I had my Chevy Colorado detailed on Wed and the person who did it jammed the front passenger seat all the way forward. I went to Dukes to find out what it would take and how much it would cost to fix it. Tiffany went out to look at it and she said let me get the shop foreman to check it out. Bill Lessen checked it out, told me what was wrong and how much it would cost to fix it. He then told Tiffany to do up the paperwork and he would work it in. 1 hr later I left a very happy customer. :) I've been dealing with Duke for 8 yrs and have always left a happy customer. Thank You Duke.

Duke s service was great as always. They are attentive, professional and always polite and courteous. I gave them four stars because I have a 2016 Impala and my check engine light came on. I called Dukes as soon as I got home. I was told to call them back if the light came on again. Needless to say, I scheduled an appointment to have the car checked out that day. I don t expect to be experiencing check engine problem 18 months into ownership with 11,500 miles. Due to no fault of their own, they weren t able to locate the problem. I was told that the car did send the signal but it didn t provide enough data to determine why the light came on. Dukes service representative also told me that if it came on again to call as soon as it happened so that they could get the car in to be checked.
Stu Wiant made my experience great. I am over 50 years old and this was my first ever dealership new vehicle purchase. I drove a couple models and he was knowledgeable about each one; I found out later he had only been a car salesperson less than a year so this was very impressive. He did not push or try to sway me one direction or the other. After leaving to compare other car lots, I returned to DUKE AUTO for Stu Wiant to complete my purchase. I work nearby so plan to use them for my service as well and plan to keep you all updated with that experience so wish me luck. Sincerely, Happy Rocky Ridge Owner
New to the area, had an issue that I felt I needed a certified Buick mechanic to address. I explained in detail the problem. $280 later for an oil change to windshield wipers in a tire rotation I was told they were not able to find the problem. I was the last customer of the day they locked up behind me and it had the problem as I drove it off the parking lot.
This is our 3rd car bought since 1996 from Duke. My wife & I know the dealership can be trusted on personal vehicles, as well as corporate (they serviced my company car). I just retired & needed a good second car. My wife & I stopped in late on a Friday & met Stan Bell. I looked on their web site prior to arrival & knew which vehicle (2012) I wanted to see. Stan handed us the keys & we took it on a test ride. When we came back, we did not like the car, so Stan handed us the keys to a 2013 model, which was much better. We came back on Monday & tried a 2014 model (used), which we bought. No pressure at all. Stan Bell is very laid back, gave us car fax reports, answered all our questions. We left for an hour for lunch, came back & the car was ready to go, with all the paperwork complete. Stan made sure we had our Duke value card (free inspections, & extras). We have recommended this dealership before & would gladly use Stan Bell again in any future cars we purchase. This is definitely a family oriented business you can trust.
When I bought my car in 2013, part of the deal was 6 free oil changes. Apparently that has changed and you are not holding up your end of the deal. My car is paid for and has less than 50,000 miles on it. I have always driven Chevys and I always will. That said, our Dodge pickup needs replacing(that's over $60,000 we would bring to your dealership), however, if you are going to not honor deals you make with your customers, we will take our search for a truck elsewhere
I took my car back to the dealership after this to have it inspected. The service people took my keys, I waited in the well thought out, safe waiting area for less than an hour before I was on my way
As to the beginning of this critique, as soon as my concerns were discovered by the dealership, they were addressed completely to my satisfaction
This is a long over due praise to the very best sales man Mr Al Hicks who is PHENOMENAL at his job!!! He doesn't stop with just car sales, but he goes above and beyond his job with wishing my family and I happy birthdays, happy holidays, and any accomplishment that we might achieve. He started as my car salesman but has become a great friend of the family. I even reconmended him to my mother who has come looking for a car from out of town and raved about the professionalism of Mr. Al Hicks and staff. I was so blown away by his service with my purchase last year December 6 that I came back and made a second purchase January 29, 2013. This was my second car purchase on my own without any assistance and the information and service I recieved was as a father helping his daughter buy her first car each time. Thank you DUKE TEAM everyone I have ever come in contact with even down to the service desk are amazing!!! God bless you all as the #! Dealership in Hampton Roads in my book and I will be back!
Initial inspection of my Yukon XL indicated that the entire transfer casing assembly would need to be replaced, a very expensive repair. The automotive team took the extra effort to thoroughly clean and inspect the transfer casing assembly and determined that only the encoder actuator motor would need replacement, saving me over $1,000 on the repair. I've already scheduled my next maintenance at the dealership and plan to use them exclusively from this point forward. Hats off to Duke Automotive for their EXCELLENT service!!!
Duke collision did a wonderful job fixing the damage on my vehicle due to hitting a deer. Theres no way anyone could tell something had ever happened! Leah was great to work with starting from my estimate to pick up day! My sister has also used Duke before, twice! Would reccomend service here to anyone :)
We purchased a Cadillac XTS after a 3 month search that included test driving vehicles from 6+ different dealerships/manufacturers. We settled on the XTS and Duke Automotive because we didn't feel pressured. Heather answered all our questions and worked with us to get the exact features we wanted. Even though we have a Cadillac dealer much closer to us on the Peninsula, we settled on Duke because they provide better customer service (based on previous experiences with Suttle). So far every contact we made with Duke was a good one - this includes Christy, Heather, Bruce, Don and Eley. Even the final paperwork signing with Don was a satisfying experience - (based on the previous purchase of 3 new vehicles) we found that usually the finance person was the pushiest and somewhat rude, not true at Duke. This was definitely the best car buying experience we ever had hands down.
Great people to do business with and easy transaction. It's my second vehicle bought there, and I come from Maine just for them. It's well worth the trip. You won't be sorry dealing with them.
My daughter recently moved to VA from NY for an internship. On the trip there her check engine light came on and when she took the car to Duke we found that when the oil had been changed by the dealer in NY they had not re-installed the oil cap properly and there was oil all over the engine compartment. Ashley was great to deal with, got the car cleaned up, handled the negotiation with the other dealership on replacement of the hood liner and went above and beyond to make us happy. We would highly recommend her and Duke Chevrolet based on outstanding customer service.
Not happy. Again, vehicle wasn't ready as promised. I only go there now for recall issues because I have to. Great sales department, but hope you never need service done there.
I am waiting in the customer lounge as my car is being serviced. I called this morning and was able to get in at 2 pm. Jordan was very accommodating. Lounge is comfortable and offers free coffee, bottled water, doughnuts (if you get here early enough), and chips, etc. I had a Duke coupon which I was unable to print at home, and Ms. Carr had me forward it to her, so she could print it for me.
I have gone to Duke for my vehicle purchases, as they are straightforward about prices and trade-in values. While they may not always offer the most after-purchase amenities, they do treat their loyal customers well.
We have had our vehicles serviced at Dukes for several years. On April4, 2014, brought my 2004 Envoy in for State Inspection . The Staff was courteous, friendly, yet professional. They were also very accommodating , as I had a conflict in schedule and needed to come in later than my scheduled appointment . The Lounge area had been redecorated and update. Very nice. Computer station , New Coffee maker, water, sodas, chips and fresh donuts. The area was clean and inviting. Clean restroom ! Even the custodian was pleasant . Pleasantly surprised to meet The Owner Mrs. Duke. She was personable and wanted to make sure the customers were well satisfied. I was . Great deal on set of tires. They also honor Military, Senior citizens for discounts. I also like the way they keep a history on the vehicles and advise of recommended Maintenance and service . Thanks for the coupons in the mail ! Thank you for a pleasant experience. Mr. & Mrs. B.V. Johnson
I am one pleased customer with Duke Automotive, they go the extra step to see that I have everything in check, so glad I purchased my new car from them. What a team they have, thanks for all you do to keep me safe and on the road!
My husband and I started looking for a newer model Buick Enclave in early December to replace our 2009 model. We visited two local dealerships and both seemed to be pushing the sale of the 2012 inventory and suggested leasing as a possibility. Because none of the vehicles we previewed came close to the comforts to which we had become accustomed as far as the available premium features, we chose to hold on to our 2009 Buick Enclave. Now, we are very familiar with the adage save the best for last , but we never expected the service we received from the moment we arrived at Duke Automotive in Suffolk, VA! Upon our arrival we were greeted by a cheerful and welcoming Duke Automotive family and then introduced to our sales consultant, Jerry Butler. Jerry listened intently as we explained what we were looking for and then escorted us to a side carport area where he had an Enclave on display with a personalized welcome sign hanging from the rear view mirror --- what a pleasant and unexpected surprise! When we began discussing the possibility of a lease, Jerry immediately informed us that the available leasing option would be on 2013 Enclaves and there was one on the way. While we were in Jerry s office discussing the particulars, we had the pleasure of meeting Lydia Duke, Eley Duke III and Don Kelly who all humbly expressed their appreciation for our business. Our very first visit to Duke Automotive was unlike any other car-buying experience; it was like visiting family we had not seen in a while and catching up on all that we d missed. The day we picked up our new 2013 Buick Enclave the entire process was streamlined; Jerry methodically handled each step up until the moment we drove away. My husband and I are very happy that we saved the best for last and we are looking forward to a longstanding relationship with our new family at Duke Automotive in Suffolk, VA.
Mike V. and the entire staff are great. Friendly and helpful. We called looking for a specific vehicle which they had after another dealership promised us it was on the way and was still in Mexico, they jumped through hoops to get us in the vehicle in under 3 hrs. They took care of us from the moment we walked out of the vehicle we drove in. Recommend them to anyone and everyone!
The experience was great. Starting with the contact after I put the inquire in, when I arrived car was ready and parked by the door with a welcome sign in it. Cristy came out to introduce herself. Stan our sales man was friendly and welcoming. Bruce gave us a very good deal. All the staff was friendly and informative. Don found the lowest financing rate for us, it was lower than our credit union. I have already recommended Dukes to my coworkers.
Al Hicks definitely made our experience with Duke Automotive a memorable one! We will absolutely be recommending him & this dealership to our friend & family and we look forward to returning in the future. Al listened intently to our vehicle needs and wants without pressuring us in any way. He provided us with complete answers to our questions and did not hesitate to contribute additional relevant information. We are truly satisfied happy customers!
I had a great experience as for would I recommend Duke to friends and family I probably wouldn't because the dealership would not be convenient for them due to your location.
I like the dealership, took my wife's SUV in for inspection. It passed after I had to pay $31 for a bulb. I checked everything before I went up there and everything looked good. It sucks because we really don't have a choice to get it repaired because we had to have an appointment and didn't want to drive on a rejection sticker. I think the price is outrageous for a bulb that only cost $3. But lesson learned, stay there to verify the parts are bad.
The purchase of my new Chevy Impala makes my second business encounter with Duke Automotive. I came back specifically to this dealership because how well I was treated with my first purchase, which was my dream pick up truck. Stan Bell assisted me in both transactions and enough cannot be said about the level of professionalism, friendliness and dedication he possesses. He does his utmost in making sure that you are taken care of as a customer. I was able to state which features I was looking for in the vehicle I wanted, my preference to trade in my old vehicle and preference for finance options and he made sure things transitioned in a smooth and timely fashion. When my wife's older vehicle decides it has had enough, we will be returning to Duke once again and will recommend to anyone to do the same if looking to shop or purchase. Although I am a Tarheels fan, I can proudly say go to Duke (Automotive that is)!
This review is for the Parts Department, specifically Chuck.
24MAR2015. I came into Parts with my broken Chevy parts in search of replacements. Chuck barely acknowledged me with a "Gimme a minute" then went back to his paperwork and computer. I am standing directly in front of him. He fiddle faddles about for minutes. Then picks up the phone to make a call. I walk out. Got my parts at Napa.
Chuck, when a customer is standing directly in front of you that is ready, willing, and able to buy some parts...that's when you engage the customer.
Very poor service in the parts department. If this kind of service incompetence is the standard for this dealer, I will not be back for any department.
Jonathan was my salesman. Great guy! Down to earth and real. They want to make sure that you are happy with the vehicle before you purchase. Especially when that Duke logo is on the back the vehicle. 24 hours test drive before purchase was a plus to me. I purchased a used Suburban. Love it !!
Because we had not bought a vehicle in years and things had changed so much, we decided to try Duke Automotive to get answers to our questions. We looked around, asked questions and our questions were immediately and fully explained by Brian Goff, sales consultant. He was very courteous and forth coming with his answers. However, in our decision making process we took about a week to make up our minds, but knew we were going back to Duke; Brian Goff had laid the ground work for our return. We contacted Duke and was told Brian was away on an emergency; Bruce Blythe, new vehicle sales manager, immediately re-assigned us to Al Hicks, sales consultant which was a seamless process for us. In fact, he was politely waiting for us to arrive. Al continued the courteous process of answering more questions and demonstrating the vehicle we were interested in with no sales pressure at all, making the sale process easy and comfortable. When we got to Don Kelly to finalize the sale, he even made the process of signing the remaining paper work easy and "painless". When we returned to pickup the vehicle, Al introduced us to the service department persons we would be working with and who had prepped and serviced our vehicle having it ready for pickup at the appointed time. With employees like this representing Duke Automotive we will continue to deal and recommend them for purchasing, service, friendliness and knowledge.
Love this dealership. The people are honest and hard working and try to help in any way they can! This is my "lifetime dealership" for car and truck purchases! We bought our Cadillac here in 2013 and they have been totally responsible for its upkeep! Thank you, Duke sutomotive!
This was by far our best car buying experience. Mr Hicks did a outstanding job of finding the right car with all the features that we were looking for in the Buick LaCrosse. The warm and friendly atmosphere and attention to detail made this a great experience. We would definitely recommend Duke to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle. Thank you so much, job well done.
Good work but need to improve their accuracy on anticipated time waiting for brief service requests. There's no excuse for setting an appointment time to find out an hour later the work hasn't even begun when the service representative knows you are waiting for your vehicle. Recommendation: Respect the clients time as if it was your own. And keep up the otherwise good work.
Stan Bell made our car exchange easy and affordable. He helped us find a car that met our needs and budget with just one visit to the dealership. Thank you Mr. Bell for all your efforts to make this happen at a very busy time for us. We highly recommend the Duke dealership!
Excellent service. Friendly, courteous, and professional staff. Clean facility. Good selection of vehicles and they will help you find the right one. Ask for Mike.
I bought a brand new 2018 GMC Acadia from Duke Automotive. My salesman was Michael(Mike). I've been in the military 21 years and this is the first time I've honestly bought a vehicle with no hassle. Mike was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. He definitely made this a great buying experience and I will continue to recommend this dealership to ALL of my family, friends and military brothers. They are honest and upfront about each vehicle and worked very hard to get me the max amount possible on my trade-in. They have definitely won me over and i will forever be a customer. Go see Duke Automotive for vehicle purchases or quarterly maintenance. Go see Mike!!! He'll take care of you!
The staff at Duke were very courteous and very prompt. They explained everything that was done to my truck. The service was outstanding. Thank you. Robert Gray
Not only was my car buying experience excellent, but every repeat visit for service has been efficient and without concern. Highly recommend the dealership! Great people!
Stan was very professional, and friendly, just like when I bought my 2008 Silverado. He helped me understand all the modern technology, which is a lot for me any how. Respectfully Chuck
They are very pleasant people to deal with would buy another vehicle from them just bought a GMC Yukon Denali XL working on buying another car from him right now Jonathan tunnel is a very excellent salesman
My husband and I have bought several vehicles here. The sales staff are super friendly. My biggest compliment, however is the knowledgeable service department. The free Wi-Fi is a bonus. I have even needed a ride to and from my home which I received cheerfully.
I was looking for a dealership that was family oriented to replace my long time dealership that closed due to the owner retiring. I've had better experience with family run businesses than the big corporate dealers. I took my car to Duke and they welcomed me and treated me like family, like I had been a long time customer.
They notify me of service and maintenance schedules that are coming due and continuously send me discounts on service specials and equipment. I recently scheduled a state inspection/oil change and when I arrived they greeted me as I walked in and took my car right in for service.
While waiting they provided hot doughnuts and coffee and it seemed like before I could finish, my car was ready to go. I feared the bill because normally at previous inspections at other places they always find something wrong that caused me to have to pay more than listed.
However, I was surprised at the low price and friendly, courteous service I received. I am happy with the professional and quality service they provide and plan on making them my new replacement dealership. I definitely recommend this dealership to anyone looking for dependable service, reasonable prices and treated like family.
Not sure where to start on this one. I will say that Becky is the absolute best customer service rep at Duke, and is definitely a high point in the service department. I am convinced that if you had 5 Becky's I would be giving you my business today. That being said, I have made a decision not to have Duke service my vehicle after a diagnostic check that identified issues my car had, but never touched the major problems I took my car into service for. I'm not confident that anything was done to my car but a computer plug in and the removal of my tires. Kinda feel like I was ripped off $99 - yes, I got a diagnostic check. Yes, my car needs work. I have very little confidence in the results. The issues your diagnostic check identified, if fixed, would have put a vehicle in disrepair unsafely on the road. I chose to speak with Richard, the service department manager, to whom I indicated that I had issues with my quality of service. I stated the service tech didn't address the issues I had brought up to two different customer service reps, and instead of offering resolution when I told him why I had a poor expectations and was dissatisfied with service said I needed another appointment for a tech specializing in transmissions when the cascading impacts of other issues could have been trouble shot to determine a course of action. If my wife had taken this car into your service department and not had me to call the BS answers your techs and manager gave me, she would have paid about $1700 to drive a car that the transmission failed on transporting to another dealers service department this morning. Your business has some problems, and I highly recommend that customers be engaged and critical of any and all services provided by your dealership, providing scrutiny and double checking work. If you or your team would like to discuss this activity, I would be happy to. Understand though, you won't get my business, because Duke credibility here is shot. This sucks for me too, because I live right behind Duke, it is convenient to my home and I own GM products. Instead, I chose to give my business to Hall in Western branch 20 minutes away.
My credit could have been better they had a car they wanted to sell I needed a car to get to and from work I feel like it was a win win situation I didn t get the best price but over all it was a good experience and I can sleep with the deal we all agreed upon Thank you Duke Chevrolet Your parts driver Jeff you are my home town dealer from now on I will be counting on you to service my new/used Chevy Spark and future vehicles
Everyone at Duke Automotive is kind, and so helpful! They have a great selection of both new and used vehicles, with great prices! Trade in was very painless and easy! My family has been going to Duke for years and is the best choice in Hampton Roads.
Repair was not verified and upon pickup I had to let them know same problem was there. Mechanic was too busy to look at even though I left the car all day. Another part was ordered and I replaced the part myself
I have purchased my vehicles from Duke Olds since 1984. It is always a pleasure to return to Duke to have my truck serviced, by the time I finished talking to everyone I know my truck is usually finished. Great service great people great dealer.
I just purchased my third vehicle from Duke Chevrolet. As experienced in the past I was treated with great professionalism and care by Al Hicks and the entire Duke Family. This is what is different about these folks. They are not just a dealership. Once you use them you are family. I am excited to see how my new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Rocky Ridge Truck performs. Let me encourage you to go there as well! Thanks guys!
We ended up at Duke Automotive after leaving Perry Buick in hopes of finding a better buying experience and that is just what we did! I am so glad we made the choice to drive the 25 miles to Suffolk. We accidentally showed up after they had closed on a Saturday but Ricky Eure came out and helped us anyway. We found the Enclave we were looking for and worked with Steve Fowler to get the deal done. It was a painless process and we love the new car. We met Eley while we were there and felt like we were working with and talking to old friends. Great experience and I wouldn't suggest anyone go anywhere else when looking for a product they sell!
Sales associates were polite and friendly along with being able to provide information when questioned. Although they do have bias towards some vehicles, plus their end goal is to sell you a car even if it drops your score or what have you. However if you shop on their site first it is easy to find a car matching your needs and get good car care at their service shop
Billy and Eley went above and beyond to get us into our new Suburban. From the moment we called to inquire about it to the moment we were driving it home, their friendly customer service was first rate and made it all easy! They even sent us out to lunch with our four kids while they handled all the paperwork! All we had to do was show up and sign the papers! We will definitely recommend this dealership to our friends and family and look forward to working with them again in the future!
I had my vehicle in for some maintenance work that needed to be performed and as promised the work was completed successfully within the time frame they said. I am very pleased with my service at Duke Automotive.
My husband and I visited Duke Automotive in search of a larger vehicle. Jerry Butler is the man who sold many vehicles to my dad over the years, so we asked for him. We were pleased with his down-to-earth friendliness, courtesy, knowledge and professionalism. Having been in car sales myself, I was impressed that Jerry never attempted to hard-sell or talk us into something. He worked with us within the parameters of our needs, likes and budget. He kept us informed and answered all of our questions.
Don Kelly equaled the above accolades of Jerry Butler. He worked diligently to assure us the best financing options. Al Hicks stepped in for some final paperwork when Don was unavailable and he also was a pleasure to do business with.
Overall, EXCEPTIONAL, Duke Automotive!! We will go nowhere else and will highly recommend this dealership and Jerry Butler to anyone and everyone.
