some pain meds. This hospital has 2 do better . THIS IS NOT THE END TRUST ME
I was able to apply for my GC and smooth process without a super long wait time and my appointments have been really beneficial and timely executed... Thank You Grady!!!!!!!!!!!

Grady, is one of the worst place, I can not understand why the employee do not know part of the hospital and why must you have a code to use the bathroom Grady is use too drugs addict and homeless people every stations you go to all you see is laptop or on the computer and standing their talking went to the information desk and the lady was face time on the phone, the floor's was dirty, Tyler Perry use another hospital on your next movie
I was born at Grady. Im alive. I almost died and Grady bought me back. Im alive. I had all 3 of my kids there. And their alive.Its a great hospital.
They can start by improving the way that they treat the family members of burn victims. Improving their policies on the filings and processing of grievances would also be a big leap towards improvement. They have some of the best doctors in the world, but their care of patients needs a 21st-century overhaul.
I am at Grady now been here since 9/14/2019. I have NOT eaten anything since I been here. They have rude nurses and techs. They told me my condition was serious and that they might have to operate and this was on Monday. They have been lying to me claiming doctors were coming to talk to me about my surgery and condition and no one has come all of a sudden they are in surgery and I guess surgery lasts all day until it s time for them to go home. I don t understand folks lie and say Grady this and Grady that but let s be clear the people that work in Grady have messed up attitudes and really don t like their jobs they too busy telling patients what s not their job. I AM READY TO GO.
I have been in the emergency room for 13 hours with my wife who is pregnant and I have been bleeding and with a lot of pain, urine is dying here and a doctor has not yet come to see her. not even in Cuba what is communism they leave you like this I wonder how many people will die in this supposed urgency
Atlanta can't live without Grady.. yeah right. Grady just want our money. And they very rude and slow . I would say Atlanta can't live without loyal ,honest and nice people who works inside of Grady cause everyone in this world treating people differently. When all of us have to leave one day. So help each other and be thankful for it

Awesome team, from the very new maroon shirt young nurse who "put a line in" flawlessly to the Charge Nurse and his White shirt traffic directing savant... every person I met was kind, caring and even at the end, when it took forever to get the final signature... an inebriated man was brought in and set in one of what has become "the rooms in the hall" near me... he was loud and a bit of a handful and they were spectacular in thier professionalism and decorum.
I came in fearing exposure to Covid but I was injured and needed help. They were there for me. No, they were more than there for me. I was safe and protected even though they were Very very busy. If you need emergency care. Please, know that good people work at Grady. Solid, nice, helpful people who KNOW how afraid you are about Covid. If you're hurt. Go to Grady. Trust me.

I had a finger laceration that needed to be stitched. I was in the ER for 5 hours before I decided to leave. My wound was exposed to all types of bacteria in that dirty ER waiting area. Don't go here If you need ER attention you will get treated like a 2nd class citizen.
I absolutely love the doctors and nurses here. Every time I go they always nurse me back to health. The ER visits do have long wait times but they do try to get you the help you need. Two times I've been for serious issues they saved my life. I only use Grady for my health needs unless referred by Grady somewhere else.
The workers at the desk are so rude & unprofessional. The nurses & doctor are untimely. People are going to be there for their love ones but not thinking it would be an issue getting a doctor excuse for returning to work ! Very unprofessional & inconsiderate. I ve been giving the run around for 5 days just about getting a work excuse. After having to deal with crackheads and drunks harassing me everytime I exited or entered the hospital. Delt with rude desk workers about passes. Also delt with a couple of rude/impatient nurses.
The new Grady is awesome! I am treated with such respect and hospitality that I forget how bad Grady use to be back in the day. They have really reformed that hospital into one that Atlanta can be proud of.

Got there with chest pain and shortness of breath. They called in Fast for VS check up, however instead of them remaining you inside, they'll make you wait outside until they call your name again, after they called me a second time, then they withdrew blood, then had waiting AGAIN outset until I get blood results. I waited around 2 hours and asked if by any chance they were close to calling me, all they said was "they're working on it, like we have had patients here who's been here like 4-5 hours, they'll get with you soon enough." Bloody terrible service, I left the hospital with the same symptoms, I didn't even get to go inside.
Extremely annoyed at their phone system as no matter what number I input it does not recognize that I've input anything at all and they don't even fix it just leave it how it is
They have the most uncoordinated way to schedule a radiology scan. The referral gets faxed to the scheduling department. And then you speed weeks calling once a week to be told it hasn't been uploaded in the system!! What a horrible way to make patient wait weeks to schedule a radiology appt. Then after it has been uploaded in the system you now wait another couple weeks to get an appointment. It is such an exhausting process and a huge delay of care.
The care I received under doctor Mara Schenker was so poor it's frightening. I came to Grady with two broken legs. My doctor was Mara Schenker. On the day of one of my scheduled visits, I found out she was on vacation. A month after following her instructions she said that my case was beyond her and to seek help elsewhere. She released me from care.

Just awful, I had to go to get a rabies shot to their Emergency Room since it was the place the Fulton county medical department suggested (another useless organization). They made me wait for 5 hours and then hit me with the huge bill although all they did is gave me the shot, they overpiced the vaccine 6 times and their services as well - it was only a nurse practitioner who barely looked at me and gave me the hard time for coming there at all and not to the State Health Department, which doesn't do Rabies vaccine. Ridiculous! Think twice before you go there.

I had my baby on the 11th,october,2019.I went alone to the hospital. I did not have anyboby nor know someone. All the doctors a nurses took really good care of me and my daughter. Thank you Kyler,Sherry,Erica and the rest....thank you.
The financial counselor for the east point clinic is very racist. She also gives the white patients a harder time than that of someone who's not white. Because of her mistakes, I'm being billed outrageous amounts of money for which I do NOT owe. Every time I call to get these bills removed, I'm given the run-around. I filed a complaint against her with hospital, and I will continue to do so until someone does something about it. I will be calling every day until these bills are removed.
Not surprisingly the staff seemed not know basic stuff like location of different specialties. Also Senior Pharmacy personnel seemed apathetic and or incompetent... 3 hours plus to get one Rx filled. Trying to find where to park was sven worse for a total of 4 hours to get one Rx...
I've been sitting in this hospital with glass in my foot since 9:22 am. It's 3:38pm and still haven't been seen. This is unacceptable.
Some 27 yrs ago i had my 1st daughter here. I really cant say much of anything good about my visit. Nurses seemed to switch every 30 min. One of the nurses i had was awful & in my opinion, shouldnt have been a nurse because she was mean,hateful, non compassionate. So much so that my dad had to threaten her job. I had requsted an epidural previous to my visit with my doctor and they had no knowledge so i finally got it about 30 min before giving birth, which hadnt really had time to take effect. After birth, they moved me to recovery(ha ha), then into a room if you could call it that. It looked &felt like i was in a warehouse. Seeing the pipes above me, no windows, kinda dim with no way to adjust the lighting orbroom temp. Not a good experience for me.
I have to say hands down one of the worst emergency room visit's I have ever had, headed to another hospital right know. Came in with a sever stomachache, as I approached the front desk the nurse's wouldn't stop talking to each other and acknowledge me for at least 5 min after the other people had left the front desk. They checked me in and did no vitals I've never been to a hospital that didn't check your vitals as soon as they got a chance. Then waited 2hrs ,and they where not packed. Left in pain headed someplace else.
I've had 2 near death experiences and Grady's has come through with flying colors. A brain aneurysm and a knee replacement with a yellowish infection. I will go no where else for my medical needs. Thank God for Grady's!!
If you are not in serious immediate need, go somewhere else. The wait times from the ER to the specialty clinics are excessive. The majority of staff lacks common decency and people skills. You can't even get a smile or basic question answered around here. I was bounced around between 7 departments to find a solution to an issue THEY created, left multiple voice messages, haven't received a call back (2.5 weeks later), and the issue remains unresolved. Nobody seems to know anything but "I don't know" and "that's not my department." Don't expect any real client-physician relationships because this is a residency and clinical site. I've had at least 7 neurologists in the past 2.5 years. You have to be proactive about your health because they are extremely detached. My blood work was critically out of range, and apparently my physician "reviewed it" because it uploaded to mychart (incompletely might I add) and no one thought it necessary to reach out to me. It was only a discussion after I took the initiative to review and research then make contact. Grady is in my network but apparently the physicians they pull from elsewhere are not so I am always left with a few hundred dollars in bills after a 2 hr visit with only 15 minutes being face-to-face with a doctor. Save yourself time, energy, money, and stress by just going somewhere else altogether if you can help it. The best thing about my experience since my very first (6 hour long wait) ER visit has been the the majority of the nurses in Neurology.
This is a terrible hospital. The earliest I could get a GYN appointment is 4 months away! I can't even get through to anyone on the phones. The offices are dirty as well. I am kind of sad that I am stuck with this hospital because I have terrible insurance apparently.
All of the staff were great but I wanted to highlight Nurse Genie. I have never experienced such exceptional service. Thank you Nurse Genie for helping my daughter, wife and myself feel at ease as we went through our traumatic experience after my daughter s car accident. You had kind and warm reassuring words, promptness and you keeping us informed help us emencely. The service here was exceptional. The staff was there within second after buzzing the nurse.
Trauma team was incredible. Once your upstairs, for get customer service. Attitude for days, and youre on you own. Just attitude for days. Even a nurse having a party with vodka and the cleaning crew when my urinal needed to be emptied. Personally saw the Fris bottle on her desk. Was told to get back in bed. 2:00 a.m Saturday Saturday And was in ICU.

I have to take my injection, and I was complaining to Dr. Emory Hsu that the process is taking too long, they want to spread my injection over the course of 6 months instead of just one month and then up the doses the next month. He told me to take some Viagra.
My nephew was life flighted to the hospital and was in the trauma unit for a day and a half till he had surgery. The staff was great except for security in the ER. There was no where for me and my husband to sit so my husband and I sit on a round end table, security said we could not sit there so we stood against the wall and not in anyone's way. A little while later the lady at the information desk said security said we could stand where we were and if we didn't move we were going to be escorted from the building. God bless the lady from the information desk, she found our family a room to stay in. Nothing against the homeless but, how can they take many of the seats in the ER waiting area and we are there with our family and we get treated in such a way. Just not right.
This is the worst hospital I ever been to I have been here since 10 am I ve had a painful IV in my arm for 3 hours worst service ever I don t even know how this hospital is even open seriously
The Doctors and staff are best I've ever seen. They are so compassionate, and your health matters to them.
As an experienced healthcare employee and a tax payer. Your levels of service are absolutely awful. No clarity in direction of visitors and the feeling of institutionalization opposed to health swrvicesneeds to be changed. You are a healthcare provider not a jailer

Grady saved my life, and that's all I have to say about that.
Even though most of the nurses are nice they don't seem to follow any regimen, you have to ask for pain meds but they will tell you to take them at regular intervals to control the pain, they didn't bath them without being ask, no one seems to know what the other is doing, they have crazy people on the general floor, there was a woman on the same floor as my son that sat in her room and screamed all the time she was awake, a man in the room with him that would ramble about things that made no since, few Public bathrooms through out the hospital, nasty food, no menu for the patients they just get the luck of the draw, floors arnt consistent, gf received sodas, son got water, takes forever to get test run and even longer to get the results. They left my son flat in his back for almost a week without having any bed sore precautions,except for watching out for them, which I might add they did a quick visual a couple times of his feet but not much else.
I think they may be ok to keep you from dying but they really need updated and get everyone on the same page. Still here, still waiting on certian things to happenwithout much hope.

I have nothing but great things to say about the doctors and nurses in ICU J area. My family member was admitted here for a week and the team of doctors made sure to communicate with me about everything that was going on with him. Dr Clyde you are the best!!! If he didn't catch me at the hospital he made sure to take the time to call me. Ms. Tonii Dean your dedication in what you do is very rare. If only we could have this with every facility! Continue to do what you do best, thank you to you as well!

Im 7 months months pregnant. I called to reschedule my routine prenatal 4 times. Each time a assistant told me they'll call within a few hours to tell me my new appt time & date, but never did. I finally decided to go to the 2nd & reschedule. It was a complete waste of time. Why is it specific days that you have reschedule? I was very pissed. Needs improvement on making sure patients get their appointments rescheduled.
Had a doctor's appointment. I figured the wait time would be a while so I got there early. The receptionist was very nice and went ahead and signed me in. Didn't take them 5 minutes to call me to the back. So my experience today was EXCELLENT!!!!
Don't fall for Grady. Once you see your primary care, you be lucky if you see them again in 6 months. Try dealing with the Physicians Nurses, you will get attitude and when they decide to shut you down, good luck getting them to honor any request. I have had nothing but headaches and am looking into another source for my healthcare. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID.

If I could give this hospital a negative I would! My brother has sickle cell so we went to the sickle cell department. The doctors are VERY rude & unprofessional...My brother didn't want to take a certain medicine so the doctor told him just like this 'I'm not here for the bullshit, either you can take the medicine or get out'. Excuse me !!! What did you say ?! The doctor was clearly a racist. I wouldn't recommend ANYONE to go to this dirty, ghetto, disturbing hospital ! PLEASE GO SOME WHERE ELSE & GET TREATED BETTER!
This place needs to be a historical site or something the people are rude and agitated the waiting rooms are horrible and it's just not sanitize like a hospital should be reminds me of a old asylum . Plus Metal detectors for sick patient and minors I just don't understand.

I waited in the emerency room for three days. Once seen by a doctor the following occured
1. I was wheel to in a line of bed in the middle of the emergency room floor. There were several beds everywhere such as the halls and beds outside of the rooms along the rooms. I waited in a bed for 2 hours before being seen.
2. I was wheeled to the hall ways waited 1 hour their.
3. I was wheeled to a room.
4. I went to because of continual bleeding and pevlic pain fever and swelling feet frequent urination. from the fibroid cyst in my ovarys.

ordered mophrine and completed a pevlic exam. she refused to order a ultrasound to determine if it was a mass.
She sent me home with tynel 3
What ever you do... DO NOT GO TO GRADY!!! I am in active labor and they are turning pregnant women who are in active labor around to go to another hospital! They have no rooms available and the lady in the emergency room department was very rude. I've told her that I'm in labor and I need a wheelchair and act like I'm not here! They put me in the waiting area like I got a damn head ache or something smh I've been in the waiting area for about 20 mins

I actually had my doubts on being affiliated with Grady Hosiptal. I always thought a public hospital was not the best fit for me. Not until I lost my health insurance and now have to use Grady for all my medical needs. I have come across some great people here at Grady in the clinic I attend which is the ENT Clinic. Ms.Murphy the front desk receptionist is the absolute best! She is always courteous,kind and professional. I appreciate and thank her each time I visit also, Nurse Muhammad is kind and friendly as well. Thank you both for always doing your jobs with a smile.
(Grady baby here) All of the staff were very nice from the OBGYN down to the receptionist, I was warmly welcomed and helped by the staff, now i must say the wait time was a little long, partially because I didn't hear my name called, however, the staff made the visit well worth the wait with warm smiles and kind words!
Grady hospital is the WORST hospital I've ever been to. The staff is very rude and they have no compassion for patients. I went two weeks ago for chest pains and they took forever to get me to a room while the nurses were giggling and joking. I told the nurse that I couldn't take the pain and she rolled her eyes at me! When I finally got back to a room, it was a room lined up with other patients behind several different curtains. She handed me a cup and told me too pee in it for a sample in the same room where I was only behind a curtain, no toilet paper and in front of my boyfriend. I left and went to Piedmont hospital where they were respectful and professional. I will never go back to Grady even if it's a last option.

Grady Hospital is the people's hospital...It is the best place to have a baby in the USA...because Grady accepts anyone, some locals look down on it, but it's doctors are from Emory, one of the top medical schools in the USA...If you are from out of town, from another country, or have no insurance, go to Grady
Had a great experience at Grady hospital beginningJune 6, 2019. My son Jermaine was in ICU 7b room #6 Cynthia our nurse with the team lime polo shirt was awesome. Moving forward we was moved to 11b room #3 and we had another awesome nurse Jacqueline Parrish. Grady save my son life! I was born at Grady 37 years ago and I'm glad to say that. Adding to Godfrey the tech on 11b was awesome
This is the absolute worse hospital in the state. Go elsewhere if you can.
1st offense: prescribed me the wrong medication. Didn't tell me until two weeks after. 2nd offense: someone (not a doctor or nurse) called and offered to MEET ME with my prescription outside of the hospital and had access to my medical records apparently
3rd offense: called to cancel my oral surgery twice - each time the day before my appointment.
4th offense: sitting in the emergency room and hearing the nurses flirt while people are crying and moaning in distress around them

Takes forever for appointments and no one answers the phone i was on hold for 2 hours. Terrible. Its been 2 months since ive been trying to reach them. I left emails and voice mails but no one contacts me.
Worked here as a travel RN. Excellent staff and facilities.
