Nice beach view and tasty food. The mai tais were great! Definitely worth checking out for a meal before or after the beach.
The only reason this review has more than one star is due to the customer service. Our party of 6 each ordered various appetizers and drinks. The service was fast and server was great. However the food was bland and I feel like a microwave dinner would have been better. The nachos in particular had soggy chips and inadequate toppings. Not sure how this place had more than 4 stars.
Great fish tacos! Perfect service. Very kind employees! Nice view to the beach.
Fish batter too crisp. Fish a bit overdone. Fish tacos ok, but soggy slaw... had to send second taco back to get it remade. Black beans had NO flavor.
Cocktails at sunset ! An experience that can't be bettered. A 'must do' if visiting the island of Kauai.
Fantastic place to eat. Aloha people. All around great service.
Great food, location and staff. The view is magnificent. Been here several times and never disappoints. The Fish and Chips are the best!!
Great service and food. Comfortable atmosphere. The coconut shrimp was awesome!
This was one of our favorite places on the island. It's so convenient to Poipu beach and is a good place to relax after a day at Poipu beach. They highly recommend reservations and I'd agree. The food was good, and overall a very good experience. We had a bit of fried fare and the ahi tacos. We'd definitely recommend the ahi tacos and the coconut shrimp. The views are amazing and the staff are amazing.
Arrived early for our 5:30 reservation and hearing it explained that the tables in the bar were available to those without reservations as long as they put their name on the list. At least 3 parties were seated in the bar as we waited for our table. When they came to seat us, he took us to a table in the middle of the bar. He did not ask if this was ok just dropped off the menus. There were several tables open up in the dining room but none were offered to us. We decided this was not the dining experience we have had here in the past and Brennecke's has lost our business.
It was okay, my son had the fish and chips those were good. The fish tacos looked delicious ! I had the fish sandwich I wouldn't order it again.
We arrived at happy hour to take advantage of the pitcher of margarita for $20. The food was good enough, but the margarita was weak, probably not more than a 3-4 of tequila in the pitcher, and we were treated rather rudely by the waiter, who reminded us after only being there an hour that there were people with reservations, implying we should leave. I would have understood if it weren't for the 6+ empty tables. We'd intended on staying to order dinner, but after this, we decided to leave. Also, the Wifi didn't work.
This was a fun first meal on the island. There is a good selection and the food is good and well priced. We especially enjoyed our waiter who made us feel at home.
The atmosphere was great, drinks and food was good
First rate bar food, great ambiance, spectacular view, very chill. Nothing not to like
It is across the road from a sheltered lagoon, so safe bathing. Visited the beach this year and was lucky to see a turtle hauled out of the water and onto the beach. Although I didn't drink here this year I have had a very enjoyable evening in the bar, with friends. The bar staff were very friendly and attentive. Like most places in Hawaii drinks are not cheap as they cater for Americans who splash the cash on the few days that they are on the islands. Unlike us Brits that spend two or three weeks there and have to count the pennies.
We stopped at the deli for sandwiches for our day of travels. Nothing special but it did the trick.
Nice food, good beers and really friendly attentive service. Maybe a bit pricey but that's probably due to the proximity of some fairly flash resorts
Amazing location and view of Poipu Beach. Went here to have a Puka Dog since they moved from the Poipu Shopping Village. Puka Dog is so good, but the shave ice across the deli was just okay. Uncle's is way better.
So good! Happy hour is good still pretty pricey but you are on he beach in Kauai. Also near a great place to snorkel which is a plus. Like a very good place to snorkel trust me on this one!
Great service, no wait time, and food was fantastic. Can't go wrong with any selection.
The food was excellent and the staff was super helpful. Had the surf and turf loved it.
Great food
Try the coconut shrimp. Great views!
Best fish and chips ive ever eaten!! Fish melts in your mouth. Drinks were delish .. service was great.. fun, upbeat atmoshere.. loved the music playing.
Poke bowl was delicious! Husband got a fish sandwich which was good too. Views are great, and location is perfect right along the Poipu Beach.
You must eat here! Best food and fantastic drinks. Nothing but great service. Highly recommend to make your Kauai stay even better.
four weeks of traveling the islands and over 40 different resteraunts, this was by far the worst, most over priced garbage anyone has had the audacity to put in front of me, honestly every other resteraunt has empressed but this is nothing more than a cheep tourist trap. Please don't waste your time or money here! Thank you brennecke's for making paradise a little worse.
Location / view is amazing, service is perfect. I ordered a pitcher of Pina colada and ... it was a delicious milk shake. No joke, she forgot to put rum on it :/ oh well.
Best views in poipu very close to the beach park and very good food even a gift shop and ice cream shop yummy
I actually imagined something completely different since I am not a big fan of raw fish. But that was excellent !!!
Recommend as a fun place with great food, great views and close to our hotel. i got the crispy ahi tuna tacos and they were excellent.
Fun place right 0n the water. Food is very good and great choices. Only problem is its popularity....always 45 minutes to an hour wait time.
OK food and reasonably priced drinks. Open air and can get a little cold when windy.
This was our first meal on the island...the kitchen crushed it and we were loving it
The perfect casual stop for Happy hour with a second story open air view of the beach, whales spouting, sailboats and good tropical drinks and fine food. Happy staff and happy clientele plus a charming little gift shop.
Very cool place to hang out and have some really good food. The world famous mai tai is the best drink I have had in a very long time
Good food. Varied menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal (even our three vegans).
This wasn't my first visit. Had been there years earlier with the love of my life and it holds a very dear place in my heart.
Love the atmosphere. It's right across from beach with great views of the water. Good happy hour!
Great location on the beach. We ate here twice. Food was good and drinks even better.
Amazing food and unbeatable view for the sunset. Came here after we watched a sunset on Poipu beach a few days prior, because we figured it would have the same prolific views. Sure enough, we were greeted with an incredible sunset and colors that cannot be described only seen. We tried the coconut shrimp and the fish and chips subbed with waffle fries instead of traditional fries. All super tasty and delicious, maybe just a little less batter on the fish but using Ono fish was awesome. Make sure that if you are not near the restaurant to plan accordingly because traffic can get bad going to it. Definitely would recommend this to anyone looking for great food, fast service, and an unforgettable view.
I think the food was good. The prices are steep on island. All the places follow suit. Had the clam linguini and salad. It was good. Recommend coming during happy hour and a reservation.
Fun place with nice views. Very busy, but they kept up. The food was on par with the other food on the island.
Always consistent. Simple eats and great drinks. Close to waiohai.
Nice place with an ocean view 2nd floor restaurant. the service was good,
We were seated right away and service was good. I ordered the fish tacos; they were ok. There was so much "stuff" on it the fish was overpowered by the toppings. I wouldnt order it again, but i believe my friend like her's. The other friend said her burger was good.
The food here is always delicious, the staff super friendly and let you just take your time eating and beautiful view. Had an incredible poke bowl for lunch and had to come back the next day for more. Plus they have a world famous Mai Tai here.
Got the nachos with pork and guava sauce. Reeeeally good
I went to this place as it was recommended by a friend. Except for the good location, if you are around at the beach, I didn't think the food was anything special. Their "World famous" mai-tai was also a big let down. The place was packed. I'm not sure if that's because it was raining and people were taking cover, if it was due to March madness and they had TVs with the games on, or it's because it is one of the few places to eat around the area. Just don't go here with high expectations, you'll get average bar food.
Brennecke's has always been a hit on every visit to Kaui. Great staff and food and you cannot beat the view.
Who can complain?
Great view overlooking the ocean from a 2nd floor resto with WIDE open windows for an open air feel
great ambience: casual, happy go lucky servers ready to please (our waitress was spunky and friendly, wish I could remember her name)
great food: hubby said his burger was one of the best ones he s had (I liked the pineapple slice; my mahi fish salad was a bit dry (fish is so hard to get right but it s also the real test) but the salad was quite fresh and LOTS of it! Clam Chowder soup was quite good too
great outdoor decoration of and Kauai weather
the Big Daddy prime rib was awesome for the price & fresh vegetables!
Spend an evening here for my husband's birthday. Food and cocktails were thoroughly enjoyed. Great service with a smile
Brennecke's is like an old folks home cafeteria, but with a view. It's busy and overrated. My salad tasted of a pillowcase, my girlfriend ordered a 20$ cheeseburger that you can make for 3.66$ by going to Big Save. There was nothing particularly bad about this place, but nothing that will make me go back either. Salad + cheeseburger + mai tai = 60$. Don't go there very hungry or you will be ruined.
Great place to swim clean bathrooms great waves sometimes you can see turtles or seals lots of fish to see if you snorkel clean beach nice place to watch sunset
Little busy during happy hour so drink service was a bit slow. Mai Tai & fish tacos were good.
Have served over 1,000,000 Mai Tai's that are the best! The staff are so good! Like going home to family! Love this place!
As seen on Drinking Made Easy! Try the Brown Nipple with banana!
Terrific beach front food is exactly what you'd expect, great atmosphere and great service.
This restaurant is one of our favorites. The service is very good, the food is very good and the view is spectacular...have never had a disappointing expirence here...have eaten here over twenty times in our many visits to Kauai.
Great place for food and drinks with spectacular ocean view
What a fantastic place. We are over from New Zealand and they Couldn't have been more accommodating for our party of 7 even in a peak time for them delicious food great selection of cocktails and beers.
"Shaved ice" here is crushed ice cubes, ie a snow cone. Now my father in law thinks he doesn't like shaved ice.
We went for lunch & dinner. Didn't have to wait for a table at lunch. Had a 40 min wait for dinner. Food was good. Fish & chips was delicious. Busy place. Staff was friendly. Casual atmosphere. Nice view of the ocean across the street.
The fish tacos and waffle fries were tasty. Mai tai was fine but nice they let us order one while we waited to be seated.
Good food and location. Not much that we liked for dessert, but otherwise fine. Can have a long wait - recommend to call ahead to find out.
