We have been visiting this resort probably twenty years....the last few years we had been disappointed as the resort seem to be run down and the service very poor and we were a little apprehensive about our visit....
I don't know what has changed but i am very happy to say that you can see some improvements happening and all of the staff were very happy and friendly and knowledgeable which is a welcome change and helps make the stay very pleasurable!!
Our room was clean, we visited steamers which is beyond compare and greatly enhanced our stay with the amazing meal and service we had.
We didn't get to use the rest of the amenities as our stay was one day, however we will return again for longer next time..

This is NOT a 4 or 5 star resort anymore. It is a 3 star.
I came here back in the early 2000's and was blown away. It was a class act then. Now, not so much.
I don't think they have updated anything in the main Pavilion. The furniture, carpet, pool, rooms, etc. are dated. The grounds were in terrible shape. The new facility looks great, so perhaps that is worth the money.
They also couldn't accommodate a simple breakfast request.
We stayed at the neighbouring Hidden Valley Resort last year, and enjoyed ourselves more. The price is less, so I suppose your expectations are a bit less.

Centipeds in the bathtub, silverfish on the floor in the bathroom. Popcorn ceilings, lumpy carpet floors. Cracked trim all around the ceiling. Locks on screen doors. Very poor and not updated since 1980's/1990's room. Completely not worth $220 a night.

The rooms were clean but nothing special. Activities all ended at 4 PM. Since we were there for a corporate event we could not use anything in the evening. We even had to ask them to open the bar. I would not spend my money staying here.

Honestly the place is not too bad, the reception is nice but the place is very inconsistent. Had inclement weather for the entire trip duration. Prior to booking i was told that they have fire pits running every night from 6-10pm and a boat available for rental. Turns out that they didn t have a single fire pit running. Who wants to go on an outdoors adventure to Muskoka region with no bonfire at all? that was very disappointing. Suddenly they switched to fall hours which means they only run it on weekends. To top things off, during the times it was not raining they wouldnt have kayaks or canoes available. We were told that they would be available until 6pm. first day we got there they suddenly changed it till 5 pm, the next day suddenly we cant use them after 4pm. So you end up literally staying in a hotel room watching their TV paying 400$ for two nights just to sit around and watch TV. To make things worse the activity desk which was scheduled to close at 8pm according to what i was told, was closed at least 1.5 hours earlier than they stated and you literally end up with nothing to do. Now i brought a laptop with me and was wiling to spend the boring two days sitting watching Netflix, to my surprise the wifi is literally the worst wifi i have experienced in 2019. It rarely connects and when it does, you will be buffering video for a long while. All in all the experience was pretty lame and i ended up checking out an entire day before and was not offered any compensation or refund of any sorts. It really sucks because you end up having nothing to do and no where to go. I d change this review had i had a normal experience, like at least a fire. Also worthy to note that there are no barbecues that you can use yourself and you re not allowed to bring your own. Not a good outdoors experience at all. When talking to the lady at the front desk she let me know that they had a fire going on at the front of the resort, but there are no chairs to sit around and its just a centre piece for when your first enter the resort, not a place to sit around. So i ended up literally driving 3 hours not being able to do anything or use anything useful from their facilities. Not worth paying 400$ to sit in a hotel room and watch HGTV. When checking out a day earlier I wasn t offered any compensation and there was no questions as to why I m leaving a day earlier. Very inconsistent hours of operations and it seems like every sector of the resort operates by whatever they feel they want. I wont retract this 1 star review unless i get a partial refund for my boring stay. If anyone is looking for a true outdoors experience this isn t the place to go. If they had told me the truth about the bonfire before i called and booked I wouldn t have booked in the first place.

We stayed in the new lodge. Rooms were ok, somewhat small. The beds both of them were absolutely terrible. One was hard as a rock and the other one you could feel the springs. The rooms are way too dry and hot. We had to keep the windows open for some moisture. The activities desk was a disaster. No efficiency at all. Truly a disappointment

I stayed here with my dog and while this hotel is very pet friendly I think that the room could have been cleaner. There were empty water bottles behind the furniture from the previous guests and a dirty sock right out in the open that should have been noticed by the cleaning staff had a vacuum been passed in the room. Seeing as you pay an extra $50 pet cleaning fee I don't see how much extra cleaning they do. Additionally, the addition of ashtrays outside would have avoided the unfortunate collection of cigarette butts that were collected on the pillar outside. We thoroughly enjoyed our family day weekend at Deerhurst but for the price we paid I expected the rooms to be better.

2013 March. Had a great time here. Trail ride on horseback was fantastic and a lot more fun than being pulled around would have been. Cross country ski/snowshoe rental prices were very reasonable. While snowshoeing we saw two deer not 100 yards from us. Very serene. The only restaurant open was The Eclipse, and we decided not to eat there. The main building rooms were large and the balcony overlooks the hills. At night it was quiet and peaceful. Staff was very friendly. Overall had a great mini vacation and feel like we got way more than we paid for.

Premium prices for what feels like a discount experience. Paying $200 (after all fees) per weeknight in November and .. lobby experience poor (driveway completely blocked by some trucks, some roundabout way to look for the check in, dark), after drive to to Bayshore pavilion - odd set up of the building, big room but lacking light, tiny bathroom with some bug in the bathtub, can't fill bathtub because plug won't stay sealed, no 'extras' (microwave) ..
It's hard to put a finger on any one major thing that's wrong but I'll put it this way: I heard for years that Deerhurst is a great resort so I was looking forward to nice experience, this ain't it - it feels like a rundown version, motel-level not a resort.

I come to the deerhurst often, disappointed this year as I feel taken advantage of due to covid. The petting zoo has double in price($73.82 2 adults 3 kids plus 3 pony rides literally once around)! Strange that we are in stage 3 and the ice machines are off but are they are willing to sell you a bag for $5 + tax, you can stay at local hotels and machines are on! The chip wagon..... well let you for 5 slushes 3 small fries and 2 salads came to $116.92! They need to work on their pricing this is not family friendly! Has their GM walked the grounds with eyes open!!!!! I think the men's and women's changing room are a health and safety issue! Someone needs to call the health department! The G8 summit was held here 10 yrs ago the course was number 2 in Ontario its really gone down since skyline has taken over!!! We to support the resort in this hard time... and feel that it has been nothing but a money grab!
Thanks for reading!

We paid $350 in total for one night (Bayshore 1 building). The building is old and needs updating. It smelled awful in the halls, the hallways and elevator were dirty. The window in our room was splattered with bird poop. Very basic. Not somewhere I would recommend for adult couples. More of a VERY casual family place. Disappointed.

I had the pleasure of enjoying deerhurst's wonderful Sunday brunch in their eclipse restaurant. The first thing I noticed was the look of the buffet and room itself. The buffet was laid out beautifully and the view from the dining room was stunning. From the start, the wait staff was very helpful ans accommodating. They grabbed us an extra table when we asked and they had a surprise cake for us (we were there for a birthday). The food itself was fantastic. There were more selections than I could ever hope to try, and there were unusual selections that I have not seen at many other buffets. The only issue we had was a lack of hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict. That aside, the meal was fantastic.

If you love enjoying the outdoors, Deerhurst is the place to go! Our friends told us how amazing it was for families, so we decided to go last winter. It was amazing. They had brand new snowshoes and cross country skis so you could explore their beautiful property. There was so many activities for the kids they were never bored. We thought we would try this summer. Our beach front room opened right up onto the Lake. Again, they have all the equipment on site and free to use. From stand up paddle boards, kayaks, canoes to an amazing water park on the lake, it was all right there. Thank you to Mandy Bates and the amazing staff who help make this trip one of the most memorable yet. On the way home, our kids were begging us to bring them back in the winter and summer next year. So much fun and an amazing family experience!

Not very happy for this trip. I forgot the jacket and wallet in the room after I checked out, but after one hour I realized, I called housekeeping department, they said nobody s clean your room yet, We will go to check it, and call you back. After 5mins, I got the call, they found it and will bring to the front desk. But when I go to pick the wallet the $500cash was gone. Also they didn t give me any answers.

We stayed in the condos and they were nice and clean but dated. It took us a while to figure out how to work the heat but there was a nice gas fireplace in each unit. The wifi was fast and food was good at Maple and Eclipse. I would recommend for families with small children, they had a cool looking toddler play place!

Messed up experience! I book it online and I later notice I book a small room. I called on the customer service and I rearrange the bigger room and I used my association promo code.
I originally book it one summer room with breakfast. however, when customer service replace my room they took it out my meal plan without notice.
As you know. this place is no where to go for breakfast and I asked front desk and all I heard "Sorry about that" because you've use your promo code, we had to remove it!
I was super sorry to tell my wife, we have to eat outside and I was embarrassed!!! I don't feel like to pay for cheap sausage, egg and omelet for over $50. My overall experience was NOT Happy and overpriced. and that's why people using Airbnb. BTW, front desk and never answered the phone when you need something..

Amazing activities were included with the booking ( pool , fitness room , hot tub , movie theatre, ski , ice skating etc. )
We had booked 2 bedroom condo for 2 nights
Condo had Full kitchen with Utensils
Condo also had washing machine
I m giving 1 star less because our condo didn t had lock on doors (bedroom, washroom didn t had locks) , we did call technician but he was the only one who was handling 40 rooms so he didn t had time to fix our locks.

Went for the first time during the Christmas Holidays. There were activities for everyone including my toddler and infant. They had huge bouncy castles and slides in one room and it was literally my toddlers favourite part of the whole trip. The nightly fee is worth it with all the equipment you can rent (snowshoes, skis, skates, etc). We stayed in the condos just outside the main building. It was clean and made us feel right at home. Since it was our first time here we had so many questions and the front desk, as well as the activity desk., were very helpful. In terms of places near by there is grocery shops and a little mall nearby. Arrowhead Provincial Park is also not too far away and their skating path is a must-do! We've decided to make a trip to Deerhurst an annual thing.

Save your money and don t waste it at this old, tired and expensive resort. You should get a great experience for this price like I used to get years ago.
This is now a place for kids and run by kids.
Maybe it s time for this place to be put out of its misery and start fresh.
If you stay here, lower your expectations, bring your kids at eat off the reserve where the food is edible and appropriately priced.

Very spacious and good separate living room area so mum and dad can enjoy one anothers company after the children nate in bed. Will definitely return to take in the other wintery sports.
