The breakfast that I've had here has been very good. Unfortunately, the place is small and gets busy on weekend mornings, so waiting for a table is typical. They also have removed some fantastic offerings, such as the Foster Your Waffles; I was told this was because they no longer had a liquor license, though that explanation seems suspect. The Lemon Pancakes and Tower of Waffles are both good and available last time I was there. Eating at the bar is a bit awkward, especially if they stick you in the corner.

To say Highland Morning is the platonic ideal of breakfast spots is to discredit their originality. Service is supreme, coffee is warm and rich, food is played swiftly and artfully. But beyond the classic breakfast options - which of course come out spectualarly - their menu features a number of dishes just different enough to catch your eye, like their Baja benedict. Comfort breakfast food at its finest.

I have nothing but good things to say about Highland Morning. The service is great! The food is great! The prices are reasonable. A great place to eat if you re looking for a non chain restaurant.

The food was tasty! But they put us by an area of the restaurant where they we're running in and out of a door. And because it was busy it took a while for them to get us a table and for us to get our food because they're restaurant is small. But other than that it wasn't a bad expericence.

Just had my first experience at Highland Morning. The wait staff was very friendly and I was seated right away, lucky enough to have a table leaving as soon as i arrives. Ordered the Baja Benedict with my eggs over easy. It was excellent! The food was the perfect temperature and looked as good as it tasted. The price was reasonable. There are so many other things that I saw coming out of the kitchen for other people that I can't wait to go back and try something else!

I went in to place a to-go order, I walked to the bar and was ignored by two of the servers so I finally asked if I could place a to-go order. One of those servers ended up stuffing her face with pancakes directly behind the bar where I was sitting and was very rude when I inquired about said pancakes as I had never been there before. One girl was very nice and gave me water to drink while I waited and she also took my order. However, when I asked if she would get the tip she said she would not as she was only the busser that day. Maybe it's because I'm in the service industry, but if the only person who gave me decent service doesn't get the tip then I'm not going to leave it, especially when I'm encountered by such incredibly rude customer service. The pancakes were not good, and then later when I'm balancing my checkbook I realize a tip has been added to my credit card, so in addition to being rude and not tasty, they're thieves in a way. Never going back.

Inform your waitstaff and cooks: Over medium: The egg is flipped and the yolk is only slightly runny.

Kind of dirty atmosphere. The coffee mug looked like it had been chewed on. Waitress argued with me about what "over medium" meant. I didn't eat the meal, but it really didn't look that appetizing anyway.

Sunny side up: The egg is fried with the yolk up and is not flipped. Over easy: The egg is flipped and the yolk is still runny. Over medium: The egg is flipped and the yolk is only slightly runny. Over well: The egg is flipped and the yolk is cooked hard.

food is pretty good. not the best or worst. service is okay if you are early, but gets hectic as the place fills up. coffee isn't that great, I'm guessing John conti. it's convenient, so I'll be back at some point, but not a favored spot.

The gravy and biscuits here receive my highest rating of 1 million stars across all categories. A true quality product in flavor, texture, mouth feel, absorbance balance, biscuit bottom texture, gravy consistency/richness/flavor, and quality/amount of sausage in the gravy. Unmatched anywhere and I eat biscuits and gravy everywhere I go. Again, one million stars awarded.

The restaurant has a solid breakfast lineup with a variety in both savory and sweet foods. The biscuits and gravy was probably the best I've had in the city of Louisville.

The only knock is it has the ambiance of a diner or faster food kind of breakfast but it's more of a sit down, slow breakfast.

Visited on a VERY busy holiday morning. I was so so impressed with how quickly we were served after being seated and the efficiency of the staff in general. The food definitely did not suffer from the business either! Atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but I would say it is well worth a visit for some excellent breakfast eats and wonderful service. Try the Monte Cristo if you're into savory/sweet. It was so good.
