We stayed in the wonderful Cheshire Suite. The reception were absolutely brilliabtbabd helped with a number of queries. The venue was gorgeous, clean, and had a brilliant swimming pool and outdoor facilities, 100% well be be attending again!
The hotel spa is tired but a refurb is about to start. Massage was very good. I asked for a deep massage and actually got one.
Wonderful food, great staff and a stunning location.
I held back the 5th star because there are spots of wear and tear around the hotel, like the LEDs under the bar hanging down and ripped wallpaper also in the bar. Really let's it down. The staff are faultless and very helpful.
Our room was large with a great bed but the spa is closed for works so couldn't use it.
My only real complaint is that the ensuite loo is right against the wall and door! Why, the bathroom is a good size, how was this allowed? I can just get a finger between the loo and door edge, it's not good enough for a 4 star hotel..

Course was in excellent condition considering all the rain. Food and drinks were great, and the service was first class.
Just awful, food was pretty bad it was being taken over the w/end we were there but oh dear. disabled room???????? shower over bath toilet so low I could go on but hey might do better in future

I was there for a small family function, a celebration tea. We were given a private room. The food was excelent in quality snd vrry adequate in quantity. Service was good in style, but a little slow at tomes.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Sadly I was only there for the day at the meeting hub. Great meeting facility eurgh good refreshments.
Lunch was ok... hench the 4star. The only hot choice was chilli con carne when it was 30deg outside .. they made up for this by bringing ice lollies round in the afternoon. That was a nice touch.

I recently organised a 2 day away strategy day for our Marketing and Commercial teams. I can 100% guarantee we will not be returning, whether it is as a group or individually. At an original cost of 2.4k we were all very delighted to be attending Mottram Hall, especially s so much planning had been spent ensuring it was perfect for our group of 13 who were attending until we experienced the following:
1. On arrival no one was around to meet and greet me.
2. The meeting room was not fully prepared as was agreed and I had to personally tidy it myself. The glasses left out were sticky and had fingerprints on them all.
3. There was 3 jugs of juice which were on the table which had been left over night to be served to us
4. The lounge where tea and coffee is served was disgusting as the drinks machines hadn't been cleaned, the surface hadn't been cleaned and there was only 4 cups left and these were all dirty too.
5. There were no biscuits or pastries out as mentioned when arranging the away day.
6. When I finally found someone to help me I explained the situation and their rude response was 'We are having staffing issues so no one cleaned it last night'. No apology, just ignorance.
7. Breakfast was meant to be served at 8:30am but no one had bothered until we complained. We received this at 8:50 and even then the dietary requirements were not met as vegetarians and allergies were not catered for until highlighted.
8. After an employee who apologized and tried to sort things for us I politely asked that all the rooms would be ready and there wee no more issues but unsurprisingly one of the rooms were not ready at 3:40 in the afternoon.
9. After an awful sleep due to the rooms not having air con and being extremely hot (some because the radiators were on) the staff at the reception asked about all of our experience. After many of the guest explained their lack of sleep due to their room temperature and noises they dismissed the comments and rudely asked how the rest of their stay was.
10. Dinner for the second day was arranged for 12:00 and at 12:10 we were still waiting for food to be served. Eventually the lady who helped the previous day saw this and told the staff to get the food ready. At no surprise, the food was not as was arranged when booking the venue.
Although we received a discount from our bill we still feel we should not have paid what we did for the service that was provided. Nothing was as it was arranged, the staff were rude and the service levels were not that of a 4 star hotel. I can safely say we will not be returning to Mottram and I strongly advise you reconsider booking this venue.
I hope this review helps others before they have to go through with the stress I experienced during my time at Mottram Hall.

Very nice hotel. The staff was polite and helpful. Just stayed one night for a company do. From what I could tell the room vary widely in size. Its a huge hotel with beautiful grounds.

Spa and pool and golf club bar are excellent. Staff in reception, bars and restaurant are not the best. Room was very clean, just a shame it wasn't ready until 15:40

Beautiful venue, the hotel is showing its age a little - could do with a freshen up / refurb.
My wife and I stayed over last night and it was fantastic the service provided was top level. All of the staff who served us and looked after us were amazing (Katy J, Paul, Dale, Edward, Radek, Ewa, Georgia and Kirsty)
We stayed over for one night and a spa break the following day. The food we had was delicious and presented really well.
Finally the spa was amazing looks really good with the new refurbished I mostly enjoyed the hydro pool that was lovely and warm with the jets on my back could have sat there all day.
To conclude I will be returning to the hotel and spa very soon it's been a great experience and I was fully able to switch off (which for me is hard to do). The hotel is fully covid safe and secure to a very high standard.

Room was dirty. Bathroom had mould on shower screen. Hairs in bath. Cushions on bed smelled terrible. Breakfast was a average, had better at a lower price ed but equal hotel. The 2 stars are for the staff not enough to stop huge queues but the staff on duty tried their damned hardest. Would I stay again by choice, probably not!!!!

Had a nice day at the spa. It was very modern and clean. We got a lounger each but as it got busier people were not able to find free ones. Hot tub was nice but would have been better if drinks were availble while in there. Would definitely go back.
Our stay here was absolutely wonderful, from the very well appointed room with stunning views across Mottram s grounds to each and every member of staff who were very attentive and welcoming. The spa was a welcome treat with some unique facilities and great massages. I m looking forward to going back soon!
As my husband is disabled there were a few things that didn't tick our boxes. The bed was to low, there was no suitcase rack or drawers, in the room. We could hang things in a wardrobe but other clothes had to stay in the suitcase on the floor. Lastly as the bedroom was in an annex, to get to the main part of the hotel we had to go outside, fortunately it wasn't raining.
Mottram Hall provided a very hit and miss experience, making a star rating really tough. The hotel itself is situated in expansive grounds that encompass a golf course, so parking at peak times is at a premium. Once parked and checked in, the building itself is like a huge maze - not once did I take the same route to my room! The room itself was compact, a little too small as the chair for the desk butted up against the foot of the bed. The walls between rooms was also wafer thin. However, the attentive service from the staff, a very pleasant dinner and impressive breakfast buffet, and a well stocked and serviced bar made up for some of the other shortcomings. Whether it's ultimately good value friends on the rate you pay, and I can imagine some being unhappy. However, our tab was quite low, certainly no more than a Hilton or Holiday Inn, making it a (just about) pleasing experience.
Lovely place and amazing grounds. Very popular with golfers. Drinks and food on the expensive side, but that is usual for this type of venue. Wedding room was dressed up beautifully.
Good place to stay - better than other options in the area. Walls paper thin so bring ear plugs. But nice spa, pool, and amazing gym for a hotel.
Attended for a wedding and had a great stay, the staff couldn't do enough for us, as a wedding guest and for our overnight stay. The rooms were lovely and the beds really comfortable. Grounds are beautiful and the spa lovely too.
A pleasant hotel with nice, well looked after rooms, friendly staff and nice views. The breakfast is good, the bar spacious and well stocked, and the restaurant is great. Will stay again.
Unfortunately my visit coincided with refurbishment work so the pool and spa were closed as was the bistro (main restaurant was open). I had to get a heater for my room as the window was so draughty and cold. Staff were very friendly and helpful however.
Will return once its back to full capacity!

Nice hotel, in lovely grounds, great if you're a golfer. Rooms could do with air con however, they get very warm especially in the summer months, there is a fan psychoses but it can only do so much.

The front nine is fairly straight up and down but the back nine is very testing. The Greens are as good as you can get.
Beautiful setting for a Surprise Birthday Afternoon Tea . James ( our Server ) was very attentive but apologised for the lack of Coffee !! (Apparently the machine hadn't been switched back on this morning!!?)
The presentation was wonderful, dainty cakes and sandwiches were delightful as were the two freshly made scones , served with scrummy strawberry jam and cream.
All in all a lovely way to celebrate my birthday.
( Have to give a big thumbs up for the Hotel's policy on Social distancing and the fact that all Staff that we saw were wearing face masks and the availability of hand sanitizers was very evident)
A great country house hotel for a relaxing weekend.
Can't give 5 stars. I recently attended a corporate event, everything was exceptional apart from the room which was very old and tired. Therefore, I wouldn't consider staying here for leisure.
We booked thru secret escapes and its the first time when we are a bit disappointed.
When we arrive at the reception it was a lady with 0 customer service skills(probably she was new or in training) till her colleague came to help her she couldn't even understand my name on spelling.
We checked in and they gave us room 264.When we got to the room ,the wind it was hauling thru our window.the window was so old and needs fixing.Because of the window the room was chill as well.
Being a 5 star hotel we was expecting our spa robes and flip flops to be in the room,here not.You have to go all the way to spa to pick them up and to come back in the room to change or you can go and get changed there.
Dinner was the good part of our staying. Nice Ribeye steak with very nice creme brulee at the end.
In the morning breakfast was worst the average.
All the juices you could see thru them,no taste no nothing.
Coffee on the table worst then kenko sticks.
Hot buffet ,the fried eggs looked like they have been there for ages,overcooked sausages and warm mushrooms.

The only good service we had was the waitress who served us the dinner and the spa receptionists.

Hotel was ok apart from a few niggles eg waiting almost an hour for my sweet order to be taken and then served, a loud fan keeping me awake until 12 ISH. Also had noisy people in the room next door but that's not the hotels fault.
The golf course was very dry (ok we've had no rain for a couple of weeks). The greens hadn't been watered, the tee boxes had virtually no grass and were both rock hard. Not a patch on our local course and costs a lot more to play!!
Such a beautiful hotel and spa. Would definitely recommend staying here.
We stayed in 2 rooms, due to there being 5 of us which had interconnecting doors between them, this meant we could all stay together. The rooms themselves are extremely high standard! The only downside is that the beds themselves are still a little too hard, which the hotel and tried to fix with mattress toppers.
The spa is amazing, with the use of many steam and sauna rooms! We went for 1 night during the week which meant there were are 10 other people there, which was great.
We used the spa all day prior to checking in and used it before checking out!
The staff were very friendly and helpful and We would definitely stay here again ourselves.
Good rooms, not tired like Shrigley is. Staff want to work here which makes all the difference!

Lovely hotel. Understaffed!!!!! There is more I could say but what is the point. Very disappointing visit. The staff are nice but not enough to cope with the clients that stay. The hotel was not to full capacity. The pressure the staff were under did not allow the guests to have a pleasant experience. Will not recommend
Great location and beautiful from the outside, but very overpriced for what you get. There was no safe and no fridge in our room, the room was very basic. We were also not provided with any body wash in our bathroom. The fire alarms went off at 2 am and there was no staff to be seen who could direct us of where to go/what to do.
Pleasant staff. Room was clean. Food was nice. Conference facilities highly recommended.
