Fabulous spa break at Mottram Hall. Excellent facilities, delicious food and room was very clean. Special thanks to Tasha and Cathy who gave us excellent spa treatments! We will be back soon!

The room was good. The food and service was excellent. Me and my husband stayed for 2 nights on 13 March which was for a valentine's treat. I would recommend the rib eye steak and the beef. The breakfast was also excellent. We played golf also, the course was in excellent condition. Only disappointment was the other facilities that were not in use and not having draught beer in the main bar..

Uncomfortable beds but a clean room, abysmal service at dinner with no mention of one of the restaurant's being closed, or the fact you were meant to reserve a table for an empty restaurant at check in (which apparently with only 4 people in it was fully booked.) Food was an hour and a half wait, even after mentioning to the waiting staff there was no appearance of the meal with one hungry 5 year old. Plenty of waiting staff, but only one person serving food. Floor of the restaurant was utterly disgusting. Had to ask for the pool lights and the female changing room to be turned on. Pool itself was dirty, with large areas of black mould, and a discarded plaster. Children's pool was also full of sand making it extremely slippy. The lack of lights and depth of jacuzzi made it dangerous to get in and out of. On the plus side staff were friendly but unattendative. Will not be staying again.

Once again many of the spa facilities were out of order, and there were bloodworms in the womens changing room showers - staff act unaware and bemused when approached. This was our second visit after being offered free day passes due to most of spa facilities being out of order on our first visit. Wouldn t visit again.

The hotel looks exceptional on the website however I found the room to be far too warm and also noisy. The cleaners could possibly do with more time also as there was a spider web on the bathroom ceiling and a very long hair on the wall next to the shower.

Food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful

This hotel was really lovely. We came for my boyfriends birthday and they left a balloon and chocolates in the room for him. The bartenders were brilliant and the reception staff were lovely. There was a wedding on but it didn't affect the other guests in the hotel which I thought was really good. Would have loved to stay longer.

Superb setting, lovely hotel with fantastic facilities and staff who couldn't be more helpful. Quality of food in the restaurant far exceeded expectations. Would strongly recommend to anyone.

I was quite disappointed after coming here for my sisters 18th birthday and waiting an hour for our sandwiches which were stale and the staff were unprofessional will probably not return

I don't know anything about the hotel. Alas, the golf course is a little gem and very well maintained. It has two *very* different nines: the front is gentle and fun to play, the back is lethal and very challenging. Good fun with some hills and beautiful views.

Lovely setting, historic building with comfortable rooms. Polite, well trained and smart Staff.
Shame pool and spa etc were closed for refurbishment.
Disappointed two starters not available at 8pm and no alternatives offered. No one appeared to be directing in the Restaurant ... no sign of a Maitre D' throughout our meal.
Tip for the bar staff: When serving Gin and Tonic, do not put pour ALL the Tonic into the Gin.

Nice and romantic place to stay on holidays. Should have car. Can't get anything near by. Country club house with golf & spa and romantic gardens. Can't get food after 7.30pm as the restaurant closes early. One day at 8.30pm, was very hungry and happened to go to bar with my colleagues to order sandwich to serve in room. Came back to room and slept. Around 12am room service was knocking the door for sandwich.
Food is quite expensive even if you managed to go early to the restaurant.

I feel upset with the service I received when I visited the spa on the 1st of August. I had planned to visit the spa for a surprise birthday present for my best friend (it was her 21st birthday). I had driven from my home in Nottingham all More

group of three ladies having a day at the spa. wonderful day, good service , excellent lunch and cleanliness and equiptment within the spa area was outstanding. I have been to other spa locally and these do not compare at all to mottram , high recommended. we went into the hotel later for drinks and again lovely atmospherte and good service.

I visited the Spa at Mottram Hall on 30th March 19 and the experience was definitely not what you expect from a 4* hotel and spa.
I had booked a group of four back in February for treatments and cream tea for a special occasion. On arrival at Mottram Hall we were told our treatments had been moved due to shortages of staff. This wouldn't have been a problem however, they had split the group of 4 into a group of 3 and 1 on their own, meaning we had to leave 1 of the group behind while the other 3 went off to enjoy a treatment. We asked at the front desk if we could change to a 2 and 2 but the receptionist wasn't interested. Anything we suggested, she wasn't interested in hearing and was more bothered about looking at her computer screen than looking up at the customer. We found the staff rude and not very welcoming. Our cream tea timing had also been changed but we did manage to delay that until later in the day and the restaurant staff were lovely.
The spa itself is okay. However, not very clean! There were leaves and dust all over the floor and also whilst swimming there were bits floating in the pool. If it had been the end of the day, we'd have understood as doors to outside were being opened throughout the day. However, this was first thing in the morning so gave the impression that they don't clean the floors or pool in the evening/morning before they open.
Overall a disappointing experience on what was meant to be a special occasion and certainly not what you expect from a 4*.

We I only stayed 20 minutes, as the heat in my friend's room was humid and highly uncomfortable. My room was very warm also, but not as bad. No air conditioning due to building protection status, which is fair enough, but alternatives should be considered when there are hot days. Windows allow no circulation as in a sun-trapped courtyard.

The very reason for leaving was that the one member of front of house was so unconcerned and lacked skills in owning the issues, offering alternatives or even apologising. We asked whether other rooms were available to move to and were told that they were 100% booked. Given the wedding party overtaking the hotel, that seemed plausible. Only when I visited reception, she was selling rooms to the wedding party and stating they were "near capacity". That is not the same as 100% full. Honesty and transparency should be at the forefront of customer complaints, not apathy, curt responses and misdirection. I went to reception to collect some fans, as reception said the concierge was busy with the wedding party. That also became my problem rather than theirs.
What a shame. Lovely estate, reasonable well furnished rooms but lacking front of house and customer care.

Wasnt as good as i expected! Though mainly good meat served for dinner was very fatty and had to wait while another was cooked. Still fatty but not quite as bad. Receptionist on spa wasnt very helpful.

The grounds were really nice when we approached. The reception staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel was lovely, clean and the room was nice. Had a great stay. The breakfast the next morning had great selection and it was very tasty.

First of all they lost my booking have to hang around reception whilst they sorted it out .When we came to check out they billed us for stuff we didn't order breakfast only really catered for meat eaters sorry but not impressed.

Great reception, staff and felt very welcomed. No air conditioning due to building being listed. It is a very pretty building, but by god did I sweat in that room with this hot weather. Breakfast was top notch, sausages must be locally sourced. They tasted amazing. Also went round the golf course, and a lovely course it is too which I couldn't fault, apart from the bloody crow that stole my bacon sandwich from the golf buggy!!!!!! Would stay again

High end prices for sub par amenities.

High end prices for sub par amenities.
I booked a spa day for me and my husband after he has had a hard couple of weeks at work. After booking I received an email with my payment receipt. This was the only correspondence I received from the spa. I rang the day after to be told I would get an email with times of our massages and dinner....this never happened and I had to call again to find out.
Upon arrival the staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful and we were shown to the changing rooms.
Our massages were very good, both mine and my husbands in the same room at the same time. It was a nice touch.
We then entered the pool area, which would appear to have been missed by the cleaners. The steam room had a horrible sludge around the bottom of the seating, the indoor jacuzzi had sand or grit all around the seats and the outdoor jacuzzi could have cooked a lobster!
There isn't enough loungers for the mass amount of people using the facilities. The idea of a spa day is to relax, not possible when you have nowhere to sit!
To make things worse there are screaming kids tear arsing around which again doesn't make this a relaxing area.
We asked where we could get a cup of tea, and we're directed to the champagne bar.......which is in the main hotel area! You feel out of place sitting with hotel guests while wearing robes and slippers.
We stayed for 3 hours until our paid for meal then left.
We will not be returning, instead we will return to Moddershall Oaks. The facilities are clean and the whole place is customer focused. I hope the new owners of mottram hall visit Moddershall, they may actually understand what a spa is all about.
Avoid Mottram at all costs, they are renovating in January 2019 so let's hope it improves!

Could be better....Team are very good Customer Care exceptional had a number problems that were dealt with at the time of stay. Though the property is getting very tired it's not the once leading great hotel of Cheshire that it use to be....hopeful under the new ownership and investment it will be soon back to what it should be

Good facilities with a nice blend of historic architecture of main bilding and modern designs of gym & spa.
Beautiful surrounding grounds.

Service levels plus food/menu choices however are extremely poor which is disappointing considering all the great things the site itself has to offer.

Waited 1hr 15min for poached eggs on toast at breakfast.
Despite asking for running eggs, they were served super hard, cold and with strong taste of vinegar.

Dinner was just Ok. Espresso coffee after din we was too big, watery and tasting old & burnt.
Maybe the low paid young crew aren t the best fit for what is to be a four star experience.

Reception and restaurant lines always busy.

Put simple; an outstanding hotel with a broken and very weak service operating set up.

A four star facility with a Travel Lodge experience.

Stayed on a couple of occasions both times with upgrades through expedia. The most recent time though room was too hot (December) overnight and no way to open windows..no air con. Also, not the fault of the hotel but an heavy footed individual was in the room above and stomped around for most of the night on the old floorboards. Always found the food to be wonderful and unique spa facilities are wonderful to explore

Must have confused this place with somewhere else when I booked it, I'd thought it was a luxury hotel and when I arrived it wasn't what I was expecting. The golf club house looked very nice but the main hall is tired and in need of some upgrade. We booked a spa package which was OK value, our room was average but acceptable, dinner was very nice, spa treatment was good but unfortunately the spa itself was undergoing renovations and mostly closed (will be nice when finished) breakfast was OK - buffet style bacon and sausage and you had to pay extra for anything else like eggs Benedict which you'd assume at 4*hotel prices would be included. Lunch which was included in our package was a bit of a joke - reminiscent of school dinners, watery tasteless soup some sweaty jacket potatoes and tuna mayo that was more mayo than tuna, wouldn't rush back.
