Seems like a hidden, modernized and well kept relict from the time when hotels were grand. When Pam am flights flew proud and you took your family to a hotel to have a weekend by a pool instead of a budget place to sleep. The suites are almost too large with very clean if slightly outdated decor. Very comfortable lounging areas in the rooms. Great shops and nice lobby. What a pleasant surprise!

It's OK... I have stayed here twice, and both times experienced horrible plumbing issues. On the first visit, there was actually no water at all for a short while! It was so nice of them to offer their $5 water bottles at this time at no charge. When the water returned, I was convinced that there was still an issue as my toilet required 2-3 flushes for just toilet paper . Maintenance came, replaced something in the toilet, but nothing changed. Shower pressure is dismal, expect to take a longer shower than expected because rinsing your hair from product takes 3 times longer, and the sinks clog. With the exception of the total loss of water, these plumbing issues were present during both stays, in two different rooms. They clearly have something going on with their water. I actually asked for a room on a lower floor the second time around thinking the pressure would increase on a lower floor - it did not. First stay was in room 5xx (532 perhaps) and second stay in 234. This place is way too expensive to have water issues. It's not acceptable to me. I will not be staying here again. My company has an agreement with them, which is why I stay here. As a regular business traveler, I've stayed in places a lot better than this one. I recommend you pass on this place. Save your money and find something else.

I will say that the service is great, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms a clean. It is a rather dated place - not enough outlets, not much tech, and the giant glass (heavy) doors at the entrance are not automatic.

I have complained about this issue to management, but they don't really seem to care. I suspect they know something is going on, but just won't admit to anything. They offered me a different room, but being that two rooms had issues with water during two different stays, I declined the alternative room option - I doubt it would have been any different.

I hope this helps someone.

Lovely ambiance, fresh food, amazing service. Our server (Yaser) took amazing care of us when my wife and I were there for our anniversary. The place was super busy but everything was on point.

I stayed at a deluxe king which included the bed in breakfast service. The attention was magnificent, the bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty. We also used the on-site pool which was nicely warm. We went in the morning and were the only ones there though it was a Monday. The pool is on the smaller side but just enough to relax and swimma few calm laps. Overall the customer service was amazing, the location pretty and iconic. I recommend it

I haven't stayed here and based on my experience, never will. So it may have great rooms and a wonderful ambiance, but the customer service I received for my reservation determined that I refuse to stay at this establishment. One star only because I can't give it zero.

Located in a quiet area. Spacious, neat rooms. Very friendly welcome. Located close to the train station, with a smooth train ride of 50 minutes, 1x per hour, to the heart of Manhattan. Within walking distance of shopping mall Roosevelt.

I stayed for several days at this place with my airline group. The hotel is overrated imho; the food is mediocre, the wait stuff is decent and the front desk people are rude. The rooms are very dated, the tile in the room is moldy, toilet is noisy, sheets and towels have pubic hair and room smelled like smoke.

Many issues with room. Expensive stay for so many problems, especially when coming from out of state for my daughter s wedding. There was urine on the toilet upon arrival. Floor wet from A/C, and the A/C froze while trying to get ready for my daughter s wedding. No fitted sheet on the bed.

Just to UPDATE what I wrote below, I see other people have reported theft at the Garden City Hotel and an indifference from management. This puts my situation in a new light. I think it might be time to switch to the Viana in Old Westbury for future stays.

I hated it this trip and my view has changed due to a theft of my property. Part my fault as I left a $300 item behind. When I got to the airport late in the afternoon, I realized it was left behind. I recalled I left it in the nightstand drawer. I contacted the hotel and informed them promptly. Someone went to the room I was in and nothing. Not an item to be thrown away but obviously, an item to take. So, the person who cleaned my room, who I tipped well, stole my property. Nice. Again, one bad apple story. They have some good people there. The upgrade program they claim to use for returning guests and members is a total joke. There have been no upgrades recently. Unfortunate experience. Manager offer nothing for my unfortunate experience either so that is certainly questionable. If he looked into it, he would find that I am a regular who tips his staff generously and spends thousands at his property on business trips to NY. He needs to go back to hospitality training for sure.

The suites are roomy and well appointed and the staff are friendly and always there to help with any needs. Both restaurants are worth a visit and the outdoor bar and patio area are the perfect spot to enjoy the grounds.

Its a luxury hotel with fancy chandeliers and the works. My cousin had her wedding here it was definitely a good choice. You will feel like a rich person when you walk in and the wedding rates were not bad but I can't speak for the non-special rates. Service was outstanding.

Seems like security was unable to keep kids from hanging out near our room. Parent s were oblivious and after security leaves they go right back.
Looking for sleep. This might not be the place.

To say we were very unhappy about our wedding night stay is a HUGE understatement. It's sad to see how poorly this company treats guests. After making an advanced (pricey) reservation-- AND confirming with the hotel via email as well as over the phone--we stood at the check in desk, after our WEDDING, and were informed that we would not have a king size room, but two double beds. The rationale preposterous, given the great lengths we went to to ensure our reservation. Standing in my wedding dress, I was shocked thinking this was a joke. It wasn't. I almost burst into tears--after all of the planning and energy that went into our wedding day, we were so looking forward to our honeymoon night and picked this hotel to make it even more special. But, it was far from it. There was no special congratulations or honeymoon treatment, just disappointment. We could barely rest or fit in the small beds separately, much less together, given our height.

I wasn't until the following evening when we met Dan, who was kind and understanding, that we even got an apology and an attempt at rectifying the huge mistake. Instead we dealt with two staff members, the night of and morning after, who were beyond rude and didn't posses one ounce of hospitality. Maybe one day with will laugh about it. For now its just sad. And, this hotel will never be more than a joke to us. Doesn't deserve 1 star.

Nice ambiance, food very good but quite pricy and Carlos our server was very polite and attentive. I was celebrating my birthday and on arrival I was handed a beautiful card signed by all the dining room staff wishing me happy birthday. Overall the experience was good

Worse hotel experience. The staffs were so rude; first, I only had one towel in the room, so after the first day I called for a fresh towel since I will be extending my stay, I waited for 4 hours but no towel, I called again, the staff yelled on the phone saying, towels are at the front desk you can come pick them up. So I called again because I had to first process why I was yelled at and why the towel was never sent the first time I asked. The staff I spoke to the second time said the room cannot be cleaned, asking, have you stayed here for 3 days? because that's when we will clean your room; I explained that, I was only asking for new towel given that I only had 1 towel and I also need the trash to be taken out as I cannot sleep a second night with trash in the room. I felt bad and will never spend a night here again. I avoided a random cheap hotel for quality service only to come here, paid for a better service and got this. Its terrible!

A beautiful hotel. Very stylish, clean, and well kept hotel. Stayed here for two weeks on business. Great location - catch the LIRR that goes straight into NY Penn Station. Easy access to the Hamptons and Montauk. The housekeeping staff are very courteous and nice, always checking on you, yet respecting your privacy. There is a nice gym and pool downstairs that is open 24/7. The rooms are very quiet, comfortable, and spacious. The Red Salt Room is fantastic. The breakfast and coffee are also wonderful. The hotel hosts multiple weddings, conferences, and parties Thurs-Sun, so the hotel is quite bustling during the weekends. The Garden City area has local eateries and shops, and is a gorgeous walk outside. The only issue is that the area is located in an upper-scale, homogeneous, population, so there is the potential of feeling "out of place" if you don't fit the bill, but the upside of that is that you don't have to worry too much about not being in a safe area. Also front desk staff could be more efficient with questions, check-in, and check-out, but that is my personal preference. A great getaway from the crowds, noise of Manhattan. Definitely recommended.

The Garden City Hotel is second to none if you need a room or a meal. Food is prepared by top chefs and the hotel staff are super professional. If your on long Island or in Queens, forget the city to eat, come visit the Red Salt Room and the King-Bar, you won't regret your visit.

Great place for events, the staff was very courteous and professional. The dinner was served on time and in a professional manner. The speaker system and lighting was all very good, and there was plenty of space. The cocktail hour was enjoyable due to the nice locale.
