The front desk staff were very courteous at check in but that is all the positive I have to say about the hotel other than the location is convenient. I am a frequent traveler and stayed on the executive level and the evening attendant was the WORST I HAVE EVER seen. He was rude and l had the personality of a porcupine. I left early and went to the Hilton across the street.

As a Hurricane Irma evacuee from Georgia, I didn't have high expectations for my five nights in Birmingham but this Birmingham Marriott impressed me from the moment I arrived. Darline at the front desk took it upon herself to call me when my room was ready, even though she wasn't the one who checked me in. When I picked up the key, she went above and beyond the call of duty to help see if a better room was available so our baby could sleep better. She also asked my baby to pick out a complimentary snack from the pantry. It's small details like this that make a real difference, especially when you are on the road evacuating from a the worst hurricane the nation has seen. The highest praise goes to Darline for her proactive attitude, warm genuine friendliness, and the kindness she extended to my family and I.

As I sit in my room for the fourth night, there are gangs of kids running up and down the hall, there's a dog barking, and I can hear my neighbor's conversation word for word. There's no continental breakfeast (unless you pay the 14 dollars.) I wish I was making this stuff up. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else than here.

Very convenient location to the highway, pretty area, nice lobby, friendly staff, and a comfortable room. Only complaint is I can tell the rooms are starting to get a little tired, but it was perfect for a one night stop on the trip.

My family and I stayed here last month on our way to the beach. I absolutely loved the experience. When we arrived there was staff that helped us unload our bags and then when checking in Kenny and Emily were huge helps. The hotel is located near many good places to eat so we headed out to dinner before coming back for the night. The next morning it was so nice to be able to get a good and substantial breakfast before continuing on to our final destination. We will definitely be back on our next trip through!

Excellent accommodations and comfort for our visit to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The rooms were clean and furnished well, and the "Smart TV" in our room was well-suited for watching Netflix and other streaming services. The coffee bar serving Starbucks products was reasonably priced, and the coffee/food was comparable to other Starbucks I have been to. In all, I enjoyed staying at this Marriot and would recommend it for someone visiting the Birmingham area.

This by far has to be the WORST hotel experience I've ever had in my life. Ever since we arrived nothing was done right. We got to our room and there were dirty dishes sitting right by our door. There was zero toiletries in our room, we had to request that. Zero ice bucket in our room so we had to request it 3 times until they finally gave us one. Conveniently only one ice maker works in the whole building. Our flat sheet on the bed was ripped. The safe in our room had low batteries so we couldn't use it. The AC in the room doesn't work properly. Our room was never cleaned. And to top it all off nobody answers the front desk or house keeping phones ever. Literally, I beg you, do NOT stay here. Marriott should shut this location down!

Very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. My family and I had to evacuate because of hurricane micheal so I choose this hotel based off the good reviews. We got to the room and noticed right away that the sheets were dirty, there s was what looked like a juice and pee stain on the comforter and the pillow cases smelled like sweat. I call the front desk three times and spoke to three associate but no one never came. In the bathroom I was cleaning my face with the Kleenex the first two Kleenex were wet so I checked the box and all the other Kleenex were yellow and wet. I called the front desk again to report this and also requested clean sheets but nothing! Finally around 7pm housekeeping showed up, I told her about the Kleenex and asked for clean covers she said she would be right back but never came. The next morning I called the front desk to speak to a manager but none was available. I told the associate what was going and sheet had a sheet sent to our room- no clean conforter, pillow cases, or fitted sheet. Just a sheet!

I ve stayed at many Marriott hotels and they have always been the best. I would expect something like this to happen at a motel 6 but not at the Marriott where we paid almost $700.

After coming to Birmingham multiple times, this was actually my 1st stay at the Birmingham Marriott. I was impressed with the quality and cleanliness of the rooms, the M lounge had tasty snacks and a wonderful breakfast this morning, and most importantly the staff was welcoming, helpful, and kind. I will definitely be back.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to spend the night in Birmingham. We had a wonderful dinner and went back to our room to watch tv and relax. The room was nice, but the upstairs guests were noisy and there isn't any complimentary breakfast at all. For $100 a night it's not worth it. Next time we will stay at a Days Inn or Baymont. Somewhere else. After all, breakfast starts your day off. The coffee in your room is the only free coffee you get. Any other you ask for will cost you $3.00. We weren't too impressed when we first checked in and went to our room. Down the hallway, housekeeping had taken sheets off of the beds and just had them all laying on the hallway floor. Tacky and somewhat of a hazard.

I only stayed overnight to sleep on my road trip, but the service given to a in-n-out guest as phenomenal. The travel site messed up the room booking but the front desk bearly batted an eye and quickly sorted my room out for me. The morning crew knew about my room situation and made sure everything was to my liking before wishing me a safe trip. This was one of the best hotel service I've had and it's a darn shame I was only there for a quick overnight stay. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in the area again!

Hotel room was clean. Toilet was not well maintained and had issues running after flushing. Restaurant breakfast was tasty and good variety. Meeting room was clean and presented no issues other than typical AC over run.

I loved the option of getting 500 extra points for waving room service. That's great since I rarely make a mess in the couple hours I am in there awake and I don't have to have someone rummaging through my stuff everyday. Win win

If you re looking for a place to stay after an Alabama game, look elsewhere. We weren t able to check in at 3:30 pm. We were told our luggage would be in room when we could finally check in after the game. We didn t have our luggage in our room and waited 45 min to get it once we finally got in our room.

I would just like to say, the first day I arrived into this hotel was amazing. Kenny at the front desk has to be the best front desk representative I have ever met in all my years of traveling around the world. If i were to describe my experience with one word, all I could say is phenomenal. With Kenny I felt that he really meant the kindness and generosity he showed while we had our brief interaction. If there is anyway for Kenny to be put at a hire authority within this hotel I highly recommend him. Best employee ever!

From the minute I stepped in I knew it was going to be a disaster. Sloppy looking front desk staff, wasnt greeted as a rewards member, lounge at front door had some sort of liquid spill that had an old towel left over it, hallways never saw a vacuum, trash overflowing in trash cans, dust in every corner and dirty windows. Got to our room and opened a cabinet only to have the door fall off the hinges in my hand, bathroom dirty with hair in tub and sink. Rug stained with old coffee, bag that holds hairdryer was filthy. Found old metal screws on the floor, candy wrappers on the floor and the ironing board cover was gross and full of dust bunnies!
I had prepaid for this room prior to arrival. Only to return home after three nights stay to find the hotel had charged my room to my credit card AGAIN!!...when we were leaving in early morning the front desk clerk was asleep in a lounge chair covered with a blanket.!
I would rather sleep in my car next time.

Check in staff was rude ? Only 2 elevators in a medium sized hotel and they work exceptionally , slow ... There was a party that went on until 4:00 am in room next door which actually prompted me to write this review at 4:15 am ! Police were there upon our arrival back from our wedding around 11:00 p.m.. but the party still continued until after 4:00 am ?

They must have opened & closed their door which shuts LOUDLY at least 40 times throughout the night which kept waking us up as well as the yelling ? We will definitely address our concerns with Marriott for usually , it s a 5 star experience !

Sadly , hotel is in great location and rooms are somewhat new & clean. Pillows were soft & comfortable but beds were VERY hard almost like sleeping on the floor. You definitely can hear your neighbor or maybe ours were just so loud ? Even though it has beautiful amenities the staff don t appear happy ? Unless this is your only option , I d book somewhere else !

It has gone downhill in every way since we last stayed here. I understand remodeling but the great feel this place had has been sucked out totally. The food was not good, the pool was terrible, everything smelled offend the new bed frames are very painful.

Nice hotel and love the room interior and shower. The staff was courteous with a southern charm. The location of the hotel does require the need for a car. However, the hotel provides a courtesy shuttle that can take you to nearby shopping and eating areas within a certain mile radius.
