My family has used this practice for 3 years but a problem has developed. I am grateful for the careful attention of the healthcare providers. The Doctors, Chemo nurses, office staff and Assistants seem well-trained, and perform their tasks skillfully. I have sat in the waiting room during my spouse's chemotherapy for hours and found comfort in the soundless videos of animals doing amusing things on an enormous flat screen dominating the entire room.
However, in October, threatening short films have been added that made many of us nervous. The screen was flooded with posters demanding the impeachment of the President of the United States. Getting rid of our President may be a goal of some, but for us whose lives are already in crisis, being hammered with that message while we are trying to relax is horrifying. I don't want to sound like a neurotic needing a "safe space" but the waiting room at Cancer Care is no longer a peaceful, non-controversial environment.
When I read literature for cancer patients and caregivers, the emphasis on spiritual strength & inspiration suggests that adding Scripture quotes to the videos instead of "get rid of this President" advertisements would soothe and encourage people in the waiting room. People who don't believe that there is a God, cannot reasonably take offense at reading that God loves them or blesses them. For the rest of us, it would be a comfort.
Excellent care, nurses are amazing and the doctor really seems to care about me and takes time to answer all my questions
Great experience here. Awesome doctors and staff, they will make you feel really comfortable. They have some of the most amazing care giving staff that are always willing to assist to any patient needs. Each one of the Drs have a care team which includes medical assistant, nurse and a PA assigned which makes it easier when it comes to needing to communicate anything with the Doctors. I highly recommend Cancer Care Specialists for all your Hematology and Oncology needs.
This review is for Dr. Riganti.
I called to schedule an appointment. Scheduling coordinator asked for release forms, medical records, etc. from my previous surgeon. I explained to her that I d like to discuss treatments other than chemo and asked if they were willing to work with people like me. She said yes so I did everything they requested and waited 5 days before receiving a reply.
When diagnosed I was a high stage 3/possible 4.
They wasted so much of my time only to be told that my I don t need immediate attention and the next available appointment is in Sep.
So, after I nearly feel out of my bed laughing at the awesome thought that my aggressive cancer is not urgent and can wait until Sep (when I might be near death by then), I asked why and they said because you re already established somewhere else.
Now, this was something I mentioned when I talked to the scheduling coordinator to begin with (I told her I had seen another oncologist but wasn t happy with how I was treated and after telling her why, she said she understood.)
It s folks like these that cause people to not trust the medical system.
Thanks again for wasting what precious time I have left.
The providers and staff here at Cancer Care Specialists are caring and knowledgeable. I always receive a warm welcome from the front desk staff as well.
We took our father to another oncologist. The experience was terrible. The doctor was very brief, very rushed and didn't seem to pay attention to our concerns. We went to see Doctor Singh and the experience has been completely opposite. We have been in four times to see Doctor Singh who always takes time to answer all the questions and concerns . We are not rushed to get out of the door of the exam room. He is patient even though he is talking to three women about their husband and father.
It does often take a long time to get someone on the phone but we have found the staff to be caring and helpful.
Excellent group of doctors and healthcare professionals.
Great place for treatment. Love my Dr & the care team. Things have gotten much easier since their imaging center opened.
Dr Singh and his staff are a complete joke and truly out for money - period. I watched this doctor and his staff tell my mother and I that my dad had a hernia when his liver was failing.... My father passed away a few days after they told us lies and questioned us like they knew it all when we brought it up. We found out the truth after going to the ER.... They shouldn t have a practice because they simply don t care about there patients, only the money and those patients they see money in aka that they can treat. Otherwise, when the time comes and there s no more treatment they can offer, they kick u to the curb and aren t even honest with you. Please God don t go there trust me.
I left a review on 3/15/2016 and it seems to have disappeared. Very odd that all those reviews are gone, especially since half were negative. This "Doctor" Singh is lousy. His bedside manner is nonexistent. He googled my medications after I verbally told him what I was taking and I had asked if the lab results could be a side effect, even though all my info was in my chart my primary doctor sent over. He clearly didn't look at my chart until he was face to face with me for all of the 10 minutes the appointment was allowed. He told me "it looks like leukemia" and had me wait over 3 months for a follow up after I already waited to see him for 3 months. I was a nervous wreck. He's never on time when you do get in to see him so bring a book. BTW, I am fine and do not have leukemia.
And if you ask for another doctor in the practice...you must get approval from the doctor in charge, who does not return calls. Reno needs a different facility. GO ELSEWHERE FOR TREATMENT!!
A wonderful office. From the moment you walk into the lobby all the way through treatment, everyone you encounter is truly special. Their empathy and thoughtfulness was present through out all of my chemo treatment. The doctor and nurses are wonderful and I would recommend this center to anyone needed treatment.
Such fast and efficient service for my treatment, I love only having to make one stop for all my oncology and imaging needs! Incredible doctors, and office staff!
The doctors and staff here are amazing! You can tell that they truly care for their patients. They go above and beyond to make sure you receive the best quality care.
The staff at the clinic are very caring! My Dr. has answered every question from the beginning and I would not want anyone else handling my treatment and care.
This practice is amazing. Everyone is always smiling and makes you feel at home. We needed help getting mom out of the car and the administrator himself came out and helped us so the nurses and other staff could stay focused on rooming the patients. Dr. Cattoni is extremely smart and it is because of him that I am alive today.
If I could give 0 stars I would. WORST care ever. No compassion, no information given, lies told. Charges that are not justified. I've heard from others with the same experience. Whatever you do if you need an oncologist do not go here!
Waited on hold for 40 min finally hung up, to discover they left for the day leaving me on hold. Also wait time for physician was ridiculous, he said he thought he was done for the day, the ma never told him patients were waiting. Dr ordered testing but the orders were never sent to lab and its now a week later. Can't wait for renown to get a Dr
I love this place! During Covid I had my first visit. I was greated and tempature taken, Covid questions asked and escorted to the reception desk. Being a new pateint I arrived early to complete the dreaded paperwork... But is was effortless, I did it on a tablet they provided! Very streamlined process. The Medical assistant was compassionate and professional. I saw Dr. Ambika he was also very caring, like I was his first patient. He asked if I had any questions, I had a few. He gave me his full attention and plenty of time. His team continues to follow up with me regularly.
An impressive office with wonderful providers and staff who clearly show their passion for this field.
I saw Dr. Gerald today and I really like her. I have a cancer called large granular T-cell lymphocyte Leukemia. Dr gerald explained some about T Cells to me. She is very knowledgable and took time to answer all my questions. I also have Rheumatoid arthritis and she is very knowledgeable about that too. I am thankful to have such a good oncologist.
Cancer Care Specialists has some of the most caring and compassionate staff I have ever encountered in the medical world. They truly provide patient centered care. Having cancer is such a stressful and life altering event. You are at the mercy of those treating you and knowing that you have a wonderful care team behind you makes it easier to handle. The physicians are extremely knowledgeable and utilize many resources including the expertise from outside specialists such as physicians from academic centers to give you the best possible treatment. The nurses are always friendly and greet you with a smile. They make you feel comfortable from the time you sit down in that infusion chair to the time you leave. You get to know your nurses so well that they soon feel like a part of your family. I highly recommend Cancer Care Specialists for all your Hematology and Oncology needs.
Don't go here. Go somewhere else. I feel like Dr Cattoni is trying to get me back to my primary care as fast as possible. He's not engaged in my treatment and he talks so fast I can't understand whats going on, he makes my head spin. He said that a PET could be warranted but that Insurance would probably deny so he wasn't going to request it. At this point I feel it's not up to him, if he feels something is necessary he should request it and give insurance an opportunity to deny treatment. I went to the ER and tried to send the center an email and no one got back to me. No one from their office called about another procedure that he requested and was denied by insurance. This office is running on autopilot and if your blood work doesn't indicate an immediate action they don't know what to do. Avoid Cancer Care Specialists.
Amazing doctors and staff!! Would recommend any of the doctors to my closest family members and friends.
I was on my death bed under the care of Dr. Aaron Bowman in 2015. After getting an MRI that he had insisted would be too soon as the 'poison' (my term, not his) had not had enough time to act, but ok'd it anyway based on my insistence, it was discovered that the terminal brain tumor had disappeared. Renown employees KNEW it was a miracle (at least two of them) and yet, in my zombie like state, having no one with me that particular day, he kept me on the chemo schedule. That was the last time I saw him, and it will be the last time on this earth. By the way, I paid over $800.00 for ONE PILL one time. This was in addition to the chemo that we can swear did NOT remove the tumor. I just contacted Wes, the manager, to tell him I have no problem Forrest Craig Conrath as he was a BLAST! My problem is only with Dr. Aaron Bowman so I want to make sure the public knows that. Wes doesn't care about me. Just FYI.
Awful care and I m an RN with invasive breast cancer. The chemo nurses are great but rest of the staff blows. They had 2 weeks to forward my medical records and never did. They had a release. They neglected to draw a CMP on me for a month! I get weekly chemo. Avoid these jerks.
Cancer Care Specialists provides wonderful care to all of their patients. They are both caring and compassionate. The nursing staff are so knowledgeable, helpful and professional. I would recommend using this office for all your oncology needs.
I do not recommend Dr. Gerald. For many years I saw Dr Conrath, he and his staff were amazing. But he retired so I was assigned to Dr Gerald. It is sad to see the business going downhill. My first visit she said, So why are you here? She does not say much, is not helpful, offers no advice. She has done nothing for me. My second visit with her was rescheduled twice. The first time because she had rounds at the hospital, isn t that something that she should know ahead of time? And the second reschedule I didn t know about until the day of my appointment. It was changed to four hours later. People have lives, have to schedule time off and rides if they can t drive. The staff do not seem to care about you. One medical assistant was trying to get blood out of my finger and squeezed so hard it bruised. I have never had that happen before, usually they take a few drops.
All of the others doctors I have right now are great. I am switching to a different oncologists, hopefully I can find someone who gives a darn, will read my chart, will advise a plan, and will actually keep my scheduled appointments.
This is my second bout with cancer and my first time with the office staff at Cancer Care Specialists. Just awful! I am passed from person to person without the last person I spoke with knowing anything about my care. Dr. Bowman would do better to fire the office staff and start over with caring people who can communicate with one another.
I'm pleased that the facility is one level & is handicapped accessible. The place is modern & clean. I appreciate the snacks & drinks during treatment. They also have very personable staff.
10 out of 10, would highly recommend.
Cancer Care has an amazingly caring and professional staff, doctors and employees alike. 5 star service. Also, I love the beautiful new office!
I saw Dr. Bowman at the hospital & then followed up with him at his office. He is very knowledgeable & takes the time to listen to my concerns. I appreciate his putting medical analogies into lame-mans terms so I can understand what he is saying & how to move forward. The check-in/wait times are long, but that's understandable with COVID. Thank you CCS staff.
Cancer Care Specialists, team is amazing. Extremely compassionate and caring towards patients. The quality of care is excellent , amazing doctors and staff.
This is the best place for care!! Great Doctors and staff!! A very friendly environment with people who actually care and have love for their patients!
I have been a patient here for 18 months I transferred my care here due to a move out of California. This place is amazing from the Covid-19 precautions to check out! I feel personally cared for. I had my recent PET scan at their own imaging center across the parking lot @ Personalized Imaging Consultants. I am a cash paying patient and this PET was quite a bit less than anywhere in Reno!
Cancer Care Specialists is a wonderful place for all of your oncology needs. The nurses and doctors are so compassionate and knowledgeable, and they really go above and beyond to ensure a safe and comfortable environment. There is no better place for cancer care!
We waited in the exam room for 40 minutes, staff was running behind. No one even checked on us to give us an update or at least make us feel like we weren't forgotten about. I think they should give the patient the option to reschedule at that point, we had other appointments to go to..... Sigh.....
Great healthcare group that provides excellent patient centered care. Would recommend to anyone seeking care from knowledgeable and passionate oncology group!
Went to this office for the first time yesterday and saw Dr Ambika. He was wonderful! He was kind, thoughtful, and he listened to and answered all my questions. And believe me when I say, I had MANY questions! I never felt like he was rushing me out, and he seemed to really care about me and my health! Thank you Dr. Ambika!!
10/17 Still love the doc, but the office staff leaves a lot to be desired! About a month ago I had to call TWICE to get a prescription. And today I wasted 50 min. (Includes drive time, wait in line time, and wait for them to see if they could find it time) trying to get the blood test they called and said the doc wanted. During the call I told them where I go and they said they would send in the order. NOPE. Wasn't there. :-( I feel like Cancer patients don't have a lot of time to waste...Guess I'll call AGAIN in order to help them do their jobs! From now on-Getting names. And I WILL include names in my review.
