Never had a bad experience at Mavis. I always leave my car at the shop and come back end of day all done. I have been coming to this location for years and never an issue. Prices are good service is good. Manger at store is friendly and polite.

Made an appointment for 10AM Sunday more than 24 hours in advance. Spoke with staff over the phone Saturday AM. Thought all would be ok. NOPE. Dropped car off at 9:55 and went to breakfast with my children. An hour later, the car hadn't moved/been taken in. I went for a walk through the neighborhood, spent time at a local park, and walked back. Now two and half hours after my appointment time, the car had still not moved. I was told that I was till three cars back on the list. I asked for my keys back; I'll get this done somewhere else.

TL;DR - Took advantage of someone who doesn't know cars, charge $350 for a $150 part(at most after searched the market) and then claim he already gave discount because "part department" said it would been $630. Also can't come up with paper work for the part invoice or reason for why the part needed to be swapped (lower control arm) after a standard inspection. Threw paper work at my mother and told her to get out of the store.

I would absolutely not recommend this shop unless you like to be ripped off on standard maintenance and then have them throw you out the door.

My mother had her car serviced there for a while, recently she showed me a receipt on one of her standard inspections. She got an inspection, changed out a signal bulb, replaced both front lower control arms, and an alignment done.

I could not think of a reason why this would be needed under a standard maintenance and inspection, and my mother told me they didn't give her a reason why, she just paid for it(she doesn't know cars at all). They charged a total of $450 for the LCA job with $350 for parts alone. I understand shops make some money on parts, but after doing searching, i found out at most the parts are about $150 total, not to mention the cheapest pair of LCA are only $45 new, its obscured. I was outraged and decided to have my mother go back to the shop to get an explanation for this work done, and have me talk to the store manager greg over the phone (I live out of town).

So Greg picked up and i explained my concerns to him, his attitude was good at first, then it turned for the worse after i inquired about the LCA. He started throwing numbers at me saying how he always took care of my mother's car and always gave her discounts. I asked him why the LCA need to be replaced and if there are records, he told me paperwork are submitted to corporate and he doesn't have it. I ask if there is an invoice for these parts, he told me there is no way for him to get it because everything goes to corporate(which i think is BS, because shipping will have paper work with an invoice attached). He told me he can call the parts department and have them find out how much they are, and later came back with $315 each and keep saying how he already gave my mother a discount. With the part number he gave me, i checked out a standard price(GM no longer make these since saturn is gone), the most expensive was $150 for BOTH sides. I get shops charge a little more on parts, but at over 100% increase? its highway robbery. Especially taking advantage of someone who clearly doesn't know what is going on.

After getting nowhere with the guy, i got off the phone. He then threw the receipt paper work back at my mother and told her not to bring her car here any more and get out of the store.

Its guys like these that give legitimate mechanics and shops a bad name and i'd absolutely advise people to take their business elsewhere.

My wife has been dealing with this locations for a while and I never really payed attention to the details. They seemed to always take care of her maintenance needs. This time the car was making some weirds noises and they looked at it and diagnosed the problem. We agreed on the work and where told the car would be done the next day. Went and picked up the car the next day and and noticed that we still had the same issue. We brought the car back and explained that the issue was still happening the next morning. I dealt with Jeff one of the mangers on that morning and was called back by Greg the shop manager the next morning due to not having a mechanic on Sunday. Greg and Jeff both couldn t do enough to look into the issue and make the issue right for my wife. they where both very involved with trying to figure it out. I must say I am very happy with how the shops professionalism In wanting to take care of there customers definitely seems to be a main priority. I would be willing to take any of my cars to this shop and know that they are wanting to fix the car to 100%. Just want to reiterate Greg and Jeff both are a huge asset to this shop and I can t say enough about either one of them.

TRAINWRECK...I wish that I could give zero stars - this place is a complete disaster. I suppose its my fault for going back a second time. I had tires installed just before I brought my new born daughter home from the hospital. Immediately after picking up the vehicle, I heard rattling and discovered my rear driver lug nuts were loose. That and the utter incompetence of the staff involved; Jeff, Greg, that younger girl with the horrible attitude and whoever else in the garage at any given time, will 100% assure I will never use this location ever again. Glad that I'm not telling a story about how I killed someone, myself or my family.

Recently brought my car to the West Main Street location and I am honestly shocked by the unprofessional experience I had. The guy working at the counter was RUDE and he had an attitude. And the wheel alignment was NOT done correctly. Actually, I don t know if it was done at all. Had to take it to Toyota so they could do the alignment.

I usually take my car to the Lindenhurst location on Montauk highway and there is NEVER a problem and the staff there is nice. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR TO THE BAY SHORE LOCATION ON W. MAIN.

Went to Mavis in Bayshore on Montauk Hwy for 4 new tires (continental extreme contact dws) and was told by Greg and Chris that my oil filter wasn't properly installed, I was leaking oil and basically had no oil in my car because of negligent work done at a Pep Boys just 2k miles ago. Long story short they helped prevent more engine problems and helped diagnose the issue. Definitely will be returning here because of the peace of mind of knowing that they know what they're talking about and actually inform me of issues (brought me under my car and pointed out leaks and some wear and tear) instead of just doing the job and getting the car out of the shop just to collect the money.

Came to the location West Main St. in BayShore recently.
Was tended to immediately . The mechanic Rashaud was polite and had my car taken care of quickly. Will definitely return to this mavis in the future and would recommend it

I took my car to Mavis to get 4 new tires and an aliment.
1st complaint- they tried to tell me my brakes were super low (5%) meanwhile I was at my mechanic 3 days before that and my brakes were 30%.
After sitting there for 3.5 hrs my car was done. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot I could tell something was off. My 2 yr old car was making noises I never heard before. Unfortunately, since I was sitting there so long, they were closing so I couldn't go back.
I brought it back as soon as I could- explained the noise. I told them to take it for a drive and make sure they go over 55 MPH. The manager comes back to me AFTER AN HOUR and tells me his "best" mechanic didn't hear anything wrong. Told the manager I will take his "best" mechanic for a drive. As soon as the mechanic got into the car I asked him if the manager told him he had to go over 55 MPH to hear it well, he said "No". The manager confirmed with me that he supposedly told him to go over 55 MPH before I said lets go for a drive together. Anyway, mechanic didn't hear what I heard. He said maybe it was the balancing so there was no way the aliment could be off. They re-did the balancing (another hour wait). Drove off- SAME NOISE!
Took it to my own mechanic- TWO RIMS ARE BENT!!!!!!!!!! (by the way-mechanic confirmed my brakes were still around 30%- no where near 5% like Mavis said trying to sell me $80 crappy brakes)
This is a fairly new car. No noise at all or bent rim UNTIL THEY TOUCHED MY CAR!
How does a TIRE place not notice TWO bent rims!!!! When I took my car back for the noise they said NOTHING was wrong with the car!
Another $300 I have to lay out to get my rims fixed elsewhere because MAVIS bent my rims!

I've been coming to this location for years. I recently moved and there are other locations closer but I come back here. They are always accommodating and honest. If they know there's a wait or it's going to take some time, they tell you ahead of time instead of telling you, it will be quick but your waiting 2 hours. The location is always clean and organized. If they find something additional wrong they will let you know and work with you. I've used other Mavis locations that I did not like, but I have no complaints or issues with them.

Going into my 4th hour waiting for four tires to be put on, car on lift for 2hrs..... why so long? Could of been in and out of mom & pop tire shop in a half hour and probably would of cost $40 more if that. When they finally finish gonna try to sell me on alignment but don't have another 5hrs to spend sitting around here.

As of this post, the manager's name is Greg. He's been always courteous and willing to do whatever he can to make your car "happy".
They do good front end work, brakes, tune ups, and oil changes.

Called the shop and came in to drop off my car for four new tires around 11 am. Should ve been a red flag when the guy behind the counter was fielding a call with a customer who apparently posted a bad review!

Service staff were friendly and polite, And told me it would be about 2 1/2 hours till I could finish the work. Said I would drop it off and return, no problem. Let them know how I had a 4 hourto start, whenever they were done with it, so ideally the sooner the better.

Called back around 2 PM when I hadn t heard anything. First they started to tell me about the brake service and a missing part to my car. I had no idea what they we re talking about and asked if they pulled the wrong paperwork which they did, they were telling me about another customers car. Said my car still hadn t been called back and they were a couple ahead of me. At that point, I was a little put off that they had not even started, but as I was already 2 1/2 hours invested and figured I d wait it out and just let them finish so I can get on the road.

Finally, I called again at 4:15 as they were closing at 5 PM according to their store hours. This time they told me they were still one or two ahead of me and they still had not even pull the car back!! I told him not to start and I would come pick it up and wasted 5 1/2 hours of my day and had to leav I told him not to start and I would come pick it up and wasted 5 1/2 hours of my day and starting A 4 Hour drive on the same wheels I had come to the store with.

I angrily advised them if they knew they had that many cars ahead of me that day, they should never have taken my car on and I would ve been happy and fine and found somewhere else to do it. Would never go there again

I had called ahead and spoke to Greg Giola to obtain pricing information for an alignment, balance and rotation. I was quoted a price and came in to find that there was no wait. I was weary of previous reviews indicating that it could take a long time but since i was in the neighborhood I thought I would chance it. Greg was courteous, and explained what maintenance needs to be done. The service was performed quickly and professionally by Nick. Tire rotation, alignment and wheel balancing was done in about an hour while I waited. I was charged exactly what I was quoted and there was no pressure to purchase any additional services. The staff was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. A truly pleasant experience and an example of how a shop should be run. I will be back.

These guys are the real deal.Need a NYS inspection.My Nissan Dealer told me the last time I had it in for a oil change that my brakes were getting very low. This Mavis location did the inspection and informed me that my brakes still had 60% of the life left on my brakes.Goid to see there are honest people out there.Had them do my oil change also.Nissan dealer will be hearing from me.Thanks again Mavis.for your honesty

Brought my car in to get a new set of tires since mine are very worn down. Tires were fairly priced and done with true care and professionalism. Greg and Jeff i believe their names were, are both truly nice guys and very knowledgeable.

So basically I have nothing but issues at mavis on main street in bay shore. twice my daughter went there for an oil change and they never put oil in her car and she had to drive to another state and the engine seized because they never put oil in it. This happened to 2 of her cars. then we had to pick up the car in another state .then recently in August my son got brand new tires there and they charge just for a wheel alignment but obviously they never did the wheel alignment and I got charge for it because the outer tie rod ends were broken so I had to bring it to another mechanic to get the tie rod ends done and I had to go to a different Mavis to get it repaired. Greg and Jeff are great guys but mechanics suck. Never ever go there.

I purchased4 new tires and paid for a wheel alignment i had to go back they didn't tighten the snug bolt on my tierod end which created a rattle went back a week later. They fixed the issue and given me free oil change however a month later my inner and outer tierod end failed on thanksgiving. Needless to say the expense and inconvenience.was grateful it didn't fail on thr parkway killing me and other's.

Go to HC Auto tire on 5th Ave (going northbound after the train tracks) or another Mavis if you need something more than free air.

I really wanted to be patient with them since I came to the staff needing help replacing my tire (one of my tires was just on the verge of popping, according to one of the mechanics). I waited about 1.5 hours just to have to wait more to get help. Ultimately I had to go to HC auto to get the help I need. I want to support Mavis since they weren't blatantly rude. But if your job is solely to help customers and their tires, you should probably prioritize and not forget the customer over your lunch break.

They changed my brakes in their estimated time for a more than reasonable price. The guys were nice. They had a area where you can sit and wait. I grabbed a bite to eat across the street at the dinner.

Wish I could give no stars. Scheduled an awesome to wait for my rear tires to be changed in the morning and was told it'd be ready by 3. Called at 3:30 because I had gotten no word on it and was told my car was JUST being put on the lift. Was told it'd be done by 4:30. I had a train to catch and figured I'd get it the next day. Called back at 4 to ask if it would definitely be ready by 5 at the latest (I decided to take a later train), and was told it would be. Arrive at 5 to see my car JUST being put on the lift!! I then had the gentleman who originally told me 3 that I was told it would be done later in the day. I was given the run around, wasted my time, and still had to come back the following day. Would not recommend this location. This was their second chance from me, never again.

I have had pretty solid experiences at other
Mavis locations, but I live closest to this one, and it is absolutely horrible. They are liars and thieves! My drivers side door was damaged and the wheel rim rubs against it and it makes a popping sound upon opening. It was fine when I got there and it never sat in the parking lot, heck I saw it almost. I waited there while they were changing oil and heard the lift coming down. They lied to me straight to my face and this was a small job that would've taken no more than 15 mins. I've spent thousands at Mavis in the past. They try to upset everything and give you parts you don't need. Really rude, shady people. Go elsewhere.
