The team at the Fairmont really made the stay special. Paddy went above and beyond to help, consistently. Overall, great time! We look forward to Christmas in Jasper, at the Fairmont, in 2018. We are already booked!

I would have give JPL a 5 but unfortunately there were a few things that just went wrong during my stay. Could have been pure bad luck...but the disappointment came rather after as well. I took 4 days off to enjoy nature & explore Jasper. I decided to book at JPL because the facilities are beautiful & the staff is always or almost always AMAZING! I always try to be fair, & even on the bad experiences I try my best to see the bright side of things ( You can look at my reviews & will notice I try to give an honest feedback of what I see and experience) My arrival was fabulous I was tired and looking forward to a glass of wine by the fire place in the main bar lobby area. It was about 8:45 pm & the live music was lovely. The place wasn't too busy but you could tell the rush had just finished as many tables were full of dirty dishes and glasses. I waited about 10 min before actually having to ask at the bar if anyone could serve me. I know is busy so I didn't mind asking. My server Tasiya, was all smiles & apologetic for the slow service and also reassured my thoughts the busy period had just finish and they were starting to clear table and they had not see me arrived, which is totally fair no problem. Her services were prompt and she was absolutely fabulous. I was driven to my cabin by Mike very nice & polite man. The next day is when all went sideways...I suffer a small fall in the shower due to slippery tub...honestly nothing major but I had look for a tub/shower Matt there was none. No big deal I thought as for sure is an anti slipping tub, we'll it wasn't all good I just had a muscle spam due to the fast reaction. I requested a bag of ice just because I received a phone text asking how my stay was going otherwise I would have just lay down & relax to wait for the pain to go. Anyways they were very concern as they should and JPL made sure I was OK or they try. They sent security to check on the room and me etc how is expected after a small incident. Again I mentioned it wasn't serious that sadly just ruined my day but that was it. I had a tour booked so I had to stay in, my whole first morning plans were gone but I was thankful that I didn't break anything etc. Went on my tour had a great time still pain but just usual when such silly accident happened. Did not sleep good but whatever was for sure going to be OK and enjoy the next two days. I went for dinner and my server was again so nice Katelyn or Brittany I forget one was also my server at breakfast. Really wonderful people. Saturday I thought I would enjoy the hottub but unfortunately too many loud teens on it so Ieft back to my cabin ( what a boring mini vacation could not really go walk around because I was going to meet a couple for photos and adventuring around town and dinner and I didn't want to cancel. Anyways I went & check on the spa for a massage but was either that or my tour plans so I decided not to book a massage and enjoy my tour, got a cream on the shops for muscle pain ( they could have offer me some I guess or tell me about it) that was already disappointing, they had texted me and called me to check about me they could have offered me the cream or a massage after all but I wasn't going to ask for free stuff because is not who I am. I am not one of those people expecting all free because of an accident but I was disappointed once I discovered they did have that muscle cream. Anyway. They called again to check on me, I was better and thank for the call and mentioned that I had made arrangementsto leave early on Sunday after all what was the point of me staying and not being able to enjoy. A managers on duty I think did called, he talked fast, couldn't understand but he was checking I was OK. As you see they did try to see if I was fine ( I guess they have to make sure nobody is suing them, which I was obviously never even considering) The last night they texted again & offer me a complementary breakfast. I accepted. Well it was charged to my visa & still after 4 days I have yet to received a check out statement. I had to view my Visa online.
Our mini moon at the Fairmont Jasper was perfect. The service was prompt and convenient - all requests and questions were answered via text, and check in/out via email made the process faster. You can easily navigate the property via shuttle any time. The views from our suite were breathtaking and we enjoyed roasting Marshmallows in our room.
Lost its lustre. This was once a majestic mountain hotel that was worth the extra dollars to stay here. Today it is a shadow of itself, worn-out rugs, slapshod repairs and needing an uplift.
We stayed at the hotel recently (Oct 21/22/23), my brother, myself and our father who is very sick, has huge mobility issues, but wanted to stay here one more time. We called and booked directly with the hotel, and made it very clear that he "cannot do stairs', and we were assured that it wouldn't be a problem. Well our definition of no stairs is radically different from theirs as they had us in a lake front unit, on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. We compromised on a main floor lake front unit, with less stairs (so only about 6 or 7). Downside, this room wasn't ready, so after spending 4 hours driving with the elderly parent who just wanted a nap, we were hosted in the lobby lounge with a round of free drinks and snacks.
Before I go any further, I want to note that the staff are fantastic. Some of the best trained, customer service oriented staff I've encountered. Our butler Solomon did everything possible to make our stay fantastic.
Due to our mobility issues, big conference and it being shoulder season, we didn't have access to the entire hotel. We were informed that the Italian restaurant wasn't open for dinner so we ate in the lobby lounge both nights and had the priciest average meal ever. Food was bland and over priced, drinks were expensive and below average quality (I might be an expert), and over all was a poor experience.
I can honestly say, that unless something major changes, it will be a long time before I return to this hotel.
Thank you for the follow up, and the hotel manager did reach out and we are satisfied with the resolution.
I love this place... but too many things went awry on our last visit. Clogged drain, bug in food, questioned if our son qualifies for the free kids meal and so on.
As soon as I arrived at the hotel I thought "This is going to be great! The grounds are gorgeous and everyone was so nice." Then I got to my room. It felt like an icicle. I quickly turned up the heat, and about an hour later the temperature hadn't moved and I was FREEZING even in my coat, scarf, and hat. I called the front desk and they said they would send maintenance. When the maintenance personnel arrived, he commented on how cold it was in my room. The maintenance person found discrepancies with the back door and said the seal needed to be replaced and the door couldn't close all the way; he also brought me a space heater because the heater would not heat the room above 15 degrees. At this point I thought, no big deal - it happens. Then I ordered room service. I found a hard piece of plastic in my sandwich. I told the woman who took my order and they comped it from my bill. They quickly took care of me, and I appreciated that. About the time I ordered room service I decided to have tea. As soon as I turned the water heater on a circuit blew and the power to the space heater, tv, and appliance was lost. I called the front desk and they yet again sent maintenance. At this point I was starting to get a little annoyed. The maintenance guy was very nice (same person as before) which made it hard to stay annoyed. Again, good customer service in regards to an issue.
The walls are VERY thin. Once I went to bed, I realized how thin they were. I could hear my neighbor and it sounded like they were having a normal voiced conversation and they might as well have been in my room. The next morning I ordered room service again. I chose to have a green salad with my breakfast and asked for raspberry vinaigrette on the side - I'm not quite sure what "dressing" they brought me, but it tasted like straight melted butter. Thankfully the night before I had a salad I hadn't finished in the fridge and I kept the dressing, so instead of calling I just used what was in my fridge. I wanted to find a good restaurant to enjoy some food, but unfortunately BOTH nights I stayed the only one open - out of ALL the ones they boast about on their site - was the lounge. It was good, but it would have been nice to try a different restaurant. Pity. I came back to my room today and as I walked up the stairs I could hear the cleaning lady complain about "the toilet smelling." I quickly understood her disgust and realized IT'S COMING FROM MY ROOM. You have GOT to be kidding me. I went into my room and sat down and as the woman came out of the bathroom she started to complain yet again about how disgusting the toilet smelled to her coworker, but when she saw me she quickly stopped talking. I asked, Is that smell coming from my toilet? and she responded with, No, I think it's coming from the sewage. We can smell it outside of the room too. Then, the woman cleaning the bathroom comes out and starts to spray her cleaner ALL OVER THE FLOOR to "mask the smell." She is soaking the floor with the cleaner and I'm about to start getting ready to wind down for the evening, so I'm worried my feet and socks are going to get wet. This is ridiculous. It's 6 PM and they are just finishing up cleaning my room. THIS IS TOO MUCH. Now I'm pissed. And at this point, it's not even worth saying something to the front desk. As I write this review I am sitting in my room that smells like throw up and cleaner and anxiously waiting to leave tomorrow. Tonight I again found plastic in my food!! What in the world. They compted my meals but this has gotten ridiculous. I won't be coming back to this hotel, and as this was my first experience at a Fairmont I am a little unsure about ever staying at another Fairmont property again. I gave a 3 star review based on quality of the room/hotel (especially for the price paid), first impressions, and quantity of room issues. For such a "high quality" hotel there should not be this many discrepancies. I am thoroughly dissatisfied with my stay here especially for the price I paid. The price certainly does not reflect the quality of the hotel.
Stayed here for a conference and was blown away by the views. It sits right on Lac Beauvert and the athabasca river with beautiful views of the Rockies. You can rent canoes/kayaks to go out on the lake. Staff were very friendly and take good care of you. Minutes away from the golf course. Theres alot of different style rooms/cabins to get for your visit. There are plenty of trails that connect so you can easily spend a couple days hiking around. A nice place to check out is old fort point, it has incredible views of the jasper valley, majestic and pyramid mountians. Definitely a nice place to spend the week and would recommend staying here
-Fantastic location, right on the lake with a nice boathouse and trails. -Amenities are nice. -Rooms were late to be ready -tub was broken. -staff came to the rooms at 8:30AM to remind people to check out on time (weird). It was good enough I'll go again, but probably when rooms are on sale.
The staff are wonderful and charismatic. Good service and views on this property will take your breath away. I recommend everyone to come experience this place and play golf. Breakfast is top notch
We come here every year for the past 6 to 7 years for Christmas and this year was the worst. First, when booking for 2 rooms, and trying to describe that we want a cabin with common living space or a corridor that connects the room, you would think our rooms would be connected especially when it was booked around Oct. We asked for Christie cabins which was the name of the cabins we stayed before (the one where there is separate bedrooms and a common living space. They changed the name and it seems like now no one has heard of Christie cabins. No one seems to Even try to figure out where Christie cabins are. Even if you don't understand what is meant by corridor between the rooms, common sense of a high end hotel reservation would ask, would you like the rooms connected. It is winter here. Why would we want to walk back and forth between the cabins when we are one group.
Second, to be energy efficient, the setting on the heater is maximum 21C. Though rather low for my comfort, I can accept it if you had decent duvet. My duvet has disintegrated so there is filling in one corner and the rest of of empty. So I'm sleeping really with just the duvet cover and bedsheet in a room that I already do no feel warm. So my sleep obviously was terrible because I was cold
Third, housekeeping did not replaced used toiletries in other words the shampoo, conditioner and body soap were used. They were left in the shower and placed nicely. You wouldn't know that they were used until you lifted it then saw they were half full. As a new guest to the room, I would expect that even if they looked unused, they would be removed for fresh supplies. If there is concern of wastage, then do as other hotel chains and use a dispenser.
I get staying at budget hotel and not having high expectations but a Fairmont???? The brand should has a reputation which I do not see at that Jasper Park Lodge.
Not great. We decided to stay because of the reputation of Fairmont properties. The cabin we stayed in was very underwhelming to say the least. Probably my own fault for not reading fine print but my lakeview was partial view, behind a cabin and looking through trees. The room was small, had no air conditioning and was severely dated. Not at all what we expected for $700 a night!!
Stayed one weekend night in early January. We were able to check in early which gave us more time to explore the facilities and hit the pool and hot tub. Our room was a good size with a big comfortable king bed. We used the dog daycare service while we were having dinner. The sushi restaurant was fantastic. You usually need to make reservations waaay in advance (month+) but as a twosome we snuck in. Everything felt expensive, but that was to be expected. There was a lot of ice on the walks and paths around the grounds but I d rather deal with ice than icemelt on my dog s paws. Very pet friendly, which was a big draw for us. Could be five stars but it s definitely not budget friendly.
I'm quite fond of the rustic feel blended with the modern amenities offered at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. It makes for a lovely getaway nestled in the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle. I always feel like a valued guest, and the Fairmont experience is consistently wonderful. It can be a bit pricier than some other accommodations, but it's worth the little but extra once in a while!
We only came to eat and skate. The restaurant area was fantastic, the atmosphere (casual country ski lodge feel with large open space) the food was good but the service was over the top!
Great resort! Amazing location. We always have a great time when we stay here. Beef hamburger is delicious! Back again in 2020 and still feel the same.
A great place to enjoy a variety of things from nature to luxury. It has nice rooms, restaurants, outdoor heated pool and hicking. I would highly recommended it.
A young man at the front desk made the difference. I believe his name was AJ. When we had problems getting our room he made a bad situation better so that our 46 year anniversary would better. Beautiful place
Arriving at the property which was a short 10 minute drive from the town of Jasper, the entire site was maintained and has a certain rustic cottage feel from the drive to the parking area to the main building itself. They have a variety of types of rooms or chalets to rent and a lot of amenities to choose from such as a spa, dining at a few different restaurants or swimming outdoors in the winter. The food is very good but nothing you wouldn't expect from a Fairmont hotel, and the service I received was excellent. Overall a great experience and a lovely place to stay and enjoy the national park.
Beautiful grounds and lake plus restaurant patios with good food and stunning views. Great list of nearby activities and sights to see.
However, for $650 a night i expected more from customer service, hotel regulations and the room. Upgraded to standard King. Room did not feel like it for the price. All pillows were low quality and soft with poor support. Walls are paper thin.
Was woken up at 8:50am by banging outside both of my room doors (unit 345). Walked outside in my underwear and saw housecleaning. Loud banging persisted for 40 minutes on and off. Not sure why they were cleaning a room beside mine before 10am especially given the age of the rooms and lack of sound insulation.
Upon checkout the front desk staff did not ask me how my stay was so I told them about being woken up by cleaning staff. She nodded and proceeded to give me my bill for food and other activities I charged to the room saying she would "let her supervisor know." What a huge lack of customer service for such an old, renowned hotel chain. My fiancee (who was with me) used to work in the industry and that response is below the expected standard. Actually it was a non-reply really.
I also wanted to use the pool but their 25 person capacity limit made it full with a long wait throughout the day. No biggie because of covid. I understand that one. Just be forwarned about that since they haven't updated descriptions on booking sites to let customers excited for the pool know.
I spent nearly $1000 at this hotel for an okay room and 2 meals. Did not leave satisfied whatsoever. I don't mind forking out cash for luxury experiences, unfortunately the dollar amount in this case just wasn't worth it. What you are paying for is the beautiful scenery, not quality rooms or customer service.
On a positive note, food was good and restaurant service was great! Recommend visiting this hotel as a guest for food and lakeside activities during the day, that's about it. OR, go to the fairmont in Banff or Lake Louise, had top notch experiences at those locations!
Beautiful resort and incredibly attentive staff. This was our third time staying at the Stanley Thompson cabin, and the staff and amenities at JPL always exceed our expectations. Already looking forward to our next stay.
Stayed in one of the rooms in the main Lodge which was clean, and well kept. The bed was comfortable. Bath tab was large enough for someone just short of 6 foot to completely lie down in. Food in the lounge was excellent for lunch and dinner. Drinks are a bit on the pricier side, but the service was excellent. If you are staying in the main lodge, you will be forced to use the valet parking. The lounge is always an amazing place to relax in, especially during the holiday season with the fire places roaring and the smell of hot cider being freshly made. Out door hot tub and pool is also a nice addition to a relaxing weekend.
Honestly, the service at this place is tremendous! You get a sunset cruise for free, so many activities throughout the day. Definitely the place to stay when coming to jasper! Very close to the town also.
We keep coming back because we have such a great experience every single year. This year we took a chance and brought DVD's. There was no DVD player in the room, but they went above and beyond to find us one, when we did not expect them too. Fantastic service!
We rented stand up paddle boards here for the first time it was very easy. Sone what of a standard rate 50 a hour but it comes with all the bells and whistles. Lake is pretty but also boring
We had the most horrible experience at Jasper Park Lodge this past weekend. We drove there on Friday night after work and arrived there at 10:30pm. At the gate an employee asked us some COVID questions which we answered and then wanted to check our temperature. We asked him whether he was a medical professional. He was not and he instructed us to talk to the manager (Alex something).
We again asked the manager to have a medical professional take our temperature. We did not decline to have the temperature check but requested that a medical professional does so. At which point the manager asked us to leave. We had to drive back to Edmonton in the middle of the night and arrived home at 2:40am.
I had made reservations for $580/night. I was told we were going to be reimbursed and that the amount will appear on the cc within 5-10 days. I will update my review accordingly.
Also I want to note that I have never received any emails explaining their COVID procedures at any time at the time of making the reservation or afterwards. A horrible experience and a breach of privacy (especially when Dr. Tam stated that temperature checks are ineffective in identifying COVID).
Stunning hotel with excellent services and friendly staff. The only flaw the magnificent log cabin are not equipped with air conditioning .... it is true that in most cases there is absolutely no need but unfortunately during the days of our stay we suffered a bit of the atypical warm. Nevertheless we had a great time!
I recently stayed at Banff Springs, The Chateau Lake Louise and the Jasper Park Lodge. My experience at Banff Springs was the best and JPL was the worst. The front desk at JPL was a disaster, poor service, as was the restaurant. It took over an hour to get wine glasses brought to the room and the room itself was shabby at best... dollar for dollar, Banff Springs is the best value... assuming you believe $650.00 per night is worth it.
Bugs in the bathroom, cigarette butts on our front step that staff wouldn't clean after we asked. Way too overpriced for what it offers: all restaurants closed down except for main lobby which was $$$$$$ ridiculous. I realize this is an old establishment but it was dirty, not kept well. Staff and contractors were given free rooms and staying across from us. Will never stay again. Maybe better luck in the summer when there is more than 3 staff members to deal with??
There are a lack of family suitable accommodations in Jasper, so we often stay at the Lodge because of the pool and hot tub facility and play area. There are also kids meals, but our children have common allergies (nuts and milk) that we've never been confident that the restaurants can handle. On every visit, there is an issue with allergy communication with different servers just dropping food off with obvious butter, cheese or whipped cream for our allergic children. Our nut allergic child had a reaction once as well and we were unable to determine where the contamination came from. We no longer eat on site and travel into Jasper to eat or get take out and bring it back.
The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, but dated and tired. The bedside reading lamps are all broken with dangling wires. The bathrooms and some patios have dry rot in the wood, peeling paint, dirty window screens and the showers in the regular cabin buildings have poor water pressure. The suites are much better and have nice bathtubs and stand alone showers. The toiletries are often not replaced daily. If you get a room with a fireplace, it is clear that the JPL does not intend for you to have more than 1 fire because they don't restock wood or kindling or even clean the fireplace during the stay unless you request it multiple times.
Check-in is also always delayed. Our room has never been ready on arrival - on at least 6 occasions for our family when we've arrived late in the day. The room often takes over an additional hour after our arrival to be ready, and with road weary children, it's not nice to have to settle them in the lounge/bar area paying for overpriced drinks while waiting around.
This place is mainly a high end motel and you're paying for the great location. We would never pay full price for a room here.
The people working in this hotel are so friendly. Just ask them and they do everything possible to make your stay comfortable. And I met some awesome people on my patio in front of my room.
A true 5 star resort in the Canadian Rockies, amazing scenery, the lodge and cabins are perfect for the setting and the service is outstanding. Pay up for the Signature Cabins, the Butler service is such a luxury. So many activities available, inc #1 Resort Golf in Canada.
The Fairmont was outstanding I am truly blown away by the staff. We were there for a three day conference. When asked for the vegan option the staff member not only went out of his way to ask the cook to make us something, but three days later at the check out breakfast buffet came over to us to explain what was vegan what was not. Outstanding service.
Although it's taken some time to write this review, we had the absolute pleasure of seeing Brent Cairn's Magic Show during Christmas at the Jasper Park Lodge and he totally blew us away ! Our 8- year-old daughter was so enticed, she bolted out of her seat to sit on the floor, closer to the magician, in the hopes of being part of the show which she was, as were many children. Brent was amazing with kids and liked to give them a chance to participate. They were howling with excitement!! As parents, we certainly couldn't figure out his magic so have to say, it must be real!!!! Thanks for the incredible show and the only suggestion for the future would be, BRING BRENT BACK, and perhaps more advertising by the property would have drawn a larger crowd (a banner outside the ballroom or balloons or flashy lights .......??) This guy deserved an overflow but given the amount of activities going on at the lodge at any given time, it's hard to track everything but given his show was just off the main lodge lobby / lounge area, it could have been much better advertised given the huge amount of foot traffic that walks by this room. Thanks to Brent for the fabulous show and huge thanks to the JPL for bringing in such a class act! Fun, fun, fun!! That's what keeps us coming back!! Jackie & Rob
Don't expect this to be a hotel. There are a number of cabins of various shapes and sizes that have different room layouts. While admittedly we booked late, we ended up spread across the grounds. Compared to the Fairmont Lake Louise, the rooms are clearly overpriced. Essentially what you get is an overpriced motel type of experience. And be careful having the bell hops deliver your luggage. They never showed up to assist us and lost the bags of another traveller by putting them in the wrong room.
We had a great night here on our honeymoon. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the lobby bar and chatting with the bartenders there... and that HUGE skillet of nachos.
Beautifull place which has everything you need. The hotel provides boat to use on the lake.
I want to thank specially Amit from the reception who was very kind and available for help we needed. Amit was our contact persone at the front desk and actually the face of the hotel. Amit's kindness and attitude makes us recommend to stay at the hotel.
beautiful grounds. aome of hotel and restaurant staff were a little snarky but it was end of summer and end of covid summer so no doubt stress and fatigue playing a part by this point. our 2 cabins were great but our big one (the 2nd largest on property), had a auger tiny kitchen right off the entrance which was awkward and not suitable for the size of family we were trying to feed and the kitchen size and amenities were not up to the same level as the rest of the cabin which was luxurious, spacious and beautiful.
Great view with even greater service. The staff are extremely helpful and professional. You can tell the grounds and lodge are taken care of around the clock. It has a true mountain-y type feel.
Our favorite family getaway without having to get on a plane! Most of our family is in Mexico and so we throughly enjoy spending our holidays here the staff always treats us like family and are kind and caring. Truly feel like a princess when we stay here, so many fun activities and the most delicious food you can eat! Can't wait to come back.
