Me and my family walked in, the "hat bouncer" said " take of your hat" I was so Appalled by the rudeness. Then the owner walked up and asked us if we had a problem. Let me just say, I would be fine to take of my hat, the way he said it made us very uncomfortable. It s the winter, it s 10 degrees, let us settle in before we take of our winter wear. They can tell us after we check in. we weren't even in our seats. The owner, bud in to our business and said that it was her grandmother's policy, that's fine with us. She said that we were threatening her with our response to write a review. Than she told us to leave. #notgoingback that s my reason for 1 star. Let me just say, would they ask someone who had a religious or medical reason to take of their hat? I don t recommend!
The staff was fantastic and accommodating. I was there with my two-year-old when they opened for lunch today, and despite being styled as a lounge, it is an incredibly family friendly atmosphere, and their waitstaff had a blast playing with my daughter until business picked up. I've been there by myself at night as well, and although I'm not much for the lounge scene, the food has always been spectacular.
Great food and drinks. Fun decor and atmosphere. The only problem is that I want all the appetizers and doesn't leave much room for dinner. When I do order dinner the options are delicious as well.
Delicious and stylish restaurant. A one and only Mexican restaurant. Menu is a little limited but food and service are great.
Solid Tex-Mex that commits to their theme. Chicken enchiladas in salsa verde is the pick.
Delicious Mexican food. A little pricey but worth it.
Love the little details. More pricey than Jose Tejas, but less of a wait and valet.
Nice Place, excellent service and good drinks. The food is not so good.
Taco galore. This place was a great find. The owner/manager will greet and seat you. One server dedicated to taking our drink order. Another for food, and a third for desert. All with a good attitude and aware of the itemd they reccommend. I appreciate that the menu is consolidated. The food was awesome. You cant go wrong with the beef, fish, and pork tacos. We gladly shared all 3. Omg, the drinks were delish! No room for desert, so we have to come back. You have to valet, but worth it.
So Delicious. I received 2 thumbs up from my family for choose the Red Cadillac. I had only been wating for 2 years to get here. Food is amazing, sometimes so impe as tacos and margaritas and yet they were AMAZE BALLS. Cant wait to go back
I enjoyed dinner at the red Cadillac twice. Both times were good. I enjoy the mussels, the pork tacos, fish tacos, and quesadilla. Pricing is good and affordable drinks. Some nights they have live music. Great ambiance!
Absolutely loved the fish tacos and margaritas. Will def be back to try more.
This establishment is not authentic..there is not a Mexican cook ...one or two Mexican workers although the atmosphere was enjoyable some of the staff is rude and quick to say we are a five star restaurant while disrespecting customers.... the food does not have authentic Mexican taste not sure why rated 5 star ...just another establishment taking away from the original Mexican tradition style and ways and Americanizing ..sad. Over rated and the entertainment is American country eastern .
The food was as exquisite as the decor and atmosphere
5/2/20
Came here for dinner. Was craving tacos and after searching near by restaurants, I realized it was an interesting find. Upon pulling up, you notice a red Cadillac in the front of the store and the restaurant is setup like a drive thru, where there s a ringing cord you drive over. There were many cars coming, it was a hot spot for sure! It didn t take long to get my food. The cashiers were friendly and accommodating. I ordered fish tacos, Mexican street corn, chips and salsa and guacamole. Unfortunately, thanks to crazy drivers slamming on their brakes, my guacamole container got lost under my seat when I hit the brakes and I didn t find it until the next day. When I went to have my meal, at first, I was frustrated bc I was missing the guacamole, only to find it in the morning. Regardless, the food was so good and I would most definitely return here again if and when in the area.
A diamond in the rough. Everything is excellent. Try the perk tenderloin. Outstanding.
Service is horrible, food is just ok. They have a bunch of infused tequilas but the servers said that they cant make margaritas with them, they're just for shots.
Great experience nice crowd live band o. FRIDAY NIGHTS! GREAT AMBIENCE!!
Good was very good. We were seated in the bar area which was very loud. Service was a little slow after ordering.
This was such a fun place to go with great food and even better atmosphere. We went for a late lunch so the place was really quiet but I could imagine it being lots of fun when a band was playing.
The Red Cadillac has the most Amazing staff!! The food and ambiance is just as amazing! There is parking in the back for the restaurant. Thank you for the spectacular experience and for those that see my post, this is a must try!!
Excellent food and service. Make your reservations early. Place can get packed on weekends. Enjoyed the live music as well!!
Great looking spot. The ambiance of the place makes it look like a very cool spot to be. However, nothing i ate was very good, apps to entre. I went here about 4 years ago and i remember liking it, the food and all. I don't think i will be going back.
Very good food. Fish tacos are amazing. I've also had the steak... very good. Every time I've been here, I've enjoyed myself. Nice & clean environment. Prices are fair
Great tacos and tequila. Usually very busy after 7 on Fridays
My husband, kids and I have waited two years to go to the Red Cadillac. Our family lives very close to it and every time we pass by we always say We have to try this place one day! Last night was that night. We valeted and upon entering my husband was told to take off his hat which was completely understandable so he did. Then we sat down next to a person wearing scrubs to dinner while she was discussing her patients. (Two thumbs down) So, my husband had to take his hat off but a person wearing soiled scrubs to a restaurant is allowed? (Yikes!) We liked the fact that there was a live band because our kids loved it! Our waitress, who was very nice, spilled water on our table and WE wiped it, up after she apologized. The pitcher of sangria was too sweet had no fruit, or very, very, very little. (It was dark, so I really couldn t tell.) A little over pricey...but authentic taste. I personally love lime wedges and pico de gallo with my tacos but none were served on the side with either of our order. I ordered the special and they gave me nothing on it, just shrimp so I had to send it back. (I asked for the works ) Overall, it s a nice place with a great ambiance, but will not be going back.
Love this place! I had the spicy beef fajita and my friend had the spicy shrimp fajita. Spicy but flavorful you can taste the different ingredients.
The ambiance is great from the red Cadillac outside, the Cadillac grill at the bar to serving you water from a gasoline container. It's great for a girls night or date night. If the conversation stalls just comment on the decor.
Cant wait to go back.
its a good hangout place the food was good and the service excellent
Greasy and long wait, did not live up to expectations. Was way overpriced
My First time here. The Drinks were very good. Service was good. They had a live band which was all right. But would rather hear the radio. Will come back for sure
The food here was absolutely delicious! Serving sizes were huge and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is awesome and the staff were accommodating. Highly recommend!
Fantastic food but no Mexican Beers on tap the night we went
I love Mexican food, I love margaritas, I love a lively place, I love a family run place, I love great service. The red caddy delivers on all my requirements. We've been going to the "caddy" for years and its still as good as when we went the first time. I love the Red Caddy and I think you will also. I recommend them.
Had a excellent experience here with my daughter. The food was served fast and the customer service is just fantastic. Prices are affordable.
Love this place. Great food, amazing margaritas and infused tequila. The PB&j shot is a must try
Fun decor, good food. Is it picky of me to think a margarita should come in a margarita glass and not a pint glass? Minor but memorable. Tiny valeted parking lot.
The service here is great. Food and drinks are appropriately priced, but it's not a high-end restaurant. Gets busy at dinner time, as it's one of the best spots in Union.
I love Mexican Food and they never disappoint...love the food, music and staff....
Food is way too salty and way too overpriced.
We ordered 3 different appetizers and 2 different entrees. Everything was way too salty. All we tasted was salt. The margaritas are just ok.
This place was also way too expensive. It's actually cheaper to eat out in Manhattan.
Consistently good food, good cocktails. Friendly staff. Valet parking is annoying, haven't figured out why it's necessary.
It's a little over priced but the food tastes good and seems fresh. 3 different types of ambience depending on where you sit. I'd go more often if it was a little cheaper. Service is average and the waitresses seem busier than they should be. Overall it's good but could be better.
I have been to the Red Cadillac before with my family...and enjoyed it, so thought to come back last night. We called in advance and made reservations, no problem there. The problem came about when we entered the door. On a cold winter evening, I was met with not a warm welcome, but the fact I had to take my hat off due to a no hat policy. I had not even made it to the reception desk, just a guy opening up the door as the hat police. As I inquired more about why, I was met with a furrowed brow-ed woman who reiterated the request and explained about how her grandmother , never allowed hats into the restaurant.
This woman was rude and aggressive in nature, no tone of kindness and hospitality, no tone of welcome and accommodation. If she is an owner of the restaurant, she has a lot to learn about customer interaction. There are other ways to convey the dress code policy ... let your customers settle in, greet them with a smile and start the conversation once we are able to at least take our jacket off.
I was willing to let this go (had my hat off already) she was not...and ultimately wanted us to leave !?! (Why do two dads with their kids at 5:30 need to leave??)
I see that others have written about the no hat policy, and still remains an issue on how they communicate this to their customers. This is the HOSPITALITY industry.... and regardless of how good the service, food or decor is, if you feel completely unwelcome at the front door, they have failed.
GEORGE THE BARTENDER REFUSED TO SPLIT MY CHECK ALTHOUGH I ASKED NUMEROUS TIMES!!! 100% UNPROFESSIONAL. WHY WOULDNT YOU SPLIT THE BILL. PURE LAZINESS AND BECAUSE OF THIS, RED CADILLAC LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER. I TRULY HOPE THAT THEY SEND HIM TO A CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING. RUDE!!!
The atmosphere of the place is great...drinks are strong...You will not need more the 2 drinks . They also really NEED to work on the food.. FYI that's that is not near to be Mexican food.
Terrible experience, disappointed and discriminated! Waiting at the bar to be serviced, bartender acknowledges 2 white males that sits next to me after I've been waiting and services them. Finally when the bartender asked what I'm having I was told I cannot eat dinner at the bar. I would have been understanding if there was a bar only menu . Yes it was busy and the bar only seats approximately 12 ppl to have gone (10-15mins) unnoticed wasn't the case. I live in the community before this establishment and will no longer support.
Great food. Personally loved the enchiladas. Drinks are a bit too pricey for me though
I used to love this place but I guess they got all Hollywood and wouldn't let my wife in with a hat. They didnt know if she had a condition that warranted wearing a baseball cap the manager just said "no hats for women". The older couple who came in after us was told to wait 2 1/2 hours because the table they wanted wasn't ready. Mind you, it was 5pm and there was barely any clientele. I will never go to this restaurant again and it's a shame
One of THE best Mexican eateries I have ever been to. The decor was wicked cool, but the food was amazing. We stopped in for lunch while visiting my son at college. We live an hour away but the minute we left we couldn't wait to come back. Best empanadas I have ever eaten, and fajitas and enchiladas all soooo good!!
I posted this same review on yelp, figured to put it here too: Didn't actually get to eat here since we left before the order arrived. I came here with my mom and we ordered two shots, so the waiter with the braces, who was probably underaged himself and shouldn't be serving alcohol, asked me for my ID. I'm a young looking 23 year old, so I happily showed him my NY state ID, as I live in New York. Apparently, just an ID alone isn't enough anymore, as I was asked to show a second form of ID, as if I just casually carry my birth certificate around with me. They then said showing a credit card would suffice, but how does that prove my age when you can open up a credit card at the age of 18? They refused to serve me if I didn't show a second form, and although I did have credit cards on me, I got up and left just because of the ridiculous request. The manager and owner followed us out, talking about how it's apparently a law to ask for two forms of ID, although in my 2 years of legal and frequent drinking in NJ I've never once been asked for a second form.
The food took too long, wasn't that great and the "hat bouncer", I mean give me a break. The amount I paid for the food-- the chicken "falutas" were just taquitos they warmed up and then put in a cheap macaroni and cheese sauce. I had four different waiters, the first girl came to ask if I wanted a drink and then immediately left without even taking my order. I heard such great things about this restaurant on the Union Forum on Facebook and the only thing I wanted to do was get the hell out of there as soon as possible. Will not be returning.
The atmosphere is GREAT, especially if you're a petrol head. Good tequila, and good food.
The best fish tacos you'll ever have! They're always the same, and never...ever had a bad one. The food is always great here...my wife and I love it.The different flavored infused Tequilas are awesome. The manager/owner Jolene is such a sweetheart. She has every customer in mind at all times. The place is owned, and run by Dad,Mom, and daughter. They care about each and every patron and do everything they can to be sure all customers are happy.
I'd say come here for the drinks, the food is a bit pricey for mexican cuisine.
I m giving this place four stars because the steak burrito was unforgettable and the steak nachos were great also ! The customer service was acceptable and the food came very fast ! It was a little pricey but it was worth it and I plan on visiting again this weekend if I can !
I had a taste for some chicken fajitas and The Red Cadillac came up. I read the reviews and some of the comments were mainly about their strict hat policy. (Who cares) I then decided to try out this place. My husband and I both enjoyed the food and drinks. I love the fact that its right in my back yard . I will be returning. Keep up the good work!
They have awesome drink options. Their menu is good as well. The food and drinks taste really good. Definitely would come back to visit.
Do yourself a favor and stop and have a few tacos and some fine tequila. Stopped here after a show at starland ballroom
Horrible service and horrible hat policies I will never go again !!
Food was great, the owner and service were very good nice people.
A very limited menu drinks way too expensive I will not pay $12 for a margarita when I can go to Jose Tejas and get it for 6 they will never see me there again
Ordered takeout from them. I ordered tacos and a chicken quesadilla. Tacos were great, but the chicken quesadilla was horrible. It was so oily and saggy when I took it out of the white take out box. Pass.
This spot is one of my favorites! Affordable pricing, big portions and the employees are constantly very welcoming.
Food was bland. The 3 of us in my family, we left 75% of our food behind. We didn't even have it wrapped up to take home. I only ate 1 of the 3 fish tacos. Rice was hard!!! Bottom of the tray when you scrape the bottom. Beans definitely were not fresh.
Best chicken quesadillas ever. Place is great, too bad for its location. Too close to residential areas. Should move further downtown with the other bustling new restaurants and stay open later. Show that we can party hard late.
This place is fantastic. Delicious food. I come every time in the area. Melanie is awesome, and gives me great service every time I see her. Such a pleasure.
Bad first time experience, waiting about almost 2 hours for food, and at the end they just forget about me and my wife. It was my birthday. I just step out.
Fun place, great food, and reasonable prices. Love the water being poured out of former gas cans!
Great place. Take a Lyft/Uber and order the Truck Driver. Upside down Corona in a frozen drink. Try to stop at one, I dare you. Steak Nachos are a must. My wife loves the fish tacos. Not at all expensive for what you get.
