The size of the room was huge. Beds were comfy. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the open bar they had the night before was great. Our arrival platter of cheese and fruit was on point.

As a Diamond Elite Hilton club member I have a pretty solid understanding of a quality experience. This is probably only the 2nd time I have written a negative review on a Hilton. First with a sold out hotel they only had two people at the front checking people in during the prime time 4pm time period. The hotel said it had digital keys but it did not work on the Hilton app so I had to wait. The manager even walked out twice looked at everyone and went back into the office, did not even offer to help the 15 person deep check-in. After a 20 min wait to check in, we finally got our room but the key card machine was broken so they had to leave and go into the back office for each customer which took 2-4 minutes. Finally we got the keys. I then went to the bell guy to ask if we could get a luggage cart and he said sorry we don't have any, again not what I expected to see at a embassy suites. I managed to throw the stroller on my back on top of my backpack, wheel three suitcases for my wife and kids as she carries our youngest who is asleep to the room. Once we get in the room We realized they gave us a room with two full beds instead of a king I expected. Since we have to put my son down to sleep we had no choice but to take the room. Not the start to the vacation I was looking for.

I had my reservation for 2 double bed and they ran out of room and gave my handicap king size room for the night. The next morning they moved us to 2 double bed room which had a broken AC. Then they moved me to the 2 double bed city view.
The front desk had long lines and only 2 people working.
Paid $200 + per night plus $50 valet.
Not worth it!

This hotel gave me lots of frustrations.
-We reserved 11th floor with two double beds but at check in, we were told the room was taken and they gave us one king bed instead. We complained but was told there is no more double bed room available. Few minutes later we spoke to a manager, and he finally gave us a second floor two double bed room. No apologies from anyone including this very rude manager.
-There was 20 minutes waiting line to get breakfast. Too many people!
-One of the reason we chose this hotel was for the indoor swimming pool, but it was closed for maintenance.
-I had to call 4 times to get extra blanket.
- the laundry machine was broken and there was no sign. I put laundry, detergent and money and it was not working.

Hotel is in great location to the Gaslamp district, the convention center, and tourist attractions. However, hotel is showing age and is somewhat noisy. Otherwise, to Embassy Suite perks of large size rooms and made to order breakfast. Valet parking is only parking available and is very steep at $50/day. Self park across the street at the Hyatt for only $40/day.

Well, where do I begin? My schedule stay here is Friday to Monday. Today is Sunday. First of all, the building is having a make over.....LOTS of construction going on. ( and DUST). So if you have allegories, I would steer clear. Saturday there was only ONE Elevator working. it was a mad house, there was at least a half block long line of people waiting to get on the elevator. At one point of time there was two working, but it stopped working when I was on it. :-( going back to my room from breakfast. The stairs were FULL because people were watching for the elevators so long. Saturday & Sunday, when I went to get ice, there was NONE on 2 floors below me, or on the floor I was on. So the front desk sent me to the hotel bar to get ICE on SATURDAY, SUNDAY, I asked could they bring me some to my room. And I got it..........After waiting 8 minutes, being left on HOLD by the person on the front desk to come back to the phone :-(
Oh well I guess it could have been worse! Glad there wasn't a fire!

Spacious suite with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa - very comfortable for a larger family like ours. The inner atrium/courtyard/great hall (not sure how to do justice to the interior space of the hotel) is amazing. The glass elevators provide a great view of that space and were a hit with the kids. So was the breakfast (included) - full buffet. We'll definitely be going back as soon as we can.

The staff was amazing! Extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in the perfect area. Great restaurants and attractions very close by. Place was very clean. Will stay here the next time I'm in San Diego. Loved it!

It's a typical Embassy Suites. However, many tourist groups which make the place very crowded. Location is fantastic and near the harbor. A boutique plaza across the street that have some good dining choices. Breakfast is not as good and very crowded. Parking is $50 per night which is a little bit pricy. Valet parking only makes it a little inconvenient to use the car. Gym is kinda small but has dumbbells.

Included breakfast; snacks and open bar in the evenings are big pluses. Consistent staff confusion about who is in which room, and which rooms are occupied, is a minus. Staff are very friendly.

Awesome location! Close to the water and it is walking distance to the USS Midway and gas lamp district. Plus is right across the street from a shopping and restaurant district which has great shops and places for lunch and dinner. Breakfest is part of your stay and has an omelet bar. The hotel is a little older than some of your other choices downtown but honestly the location more than makes up for it. The only down side is the $50.00 a night valet fee, but those guys are fast and you can text them and they will have your car to you by the time you get down from your room. I never waited once for it. Overall great experience!

Still waiting for room. Checked in at 3pm. Sorry can't get your room until 4pm. 4:30 now room still not ready.
Never had a problem with Hilton like this. Check in girl is more interested in checking everyone else in.

The hotel is located in a very desirable area, and provides free breakfast and an evening snack reception. Unfortunately the hotel utilities need some work, during my stay the air conditioning was down 2 days, there was no adjustment made to the bill for enduring the discomfort.

Location is great, close to the harbor with the USS Midway museum and Seaport Village within sight. The bay view is worthy the extra money if they're available.

The breakfast isn't as good as most other Embassy Suites I've been to. The breakfast area is cramped and extremely busy, and the to-order cooks seem sullen and watching the way they made my omelette turned me off my meal. That, and the omelette looked like it has been run over by the parking valets.

The pool was filled with screaming children until late and there is no adult swim time.

The location and the view are definitely great, though.

This hotel is great. Immaculate rooms with wonderful views. I was lucky enough to be on the top floor with a balcony, and spent a lot of time just daydreaming while looking out over the water. The staff were all very polite and kind, and even granted me a late checkout with no fuss whatsoever. Highly recommended!!!

We enjoyed this location. There is a lot to do very close. Walking distance to everything downtown. We always enjoy the breakfast and happy hour. The food at the hotel was just ok. Bloody Mary at happy hour was great!

Short comments then more detailed:

Short comments then more detailed:
1. Not very clean( lot of dust, white material on chairs and photos)
2. Sofa bed is not comfy at all. We stayed at other embassy suits and they are much better usually
3. Noisy, from INSIDE: ( all rooms their doors at the lobby so you keep hearing laughs, tables moving and..), from OUTSIDE: construction going on next block, very noisy all day except night ( has been going on for months and i estimate for few more months it will be happening). ROOF:We were at 12th floor and we keep hearing construction in the hotel itself and no one told us ( people walking above us) and i kept seeing employees getting into the hotel to the 12 th floor, they start at 7 am and wont get done until 5-6 pm, come on: you should have told us before we reserve! Not fair
4. Costumer service average, some employees are really angry and they hate kids( i heard many comments about my child ( she was just taking some add ( things to do in san diego adds) and she told me to put them back as they run short on these adds!!!
5. Not experienced employees as they dont know what to do when it rains in san diego, really!!!
6. Valet was good, but very expensive
7. Shower not working well, water all over the place, and kept changing in temp
8. Smart key not working most of the time ( from the app)
9. Heater is not working well and noisy.

Not recommended at all

Location very awesome down by the ships and lots of things to do all around. Rooms beautiful clean great for large family, hospitality best I've ever had treated like king breakfast very good wish I could live here.

Went for an event with some friends. My friends had checked in and the hotel somehow could not find my name or reservation. They gave my friend the key to someone else's room that had guests already occupid in it. Also the valet driver crashed my friends car into the wall. Worst visit ever!!!! Never going back!!!

Unfortunately, the hotel did not take care of our family during a recent stay. As a long time Hilton Honors member and frequent traveler, I know that somethings are no one's fault. However, how it is handled by the staff is controllable. The showers weren't functioning and there was nothing to be done. Not exactly the visit we had hoped for our family during their stay. The staff made no attempt during the stay to make it right. Only during check out did they commit to a full refund to be processed by the Front Office Manager. It took six weeks, multiple emails, calls, one face to face visit, and an official complaint to the Diamond Member Care Line to get resolution. I even requested a face to face meeting with the General Manager without a response. We will continue to use Hilton, but I will not stay or recommend anyone to stay at this facility. The only way we got resolution was through corporate Hilton. There plenty of other beautiful Hilton properties in San Diego to stay.

Okay for the price - but not what it used be. Happy Hour Reception has definitely declined: smaller drinks, nearly no alcohol in the pours, and less selection. Renovation removed the koi pond/stream, so it doesn't look as nice, but it doesn't look awful either. The first night, fire alarms/evacuation notifications rang until 1AM because a linens dryer caught fire - heavy smoke, visible and very noxious. The fire department came. It was a two hour ordeal. The next morning we politely explained to the desk that we weren't afforded a restful evening unfortunately, due to the fire activities, and inquired about what the rate would be for a second night try - She did not seem empathetic and replied with their standard rate... Even more than we/anyone would pay through Hotwire/Expedia etc... So poor taste in mouth with regards to their customer service. Two stars at very best.

Another great Embassy Suites. Awesome location. Walking distance from a host of places to eat and see. Restaurant on location with a Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors ice cream and a Donkin Donuts to boot.

I enjoyed staying here. Room was clean and front desk staff was very helpful. I was a bit disappointed with Happy Hour- glass had dried substance on it...but I would give this place another chance!

I have stayed here several times over the past several years. It's a great location, very convenient to tourist spots like the Midway, Seaport Village, Gaslamp, and the Convention Center, and within easy driving distance of all Balboa Park has to offer. Valet-only parking is something of an inconvenience, especially when they charge over $50 per night, but the valets have always been prompt about getting my car for me.

The rooms are spacious, and some have great views of the bay, Coronado, and the bridge. The premium suites are a great benefit if you can get them. The free cook-to-order breakfast and cocktail hours are also fantastic additions and I always try to take advantage of them.

I would hesitate to consider this hotel for personal travel, especially if I was trying to stick to a budget, but it's overall a great spot if you don't mind the cost of parking.

Nice rooms and friendly staff but the place is not run in a way to accommodate the number of people who stayed there. Breakfast line was 20 min. It took 30 min to get the car from valet. Elevator line was a headache.

Location is king. If location is what you are going for, great place. Staff is great.

The hotel, the cost, the rooms, etc nah. This is a hotel where the rooms face in so if everyone exits the rooms they all face each other. Like a prom hotel.

The rooms are older with a fresh bit of decorating, but nothing is comfortable.

The beds are really bad, my AC didn't work and they are dealing with a transition on the TV so there is no guide and these are not smart tvs.

The parking... It's downtown so it's valet only at 55 a night.

I could go on and on but ultimately, if you want location, this is one of the many really good options. If you want comfort and modern updates, don't pick this one.

Good. Beautiful hotel except they have away our hotel room for the first two nights and sent us to another hotel. They have us some money back, but we would have much rather stayed where we booked.
