Nice open air restaurant good food service was a bit slow but lovely nice people we saw turtles on the beach outside Brennecke's

Consistently good food and drinks. A definite must on the South Shore.

Man, not sure I get the high ratings and appeal of this place. The food was literally tasteless and that's kind of hard to do. You almost have to go out of your way to do that. My wife got the fish tacos and they were dry and tasteless. My fish sandwich was ok, but tasted more like a burger. I guess they serve so many burgers that the bun and fish appropriate the taste from the grill. The fries were bag fries and just ok.

This place is a straight up tourist trap and they don't even deserve the description because it's simply not good enough. If the food was good I could justify it. Then the bill like $90 for two people with only one cocktail.

If I could go back in time I would stop myself from going here.

Visited Brenneke's on the advice of a friend who had vacationed in Kaua'i before us and it didn't disappoint. Located on the second floor of a building across the street from Poipu beach, it has great views and a lovely open air feel. The walls are decorated with framed sports team t-shirts, so there is definitely a bit of a sports bar atmosphere as well.

We were travelling with my 1 year old grandson and when they brought a high chair, they also brought an AWESOME toy that attached to the table to keep him entertained during our meal. It is thoughtful little extras like that which bring people back. (In our case, it did. We visited for lunch a second time during our 5 day trip)

I had the ahi poke bowl on my first visit, and a grilled ahi sandwich on my second. Both meals were fresh, tasty and well portioned. My daughter ordered the battered fish and chips, which she proclaimed were the best she ever had. The batter was fluffy and crisp, without being overly greasy. She liked it so much, she ordered the same on our second visit.

The servers were friendly and attentive and we just really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. We will be back to Kaua'i in the future and another visit to Brennecke's will be on the itinerary for sure.

Super impressed with the speed and deliciousness of this restaurant. We live on Oahu and this was one of the fastest serving places in all of Hawaii and the food was awesome. We loved the crispy waffle fries too!

Best service and Mai Tai was amazing. Ahi tacos cant be beat.

On the last day of our visit to Poipu, we decided to have lunch at Brennecke's Beachfront Restaurant. We loved it. The restaurant was almost full but we were seated in a few minutes. Even with the crowd, we thought the service was very good. We had Ahi Tuna, some other delicious dishes and excellent mai tais. The owner/manager came to our table to personally ask if everything was as expected. Yes, it was. A great view of the beach/ocean and excellent food. This will be one of our regular stops when in Poipu.

Seriously one of my most favorite places in Hawaii. Fabulous service. Amazing food. Decently priced. Best laid back atmosphere. Will be returning when I can :)

Excellent food with gluten free options marked on the menu. The views are great and a nice breeze flows through on hot days.

Had the nachos with pork. There was no where close to a fair serving of pork and about half of it was pure fat. We had to ask for more chips because there was so much cheese the nachos had no crunch and were soggy. My husband and I had an upset stomach after from it. The fish tacos are bad. The flavours of the toppings did not go together. They were just weird. Lots of cheese too which didn't go with the ahi. Tasted fishy. The drinks are strong and we sat at the bar. Had one margarita and a beer. The bar tender was our server and really was working her butt off. Really great service. She didn't charge us for the extra chips either which was nice. Would not go back because of the food.

Fabulous food in a beautiful setting with terrific weather and local seafood on the menu. Gosh, how could it get any better than this?

Great view and very helpful service with very good vegetarian options. I have some food allergies and they had no problem with that. They just prepared a delicious variant of one of their vegetarian dishes. Once I didn't have to feel too bad about going out to dinner with my allergies. Thank you very much!

Good food and good beer selection. Awesome views of the water! Conveniently located for a mid beach day lunch. The coconut shrimp and poke bowl were really tasty. Stop in here for lunch and head to the beach after! Save room for shaved ice on the first floor of the restaurant!

When you think of island vacation and eating near the beach then this sums it up! Hands down my favorite restaurant on the island. It meets all my desires for beach theme restaurants. The upstairs dining is crucial to getting the fresh air that swoops over the ocean before hitting your face. The open window (screens if needed) makes the beach feel that much closer. Anyway, I love the theme and location of the restaurant.

The employees are nice and help create the upbeat positive vibe. Keep up the great work team! Never forget your smiles and attitudes are key to a successful business. Your hustle and bustle is always appreciated.

I also did some online research of the owners and the restaurant. They have came a long way after three decades. From renting to owning the space, hurricanes, and expansion of the building; they have devoted serious time into their business. I love to know the making of a successful business.

Now, to the real deal. Good quality food is a must. Brennecke's has a simple menu, including a few vegan and GF options. The idea of having a simple menu allows for cooks to focus in on perfecting the dishes. Not overly complicated meals. Everyone can find a familiar dish with superior flavor. I'm a sweet tooth kind of gal and dessert was a home run.

Fun 2nd story restaurant overlooking the beach. Great drinks and food to enjoy while ocean breezes waft thru the open windows.

Thursday special, Prime Rib Surf & Turf with Scallops was delicious

This restaurant gets a 5 on location, 3 on food. The view is spectacular from almost anywhere in the restaurant, direct line sight to the beach and sunset. The food is your typical bar food, plus some beach favorites. We had the coconut shrimp and fish tacos. The coconut shrimp was good, but not better than you'd get anywhere else. The world famous Mai Tai was actually impressive, not too sweet, not too strong. Go here if you're already at Poipu beach and too hungry or tired to drive elsewhere for dinner.

Spectacular location and great vibe but terrible food. I keep giving them another chance and I keep regretting it. Even their drinks are filled with low quality ingredients.

No wheelchair access. Restaurant is on second floor. We came after lunch but before dinner time; there was no wait for a table. The place felt overstaffed for about 25% full. Seated quickly and friendly staff. I got the Lava Lava Flow and my wife ordered the Original Brown Nipple with Banana. Both were very good but my pineapple slice tasted mostly like core. She orderd the Fish and Chips, and I, the Fresh Hawaiian Ahi Sandwhich. Her fish was very good; flaky and nicely done batter. My Ahi was far too over done. It was even stated it would be medium rare, and they reminded me this as well. It came back well done. I was dissapointed by it. I was hungry and it still tasted fine; but was a waste of what it should have been.

Great view, fun college football decor, and friendly, attentive service. The food tasted fine and I recommend others come and try this place (I d come back), but just a couple of things that kept this from being a 4star review. Ahi salad; I wish my ahi would have come nicely sliced and the greens cut down into manageable pieces. Visibly, it was an ahi steak lost in a sea of greens. A little extra prep would have made it look better and made it easier to eat. Taste was good tho. The hamburger; we ordered it medium, but it came out medium rare.

Got to get the shave ice with ice cream from the deli.

Waitress was great but the food was not very good. They opened bag of chips and a bottle of salsa served us and charged a lot for it.

I was unimpressed with the pupu platter and the burger was heavy-handed with the sauce but actual meat had no flavor. Way overpriced, but what can you expect from a tourist area?

Nice family friendly restaurant/bar on the second floor overlooking Brennecke's Beach. Even inside tables have a view because of the slightly raised floor. We had excellent fish chips (not as easy as it sounds) and wine. Excellent friendly prompt service.. And the food arrived promptly, as it did at adjacent tables also. Hawaiian music was playing over the sound system.

Atmosphere was good, service was amazing, food was so so. We ordered the nachos and asked to put the sour cream on the side and the server did that, but the second nachos we ordered the same as the first and it came with the sour cream on it, so they got that order wrong. The other thing with the nachos is that there's not enough meat you have to get to the bottom of it to find all the meat and beans. Other than that everything was good, well needed since this whole pandemic.

Very fun restaurant! Great location along Poipu Beach, too. Just an all-around fun restaurant to go to. I had the burger with pulled pork, as well as the soup of the day (beef stew), and it was all so tasty -- and more than worth the reasonable price tag.

Got a table super fast despite it being busy. Food was good: the mahi mahi was wonderful but the scallops were overcooked. The creme brulee and ice cream pie were also mediocre. But they have live music on Friday and a great beach view, so not a bad place to grab a drink and bite after an afternoon of swimming and sunbathing.

Great ocean views. Local vibe .mai tai can be skipped. Not the best, not the worst. Poke bowl was great flavor and good mix. Burger was to temp and juicy. Parking can be tight.

Kuaui X2 - 1st with family, then just the two of us. Both times we were regulars at this fun spot with gorgeous beach views & the GOAT Pina Coladas The friendly bartender's secret is Dole Whip & copious amounts of rum. My husband, who is not a big drinker (more for me) ordered them by the pitcher! The food is great and so is the service. I'm JONESING during COVID.

The service was terrible. The hamburger dry and tasteless. The view was beautiful.

We had a reservation and were seated right on time. Service was quick, the server was nice. Food was good, just not the best I ve had, but no real complaints. Sitting next to the window and watching the waves is well worth any short falls. We d go back for sure.

Extremely touristy and average food. The fish and chips came highly recommended but they were probably some of the worst I've ever had. The fish had a steak-like consistency and looked over-done (very dark brown) and the slaw served alongside it was oddly sweet. Luckily I subbed in the waffle fries, which were absolutely delicious. The drink selection was interesting and large, but they didn't really pack a punch at all. The views were also so-so for catching the sunset.

The owner of this place knows how to run a restaurant. His son in law manages and always does a great job. Great place and atmosphere.

Just asked for water and ice after drinking after paying for beer there. Treated like a criminal, horrible experience for an executive and dad. Son of owner trying to take control of restaurant and failing. Sad.

Maybe not the fanciest restaurant on Poipu Beach (come as you are - typically shorts and tshirt to local wear is perfect) but their food can't be beat. Reasonably priced for what you get and what you get is great food, great service and a fantastic view of Poipu Beach. The restaurant is on the second floor and there's a small gift shop on the first floor. This is a must stop for anyone vacationing or for locals. Great place overlooking beach ! Prompt friendly service. Great margaritas and absolutely the best ahi fish tacos. The fish and chips weren't too shabby either! We will be back soon and highly recommend.

Long awaited five star review! Brennecke's catered my rehearsal dinner. The staff, food, customer service and price point were absolutely amazing. I am so thankful to have found such an awesome restaurant. The food was the best we had while on the island and they made my rehearsal dinner a dream come true!!! We will be back when we are back in Kauai!

Really did like this little restaurant. Service could be a little slow, but the food and drinks made up for it. A good mix of local types and basic American food to cater to both locals and tourist types.

So super yummy! Amazing views! We made a reservation and requested to be by a window and got a wonderful seat because of it. The drinks are great and the food was spectacular. Also there's a little gift shop on the ground floor where we got some souvenirs!
