Tonight Valerie and I had our first meal out since the start of lockdown. We had been nervous about being in an environment where other people were not using masks but then how can you in a restaurant.
We were greeted by the staff in a very friendly but casual way. They were obviously coping with the new govt scheme that has been started today. We were slightly surprised that none of the staff were wearing face shielding.

After a short time we chose a starter to share and mains along with a nice Rose.
The food arrived promptly and was delicious.
We shared a houmous starter with flat bread. Delicious. Plenty of garlic.... Maybe it needed a little more lemon juice but we enjoyed it.
I chose an aubergine main and Val had the Moroccan salad. The salad was light, fresh and lovely.
My aubergine was so complex the flavours crept up on my palate.

We were too stuffed to have a dessert.

My mother used to say. " J'ai les dents du font qui bain"..... My back teeth are taking a bath...

1st visit to EH. Lovely food but dreadful service. Our table was booked for 7.30 and our food still hadn't arrived an hour later! My friend was leaving the table early to go on night shift and had to take her food away in a doggie bag. EH did redeem themselves but not charging my friend and another of our party for their meals as they had muddled up the order. They were also given vouchers for use at a later date and everyone in our party was offered a free dessert which we had. The food was lovely once we got it, but lessons need to be learned by the venue to prevent a repeat performance.

Absolutely gorgeous food. Was so happy we came here. Was great being able to not worry or fret over a menu, it was almost too difficult to choose there were so many good options. I highly recommend the cauliflower starter - it was incredible.

Top notch vegan/plant based fine dining in a comfy and welcoming atmosphere. There is plenty of cosy seating, it's a plush and quirky dining area, affording a charming view of tombland (if you have a window view)

They serve a number of cocktails, all of which were mixed to perfection and the food was seasoned by people that clearly know what they're doing with vegan food.

Will absolutely be going again and hope to encourage our friends/family to visit too.

Ordered 2 x fish and chips to be delivered via deliveroo. My wife has severe intolerance to gluten so therefore ordered 1x gluten free and 1x standard fish and chips on deliveroo website. Received delivery but neither were marked as gluten free. Tried to contact Erpingham House by phone but no answer. We sent a message on Facebook messenger. They replied promptly and said to submit a refund request via deliveroo. We did this twice but didn't receive the refund. Obviously my wife couldn't take the risk of eating so had to make her something different. Both meals looked identical so wasn't sure whether they were both standard or gluten free. Erpingham house have since confirmed that both meals were gluten free. Obviously she was not to know this and confused why deliveroo menu offers a standard option as well as GF if this is the case.

I also have to say the taste of the meal was insipid as I attempted to tackle her meal as well as mine.

where do i START - i came here for my 22nd birthday meal with my carnivore family and we all left in absolute awe of the place. the venue is beautifully decorated, mixing minimalism with accent pink / tropical colours. the service was 10/10; our lovely waitress Natasha was such a sweetheart. the food & drink was spot on perfect; the flavours jumped out with each bite, the presentation, the quality & value of money, it was all just above what i expected.
i also met Meg, a superstar chef known to the vegan community who i was slightly star struck over, and she was an absolute gem. i cannot wait to come back here.

Went here and had the Nachos. I was expecting more for the price and whilst the ambience and the service was great, the food was a little on the expected side and not really the fantastic vegan revelation I had been primed to expect.

As someone else once described it to me - it's very "instagrammable" but the food isn't very good. The staff are very polite and attentive and the restaurant looks beautiful. Unfortunately the food on our visit was beyond bland, not even lightly seasoned. A risotto barely even tasted of rice!...but it looked pretty.

Another thing to note, at time of writing, is that the head chef isn't even vegetarian and used to source exotic meats for celebrity chefs - which seems weird for a restaurant that preaches veganism so publicly.

There are numerous vegan and non-vegan restaurants creating amazing vegan dishes in the city so there is no excuse.

I've been here three or four times with my wife, we are both plant based and desperately want to love this place as it's so local. The decor is great, and clearly a lot of thought has gone into the design, but everytime we are disappointed by the quality of the food and staff knowledge. We have eaten in some great vegan restaurants around the world and unfortunately the food here just doesn't match the pricing or service level.

Pretty disappointed after following this place online for months and finally visiting. Food nowhere near as described on social media and lots of items missing that I was looking forward to including no hot drinks menu. Staff friendly but seemed lost and confused plus over priced for a small bit of chili, tortilla chips and shop bought guacamole. Not sure if they were going through a transition at the time but I hope it picks up.

Amazing restaurant in the centre of Norwich. So many incredible dishes on the menu when I visited like: Pad Thai, Mushroom wellington roast dinner, Avocado linguine, Jackfruit korma and Mac 'n' greens. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. Highly recommended!

Called to ask about suitability for a soya allergy...

Called to ask about suitability for a soya allergy, was assured at least half the menu was doable without soya and they'd email me a list of what's good. The email never came. I called again, promised the same thing, didn't deliver. Me and my partner decide we'll wing it and book a table anyway. I called to reserve and she took my name and number because "the manager will be back in half an hour". Why does the manager need to be present to take a booking?
I called back in 30 minutes because they didn't. The manager would apparently be another 20 minutes. Very busy woman, clearly. While I had their attention, I mentioned that I hadn't received the email detailing soya free dining. She apologised and assured she'd get it to my inbox right away, and ended the call without taking my email address. She lied to me.

They failed hard at service, from over 100 miles away, and I won't be trying it.
Allergy sufferers, consider yourself warned. They're full of **it.

Wow what an amazing meal we had, absolutely blown away. We have been plant based for about 6 months or so, and have discovered that a lot of vegan options can be very disappointing. This was not the case at Erpringham!

We had bao buns to start (sharer) which were so full of flavour and very filling!! And we both had a burger, which again was full of flavour and incredible! The pretzel bun was like nothing else I have ever tried before, outstanding.

Our server was kind, polite and friendly and made us feel very welcome. All in all 10/10 food in a beautiful setting with excellent staff. Would highly recommend and will be ranting and raving about this place to everyone Cant wait to return and try everything else (May skip the starter next time ,so I am not too full to enjoy a dessert)!!

Excellent vegan eatery. I am a meat eater myself, but my daughter is vegan and gluten intolerant. We had a look at the menu online and decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. Even as a carnivore, I found the Moving Mountains cheeseburger to be excellent - great taste and texture, and filling. There were four of us at lunch and we had a variety of dishes, and all were brilliant. We'll cooked, full of flavour, filling, and great value for money. Staff were all top notch, and bill came in well under what I was expecting. I highly recommend Erpingham House, and will definitely be back.

This weekend was my first visit to Erpingham House...

This weekend was my first visit to Erpingham House, and sadly there was a shocking mix up with my gluten-free order. Having visited with a friend, I ordered a gluten-free version of the all-day brunch. To be fair to the waitress who served us, she was very lovely and diligent at repeating back the order and confirming gluten-free. As soon as the food was brought over (by a different waitress) I noticed the bread looked suspiciously gluten-filled! So I asked the waitress to confirm it was in-fact gluten-free. She confirmed that is was (without asking the kitchen) so I happily began to eat away. I was four bites into the bread, before the original waitress came back to reveal there had been a mix up in the kitchen and I was in-fact eating bread with gluten in it.

I have been gluten-free for 5 years now, and in all my years of being gluten free, this has never happened to me. I was shocked, especially as I considered Erpingham House to be the kind of place that would take dietary requirements seriously. I am only gluten-intolerant, so I could not help but think how much worse this would have been had I been allergic or coeliac. I hate to leave bad reviews, as the food was quite tasty, once I received the correct bread! Plus the waitress who originally took our order seemed very careful and apologetic. It's just a shame the other staff were not. The restaurant wasn't even that busy too, so it's surprising something like this was overlooked.

We were also only offered a free hot drink for the mistake. While I appreciate the gesture, I would expect a mix-up that big to have warranted taking my meal off the bill at the very least.

While it pains me to leave negative feedback, I thought that this is the kind of thing that if I was gluten-free, I would want to know before visiting. I would certainly advise caution to all with dietary requirements who wish to eat there in future.

We hope to come back again soon.

I have been to Erpingham house a few times before and never been disappointed. I was excited about the veganuary offer, which I heard about from the owner himself when he visited Aviva last week. However, upon today's visit, when I queried about the offer I was told it was not available. The starters and the main course were delicious. However, the dessert was a bit disappointing. I ordered the dark chocolate brownie, which came out quite hard and possibly still a bit frozen (liked it nonetheless). I was surprised to find a small piece of plastic in the brownie.

This was one bad experience, but I have been here a few times and had good service and great food. I would probably visit again and hope that the recent trend in poor reviews is taken on board.

I had great hopes of Erpingham House but it really didn t come up to expectations.
The restaurant decor was great and the building was beautiful but...
The service was really hurried.
GF options weren t marked despite the website making great play of most of our menu is gluten free. The waitress had to take us through which options could be made gluten free but she dashed through it like she couldn t wait to crack on.
Basic stuff like the hummus and the truffle nuts were nice but both of our mains were really bland and dry. This was particularly annoying because anti-vegan folk are always throwing accusations of blandness at vegan food.
The options for dessert were pretty sparse so I just went for espresso which was frankly, extremely bad.
For the upmarket vegan option in Norwich I was hoping for much much more.

As a filthy carnivore I was dragged here by my vegitarian girlfriend. My hopes for a great meal were low but I should have prepared myself for some really tasty smartly presented and clever food. I say clever as this place is 100% plant based yet her mock lamb and my fsh and chips (yes that's fish without the letter i ) tasted so much like real flesh it was uncanny.
The decor of the restaurant is incredibly feminine, all flowers and fairy lights with pink seating which I thought was over the top. I would have given five stars If it was less in your face.

All very time consuming. It was a shame as the food when we finally got it was lovely and the sweet pizza dessert was amazing.

I have just started my vegan lifestyle, Erpingham was my first vegan restaurant as as a vegan as I was celebrating hubby's birthday. They did not disappoint. The food was amazing and we both enjoyed it even though hubby is not a vegan. It was made with love and the portions are generous. I will strongly recommend.

Been here twice now, both times the service has been poor and the food has been a let down, even worse for the price. I want to support it as it is a local business, but I don't want to go back.
Edit due to owner response: you should have the name Hunt booked in for Halloween, I did not book for your unlimited pancake event, but can provide you payment proof. It is not the best tactic so subtly try to suggest I was not actually there by saying you cannot find me on the booking system. Very poor attitude.

We had a table booked for two under the now extended eat out to help out scheme, so we knew it was going to be cheaper than usual and wanted to splash out. We got the hummus flatbread and sesame soy cauliflower for starter - both were delicious, would get either of them again! The sauce on the sticky cauliflower was to die for. I also got a rhubarb gin and tonic which was lovely with a beautiful flower garnish. For mains we got the thai noodle tempeh salad and the fsh and chips - again, both were absolutely gorgeous and we were very full after this! I think two courses is enough to fill you up comfortably here. We also got some delicious red wine.

When the bill came we were so pleased to be told by the waitress that our entire food bill would actually be covered by the restaurant meaning we only had to pay for drinks! This was a welcome surprise and we were feeling very lucky and grateful to have booked for this night. I think it was a one off offer in conjunction with the restaurants continued eat out to help out scheme.

Staff were extremely attentive and friendly all night, food was delivered quickly and to an extremely high standard. Would definitely come back!

The food was terrible, and we are longtime vegetarians that we are really excited to be trying the new vegan restaurant in Norwich. It was excessively greasy (cauliflower wings and nachos) and salty to the point but some of it was inedible (the hummus and the jackfruit). We both left most of the food on our plate.. The service was very slow for a restaurant that was maybe half full, but we were still seated next to a huge table of 14 people, making it very noisy needlessly, when there were plenty of other seating options available. Just a lack of common sense really. The value would ve been good if it was edible! A beautiful building, shame to see it wasted.

Just noticed how the owner replies to people's reviews, I was quite shocked as I've never seen a business owner speak to rightfully disappointed clients like that. Would have left 2 stars if they took feedback with grace and politeness..

I visited the restaurant this evening and I ve got to say I absolutely loved it! The staff were so friendly and the restaurant was well set out for good social distancing. I ended up getting the Epringham Cheeseburger and my god that burger is delicious! The waitress who served me, sorry I didn t get your name, recommended the onion rings and man I was not disappointed! If I wasn t so full after my meal I would of definitely eaten the whole range of desserts. I just wish you had a restaurant closer to my home and i would probably spend a LOT of my spare time there.... Sorry thighs!xx

My partner and myself visited for a midweek treat after friends pulled out of other plans.

We both left Erpingham House very content! I had the Mock lamb which wonderful, very tasty, and an experience I haven't had since being veggie. He had the fsh n chips which was equally amazing. The desserts were very good too.
In all the food blew us away, some of the best vegan/veggie food we've had in a long time - possibly ever, and we are very much looking forward to our next treat in the future to sample other things from the menu.

I've eaten here a few times and whilst the building itself is pretty impressive (and the decor is nice if you're into that sort of thing) I have to say the food is a bit lacklustre. There are many great restaurants in Norwich serving creative and exciting vegan food but this is, in my opinion, not one of them.

The recent advertising push caught our eye, so as vegan food fans we booked a table.
The entrance hall with its flower wall, neon lit sign, desk and green coloured walls is very cool. Following the stairs up to the small restaurant we were greeted by a very magical fairy lights lit tree in the centre of the room.
Everything about the Venue built our anticipation of the foodie delights to follow.
We ordered a couple of the Mushroom and tarragon pies and a child's pizza. As the pie didn't include anything else, a portion of winter vegetables was ordered as well.
As the food was placed in front of us my first thought was how disappointing the plate looked with just a small, albeit attractive pie on it, more surprising was how bland the mushroom and tarragon filling tasted. The seemingly wide variety of mushrooms just didn't add up to any sort of flavour and the tarragon wasn't noticeable unfortunately.
The service was good and the venue magical but unfortunately the overpriced bland food definitely didn't justify the hype, what a real shame.

I always want to support all vegan restaurants.

I always want to support all vegan restaurants.
But this restaurant was taking liberties.
We came here in the winter and inside the restaurant it was freezing. We sat there for the whole meal shivering and freezing cold.
The service was slow but they were friendly.
The menu consisted of 6 dishes. Three of which were unavailable as they had sold out.
When my meal arrived, it was literally half a cabbage sitting on a plate with a tiny bit of garnish in a drizzled form on the side of the plate.

We had chocolate fudge cake for dessert which was delicious.
The interior decor is very pretty and inspirational, it's a shame we couldn't say the same for the food.
We haven't been back since and haven't been able to recommend it to anyone.

Great vegan cafe/restaurant in heart of Norwich. Fantastic range, I was there for lunch. I had soup with a vegan cheese toastie and the largest cinnamon swirl ever. The soup was delicious, maybe just a tad salty for my taste. The coffee was excellent. Cinnamon swirl was beautiful in terms of texture, and fresh out of the oven, but I'd have liked more cinnamon personally. A great feed and very reasonable, staff very helpful and service quick. Will definitely be back for dinner soon!

I really wanted to give 5 stars! The food was absolutely amazing! Would reccomend the hummus starter! Best I've ever had! Its such a beautiful restaurant too!
However, the service was a bit if a let down. We were sat waiting between meals for ages. Our waiter also kept forgetting things for our table. E.g. asked for water and didnt recieve any, asked for dessert menu but didn't get it until 20 mins later when we had to ask again once she approached us and asked if we wanted the bill.
It wasn't at all busy either but seemed like they didn't want to be there which was disappointing.
However, I would go back just for the amazing food!

The cafe and restaurant/bar both have separate menus, cafe is great for breakfast or lunch with smoothies, buddha bowls, tea and speciality coffee.
