Kelly Pickard-Lefterys Review of Deerhurst Resort
Pros:
Pros:
-The beach and activities kept the kids entertained for hours. They loved the kayaks, paddle-boards and water-trampolines which were included with the resort fee.
-Our experience in the Maples restaurant, while expensive, was very pleasant.
-Staff at Rock Climbing wall stayed for an extra 30 mins to accommodate our kids (the front desk staff failed to tell us we needed to book a time when we called ahead to inquire about the hours of operation.)
Location is close to Toronto and easy to access
Cons:
-Waterfront staff were all teens - not well-trained or well supervised.
-At the Beach, we couldn't tell who was staff as most were not in uniform.
-The lifeguard chair was left vacant a couple of times - perhaps there was another lifeguard watching from the hut at the beach but it was hard to tell as not all guards were in the typical red outfits.
-Our room in the Bayshore building was very dated and not well cleaned. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was caked in dust and the screens were ripped.
-The fridge was the smallest I have ever seen.
-The hallway had an awful smell as staff had not cleaned up properly from a recent flood.
-At check-in we received nothing by way of resort information only to discover that it wasn't available in room. The resort channel was out do to a storm the previous day so we couldn't access it that way either.
-There is little for older kids to do in the evenings. After a day spent in the lake, the pool is not very appealing and Rock climbing closes at 6pm.
