Great food, nice people with reasonable pricing. One of those you can t go wrong brunch places. Baja Benedict was excellent, and the waitress made me a Nutella pancake upon request (lots of Nutella too)

Ordered a bowl if tomato basil soup to go. Was looking into the cup, only 3/4 full with cold cheese dumped on top. Showed a waitress and got a "yeah? That's the way it comes". Never again....
We stopped in at my Sister's suggestion after volunteering for the Color Run. A small line was forming at the door, nonetheless we were greeted promptly and with a smile. The cozy, breakfast-focused restaurant has a homey feel and a menu with standard offerings (omelets, french toast, pancakes, eggs dishes, etc.) and signature dishes (Ultimate Breakfast Burrito, Baja or Crab Cake Benedict, Monte Cristo, Shrimp & Grits, etc.). The waffles and french toast come in a variety of flavors and can be customized with toppings to your liking. Pillowy biscuits are topped by a flavorful and creamy sausage gravy creating an unforgettable biscuits and gravy.
The lunch menu adds a host of soups, salads and sandwiches. Note, for those with restricted diets they have gluten free, vegetarian and vegan dishes. To add, for those non-pork eaters, turkey sausage and bacon are on menu. Pls like if this was helpful.
Really tasty! But also, around the table there was some uneven quality in food prep: potatoes that taste almost uncooked, less chorizo than expected, over-cooked poached eggs, etc. Yes, they were busy, but it's not an excuse.
No pictures, but had the steak and eggs and they were fantastic. Steak was cooked to order and a perfect portion for breakfast. The eggs were prepared over easy to have a slight runny-ness to accompany the steak. Served with diced breakfast potatoes that were slightly underdone but well seasoned. The coffee was very good and had really good flavor. Overall a good experience for a nice Friday morning breakfast with friends. Go enjoy some Highland Morning on a nice morning.
So let me explexplain my reason for giving 2 stars but first I must add that our server was EXCELLENT she was very friendly patient and efficient and the pancake was huge and tasty but my pet peeve is that my grits were cold and so were the eggs The restaurant is very small and the wait was long despite our group having made a reservation I think they forgot to call us when a table was available but once we went in and spoke to them about 45 minutes later we were seted immediately One of my friends got the waffles and was very impressed with them
Amazing breakfast!!! I had the biscuits and gravy, my partner had the wake me up omelet. Both were fantastic. Good size portions and the atmosphere was excellent. Our server Tyler was very friendly and accommodating. We'll be back for sure.
I wish it were possible to leave .5 stars because I'd give it 4.5! Great place for brunch. Service was great! I ordered the New Orleans french toast and a Bloody Mary. Both were fantastic! Not 5 stars because I personally found the aresthetics a bit lacking. But this is the newer location. Besides, I'd rather the food be great with a less cozy atmosphere than the other way around. Check it out!
All the food was cold and the sausage tasted terrible and looked like it was something frozen and then microwaved. I would not recommend this place to anyone
Can't say I was overly impressed with this small little place, but it was not terrible either. Came on a weekday morning and crowds were light. Eggs Benedicts did not meet up with the quality of others we've had and the side of skillet potatoes was just about raw. Staff was friendly enough. I'll not go out of my way to return though,
$9.99 for a small bowl of grits with 4 medium sized shrimp. Coffee $2.79. Two pancakes $8.99. My husband didn t like his banana pancakes. Not worth the value. Staff was decent.
If you're looking for a good brunch spot I would definitely recommend highland morning. Orange juice is fresh, everything I have had was fantastic. my favorite was the Baja Benedict. I'm a sucker for hollandaise.
Best breakfast I've had in a long time. I wasn't sure whatnot wanted, so I let my waitress pick. She got the kitchen to make half orders of each entree for me!
Tried to come eat based on reviews...waited until 8:10AM on 4/19 before leaving for a new destination due to the restaurant not being open yet. Pretty disappointing.
Highlands morning is the place I have a great breakfast in the morning because great food and Awesome everything all around0 that's why we give them five stars all around everything they treat us with respect and awesome
"Best Breakfast"?? Uhhm, no. Seriously, seriously disappointing. We chose to stop here on our way through Louisville because of the high ratings it has been given. I cannot seriously imagine who thinks this place is even marginally good, not the great or outstanding its touted as being. This has nothing to do with Covid--it's terrible all on its own.
We were there on a Saturday morning at 11 and it was crowded. Let's begin with the surly staff. The hostess seemed seriously put off when I chose not to sit outside on the sidewalk, right next to a dude who was smoking a foot from the table. Instead, we waited 20 minutes for an inside table, which was our mistake. We should have taken it as a sign and just kept going.
However, we wanted to give it a try since everyone seems to love the place, so we went for the classic breakfast with grits. Let's start by saying that the coffee was disgusting, and for $2.75, I expected something better than gas station quality. It wasn't. Breakfast came in a pretty timely manner, and the eggs were cooked okay for over easy. The grits were fine, once we actually seasoned them with salt since they had none in them. But, the sausage patties were like hockey pucks, and the English muffin wasn't even toasted. They give you margarine in a Solo container--not even real butter--which I would have expected from a place with such high ratings.
My husband didn't want grits, so he ordered skillet potatoes and paid extra for them. They came out raw and crunchy! When we asked the server to have them re-fired, she said, "Well, we don't have a fryer" as if that's what we wanted. No, you don't fry skillet potatoes, but they should be better than RAW. She said it would take 20 minutes to recook them. So my husband had the grits instead, unhappily.
We also ordered one buttermilk pancake, which was really the best part of the meal at Greek Diner quality. The total bill was $29 which seems pretty pricey for food that rivaled a Bob Evans.
Do yourself a favor and take a big hard pass at this place, it's not worth it and I don't see this as just being a bad day on their part. Clearly this place is checked out and I don't know when any positive reviews were written but it's one of the worst breakfasts we've had in a long time.
This is my families go to place every Saturday morning! Usually a wait but it's worth it. Love the tight knit atmosphere and the food is great!! Always get your money's worth. Their Baja Florentine is great and love their mimosas!!
Ordered French toast with bananas and strawberries, the fruit was discolored, slimy, and included very little for the extra 1.00 they charge.
I politely asked for more because the fruit looked sad and set the discarded pieces aside. I was double billed for the gross fruit and the second side of fruit, just not an outstanding experience. Paid a lot for a pretty mediocre dish.
Let me start off by saying that I LOVE this place. Hands down the best biscuits and gravy I've ever eaten. No joke. Other dishes are also really tasty. Why I can't give them five stars is because their food has a tendency to be fairly inconsistent. I've been here about 10 times and while sometimes the food is outstanding, other times portions are small or undercooked. Their specialty grits have always been letdown, too. Everything is usually really tasty however and I still recommend it.
Great restaurant, nice ambiance, and good food. A bit crowded and little space between tables but the service and food make up for it. Reasonably priced.
My first time eating here and I was totally pleased. I ordered one traditional breakfast item, biscuits and gravy which was a meaty savory dish. However, my other choice was taking a chance on something new, the key lime pancake. OMG! I was a bit hesitant until our wait staff swore by it. It was more than amazing!!! I'll be back!
How to accurately describe the biscuits and gravy here will leaving me wanting for words. This was our first visit and we always try the b&g as like an appetizer at arent place new we for breakfast. There are not enough words in any language to actually describe how amazing they are. Just go try them you won't be sorry. We also had the crab cakes Benedict, super great cakes eggsceptional eggs and perfect hollandaise sauce. The hubs had the b&g omlet he couldn't stop eating the gravy! Everything was superb. If you go on a weekend expect a wait but it is so worth it. The staff was busy but attentive and friendly. You will not be disappointed!
I've been here a few times now, and every time I go it is always delicious. The restaurant is a little crowded, but I can deal with that. The food is wonderful. I'd recommend ANY of the waffles. I haven't been disappointed so far!
Wonderful food, great service, local place!.Their new menu items , the Not Hot Brown is soooooo. good..Breakfast and lunch place, and they serve alcohol also!
The breakfast here was so tasty we went a second time while visiting Kentucky. Wife and I shared the the Farmer's omelette and the "Lemon Lover's Dream cakes" and enjoyed every bite. We went back for the "Dreamsicle pancakes" and equally enjoyed them as well. Highly recommend going just for those pancakes!
The menu looks interesting, and I would have really liked to try something on it. I went there this morning and after being told I could sit any where I was completely ignored by the staff. I tried to get their attention, but no such luck. After watching two tables that got seated after me receive drinks i was never afforded the opportunity to order, I left and went to Day's Coffee for a pecan roll and a pot of tea. As this is the second time I have received horrendous service at this restaurant, I will not be visiting it again or recommending it to anyone!
Highland Morning offers some of the best breakfast/brunch food around! Their menu combines contemporary dishes and old-school staples... anyone can find something here to love! The portions are generous; it is difficult not to leave stuffed. I can't speak to the lunch offerings, but I am sure they are great as well. The breakfast items are just too yummy to pass up! Just make sure to check their hours before you go, as they usually close mid- or late afternoon. The seating is fairly close to others dining, without much room to maneuver between tables. Everyone is so friendly and the food is so delicious, you probably won't even notice once they set down your plate!
Food here is very good, and the service is fine. The only suggestions I have for them is to find a way to cut down on noise, as it gets very loud when only moderately busy, and to increase portion sizes.
Cozy place and friendly staff with a wide selection. But the kitchen botched 3 out of 5 of the items - including serving uncooked pork sausage in two gravy dishes. Amateur mistake that could be very unfortunate. Won't be returning on our next visit to the area.
Although it's an hour's drive for me I find myself coming back to Highland Morning quite often. I have never had a bad experience and they have the best brunch hands down. I think I may be addicted to their Not Brown. I have enjoyed several of their items but always find myself thinking about that plate of deliciousness. Parking can be a struggle and you might have to wait a bit, but be warned, it is worth it.
I moved to Louisville 8 months ago and this is the best breakfast I've had so far. Even the coffee is phenomenal. Not only is it worth a second visit, its worth going regularly.
