A fairly decent zoo. I like the changing seasonal decorations. My choice of 4 stars is because there isn't a lot of shade, and in the summer with kids, this can turn into a nightmare. With our membership, we've mastered this by getting there early and getting in and out by 12.

Probably would have liked this trip better if it hadn't been hot. There are quite a few neat animals. They landscaping is well done. Each of the restroom have handicap access. There is also a family restroom and many baby changing stations. Water from the fountains tasted alright but was not very cool. We weren't too impressed with the bears. I have seen zoos with better polar bear and penguin exhibits. In all its a nice zoo. Expect parking to be a hassle. But isn't it everwhere in Denver. We parked over by the rental boats at the city park and walked in. They have places to pick up a bite to eat all seemed to have reasonable prices.
My family had a great time today. It was really crowded, but we missed alot of it by going really early, plus the animals are more active in the morning when it's cooler.
A lot of the animals were put away for the cold months and there wasn't much to supplement. Like no reduced ticket offer or more shows. It was pretty dead.
Inside the zoo is great. Admission is reasonable and it has lots of animals. The only reason for the low review is it took 30 minutes of driving the park to find a spot to park. We did come in the afternoon so I would recommend arriving as early as possible to find a parking spot
Terrific place to spend a day with the family. Lots of informative exhibits and things to see. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable, and the animal seem to be well treated and have good living space.
One of our favorite places to go for a walk and a picnic people are allowed to bring a cooler in The zoo is always upgrading the park The zoo lights is a must Christmas time
Haven't been to the zoo since a kid and forgot how great it is. They have a new elephant exhibit (new since I was a kid) and it us fantastic. It was still winter when we we went so not all the animals were out, but we unexpectedly spent two hours here and they had to kick us out. Recommend to everyone especially those who haven't gone in a while, go on a good weather day and it is a good time.
I've been going to the Denver Zoo since the 80's, and it's come a long way. Many improvements, nicer amenities. Parking can be quite a challenge depending on day.
The Denver Zoo never disappoints! You can rent a stroller for your children, eat just about any type of food from Pizza to Burgers to amazing BBQ, the park is always extremely clean and decorated for each season!
Excellent zoo, animals look as if they have enough room and are well cared for. Landscape design is beautiful, well designed architectural design as well.
It wasn't worth the 20.00 we spent per person they barely had animals most of the ones they had were scruffy looking poor animals looked so hot and tired it broke my heart to see the lion's
Such an amazing zoo! So many unique animals to see with very naturalistic exhibits. The elephant talk was very educational and fun to see! A lot of the animals were very active and moving, even though it was a hot day. The zoo staff was very professional, knowledgeable, and provided lots of educational facts. This is a must see if your in the area.
Definitely get you tickets online. Makes thing way easier. It was great to see the elephants and giraffes and not a ridiculous line! Have fun and bundle up!
Loved this zoo, many different exhibits from numerous regions. They have a lot to offer here and enough to entertain for hours on in. It's a bit pricey for admission but you get what you pay for. My only complaint regarding exhibits, I would like to see the Polar Bear exhibit more arctic themed. Great place to visit and would recommend.
I was not impressed. The polar bear looked sick and had little water to be in. Over half the animals were not in their exhibits. Several of the exhibits that should have had water, had none. Asked an employee a question and he would not help or even attempt to answer the qurstion. Hardly any signs to clearly outline the park. I was very disappointed as that is my favorite thing to do. I will stick going to the Albuquerque zoo.
Stopped in at 9 am on a Sunday and it was already pretty busy. Decently priced at $20 per adult.
Zoo is laid out weird. It has a circular path but there are a lot of meandering mini paths and dead ends.
Something that really bothered me was how many empty exhibits they had. Seriously at least 10 to 12 empty exhibits. Not complaining about animals being shy either, I mean nothing there.
Staff was uninvolved. Most stalls for food and drink and items didnt open until 10 or 11am either.
Elephant enclosure was awesome and worth every penny.
Quite a few enclosures were closed. Didn't get to see any cat species at all. Other than that, we had a blast. Plenty of shade and areas to get drinks and snacks. FYI bring your own water as theirs is $4 for a regular size Dasani there are many places to refill your own bottles as well.
Recently went, if you've been here before you are no longer allowed to free roam. There is a set path that you have to follow due to the pandemic. This doesn't take away from you enjoying the exhibits. Our daughter still had a fun time.
Overpriced, too many people, no place to park. No Animals to see just lights on trees. We will definitely miss this next year. Not worth it. Stay home and walk around your neighborhood with hot chocolate..
I use to live in San Diego for a number of years. The San Diego Zoo has always been highest on my list, but after my first and second visits to the Denver Zoo, that might have to change. I've never seen animals so active and so up close. The lions were all visible and super close to the glass. The gorillas are super observant and the baby is such a joy to watch, and at Christmas time, the Zoo lights is a fun date night! I got year passes so I will be back many times!
Amazing adventure for the family. My wife and daughter had never been to a zoo. Lots of information about the animals and large paths for walking. Decent amount of restrooms. Food was also very good. I advice downloading the app for the zoo as well, made navigating and timing the events a breeze.
Great displays & a lot of animals to look at! Only thing I didn't like was all the goose poo all over the ground of the eating areas. Other than that wonderful zoo!
Denver has a wonderful zoo! Restrictions in place for COVID were very well managed. It was a beautiful day today and the animals were active and entertaining!
Our Denver Zoo experience could have been better if we had gone earlier in the day instead of 4 PM because probably about 75% of the animals were in their enclosures or napping outside of clear views. Overall, everything was A-OK.
Two hours was just about the right amount of time to see almost all of the zoo without viewing any of the shows which usually run from 11 AM til 3 PM. The standard variety of animals are there all situated in reasonable spaced enclosures. We spent the most time with the giraffes indoors and got a true perspective of how tall these animals really are standing about 5 or 6 feet away from them. You can even more personal with other animals if you choose to do one of their Up-Close Animal Encounters.
Other than rehabilitation of animals back to their natural habitat, providing refuge for animals that would not be able to survive in their normal environments, and for conservation of endangered species, I've developed an indifferent attitude toward zoos. Especially, now that the kids are older and have seen all the animals, I'm not a particular fan of watching cheetahs pace back and forth anxiously, watching sea otters swim endless laps in their tanks until I actually start getting dizzy, or training animals to perform tricks just for our amusement.
Overall, this is a solid zoo that's worth the $17 price of admission if you're a zoo person and you'll be assured to enjoy it if you go early enough.
The zoo is doing a good job of putting safety measures in place during COVID. There is one way traffic flow and they have employees sitting in lifesaver stations for the purpose of letting people know rules when they aren't following them (masks) and letting people know what path through the zoo provides what experience as far as time and animals.
We could have spent the day there if we wouldn t have got so tired! Tons to do! Don t forget to bring change of clothes at the water play area. The only problem I had was the lack of water stations to refill water. Only one worked. Just plan on bringing tons of water.
Wonderful place to take kids and learn about wildlife, meet exotic animals that have only read in books or seen on TV. I recommend to go early, avoid parking problems, heat and crowd.
My family and I had a GREAT time! We were there for almost 6 hours! My favorite was feeding the beautiful larikeets! If I could do that all day!! My son is three and loved all the animals. The elephant show was great. My son had a blast on the carousel. We also had some delicious loaded tots at a food truck they had that day.
Some animals weren't out because of renovations but it was still a great time. Beautiful zoo and I loved all the flowers too. Love to see feeding times
