Stayed in the Bayshore building. View from the room is fantastic, coffee maker clean and easy to use. Staff friendly and welcoming.
Facility is very very tired. Carpets badly stained and in some areas ripped. 3 bags of laundry left outside my room on check in still there in the morning. Not sure when the last deep clean was done in the room, its been a long time. Shower strength almost non-existant. Construction of a condo building on the property started making heavy equipment noise at 7 am.
Overall quite a disappointment as I had heard good things and certainly their advertizing suggests its a first class facility. It is not.
A great place to relax or get a good workout. Lots to do. Great food ! Staff are friendly and always willing to assist. One of the best places to stay when in the northern part of Ontario.
Horrible experience from check in. Had to wait in line 1 hour to check in. Water leaking in bathroom....that wasn't fixes for three days.....they dropped off a bag of towels and told us to deal with it. Unresponsive and rude front desk. Average food...list goes on. Never coming back. Also.....staff in kids room were texting instead of watching the kids.....little bit reciculous to say the least.
Stayed at deerhurst for their beerhurst festival. Overall we had a nice experience, we stayed in the lakeside condo, it was well equipped and the bed was comfy. Only downside was we were the only unit without a balcony, wish we knew that in advance! The festival was average, we understand that this was the first year so there is room for improvement, more activities, more seating etc. The resort overall is a little bit older than I remember from previous visits, grounds could use improvements, not many paths to walk on during the winter.
Great dinner for new years eve... Pricey, but well worth it. Pictured is the lamb, the surf and turf, the seafood sampler and the mushroom soup. We were a little worried it would turn out to be substandard and overpriced... But in the end, we were very happy with the evening. So much food, we didn't finish the last course.
Lots of activities provided for the Canada aday long weekend. Friendly and efficient service. Easy to find assistance. Family friendly environment. Nice if they can extend canoe/kayak/etc. hours to the evening.
Great amenities. The condos have aged well and still feel homey. I didn't sleep well in the beds and the pillows weren't very nice either. They felt very cheap. Also the resort is pretty close to Huntsville where there are plenty of shops and restaurants to check out.
IMO the best resort ever in Muskoka, best service, all water activities are free. Crew is very helpful and always cheerful, resturant is fantastic, overall 5 *
Recently visited Deerhurst Resort for a dealer conference. The room was ready early. No complaints about the resort what so ever. Great friendly staff. Currently looking into going up there for a weekend visit as they have plenty of activities to do.
Staff are friendly and professional. The choice of activities is very good (even though some are paid and some included). The upkeep is solid but things seem to be a touch dated, especially in the apartment/suites.
The suites (we were in a three bedroom) are fully furnished and very functional! However they can be a bit of a hike to the main building and activities.
Pros: -The beach and activities kept the kids entertained for hours. They loved the kayaks, paddle-boards and water-trampolines which were included with the resort fee. -Our experience in the Maples restaurant, while expensive, was very pleasant. -Staff at Rock Climbing wall stayed for an extra 30 mins to accommodate our kids (the front desk staff failed to tell us we needed to book a time when we called ahead to inquire about the hours of operation.) Location is close to Toronto and easy to access Cons: -Waterfront staff were all teens - not well-trained or well supervised. -At the Beach, we couldn't tell who was staff as most were not in uniform. -The lifeguard chair was left vacant a couple of times - perhaps there was another lifeguard watching from the hut at the beach but it was hard to tell as not all guards were in the typical red outfits. -Our room in the Bayshore building was very dated and not well cleaned. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was caked in dust and the screens were ripped. -The fridge was the smallest I have ever seen. -The hallway had an awful smell as staff had not cleaned up properly from a recent flood. -At check-in we received nothing by way of resort information only to discover that it wasn't available in room. The resort channel was out do to a storm the previous day so we couldn't access it that way either. -There is little for older kids to do in the evenings. After a day spent in the lake, the pool is not very appealing and Rock climbing closes at 6pm.
A lakeside resort with a lot of fun activities. Indoor and outdoor pools, kayak, paddle board, jet ski, music and magic shows, etc. Besides, there is a beautiful golf course within the resort. There are also hiking and adventure activities nearby, including a provincial park and a ski resort. The rooms are a bit dated but still comfortable. All in all, a great place for fun and vacation for all seasons.
Great food. Questionable service. Not sure if they were having a bad day. Or if we were local and not feeling the love. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. And will return because our meal was fantastic.
Our family had a great time. We rented a room in one of the Tennis view condos and we were in a bottom unit. The condos were cozy but could hear everyone walking around on the unit above us. The beach was nice but surprisingly small for a resort that size. Some activities were down due to Covid-19 measures but we still had a wonderful time. Would definitely return.
We had booked a group booking within guidelines we are a group of professionals with exotic cars we had paid last week and gone over menus and under 48 hours prior we get notified that our booking is cancelled as they do not feel comfortable accommodating us as there was something on media about a group of cars in Ancaster which in no way was connected to us but they used that as an example to inconvenience us after we spent a ton of money on others to have this lunch but sadly they inconvenienced a group of 50 guests do not recommend save yourself the headache
Fantastic atmosphere, beautiful area, friendly staff, cozy rooms, the food was amazing! There seems to be some confusion/lack of communication between deferent areas of the resort, eg. We where told to go to the barn even given a map and directions for our scheduled carriage ride only to get there and the place was closed? Called the resort and was told "The carriage picks you up at the front of the hotel, so sorry for the misinformation", according to the girl driving the carriage this is a very common and frustrating occurrence.
The hot tub chemicals were a little strong to the point of burning our eyes and bleaching my bathing suit.
Still we had a fantastic time and would recommend this resort to others. Any problems we had were quickly and efficiently delt with :)
Pleasant. Service in some cases awesome. Shirley the shuttle driver and was awesome. Front desk was a tad no centric for our liking. Lots of awesomeness, some things question the 4 star status....ie, no room service where we stayed. Food was food, but not great, but expensive. Would def do again, buy some challenges for the wife, who used to work here who feels the service levels are going backwards. Best parts are arcade, condo style rooms choice (totally worth it), winter outdoor activities -fat bike, cross country skiing first time ever was both awesome. Overall, it would be super awesome, but the price makes you feel like there should be a finer touch and focus on super service. I will say 90percent of the staff were super awesome....really good Overall, the answer is yes. Any stay at any place is not going to be perfect if you look hard enough. And at these prices you look. I enjoyed it immensely. Would be 4 of 5 'cept for pricing.
Went on a hiking trail in the morning. It was very enjoyable but there wasn't much snow and it was raining. The indoor activities were mostly children oriented but the xbox kinnect was pretty fun. Overall it was a good experience.
Room size was good. Food in restaurant is ok but expensive. Major downfall is Hotel aligns themselves with bad companies. Activity staff not aware of ATV company information. ATV company is horrible didn t answer phone or return calls left by us, the hotel or the activity stores manager. Tried booking a ATV tour for our 6 year old for his birthday, didn t happen. Will not return.
For a giant resort like this I was hoping they would have an adult pool and jacuzzi. The only pool was filled with kids and not relaxing at all even though we went at 945 pm
We're here for a dance competition and the facilities are great. We booked a suite with a kitchenette. It's spacious, nicely designed, well stocked and comfortable. The activities like rock climbing aren't cheap but they're fun. And there are great hiking trails.
We spent two nights. The room was dated and the food at Eclipse was mediocre. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Not really worth the $700 we spent.
Myself, my husband and our two kids came to Deerhurst for the first time only a few short weeks ago. We enjoyed the stay so much that we decided to recommend the place to my brother and his family and all came back together this weekend. When we called to book, it was a room for 4 kids and 4 adults. We paid 580. We were so excited and told the kids about all of the activities for kids including the Fun Zone and Bingo. My kids were very excited to return and my brother's kids were very excited to arrive given all of the amazing things we told them we were about to do. We arrived to a packed parking lot and were immediately alarmed. When I went to check in I was advised that there was an all weekend conference and that there would not be any activities happening for children. I am left completely disappointed. You would think when you making a booking that involves not just one but 4 children the establishment would advise you that kids activities are essentially cancelled for an adult conference. We had already drove 2.5 hours to get here so we reluctantly decided to stay. We will now not be back. I can not give me business to an organization that would rather make a dollar than educate their clients on the circumstances surrounding their stay when 4 children are involved. We now have 4 extremely disappointed children on our hands. What was supposed to be a fun family weekend was not close to what we expected. We made the best of it for the children's sake but are left dumbfounded that we were not properly educated.
We spent two days and one night at Deerhurst. Booking online was easy and we did it last minute on their site. The room in Bayshore was a 5 minute walk (steep though) from the main building and although it didn t bother us, there is a free shuttle available if you prefer. The restaurants were good and fairly priced. Maple pub was decent pub food, and the breakfast at eclipse (a la carte, not buffet which seemed expensive) was good and both had large portions. The resort fee covered all activities so we did the nighttime snowshoeing which was nice under the stars and also cross country skiing. Their own trails are decent for beginners, and took about an hour to do both of them. That said, these guys are so great they let you take the skiis off-site, so we spent two hours at Arrowhead park (amazing trails). So why only 4 stars? I don t think I ve slept on a more uncomfortable bed. It s a shame because the rooms were big, clean, and fairly modern, but after a day of skiing, I expected a good sleep. All in all, I would certainly go back, and compared to other places closer to the gta, the value and scenery here is untouchable.
Had a great time. Food was very good . As was the service. Lighting outside could use some attention as sidewalks are not even . Hard to see the uneven sidewalks. All and all would recommend
My stay at Deerhurst Resort was great: the amenities, grounds, and rooms are beautiful. Unfortunately, upon my arrival, the Resort could not provide me with my room until 2.5 hours after check-in time. I was told that check in time is not necessarily 4pm, but BEGINS at 4pm. This response was unacceptable. 5/5 stars for the resort, 2/5 stars for the service.
Reservations were booked in May with breakfast included, but when we arrived at the resort, we were told that we had to pay extra for breakfast, which was an extra cost for 4 rooms. We had dinner reservations for the Eclipse restaurant on Saturday evening at 6,15pm for 12guests, which was a 50th wedding anniversary. At 5,00pm I got a phone call at my room, telling me that the reservation has been cancelled because there was a shortage of staff due to 4 weddings. All other restaurants at the resort were fully booked at that time. The manager tried to help us, but the whole experience was very upsetting. Most upsetting was that apparently nobody was responsible for the whole mess. The only answers we got for every issue was, I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. Not a good way to run a resort.
Positives: very kid friendly resort with lots of family activities for both indoor and outdoors. Great for a variety of weather conditions.
Negatives: late check-in room was not cleaned during a 3 day stay staff appear disinterested/disengaged in providing a quality customer experience
Suggestions: stay in the main building if you have kids - it's where all of kids activities are and eliminates travelling between venues. Open kids activities earlier (rock climbing, bouncy castles) for families with early risers Main building rooms are dated and in need of updates and renovations (they do charge resort fees)
Over priced, the grounds needed some attention, the AC in our room (1-323) barely kept the room at 75, the grounds are hilly, the walk to the restaurants are uphill.the Beach is small and just like an all inclusive in the Caribbean people beach towel chairs! Water was warm with sand bottom. I wouldn't recommend or go back!
Stuck at a resort no better than a hotel. I get it. It s Covid. You can t offer all amenities. But imagine staying at a hotel with two restaurants and none can seat you and your family.
Staying two nights. The restaurant is booked every single day for every meal before we even arrived.
Get ready to book a week out (which they don t tell you) or drive into town for food for every meal.
The hotel feels empty, yet nothing is available? They say they re all booked up. Every room. I haven t seen a soul in our hallway nor heard them walking by our room.
Common areas are cold. Feels like the AC is on. And forget about a drink in the lobby. It s shut down.
The front desk was combative and not helpful. Didn t even have basic info. Started reading my welcome documents back to me.
Thanks. I can read.
Stuck here the rest of the weekend. Can only hope someone on management sees this and fixes these problems.
Had a great time last time we stayed. This time is probably the last.
The beach on the resort is beautiful and clean - and the water was already warm in June. Another benefit to staying at Deerhurst is that the golf courses are covered with the price of the room. The spa is decent, but the steam rooms need some work. There was a wedding at Deerhurst while we were there, so there were a lot of people staying at the resort, but it is big enough that we never felt crowded. Overall, it's a nice place to stay with lots of activities for families.
I played golf on the highlands and lakeside courses. The highlands was gorgeous but the lakeside needed some work. Also the signage to get to both courses needs to be improved.
Rooms were nice enough and clean. Didn't get to use the amenities due to covid. 4 stars for the hotel. 5 stars for golf course. Course was beautiful and carved out of the woods. Greens are very tough.
Attending a dance competition. Great facilities for the event. Lots of space for dancers to change, practice and perform. However, onsite food options are not the greatest.
All the employees were very helpful and tried there hardest to make our stay the very best they could for how busy it was. So many different activities on the property to do with or without kids weather was amazing and it's very nice that they have a shuttle service til midnight everynight to pick you up on the property and bring you back to your room or vice versa
The staff are friendly and helpful. The food at the Christmas buffet was all very tasty. The 1 bedroom condo we stayed in was clean and nicely supplied with dishes, cutlery etc. There are some nice entertainment features, like multiple flat screen TVs and a Bluetooth speaker. My wife and I have stayed here multiple times, and have been impressed everytime. It is pricey though.
