Duluth Pack Store Review

A store that is a must to go in when you are down in Canal. It is a little pricey, but it's priced right for the top-notch quality you are getting. They have tons of knowledge on their products and the area. The atmospherics of the store make it very enjoyable to walk through.

Always love this store! Such nice and helpful staff, great quality in everything there!

Full of tourists, and everything is overpriced. They don't have many packs in store and sell mostly other companies products.

Was going to shop here until hearing about their PR stunt this summer. Protect the BWCA and will take my money elsewhere.

Love this store, but seriously guys you NEED to come down on your prices!!! People are living in hard times right now and your company has a ton of money. Outdoors people want good products like yours but in this day and age you NEED to understand that people want to have fun outdoors (after being stuck inside for so long) but can't afford to pay a fortune after losing their jobs or getting laid off!!! Give the working class a break!!!! PLEASE

Try on some higher quality clothing items instead of buying them online. Stop in next time you are in Duluth to find some clothing that is made for Minnesota weather.

Excellent back packs. Well worth the money. I have 3. Do not regret buying any thing from here.

I needed just the smallest item and the employees were prompt to find it for me immediately. And their Packs are the best for canoe trips.

I'll preface this mediocre review by saying I've been a Duluth Pack devotee for a long time. Multiple packs and other pieces. On April 15th I ordered a hat and paid almost $13 in shipping which seemed like a lot for a lightweight hat. To compare, I paid $14 for the standard shipping of a Frost River pack in March...more on Frost River later.

As of this morning, April 20th, it still hadn't even shipped yet. So I called the store. I will say that I completely understand local businesses are being hurt by the quarantine...but one would think they would be trying extra hard to get merchandise out the door to their loyal customers.

Back to my call to the store. I simply asked when my order was going to be shipped and was met with a fairly rude response of "we are shut down and only go to the warehouse 2-3 times per week to fulfill orders". I have a hard time believing they would keep a hat in the warehouse but that might be over assumptive. So I nicely thanked her and hung up.

4 minutes later I received an email saying my order was shipped. What happened to a little bit of humility instead of the defensive attitude? I received my Frost River pack a day and a half after ordering it online. An actual pack...not a hat that has been sitting around on the shelf.

This might be the last time I order from Duluth Pack.

Awesome place, one you really need to stop in and see if your in town.

Nice stuff but way over priced. Stay with LL Bean or Ovris, rather then this downtown tourist trap. Sorry.

Duluth Pack makes some of the best handmade items I've ever seen. Nearly everything is made with some combination of leather and canvas, and it's incredibly high quality. Most of the stuff, such as the bags, are pretty expensive, but the quality justifies the prices. They also make great wallets! Besides the handmade Duluth Pack items, they sell loads of other gear as well. The store fits in with the general aesthetic of the typical northern Minnesota cabin. It's a great place to stop while shopping around in Canal Park.

I was excited to shop here until I researched they hosted the Trumps, a family trying to destroy our national parks not restore them. Think before you Trump!

Over-priced gear for yuppies. The only thing made in America is some of the bags. The bags are made in a very rundown building, the heat is minimal and the a/c is even worse. The senior sewers get laid off once they make too much money per hour. Then they hire untrained new sewers at a lower rate to make more money sacrificing quality. Visit the factory for a free tour and see for yourself how bad that building really is, for a billion dollar company you would think they would at least have an employee break room.....

Good quality US made gear at mid to high prices. If you want to gift someone something special, this is the right stuff. The staff range from friendly to annoyed...

I was on the fence about buying a bison duffel bag so i finally drove up to Duluth to check it out. It's a very nice looking bag that I'm sure would last a long time, unfortunately I couldn't justify the price for the functionality of the bag. Otherwise the Duluth pack store is plum full of quality outdoor gear. Be ready to spend some money though. Totally worth checking out.

This is a great store to browse around and they have a very helpful staff. It is a very unique store and experience that you can only find in Duluth. The products are all high quality and long lasting.

This store is outstanding. The customer service is wonderful. I am a regular customer for a couple specific items but I often bring my dog in. She is greeted with pets and treats from the staff every time. That is what brings me back to Duluth Pack over any other store. #dogfriendly #dogmom

Love Duluth Pack! Always end up spending more than I meant to though. They are pricey but have most everything you may have forgotten on your way to the BWCAW.

One of my favorite camping bags is from this store and I ve had it over 20 years! The store offers such a wide variety of products for men/women. Look forward to buying more stuff soon!

Bought a pair of shoes today. Not happy. One of the shoes was clearly a display one shoe clean one tried on multiple times ditry.

Employees were more than helpful! Very friendly and knowledge people who fielded every question I threw at them with style and ease, sometimes grace was needed and they were0 all of that and then some. While the prices are not for the faint of heart, they're fair and reasonable considering the excellent quality of the merchandise, the construction of said and most of what I looked at and bought was Made In USA ! What they carry is the stuff legends are made of.

Pack sucks compared to a $12 :rothco" or "fox tactical" canvas bag.
And the wax canvas is slimy and gross. Dirt sticks to it like glue

I always wanted a DP until they got political. An outdoor company that supports the destruction of our great state.Then they started deleting and closing reviews on social media. No thank you. Plenty of other places to spread the wealth.

I love to come to this store to browse. I have also used their packs while a guide at camp. We have put those things through the wringer for decades and they hold up really well. If they do break we can bring them back for repairs and they will repair them. Highly recommend investing the money into one of their bags that will last a lifetime.

Totally impressed with the Duluth Pack service group!
When my daughter needed immediate repairs (on the canvas backpack she has used since 1999) before she left for Switzerland, they kindly took the bag in at their Duluth factory for special 1 hour turn-around. The life-time warranty coverage is amazing. Office manager Nancy Peaslee and repair wizard Tracie Salo could not have been nicer or more accommodating.
The backpack has been busy visiting many countries and is now good to go for many more.

My family has been using Duluth Pack gear for 3 generations and it is one of the few places left that we know we can still buy very functional items that will last a lifetime. In the "disposable age" this is a wonderful breath of fresh air and worth every penny!

The gear has always been top notch. My duluth pack has been through the ringer the last 25 years and still looks great. Wish I could afford some of the leather bags they have here. Which leads me to my one complaint it is very expensive for everything here.

Fantastic local resource for the outdoor community with a great mix of local products and other brands of a wide variety of outdoor gear.

It s a really excellent selection of apparel, accessories, and outdoor supplies. It s a store you could spend hours in checking out cool gadgets and gifts. I ended up buying a bunch of locally made candles and kept running into new products I wanted. Also, the apparel merchandising was really nice.

Wonderfully constructed products and great customer service. Well known company with a great reputation.

Like to stop here by the canal. I always come home with something!

Phenomenal customer service!
I was there yesterday on a small road trip and in the market to buy a hammock. I was greeted and was asking about the hammocks. The lady I asked was not familiar with hammocks, but was super nice and called a co worker who was familiar to help. He told me the pros and cons of each brand, which one he uses, and which one would fit me best. I had picked an Eno one and just needed the straps. He went to the back to see if there were any, but unfortunately were out of stock. He did however come back with another Eno hammock, but in a different fun bright color he thought I would like better! He went one step further and told me a competitor that would have them in stock and exactly how to get there. Could not have been more pleased and absolutely love the hammock! Thanks!!!

Great quality! It might cost a little extra but everything they sell outlasts and outperforms all of their competition.

High End Prices but VERY nice stuff. Like nice enough to justify the prices. More fashionable outdoor men's clothing than anywhere I have seen before. Tons of brands not found elsewhere. Bring buckets of money when you go but it will be worth the trip.

Date of Visit: 2/25/2019 - Ridiculously expensive. Our family understands that money can buy quality, but we cannot fathom spending $200+ on a duffle bag. The rest of the items in the store (Keens, Merrells, etc.) could easily be purchased at Famous Footwear, Dick's, Scheels for $10-$15 cheaper per pair (if not more). Won't be back.

Went in for a camping pack, they are spendy but it will last your lifetime.

Quality merchandise besides the Duluth Packs. Expect to pay for what you're getting.

This is a place with real outdoor stuff. A little on the pricey side but if you want to look the part it will cost you.

I loved this store, I bought two beautiful sweaters from Duluth, they have a great variety of items.

I was looking for a specific sweater in my size and a nice girl who works in the store got it for me, so the attention seems magnificent to me.

Of course, the store has very high prices, I liked the bags and wallets but $ 280 or $ 300 seems somewhat exaggerated for a local brand.

ok place.some hard to get items.employees arent real knowledgable.i asked 4 if they had leather waterproofing agent.they swore,no ,but i found it anyway.( im a psychic),,,,,,. .

Some cute things but everything is way over priced. No one said a word to us until we were leaving also..

Products are not as rugged as they look. I've had this Daypack now for five years its frayed significantly. One strap is almost half way worn down and there's a large hole developing in the canvas which is not covered by the warranty so don't be fooled.

This is a one-of-a-kind company, that still operates like an artisan operation generations after its inception. If you want a unique and quality bag of any kind, that will last you a lifetime, this is worth a look.

The staff is highly qualified with knowledge on each product in the store. Every question I had, they had an answer for. All the employees use the products in the store for their own everyday lives as well which is a great attribute because they are able to provide me with personal recommendations. If you're heading up the shore for a weekend in the woods, stop by Duluth Pack and you will be able to find everything you may need.

Had been a decade since I had been and the prices have tripled :(
Its a bummer when a brand that originally started small seems like they are pricing their products for the upper class :(

The store has great quality winter accessories with plenty to choose from. Its kind of pricey though. I bought a winter hat and it was almost $40. Thats kinda steep, but it was very warm and good quality. Staff was very nice as well.

Most uncomfortable packs ever made. The way the straps lash to the bottom of the bag makes no sense. I ve owned 4 Duluth packs, most recent is the wanderer. Never want to look at one again. There s always some flaw with them. The construction is that of someone that just learned how to sew.

Many bunched up areas of stitching and folds in the seams that aren t supposed to be there. Get your construction methodology down or quit. I m glad I don t live in Duluth and have this company represent my city. Stay away.
