There is no better Sunday in the world than a Sunday on the Rastro.
A wonderful atmosphere.
Unforgivable to miss it.
It is very good that they have been able to open some positions but .. they do much less the others .. x the variety and others ..
The most popular place in Spain ... You can buy anything, from an old painting, old toys or even a modern book of current literature ... Clothing, furniture, everything !!!!!! I recommend very comfortable footwear and patience to go through it, you will not regret SURPRISING 100% !!!!! Only Sunday morning until 3 pm Greetings friends.
There is certainly a lot to see here, but the crowds can be horrendous. Try to visit outside of peak hours in the middle of the day time.
Great market, nice to walk on Sunday, they sell everything, clothes, books, crafts, paintings, etc. They are several blocks and it is nice to visit
A lovely market with plenty of choices + good prices
I have always loved the trail and I am very sorry to see it empty its stores and especially its environment
Hoping that all this is done and agreements are reached with the merchants and the Rastro begins to work and my Mayor burns it
Nice market, lovely sunday morning activity. Don't show up to late because in the afternoon its gone.
And to Madrid and not go through the face would be a mistake. They open it on Sundays and you will find from the most unusual thing for its antiquity to the most original thing. You will see a multitude of people walking but that if you are very careful that the pickpockets are not robbed of you, they are watching someone who gives up to steal them
Picturesque place to visit if you are in Madrid. There is everything for everyone. Outdoor market with charm.
Okay okay place. Some of the goods sold here are more expensive than the ones available in proper stores nearby. Watch out
In fact "El Rastro" it's a way to say flea market. It's open just Sunday morning until 14.00. Highly recommended for antiques or many other things. It's good to go even if you don't buy anything.
I am from Madrid but I live outside and I can say that the trail is a must visit every time I go to Madrid. I never tire of touring the stalls and shops around with used things, decoration, furniture ... The More
Fantastic flea market with loads of touristy stuff too definitely worth a visit
A very lively place on Sunday mornings. There are almost everything except food. If you get inside the back streets, you can find many interesting things. In addition to that, for some time now, there is an area of design stores and very cozy and atmospheric cafes, which not only open the day of the trail. I recommend, above all, to visit it first thing, before 12, which is more clear and have a good breakfast in one of the cafes.
I loved it ... after 9 months I had wanted ... welcome trace
Pretty standard flee market. There are tons of vendors and some nice places to snack in restaurants that border the vendors. If you're on a tight schedule, I would skip it.
Huge crowds, alot of choices....be sure to go in the stores along el rastro as they hav egreat deals also
Very great big open market, it goes for long. Lots of people in the weekend, nice old, vintage original stuff, even vintage clothing and furniture and all kind of things, lots of good finds for collectors of old stuff. Coins, old photos, toys, posters. And great traditional food as well, street shows, music. A must in Madrid.
The essence has been changed to more stalls but it is still an entertaining place
Despite the passage of time, there is nothing so typical of Madrid on Sundays as the steep streets of the Rastro. Endless posts where you can find virtually anything.
Saturday morning open air market in La Latina, Madrid. Very busy, street musicians playing, great friendly atmosphere.
A very good market, I love it because you find old and practical things.
One of my favorite place in Madrid ! You can find nice vintage furniture. Don't be afraid to negociate, that is part of the game !!! The must do on sunday morning until 2.00 pm in Madrid
Beautiful market to visit and buy everything! Take something and have lunch too!
It is a great market. You find everything, good and many bad things. You have to know how to search. The atmosphere is nice. There is always a musician in some corner. It is interesting
If you go to Madrid to visit as was my case you must go
You find all kinds of old things and you also have a street market is immense there is security since there is a lot of police presence
A traditional place to visit in Madrid obligatorily
Magic place ! Crowded, loud, hot everybody has to see it. The oldest market in Madrid. Market is big with a lot of places with tradicial souvenirs from Spain like fans, aprons, magnets, hats and more (I recommend to buy it there, is 60% cheaper than in shops in the city center. You can buy there also clothes, shoes, bags, some pictures, cds etc. In the part with antiques there a lot of furniture, pictures, gadgets, toys and more. The atmosphere is unique. I ll come back there for sure !
Oops, you need hours to discover each stand.
Many people, although I think that is their charm
Probably one of the largest street/flea markets you'll ever see. Very large and very crowded, but a fun place to go with street music and so many shopping options. Bring water as it was hard to find and markets were few and far between.
Eager for me to return is a very endearing and diverse place
A truly obligatory stop is the market
Sunday . Between stalls and antique dealers
Beautiful walk and great offers. I brought many memories
Milk, I love it, you find anything you are looking for.
I love going every Sunday ....... you walk it through each street and it improves ... you don't get tired ... or you get bored. You also become friends of each position .... I don't miss every Sunday
You find commercial things, souvenirs at very low prices ... Without forgetting old items ...
Typical of Madrid, a lot of charm. I recommend going early because there are always a lot of people!
Loved it. A little of everything. Clothes, antiques, food. Perfect.
this huge flea market is a sensation, i will be back, so many streets full of stalls, a great experience. but right here applies, otherwise you will be washed away with the crowd
If you have a few days in Madrid and happen to be in the city on a Sunday the Rastro is great worth a half day.
A sprawling market that has everything from tourist stuff to clothes, electronic goods and antiques. The market goes up a main tree lined avenue that has many options for coffee, drinks and food as well as interesting shops.
Quality can vary but prices are generally negotiable most shop owners are friendly and will make a deal. The best reason to go though is to people watch and see many of the awesome live musicians and performers.
Recommend getting there early before the crowds do your shopping and then find a place to have a casual lunch near a live band. Be careful of your things as it is very crowded it can feel a bit much but the shops and restaurants off to the side of her a respite from the crowd.
You can find a thousand details. From old cameras, comics and decoration.
Very many people but very cool and with a very good atmosphere. To spend Sunday morning is great.
A nice market, full of vintage and old stuff. It is pleasant for Sunday walk, but don't expect to buy much.
For lovers of antiques and books ... for forced a Sunday morning in Madrid.
In Plaza Vara del Rey you'll get the cheapest souvenir shop! Crazy!
Typical market in the city which is only made on Sunday morning. You can find everything from clothing to antiques.
It is a good place to visit, you can find even the unthinkable.
An always attractive place. Variopinto what is sold and also visitors from all countries. Today August 15 has worked at 25% of usual
Purely tourist attraction that is not necessary to visit. You can find everything you would find at the weekly market in the city / neighborhood where you live. In the area around instead appreciable shops (Embajadores).
No flea market and most shop closed. Probably must be on Sunday. Manage to find one good restaurant serving delicious foods.
Heteroclite at wish. To do before noon then the crowd becomes denser.
El Rastro, is an open-air market with more than 400 years of history in which you can find all kinds of objects, both the most everyday and curious and ancient gadgets, all wrapped in an atmosphere of the most bustle. It is celebrated on Sundays and holidays in the Madrid neighborhood of La Latina. Formerly, in this area were tanneries, since the slaughterhouse was nearby and this gave name to the place, as a result of the transfer of the slaughtered cattle, created a trail of blood.
The Madrid trail is a market with more than 400 years of history, the name is due to the blood trail left by the cattle when they were transferred to the tanneries, very close to the slaughterhouse. The trail is an open-air market that celebrates the Sundays and holidays located in the popular neighborhood of La Latina (Historic center of Madrid). You can buy almost anything although there are streets specialized in different products. It is advisable to be careful with pickpockets. The bars in the area are famous for their tapas.
I m came a-crossed this restaurant by change and I happy I did! The waiter was super nice , big portions and the food was great.
The restaurant is quite big, even if doesn t seems like it when you enter the place (you have tables underground)
Essential visit ... essential visits so you do not look for anything and take things ... to look for something and go with others. A world ... a different world, different, from other places, even if they resemble it. An endless place, the same every Sunday ..., different every Sunday. Follow the trail of El Rastro: wait for you. Do not give him a sit-down.
You get good clothes at great prices. I bought some nice clothes
Very large market where you can buy from modern clothes to typical costumes, from fans to pots to prepare paella, to furniture or craft masks
A fun market to check out. Decent prices. Had a great afternoon there, afterwards went out for tapas in one of the local restaurants. Highly recommended.
A must do in Madrid. I prefer the streets with real old / vintage things
Totally packed with lots of stalls selling the same cheap stuff. Good people watching.
It is a place where there is a lot of this photo is corrada
Warm, colourful, musicful and messy market in the heart of Madrid. To visit in the early morning to avoid the crowd
It is a must on Sundays to visit El Rastro de Madrid, where you can find everything. During the week you can walk through these streets and have a drink, see their shops, their galleries ...
A pity that the merchants and the city council do not reach an agreement. Hundreds of families are being ruined
This is the largest fair in Europe that takes place on Sundays in Spain. Near the La Latina metro station. I bought all the souvenirs at this fair. Pachominas are cheap. It's worth visiting.
El Rastro is one of the must-sees on a Sunday morning, comfortable clothes and shoes and well-closed pockets. Here you can eat delicious olives and pickles, savor some typical tapas in the market, find antiques, curious things, and many bargains. You can also delight yourself with the organ and with the art of a wonderful group that accompanies us almost every Sunday of the year. Get up early because it's worth it.
