Great location, decent room, but there seemed to be some glitches - some electrical outlets not working, toilet seemed to have very weird water pressure/refilling issues - good value tfor the price in Manhattan, though

room temperature is staying at 72. I prefer 68, and sleep better when cool. Hvac will not cool. Called front desk, did not get answer. I am paying over $300/ night to be uncomfortable.
The personnel I have dealt with and the other aspects of the hotel are ok.I'll put this on my list of hotels to avoid.

had two rooms booked and paid and the reservation control service was not satisfactory because there was only one room available for us not solved the next day but nothing else to arrive after a flight of 10 hours made us have a hard time otherwise all right

Great location, walking distance to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue, etc, with a subway stop adjacent to the hotel. Variety of restaurant choices on the block as well. Room was clean and staff very helpful in getting us a car service for our very early LGA flight. Great value for your money in this location.

This is the most uncomfortable hotel I've ever stayed. I had unpleasant experiences many times not only while I've stayed but also after I've checked out.

I had a reservation for 6 nights from 26th Sep thru 2nd Oct. I checked in 26th about 1:00 PM and asked to add my HHonors Points. A front desk clerk woman gave me room key soon but my room 532 was still cleaning.

On 28th In the afternoon, a hotel man came to my room and requested me to come to front desk with credit card. So I handed my credit card to front desk clerk, she said to me "Your check-out is completed".

I explained my stay was thru 2nd Oct and staff handed me new room key of the same room. From the next day my room key often became unable to use. I forced to go to front desk to activate room key for four times. So I asked for an explanation of this inconvenience but they said "I don't know why but now it's fine". There was no apology, no piece of honesty.

On 2nd Oct. When I was about to check-out, I realized the billed amount was only 4 nights on the receipt. I told the front desk woman that my stay was 6 nights and I added to be careful not to charge double. After all it took 10-20 minutes to check out and I paid $3835.32 by credit card.

A few days later, I checked my credit card statement. I was really shocked. Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Metropolitan New York City has asked me to pay total amount of $7031.42. In my understanding the room fee and tax was $639.22 per stay. No eating, no drinking during my stay. That is very clear double charge. On the other hand HHonors Points has not be added.

No coffee machine in room and no coffee in lobby. Also asked the concierge for some q tips. They didn't have any. I have been at Hampton inns with more amenities. Otherwise good hotel and good location.

Location is "ok". A bit far from the action, but close tho the Subway. Maintenance of the Rooms is appalling. Very tiny bathroom. My room had blocked shower drain, and toilet (which they apparently did fix) no kettle in the room, until we had to request one. Not with the price. I was lucky enough to spend a few days at a much cheaper boutique hotel near Grand Central Station. Much better option. Not likely to stay at Double Tree Hotels again.

Definitely not typical Double Tree quality. The room was beat up & outdated. There were long black hair in the tub, the sink & bathroom floor. Bed was lumpy & worn out. I've stayed at a few Double Tree locations & they are usually nice. This was very dissapointing. Also, it took me over an hour to check in. They couldn't find it in their "system" so I was told to just wait. Finally I had to call reservations myself on my cellphone to get it done. Then once it was ready, no one came over to get me, I waited an extra 15 mins and when I went over the girl says "oh, we found that a while ago." - I was 10 feet away sitting down. No apologies from the staff or manager. Nothing. Just a stale cookie. Which would be great, if I was 7. I'm a Hilton Honors member that travels a lot. The way this was handled was surprisingly bad for one of their locations.

Super satisfied! We went recently and we want to return. Very attentive, clean and a good location. Love cookies from the reception staff and who cleaned the rooms. Very qualified, thanks! God willing, we'll be back

Very nice location, updated rooms, friendly staff. Small bar area that serves food and drink but no room service which is odd for a Double Tree. Pillows are uncomfortable and the last room down the hall has poor water pressure.

We did not spend too much time in the hotel but our experience was ruined by one very rude concierge lady who instead of helping to showing me and my two kids where we could find the proper door leading from the staircase to the 2nd floor berated us and said that it was not rocket science and then proceeded to make fun of us in front of another colleague who happened to walk by at that very moment. She was extremely rude to us. The only good experience of this hotel was the proximity to the subway and the warm chocolate chip cookies.

We decided to stay at this property for our honeymoon because it is an excellent location... however, we were rather disappointed. Our room smelled like cigarette smoke, though we were on a non-smoking floor. The room was basic... most of the Doubltree Hotel's we have stayed at had coffee makers in the room, but this one did not. The wallpaper was in ill repair and the cleaning staff did not come by until after 4:30pm (we were back in the room by then). We ended up moving to the Roger Smith Hotel down the street which surpassed the Doubletree on many levels(including price and quality) while maintaining the excellent location.

They get 2 stars for customer service. For one they charge way to much for this place. Its really only worth 50$ a night based on the way it looks. It's not nice at all. The hallway has an odor. The furniture is dated and damaged. They had the nerve to charge a 150.00 deposit for damages. When The place looks like its already been vandalized.
They have water damage on the bottom of the door and the paint job on the wall look like they did it themselves with no tape. The tv is LED Not HD.

DO NOT EVER STAY HERE. I had a prepaid reservation. I showed up at 3:30 am, first the attendant disappears for 15 minutes. Then they tell me that despite having a reservation they didn't have a room for me. I've never had a worst experience.

The hotel is in a great location, it is clean, the rooms are not quite anything and there is no internet, wifi only in the lobby of the hotel, they require a deposit of $ 50 per day that will be returned if the room at the checkout is ok

Great location. The subway is right outside the door. The neighborhood had everything. Even a great live music joint called Bonifide just a few blocks away.

Our room was quiet and the beds were really, really comfortable. Only negative, they don't have coffee in the room. But there's a nice place next door to grab a cup of really good coffee and breakfast to go or stay that more than made up for it.

I've stayed in several hotels in NYC but this will be my 'go to' one moving forward.

I've stayed here several times as a business traveler, and most recently stayed here for two nights on business. First strike, they no longer have room service. Now for many people visiting Manhattan, this might not be a big deal. You're going out on the town anyway. But for weary business travelers like me, who have been to NYC countless times, sometimes a room service meal is just what you need. Second strike, no coffee pot in the room. Again, to some - this might not be important. But to me, it's something every hotel should have. Even the cheapest hotels have them. For $250+ a night, there should be a coffee pot. No free coffee in the lobby either. And strike three, they did not give me my Doubletree cookie upon check in. I had to ask for it. Please remember business travelers when making decisions, not just tourists.

Bellhop/Doorman obnoxious and in the way of people trying to enter the hotel. Place is really worn out - hole in carpet, hole in sheets, paint torn on ceiling. Room seemed clean enough but very worn out. Only reason for 3rd star is that our room was quiet. That was a plus.

No working vending machines, random people calling our room due to crossed phone lines, super crowded elevators, and no fridge in the room. I'm a diamond member 9 straight years and spend a lot of time in Hilton Hotel rooms, this was one of the worst experiences I have had. That being said, the bellman were nice and the location was perfect.

My room was small. My room was in need of a remodel. eg. The doors on bathroom and closet were not straight. The paint in the bathroom roof was bubbling. The heater took a long time to warm the room. At times, the Internet was too slow to stream movies. I could hear lots of noises from other rooms and halls etc. There was very little room for cars at the entrance of the hotel. The bed was very hard. The room was dusty. There. was very limited lighting in the room. All the lighting was florescent. For the last few hours of our stay they were using a jackhammer a few rooms over. It was defining.

The room was clean and the bed was fine, but the shower lever was broken in the bathroom, so no showers to be had. When we checked out they said "Oh sorry about that, did you call someone for repair service?". That's not a very practical solution at 7am, when I discovered it while getting ready to take a shower.

No fridge, coffeemaker, etc. in the room. Pretty bare bones. There was no ice machine on the 6th floor, I went to the 2nd floor and found one behind a closed door in a concrete room with garbage cans.

Ess-a-bagel is around the corner for a more affordable breakfast.

Exactly what we were looking for. We had a decent view of the city out of our window. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean. The rates were reasonable. We'll be using this hotel in the future. 10 minute walk to the train station.

The room rates are good but the hotel is old and needs a make over real soon! Beds are on the hard side. Double beds are really small! Can barely fit two full size adults.
Overall an okay hotel hence the three star rating.

The front desk staff was very nice and gave us warm cookies at check-in, and I love that we could drop our bags off before check-in for $2. The room was very clean with housekeeping coming by daily, and the bed was comfortable. It's in a good location with a lot of inexpensive restaurants nearby. We did hear every little noise outside of the room, including inconsiderate families slamming their doors and talking loudly, but that's not the hotel's fault. There are no complimentary extras, like coffee or filtered water for drinking. Breakfast was quick with friendly service, but it gets expensive. We ordered a la carte and not from the buffet, and the servers were fine with that. The gift shop is very expensive, and a big bottle of water was almost $8. We had great water pressure in the shower, and the water got very hot, which was a good thing. I did pull a hairball out of the shower drain before we used the shower. There was no daily resort fee, which I was very grateful for. I would stay here again.

Will never stay here again. I'm a business consultant who travels all the time, I know what good looks like - this was my worst hotel stay in multiple years. Room wasn't ready at check in, gave us doubles instead of a king - that happens regularly at hotels, so not really an issue. Rooms are outdated, in need of repairs, and not all outlets worked. Walls are paper thin, we got woken up by housekeeping knocking on other people's doors starting around 8am on Fri (we had do not disturb). But then the keys stopped working (everyday I needed new keys) then the last day of our stay without warning, I went to get my new keys (again), after having to wait for 15 min and they told me we would be forced to change rooms because they needed the double for other guests. We were coming back to drop stuff and go to dinner, instead we had to pack and move rooms. When I was told this by the manager, he let me know that they would be waiving the late check out fee from the room we were getting kicked out of, like he was doing me a favor. Finally got in the new room, called customer service, was on hold for 10 min, gave my information, on hold again, new person comes on the line and wants all my information again. Reservation was in my wife's name, so she says she can't talk me. Takes 25 min for her solution to be entering the complaint and we'll get an email - which is a non-solution.

I consult for the hospitality industry, this was an example of disengaged or non-empowered employees who kept actively making a poor situation worse. Stay somewhere else.

**UPDATE**
Shower drain in new room backs up. They slipped a couple free breakfast vouchers under our door in the middle of the night - a nice gesture, but literally worthless since I didn't know they were coming and only gave myself 20 min to wake up, get ready, and head to the airport for a morning flight. Nice woman at check out was the sole positive interaction I had with staff - she gave me points in exchange for the breakfast vouchers. Again, stay somewhere else.

As a Hilton Honors member, I found it inconvenient to have to get my own bottled water from the bar that wasn't open until the evening. The check-in was lengthy and crowded and would have been an absolute nightmare if I arrived after one of the numerous flight crews I saw at the hotel over my two night stay. Rooms are nice. Hotel is clean. Great location and well priced for Manhattan. I would stay again.

Went up to NYC this week for a work trip, which means I don't get to choose my hotel, but when I heard I was going to be staying at the DoubleTree, I was optimistic. I mean, cookies, right?? :D ..but it turned out that the cookie was the only thing I liked about the trip (just don't read the nutrition facts on the back or that'll be ruined for you too).

I checked in around 3pm and that went smoothly enough after waiting in a line of 10 people with 1 person at the desk. The HHonors desk person starting helping out, which moved things along. At this point, I wasn't upset at all. Once I got to the $306/night room, I immediately was a little bummed. Small. Dark. Musty. Whatever... it's a quick 1-day trip in Manhattan. I'll deal. Threw my **BAM** bag down and went out for the company dinner. When I got back at 10:30, I started to get ready for bed. Sat on the sheets **BAM** and tried to connect to the "high speed" internet. I could barely stream Netflix with it once I finally decoded the absolute terrible handwriting on the password given to me. I actually wasn't able to decode it myself - I had to contact the front desk **BAM** to have them read it to me.

At this point **BAM** you're probably wondering what these "BAM"s are. Well, WARNING: DO NOT STAY IN ROOMS AROUND 240-250. I was in 245. Every couple minutes you'd hear "grinddd click click click grind click (pause) (faster) clickclickclick BAMMM!!!". It's after 11pm. I called the front desk, they hear me out, and without offering any help, just transfer me to the manager. I tell him what's going on and he says "ohh.. your room is right over the parking garage. It should stop soon as fewer people come in late".
I explained that I spent over $350 on the room and had to be up at 6am.
He says "unfortunately we're sold out".
I only say "ok...".
Finally after an awkwardly long pause he says "...is it TERRIBLY disturbing?".
Me: "well yeah... Disturbing enough to call you about it."
Him: "Let me see.... AH! We just had something come available on the 7th floor." (mind you, this is 11pm. I have no idea how something can "just become available" when you just told me you were all booked up).
Me: ...... "I'll take it".
Him: "Are you all packed?"
Me: "Yes. Haven't even unmade the bed"
Him: "Okay, I'll meet you outside of your new room with the keys".

20 minutes later, standing in the hall in pajamas and after calling the front desk again asking where they were, another employee (not the manager) came up with a key card.

Once in the new room, still dark (just poor lighting in the hotel I suppose), the sink drained slower than it filled, as did the shower. On top of that, the TV's guide channel didn't work, so you had to go through 1 channel at a time with about a 5 second delay between channel changes. Also, internet speed was nearly unbearable. On top of that, everything had a semi-coarse feel to it, as if it had been swept off but not actually cleaned with anything (I worked cleaning motel rooms back in high school, so I'm familiar with what to look for - this wasn't a thorough job).

I really wish I could have liked this place more, but I just couldn't get past these issues and the crazy fact that they would charge anyone over $300 (before tax) for a room directly over a parking garage that was so loud that you could literally feel the vibrations of the gears and slamming of the door. This room shouldn't be rented to anyone, and if it is, there should be full disclosure at the front desk as well as a majorly discounted rate.

Cherry on top: The new room had a card on the bed saying something along the lines of "If you aren't satisfied, let us know and we'll make it right". There was no such card in the room on top of the parking garage. Gotta wonder if that was an oversight or not.. I'm leaning toward not.

Note: I was torn between 1 and 2 stars. I've never left a 1 star review before and it feels "mean". I think the difference comes down to "would I give them another try?", and no... this is the first time I wouldnt. That was the deciding factor for me.

Probably the WORST hotel I ever been in my entire life.

Not worth the 400$CAN I spend there for one night. The beds (two in my room) was so inconfortable (kind of bed with to much springs) and no coffee in the room. I think that is a minimum for that price.
The staff makes me feel that I was always disturbing them even if I was alone at the desk. From the guy in the garage who was to rough with my car (put the car in park when it still moving) to the desk, everybody make me feel that way.
I received a free upgrade of my room at the check in that was charge the next day on my credit card.
Ask the guy right beside the concierge desk who wasn t there for a simple information (where is the subway) to receive an answer like Ask the concierge . Me- She s not there . Him- Just say EXCUSE ME very loud she s gonna come ... Really??! And when she arrived, she give me a flyer and says You got everything in that .
I got more help on the street with strangers.

For the check out, I ask the women there if I can have a receipt. It s in your email . Me- So I just have to show this to the men in the parking as a proof that I pay? Her- You should tell me that before mister... I have to go back in your file to print one for the garage . WHAT??? This is your damn job to ask me lady!! I don t know how it works in your hotel!!!
At the end, I asked for a room to leave my luggage for an hour as a service like anywhere in the world, and the guys there ask to pay for that (without any possible receipt) before and after when I take it back.

I WILL NEVER EVER GOING TO SPEND A NICKEL IN THAT HOTEL EVER AGAIN.

There is hundreds of hotel in NY more cheaper than that one with better service.

If you are going to stay here then please hide or lock all valuables. The cleaning lady stole my iPad and security won't do anything about it because they said their workers belong to a Union and therefore are "untouchable" .....I am sure this encourages more and more employees to steal -knowing they can get away with it- infact since stealing is allowed per the management then I don't know why they even need a security office!I had proof from my carrier that it was still in the hotel and emitting a signal but that wasn't good enough.

Positives - The doorman was great, the lobby has a good gathering space, the room was updated, and clean, the location is pretty good. The Urbanspace food market is across the street, 3 long blocks away from St. Patrick s Cathedral and Rockefeller Center, a walk to Grand Central Station, and right on the Lexington subway line. Negatives: I probably won t stay here again. Not all of the staff was friendly or willing to help, at the restaurant and the front desk. The elevator button lights didn t work on the 12th floor and once it wouldn t stop at our floor so we had to go up to go down. My biggest complaint is about the bathroom in our room. There is no fan and not sufficient air circulation. So the walls are warped and the bottom of the door was peeling, the mirror badly needs to be replaced.

Love this place! Great location near subways, staff is attentive and responded immediately when my automatic lock went out..my only complaint is about the hotel bar. One special martini was $17, then they automatically tacked on a nearly $3 tip!! Too much..

If you are here for vacation, then I think you'll ...

If you are here for vacation, then I think you'll be fine in this hotel. If you are here for business, then get ready to be laughed at by the hotel concierges and bell hops when they are making you late. I have an anxiety disorder and see a specialist for it. When my bad experience led to a panic attack, the hotel staff left me crying and hyperventilating on the floor for over 10 minutes. I felt so helpless and worst, everyone was staring at me. It felt in incredibly cruel and insensitive. I'm an actress and was in town for a press appearance.
For this appearance, I needed to arrive at 5pm at Rockefeller center. I was working on press for an upcoming movie. I'm not famous, but I have worked on many notable projects. The staff made me so late to my premiere that I wasn't even able to do interviews at the end of the carpet. It's not great to come all the way to NY from LA only to have your dreams crushed by a hotel service staff.
Here's what happened: I was told when I arrived at 1pm to check-in that my room was not ready. A doorman took my bags, and I gave my ID and credit card and checked into the room. I was told that when I came back I could get the key and everything was taken care of. I was also told I'd be called when the room was ready. Well, 330 rolls around, I don't get a call. I go back to the hotel at 4pm and the line out the door. I'm not in hair/ makeup yet, and it typically takes me about 45 minutes to get ready for a carpet event. I need to be at the movie premiere by 5pm.
I politely ask the baggage handler if he can help expedite this for me, as I'd already stood in line earlier that day. I didn't not have another minute to spare. He smirked at first and said wait in line. I then notified him that this was an urgent career situation. He went to talk to someone, some kind of a supervisor came out to help me, and he listened to my problem. Said he was on it and never came back. When I finally reached to front desk at 4:25, I complained to the front deskman and he laughed at me! Then acted like this hotel does it all this time.
At 4:25, I'm starting to freak out. The entire purpose of the trip is going to this premiere. If I am on the Red Carpet too late, then when a-listers show up at the end of the carpet then no one will be able to do an interview because they'll be waiting for that a-lister. I also know it's rude to show up to a premiere not dressed professionally. They plan to start the movie at 6. I'm explaining how much I need that key and my bag, and when I didn't have a baggage ticket (because i was never given one in the first place), the staff at the front desk simply ignored me practically calling me a crazy liar. At 435 I start to have a panic attack. No one is helping, and I am a lump crying in my dog's fur praying to God that SOMEONE will help me.
Finally, I walk around the corner and see a concierge, and she was the first one a.) to notice that I really needed help and b.) I was having a panic attack and couldn't help it. She gave me some tissues and a hug. (it really did make me feel better) She got me in touch with the hotel manager. He finally found my suitcase, and I got it by 4:50. So, I have 20 minutes to get ready. I arrived too late for interviews for the carpet. It's like they probably should have comped the stay. Because they cost me my entire reason for coming. I feel very exploited by the front desk staff.
I will be talking with them and getting names before I leave. This isn't a hotel filled with a rude staff, but the late afternoon weekend front desk staff could not have dropped to ball more. The Hilton mission statement is h for hospitality. Who leaves a guest crying on the floor and laughs at them like they're crazy? How is that hospitality? The N stands for Now which means they'll be as quick as they can. Not when I really needed it. I'm sorry but your front desk failed me. I won't stay here again.

Horrible-stay away!! Bed bug bites. I stayed there and was bitten over 29 times from bed bugs! I went downstairs and they did not care at all. Finally, they told me they would lock the room, call an inspector. Within the hour they called to say it was negative. No way that could happen that quickly and I have the bites to prove it. What is worse, corporate did not care and when I call the hotel to follow up, they ignore me. Their customer service just adds insult to the injury. I have the pictures to prove it!
RESPONSE to the RESPONSE below:
This is a LIE!!! I WAS NOT moved to another room!!!! How can you write lies!!! And all the inspection, etc. was within ONE HOUR - so you are writing LIES. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! Is there no honor in Hilton Honors?!

Great location and a very comfortable bed. The bed is so comfy you don t want to leave it all day. However, the city is all tempting. I do recommend a renovation of the bathroom. Hence the 4 stars.

Be wary of these guys. I had booked 2 rooms in March 2019 for an eagerly awaited stay in Manhattan. When we reached after a long flight from India we were shocked to be told that they had cancelled the booking!! We stood in the crowded lobby trying to reason with staff but you should have seen the callous indifference. Obviously they had given the rooms off at higher rates during the Memorial Day weekend. We had to make alternate arrangements.
Beware these cheats!
