Wonderful Church! - Pastor was inspiring, and the atmosphere was so inviting and warming.
This church offers a balanced Christian viewpoint within a divers setting of people of all ages, ethnics and social standing. The support groups rock, the music uplifts the soul and the support ministry team are there for you.
This is s great non denominational Jesus loving church! Good community and music.
This church is alive (: I felt the Holy Spirit! A younger hip crowd that delivers a very tangible message of God being life! God being loving! I am recommending this church to everyone I know in the PDX area! Especially to those I know who are reluctant or had God scared out of them from childhood or judgement from other church experiences... This is not your grandparents church! It's ok to have fun at church... to laugh, God does have a sense of humor! The music was fantastic (:
Great Christ centered church. Large attendance by singles and young families.
I went with my 4 year old and was very welcome. They have a part of the balcony for family's. She made a friend in the row I front of us.
It feels really weird to write a review for my church but I really want my Google Maps app to stop bugging me to leave a review so I m going to do it...
I love the folks I ve met at this church and I have felt more accepted and welcomed here than probably any church I ve ever been a part of. A lot of people went out of their way to bring me into this community.
I especially appreciate the way the staff here are willing to talk about subjects that many similar churches are completely silent on. This is a good place for people on all ends of the political spectrum and a good place for people on all ends of the denominational spectrum.
I've been going to this church for about 5 years.
Think of a church that truly represents the Portland culture, this is it.
Really nice place for church. I love the sermons and each week the music is great.
The doctrine and theology are not sound. Not a christian pastor or church. The Sermons are not from the Bible. The congregation on the other hand are some of the kindest and best people. If you want great Christian friends this is the place to meet them in Portland. They are being led badly and lied to by a man who does not believe in God.His team are greedy ,poor hating, and pay them selves extremely well out of the collection that they say is for the community.
Went to the candlelight service at 3pm on Christmas Eve. Sign language Interpreters are provided here & They are fantastic (I'm also an interpreter this is why I can attest to this). The service was wonderful- I am not a member of this church but felt included & accepted. The sermon was wonderful & the pastor even wrote a story based on a painting that was very well written. I will definitely be attending again at some point in the future.
This is the best church I have ever been to. The pastors are very knowledgeable and they keep you wanting to know more and leaving with a message that you can take out and use in the world. Everyone is welcome there is no dress code.
All ages welcome to this church, activities in m a ny areas of the community.
It's the place to go if you want to feel welcome. Amazing band, coffee tea and snacks, great message and beautiful structure overall
My favorite church in Oregon..Pastor Rick is the best..
I love this church. Is it perfect? Of course not, neither are any of us. But is it real, honest, seeking, loving, sharing and filled with a joyful love and heart felt reverence for God? Absolutely. The sermons teach me about the bible and God and His awesomeness with intelligence, knowledge, humor, honesty and compassion. They are also engaging, interesting and relevant; a good test for me about a sermon is if I can remember its key points when I leave church, or does it just fade away as irrelevant. Imago Dei's sermon stay with me and make me think. The church is also very active in community, helping others and lifting them up. Most all of this congregation is very young, twenty - thirtyish, lots of children, I'm one of the older ones at 67. I've been going to church most of my life, and seen quite a few, this one helps me rejoice and yield and trust and grow in the Lord and his loving ways.
I'm sorry the woman who went two years ago was disappointed that the "bible wasn't open even once". I've never seen that happen, but I know a sermon about God's truth and love can be given with out an open bible, in fact a sermon about God's truth and love can be given without a word spoken. I hope she give it another chance.
We decided to look into Imago Dei Community when we were searching for a church with an active youth group. The youth group has proven to be a place that my kids have experienced loving leaders that lead them in truth.
I really enjoy the Sunday gathering. The music is fun and often brings me to a place of praise. Often times it is hard to sing along because the performers sing songs their own way. Some don't like that, but I enjoy listening to great live music, and I appreciate their expression of praise.
The teaching is almost always excellent. The speakers season timeless truth with pragmatic works.
We searched for a while for a home community to become a part of. The one we found is in our neighborhood, and has a great mix of people. It is at this home community that I experience real relational community.
One of the things that I love most about this community is that I experience God's grace and His amazing love for us there through His people.
The most challenging thing for me is that the church is progressive in its political views. I am politically libertarian and I am uncomfortable with some of the of the things that are said from the stage regarding politics. They seem to have bought in to the liberal narrative. I think that a more conservative person would not feel at home here. I wish the church would steer clear of politics and instead always keep the focus on Kingdom living.
It's a community church where everyone is welcome. Greet each other, singing to the lyrics of the music. It has a play room for kids.
Went to an AA speakers meeting and had a great time. Thanks for reaching out to the community and opening your doors like you so often do.
I love this church! Welcoming community, fun and unique worship with talented and creative musicians and most importantly bible based teachings from extremely well intended and thoughtful pastors. A home church of mine for a couple years and one I always look forward to visiting when I can make it into Portland.
Best sermon I've heard since I lived in Denver. Absolutely spot on - talked about the love and the law in the old covenant and the new covenant. It was the best sermon on faith/works I've ever heard. We'll be going back for sure. Truth is in this place.
This place takes up all parking available for local resident. They staff also puts a sandwich board sign in the middle of the road. This road is a bike safe road and has heavy traffic, I have on multiple occasions seen cars and bikes nearly collide when avoiding this sign (sign is regarding the parking shuttle, figures since they take up all the parking). There have been several occasions I have heard disputes between patrons of the church and residents. One incident was regarding parking etiquette, an older lady politely asked someone to pull forward or back so she could park. He scowld and said he was "saving the spot." She had a car full of groceries and a child. I can only imagine how far she had to park and lug her family / groceries (had to have been at least 3 trips). Also, patrons always gathering on the corner smoking up a storm... This corner is definitely within 10 feet of one of the entrance (where I see a LOT of children go in and out of). This has been an issue for at least 2 years. Covid has shined light on this issuse. Since the church has been closed for Covid-19 people are parking with joy! It truly showed how inconvenient this place is for its community.
This church has been a part of my life for more that 9 years. It is big but not big enough to get lost.
Super down to earth church. Most people seem genuinely friendly
- Thought provoking sermons (scratches the philosophical itch)
- Plenty of options to volunteer (scratches the "deeds" itch)
- GREAT community with plenty of places to get connected (scratches the "social" itch)
- Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I'm not a fan of their worship 90% of the time. I appreciate that everyone has different tastes, so you may love it, but if my wife would let me I'd come late to avoid it altogether. They write and perform their own music which is awesome and most of the songs are great, but I wish they'd mix it up a bit more with more variety as most of the time it's either that or new takes on old songs (such as hymns) which don't need to be rewritten/edited as they have been proven through time to be great already. They have several bands that are in and out with different styles, which is cool--gospel choir one is the best. Most of the time I have to go elsewhere to get my "musical" itch scratched though.
Overall a great place to call home :)
The single most important part of church is the sermon, which needs to be scripturally based to give accuracy and credibility. The Bible wasn't opened once when I visited. That alone is reason to never return, but add in the fact that the worship band only plays their own strange music instead of popular hymns or modern Christian songs and it seems like more of a weird feel good club that meets on Sundays instead of a place to learn about Jesus and grow in The Faith. Beautiful building and nice people but do yourself a favor and choose to spend your time more wisely at a different church that is built on the solid foundation of God's Word.
What do you say about a place of worship. Worship music is loud. Sermon was solid.
