This was my third stay here within the past few years; the hotel needs renovating; it is dated. My room was clean, but the decor and furniture are disappointing. All staff members I encountered were great. They were professional and helpful. I like this hotel and location, but it's needs updating.

Terrible. The staff (frontdesk & restaurant hostess) are more than rude, disrespectful and arrogant. The rooms are small and old. The location is good because is in the heart of the Midtown. But seriously, the owner must think in provide basic communication skills or anger management courses to their employees or fire them.

rude staff as described in other reviews too - it is funny I had never seen such rude staff before. I had read the reviews but didnt think it is this much rude. rooms are dirty but this is nothing compared to attetude of their staff.

I have never felt like more of an inconvenience at a hotel. Anytime I needed anything it either took me multiple times or an irritating amount of time. To get to the parking you either have to take two sets if stairs or walk around half the block. Parking is $55 a night, make sure you validate at the hotel or it's $70. Don't come here if you want a fridge, microwave, or polite/timely service.

The only dudes that were cool was the manager who got me ice and the bell hop that told me to go self parking stop save $8 a day.

Bathroom at this location left much to desire. They were areas of chip paint on the walls and door in the bathroom. The tub is slow draining. The bathroom was very tiny, fitting only one person at a time.

Nice location of the city. Everything you need is nearby. The stuff was friendly. My TV was not working but they fixed it quickly. The central park, central station and times Square is walking distance.

The facilities were great and I did enjoy my stay, but unfortunately the experience changed to my surprise O noticed a charge on my credit card after checkout so I enquired about it and it was for a car park I never had, so I questioned it and was provided a receipt for it. The frustrating part to this was Ive dealt with 4 different people trying to get a refund with no luck so far as I need to prove I was charged even though a receipt for the charge was provided to me. I provided a screenshot of my charge as credit card statements work on a 30 day cycle, but apparently still not sufficient, I feel like I'm getting no where with this and I'm doing all the chasing up even though it wasn't my error if this can get sorted it would be much appreciated.

Stayed there 3 nights in November. When I made the reservation directly though then I requested and was granted a roll away. Upon check-in I was refused a cot due to it being a fire hazard in the room we had. I had to go back and forth with the front desk about this and eventually I finally got them to let me speak to management. He gave us the cot.
The room was very warm. It was 74 degrees. There is a thermostat in the rooms but it is useless, it does not xo from your room temp. I spoke to the front desk and management about this issue as well and was told it s a two pipe system and has one main control in the building. So if you can t sleep with temps in the mid 70 s I would advise staying somewhere else. This was very difficult for us as we normally like it around 67.
Location was perfect, steps to the subway and a short walk to Rockefeller center and 5th ave. A couple more things I would like to mention is the overwhelming smell of perfume in the lobby area of the hotel. It was a bit much. The showers water pressure was awful, rusty spout and no bathroom fan so by the time you re done your shower the ceiling is dripping.
Very old building that is not updated.
Breakfast was good and service all around in the hotel was great.
I don t think we d stay here again simply due to no room temp controls.

Only one person checking in/out non Hilton Honors guests, so it was a long line. When we did get to the attendant she was very wonderful. Room was very nice. Simpl and perfect for a one night stay. I also love those darn cookies warm and delicious.

My experience at this hotel has been nothing but extremely frustrating.

The front staff provided short, unhelpful answers and often led to me waiting in the wrong place because they couldn't take the time to properly answer my questions. My room key would constantly stop working which meant I had to keep going back to the front desk staff to reprogram it. The elevators and service are slow which, at the end of a long business day, made this all incredibly irritating.

And then when I couldn't wait to get out of the hotel, my invoice for my stay doesn't make sense so that I cannot submit my expense report. I emailed the email the hotel provided three times with no response. I then call the number TWICE to only get hung up on TWICE.

I will avoid this hotel at all cost in the future. You should too.

Clean room and some staff were very lovely. However the reception lady who checked me out was both miserable and rude. Apparently my Hilton hhonors was unacceptable to get the WiFi included so I was charged extra.
They tried to sell us time share in the new Hilton venue and after finding out we didn't make the (high) rate of salary as people who could easily afford or want to have this, we were made to feel sub human.
Also the lobby was always rammed with people waiting to check in or out.

Cookies don't make up for the fact that wifi is $15/day here. They claimed it's free in the lobby but attempts to solicit the internet credentials were met with a cheesy ploy to get us to sign up for a hotel membership. Otherwise average hotel.

Very good situation, good place to know the big apple.
The only bad thing, that almost nobody speaks Spanish or if they do, they pretend they don't understand you.
In its favor, a 24-hour right next to you that serves to make a mini dinner and it's great, after a exhausting day

Stayed there one night ended up leaving my charger. 100% sure because it wasn't in my bag when I got on the train. I called reception to see if someone could check then hold it for me. Housekeeping said there was nothing there which is a COMPLETE lie. It's kind of pathetic that people would have to steal an iPhone charger at such an "established" place.

If I could give it a 0 I would. It first started off with finding a used condom in the room. They offered to upgrade me and take 50% off the fist night and comp any movies. Well tried a movie it had no sound called to have someone fix it it took over an hr for for someone to come and not be able to fix it. Then for that they gave me free drinks at the bar. Sounds nice right. Well I got the drinks after the bar closed at 2am the day I checked out. I was then told today that they almost had to call the cops on me bc the disturbance I made in the lobby which is not true at all. In fact Fernando offered me to come back and he would upgrade my room breakfast give me the best rate and even take care of parking for us. He also then upgraded a co worker I sent to this hotel before my trip. Needless to say he will be canceling his reservation. This place is a joke. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!!!!!

We arrived a few minutes early and we have a 1 year old. Check in was fast and the front desk agent was pleasant. She let us in a few minutes early to get settled with the baby. Nice room and good location. I'd stay here again and recommend to others.

NEVER BEEN TREATED WITH SO MUCH DISRESPECT. I'm not usually one to complain I travel 100+ days per year. I have stayed in thousands of hotels over the years. Most the time it's good but some times you have a bad experience. These guys took it to a whole new level. I can't list everything that went wrong because the list would be to long but here is a few:

Paid extra for a room with 2 beds and was given a room with 1 bed.
lady checking us in was rude to my friend because he booked the room using the name he goes by and not his official name on his ID.
after the staff was in able to fix the room problem. We went back to find the pullout couch I was sleeping on had no blankets.
they tried bringing blankets but brought a mattress cover instead. This happened twice.
As I was bringing the two mattress covers down to show them security stoped me and started freaking out thinking I was stealing them.

It's not that any of these things are major issues it's the arrogance of the staff in the fact they did nothing to try and make it right. And addressed it in the a rude hostile way. I do not want to keep going because words can not accurately describe their elitist mentality. Do your self a favor and skip this place.

I called down to tell front desk at around 1am for two bottles of water. I was told by Yvonne that they did not have water and if I wanted water I can use the vending machine on my floor.

I preceded to tell her I was a hilt on honors recipient and I have never stayed in a double tree that didn't provide water an cookies. She said sorry we don't have water.

After searching for the "vending machine" I came a cross the ice machine. I went back to my room and called Yvonne again. She said that if the vending machine wasn't next to the ice machine then it probably was removed bc it wasn't working. She instructed me to try different floors bc I would be bound to find one.

I then left my room for a second time only to see a bellman walking towards me with two bottles of water. When I extended my hand with a smile saying thank you he informed me that the waters were not for me and knocked on the door across from us and handed the guest the waters.

I explained to him how I was told there was no water and what transpired up until that point and he was kind enough to go get me the two bottles of water.

I called down to the front desk to get Yvonne name and inform her that I will be reporting to management how she treated me and that I was not pleased.

After I hung up about 2 mins later Yvonne called my room and slammed the phone down in my ear! At 1:30 in the morning there should be NO reason for her to be calling my room unless it was rough apologize.

I finally got the manager on duty (Pierre) although I was told the MD was George, on the phone and all he said was sorry, but you made your reservation through expedia. It was miscommunication. WHAT!!!!?????? UHM so you no longer honor the perks that come with being part of the hilton honor program because I booked my reservation through expedia?

I'm beyond upset and would never step foot back into that double tree again. It was just rude and tacky. It was not miscommunication when I told Yvonne I was an honor member and she dismissed me as if she could care less.

These are the people you hire to represent what the hilton brand stands for?

The service here is one of a motel 8. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

My wife and me stayed at Double Tree for the Labor day weekend. The Hotel is nice but the reception staff is RUDE, especially a lady named SWAPNA. She needs to learn how to talk to customers. Rude, inconsiderate and highly inflexible. Never in my life I have come across such a Rude person at a hotel. She does not want to understand the customers problems, doesn t give a damn about it and talks with a lot of attitude. I feel the hotel should do something about such staff, I m ready to share my experience in detail if required.
I don't think I will stay there next time! There are other better options around.

Location is ok you are right next to the subway. Bathroom needs an exhaust fan, the humidity in the room was unbelievable, felt like everything was damp. The envelope I had on the table even sealed shut.
Called the front desk to extend the late check out. Was only given an hour since they were sold out and needed the room. They clearly catered to the airlines. I m a Hilton Honors Gold.
Guess you have to request a refrigerator, didn t realize they wouldn t have one. After looking on the site it s a little confusing if they charged for one or not. No vending machines for late night snacks, which didn t bother me to much because I walked down the street to get something.
Housekeeping is the only reason I m going to give them 2 Stars. They were very friendly.
Guess the price I paid was because we were in Manhattan. But not worth it by any means. Probably will look elsewhere when we come back. Thanks

The room was clean. However, the bathroom (only toilet and bath) is ancient, the sink is open in the room, the window is not closed properly and the doors swell up. The door was clamped and always had to be opened with great pressure.

Great rooms and locations - NEED COFFEE! Our 3 night stay at the Doubletree was very good. The rooms are spacious and clean and the location is central to Rockefeller Plaza and Broadway. The service was wonderful. Our great thanks to Rafael, the concierge, who really helped us so very much. There was a glitch with their computer system that slowed down registration but they worked this out. My only complaint is that in the mornings you have to leave the hotel to get coffee or orange juice or anything. There is a bar in the lobby but nothing was ever open there when we left every morning before 8:00. But a coffee maker in the room or sell coffee in the lobby along with a small offering of juices. Would have made our stay just about perfect!

Front desk staff was abrupt and rude. We asked about the temperature in our room, since it was 76 and stuffy and we were told that they would look into it. Next day same issue and we were then told that the hotel was not running A/C . They went into our room opened the window and told us that we should open it if we are hot. It only opens 2 inches with no screen. Room was small but the location is great.

Whenever we go to NY we like to stay in this hotel, the price-quality ratio is quite good and the service is good, apart from the fact that their chocolate cookies are a must eat them, they are very good

This hotel is super cozy, with an awesome breakfast, and an amazing shower head.

It's a great location for accessing "local" NYC spots.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating when we had a small issue with the AC.

Overall, we'll definitely book this hotel again.

First I want to say that I am a Hilton Diamond member and I stayed over 60 nights in Hilton properties over the last year. And this is by far the worst Hilton property I have stayed in (2-4 Jan 19). (This post is long, but bear with me.)

When I checked in, I asked the gentleman checking me in if I could have my complimentary water. He said that he put me on the diamond floor and that the water would be in my room. Great. Well, when I got to my room there was no water. However, there was a horrible smell coming from the bathroom, smelled like mold, mildew and septic. I called and asked for housekeeping to come and clean the bathroom; I was just going to ask for water then. I was told that they would come right up...no such luck. Housekeeping never showed up, so I closed the door and fell asleep.

The next morning as I was leaving, I stopped by the front desk and asked for a manager. I ended up talking with a front end supervisor. I explained to her what had happened the night before. She said that she would get it taken care of right then and that she would also make sure they left water in my room for me. Well, you guessed it, when I got back to my room after work, it was the exact same way I left it that morning. Housekeeping finally showed up, but it wasn't until after 6pm. UNACCEPTABLE!!!

The next morning I got up to get a shower so I could get breakfast and catch a plane. As I was turning on the shower, the on and off lever broke off. I called the hotel operator and they said they would send engineering right up to fix it. Well, they finally showed up, 10 minutes before I had to leave for the airport...no shower for me.

As I was leaving I wanted to talk to a manager about my stay and to see if the DoubleTree would stick by their promise to make my stay right. I didn't get to talk to a manager, but I did speak with Pradley Concept - Director of Front Office. I explained everything to him and he was very nice and apologetic. He asked what he could do to make my up for my stay and to earn future business. I said that he could give me some extra points for my stay. He said he would give me an extra 15,000 points to make up for everything. I shook his hand and said thanks. Well, you can probably guess what happened (based upon my stay so far), no points!!

I do travel to NYC for work several times a year, and I can guarantee you that I will not stay in this Hilton property again.

Terrible service. Drove there from Boston to find out the room we booked was not available. After a long process of going back & forth they moved us to a 2 bed room.. not only to find out their was a cockroach on the floor. It was already to late for us to switch hotels so we stayed there. I travel a lot and have been everywhere. This was one of my worse experiences.

American Airlines changed our flight on us so we got into JFK at 1:00 am instead of 8:30 am. Got to this hotel in the wee hours. Unfortunately no rooms were available for early check-in, but they were very understanding and allowed us to rest in the lobby area and provided us with complimentary breakfast vouchers. We got nothing from American Airlines. Thank you so much Doubletree! Am definitely recommending this place to others.

Nice hotel, no problems with the room. Staff is not polite or helpful. I left an item in my room when I checked out, my mistake, but when I called to inquire about it the staff could not be bothered to help me. 24 hours now without a call back. Another disappointment was I paid extra to have breakfast provided and had to ask for my vouchers because they had no idea. Breakfast was NOT worth the extra $19. The eggs were disgustingly runny and obviously powdered with water added. This breakfast was worse than the free breakfasts offered by other hotels, which surprises me because it is in an actual restaurant. So apparently if you eat off the menu you get decent food but if you pay for the buffet--not free--you get subpar cuisine. Not what I expected from this hotel.

Check in was flawless and location was amazing. I called the night before check in as I saw all of the bad reviews but was assured by the late night desk staff that room 1551 was a good corner room. Room 1551 stands in need of major upgrades and surely to the bathroom and closet. During the shower condensation formed on the ceiling and the water was dripping back down on you. Also the paint was peeling off the door. Visible defects that I know maintenance could handle. Mattresses were a bit hard as well. As a Hilton Honors friends and family member I wouldn t stay here again. I wish I would have cancelled and booked somewhere else as me nor my friends felt totally comfy per usual. The good thing is that for our short overnight stay we didn t find it necessary to complain.

Location was great! The Hotel was.... Okay. Staff was nice, but the room smelled mildewy, paint was peeling, everything needed updating, neighboring room's plumbing backed up into our sink, etc... All in all, I don't anticipate staying here again, But it did get the job done.

It's certainly nothing remarkable. And the lack of a fridge in the rooms stands out. But it's a solid budget choice in a strategic part of town. If you just need a place to sleep and take a shower, this is more than fine! As an odd note, when I visited, the lobby and at least one hallway smelled powerfully of roses, like someone spilled a bottle of perfume or something. I didn't find it unpleasant, but it's an odd, kind of aggressive choice for ambience, if it's on purpose.

Right.

Right.
Super friendly waiters.
Good ubication.
Edge reception. That is why they must give the cookie
You have to pay for the wifi.

Best location impossible to do everything on foot from there. It has underground and pharmacy (better many Brazilian markets) at the door. Nice room and service tb. If I ever go back to this city, I'll stay at this hotel.

Stay 3 nights in this hotel in February 2019, and the hotel didn't provide any bottle of water, tea/coffee bags during our staying; and there is no kettle in the room neither. (Front deck sent a broken kettle after we asked, but it is a broken one)
Will not book this place again, and definitely not recommend to stay here if there are other options.
