Attended a formal wedding and reception here it was beautiful. The staff was very professional and the location inside and outside was very clean. I will stay here in the future and will use for future wedding or meeting venues.

Loved how the hotel smelled when I walked in. The room was clean and modern. The bed and pillows we're so comfy. The only draw back is there was only 1 drawer to unpack my things in. I loved it and will be back!

We stayed one night at this hotel and I have never seen a staff any more friendly or professional! Every employee spoke to us and was asking for ways to serve us. The breakfast bar was delicious. There were a couple of minor issues in the room, so that is the only reason I'm not giving five stars. I would make this a regular stop for my family on our travels!

To say the service received during my stay was exceptional would be an understatement! Manager Tonya Williams was just outstanding along with others like Emily at the front desk, Housekeeping, Denise at the restaurant along with the tall bellman that assisted me when I first walked in. There was a culture of kindness at this hotel that cannot be beat!

This star treatment, coupled with all of the nearby accessibility to shopping, food and more makes this hotel my only choice for future stays in Birmingham!

Out of every Marriott that I have stayed at this one is by far the worst one. We had to change rooms 3 times because of issues with the bathroom. The hotel seems to be an older one and could use a little bit of an update. The customer service was good. We just had issues with the actual hotel.

Room was not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel. First thing was the commode was rusty. Asked for a room with two beds got there and was told that the only thing available was a king bed and pull out sofa bed. No one came to clean our room so at 5pm I called and was told that the points were being added to his awards instead of cleaning the room what kind of bull crappie was that. Then we asked for a late check out today and cancel the room for tonight and was told ok found out on the way home they charged us 695.00 for two nights. When the room would not have been that much for the whole week. Never again. So to make it clear we stayed 2 nights and had to call for clean towels and for some one to empty the trash. Had no cream and sugar for coffee this morning had to find someone yesterday morning and get sugar off the cart. On hold with the office about the charges over 30 minutes with no solution about the overall charge. Was told they were with a customer and would call him back. Will not recommend them to my friends. Give them the worse review possible maybe not even a star

Very nice hotel. Check in was a breeze with super helpful and friendly staff. The room was spotless. Very comfortable bed with good pillows. I'm super picky about my pillows. would stay here again if I'm ever in the area. I stayed in a king room. The shower was very nice as well. Actually none of the best hotel showers I've user. Very hot water. I would stay here again.

Very pleasant!

Very pleasant!
Enjoyed our 2 night stay. Room was clean, staff was courteous and attentive, and area around the hotel felt safe. Had no issues with parking. Breakfast was OK with hot items such as eggs, biscuit and sausage as well as fruits, cereals, etc. Hotel seemed either new or updated, a very pleasant stay overall. Will look forward to staying here...

The young lady at the front desk callie had her best friend at work and thought it was ok for her to be at the front desk while she works. She was texting while the oh just rang. We had to chg rooms 3x the first room had cereal all.over the floor, the second room at blood spots on the sheets and I had to wait 12:45- 3:45pm for a manager to call me back after I requested to speak with one multiple times
I don't think we would stay here again

I payed up front through Priceline, after returning home I find out that they charged my credit card again.I called customer service and they said I have to talk with the hotel. I have called the general manager and accountant and they will not take my call or return any calls . My next course of action is to call the police to report the managements credit card scheme

This is a wonderful place to stay and I would highly recommend staying here in the Birmingham area. The room was clean and very comfortable. I had an excellent night of sleep. I cant say enough about how comfortable the bed was. The staff were very attentive. It was a great stay and I will definitely return. The food was good and priced right. It is close to everything. Best place to stay in my opinion. I will be returning. Great rates. Great hotel. I love it.

We were in Birmingham to celebrate our daughter s birthday and stayed at the Marriott. The person at the desk was helpful and attentive. The bartender was nice and the room was great.
My only complaint was the breakfast buffet was only warm not hot and the staff seemed to be overwhelmed by the number of customers.

The hotel was pretty large for the number of elevators available, the bathroom lighting was horrible, the entire Kleenex box was wet like it had been dropped in the toilet, and the cocktail was watery. All in all, not my favorite Marriott!

After evacuating from hurricane Irma and driving 8.5 hours, we arrived at this Marriott at around 1130am-noon. They advised us of a strict 3pm check in time. Having a small animal with us we decided to wait outside for 3 hours. At about 245pm I asked when we would be able to get into a room, the lady said I'm hoping about 330pm. That was a little irritating considering we had been there so long already. 330 rolls around still no room. At that time we brought all of our things in and sat in a hallway. There was a German Shepard dog that was allowed to bark at other animals and people the entire time. How could they allow one animal to disrupt the entire lobby? How hard is it to send them outside if they can not behave? After 4pm is when I was told our room was ready. The toilet seat was broken and sliding side to side like it was going to fall off, called to see if maintenance could fix it, think they ever came? Of course not. There is only AC, so if you're cold that's just too bad. The house keepers have no standards to abide by. They replaced the towels and made the bed. You could see where our heads laid in the pillows from the night previous. The host during breakfast was all over the place, people were lining up waiting while she was nowhere to be found. The lobby is a large area with benches and seating everywhere. Still had to wait on a list, to eat in a designated area. I feel like I was in a brand new super 8 hotel or maybe holiday inn at best . My bill was over $400 for 2 nights. Next time I will take my chances in my house during a hurricane rather than deal with the stress of a Marriott, and I am a Marriott rewards member. Never again, Hyatt only.

My family and I stayed at the Marriott Birmingham ...

My family and I stayed at the Marriott Birmingham on 3590 Grandview Parkway last weekend (Jan. 19). We were having a small impromptu birthday gathering for cake and coffee in my mother-in-law's honor. In the middle of our meal/cake & coffee, a very drunk man who had stumbled in the side doors of the hotel began SHOUTING OBSCENITIES and beating on the men's bathroom door. This immediately alarmed everyone in our party, namely, my seven year old son. After a few minutes, the man stumbled out of the men's room with HIS PANTS UNDONE clearly struggling to pull them up and button them. At this point, my brother-in-law quickly walked over to alert hotel staff who were nonchalantly typing away behind the desk. The staff told him they would contact police. A few seconds later, the man stumbles over and begins to stand near my son and father-in-law while telling everyone that "people in the TVs (in the lobby) are watching us". The man was clearly out-of-his-mind drunk or high. He was very hostile and combative with my husband and brother-in-law as they tried to divert his attention and get him away from our party. The man would laugh maniacally one second and scream and shout the next. My husband and brother-in-law quickly tried to get the man away from our table and our son, so that my son and I could leave the lobby. When my son and I locked ourselves inside the hotel room, he pitifully told me things like, "Maybe we should keep our shoes on incase we have to run away." and "What will we do if that man finds us?" just to name a few. As a parent, that was heart-breaking.
My sister-in-law videoed the ordeal while hotel staff never even bothered to check in with my husband and brother-in-law while they tried to talk the man down and occupy him while police arrived.
What was the hotel staff doing???? They DID NOTHING TO STOP THIS MAN OR EVEN TO INTERVENE. What about patron SAFETY?? This was a situation that could have quickly escalated.
Later, when we asked if the man was a patron of the hotel, the staff replied that he was dropped off and stumbled in the side doors. We also asked what happened to the hotel security that had been wandering around the lobby earlier. The staff replied that there was/is an hour delay between shift changes. WHAT??? That is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. When the security guard finally meandered in AFTER police arrived, she NEVER went over to check on the situation. She NEVER acted alarmed NOR concerned. She walked over to the hotel staff and chatted with them - some security guard!!
This was a pathetic display of hotel staff and shows the concern they have for hotel patrons. No apologies nor responsibility by the hotel staff were issued. My son is still shaken from that incident. Marriott needs to put key passes on the EXTERIOR of the building as most city hotels now have.
ONE STAR for LAZY HOTEL STAFF.

**IN RESPONSE TO HOTEL'S STATEMENT - 02/03: No, there were NO MEASURES taken while waiting for police by hotel staff. A member of our party took VIDEO of the entire ordeal. You can clearly see NO ONE but members of our party speaking to him. The police watched OUR video and spoke to US about the ordeal - not staff. You know why? Because the staff stayed BEHIND THE DESK DOING NOTHING.
Besides, where you there? NO, you weren't. Of course the Marriott staff is going to LIE and say they reacted properly.

The staff was friendly upon arrival and promptly checked me in to my room. The rooms were very nice and clean as well as more updated/modern. The only issue was you could hear anyone in the hallway very easily.. even when the were trying to be quiet.

What do you expect from such a high name hotel? Exactly what we got
The service was awesome. Checking in and out was a breeze and any questions we had, they had the answers.
We had 3 bigger guys in one room, and 2 were not going to fit on the full size beds they had. We asked about our uptions, and they had no queens, but were able to do a king size along with a pullout couch, with no upgrade charge! Incredible!

Covid-19 : no room cleaning (which should be an essential). No breakfast for platinum members, but you can purchase (if you pay there isn't Corona). No business center,. You have to email your staff for the curious reception people to go over. One of them told me that I can't get another bottle of water cause I've got two in the morning. Only the logo outside was Marriott's....doesn't look as one - inside.
