The rooms are amazing, but I would suggest more storage space. Everything is in the open. Wish the renovations were done so I could see everything.

Customer service poor. The front desk not friendly and unprofessional.
Had a large group reservation for over a month in advance. Upon arriving at 8pm we were told the rooms were not ready. We were told they would call us as soon as the rooms were ready and went to the bar in the lobby to wait. While in the bar I was given a drink that had broken glass in it and actually swallowed some glass before realizing it. The top of the glass was broken and several pieces ended up in my drink.
At approx 10pm I went and asked about our rooms only to be told half of our group would need to stay at the Drury Inn some distance away.
After all the inconvenience and trouble there was no offer by any of the staff to make things right. I was charged the full amount for the room and even charged for the drink with glass shards in it!
I travel to Birmingham often for business. Anyone like to guess where I won't be staying again?
Bathroom was not up to par. Shoe print on the toilet, dirty shower curtain and finger prints all on the bathroom door.
Horrible. The staff at the front desk was fantastic. The food at the bar was bad. We waited over 45 minutes from the time we sat down to the time the cold nachos showed. The cheese was still shredded and never melted. Then Jim the bar manager refuse to to help out at all. Didn't offer to remake them, take off the charge. Today for lunch my salad was missing dressing and cheese. Then as a kicker, the M club is closed on the weekend. So don't plan on being a bon voy weekend traveler and using any of your perks.
Nice hotel and room. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff.
Located on the main thoroughfare with easy access to everything in the area. Very updated with a huge lobby, MClub and more. Being a Platnium I would put this full service in top 10% in USA.
The hotel was nice, clean and modern. Check in was simple and quick. My room was nice for a Marriott, so exactly what I expected. Two fairly average issues for the 3 star rating. #1 Cocktails in the lobby bar are very $$$. More expensive than a luxury hotel in Atlanta or Miami. I guess Birmingham is moving up. #2. Housekeeping didn't clean my room for a two night stay. Left for breakfast at 9:00a.m. and came back at 6:30 p.m. Plenty of time to make up the room. When asked about this at the front desk they had no clue. A colleague of mine staying at the same hotel but different floor had the same thing happen to him. Funny thing was when I got to my room the Do Not Disturb sign was on the door and a Marriott black plastic bag hanging over it that had towels and toiletries in it. I didn't put out Do Not Disturb so I guess housekeeping fell behind and felt the best way was to put out DND and go on there way. Front desk never followed up with a reason and housekeeping never came to my room to fix clearly their miss doing. Wouldn't go back.
Awesome stay. Very comfortable and cozy. Bar is not bad either.
Very stylish newly remodeled rooms. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Charlie at the front desk couldn't have been more helpful! We would certainly stay here again while in Birmingham.
Room is a bit dated, although hotel just started a complete renovation! and I spied on the new rooms.. and they are GORGEOUS!!! Beautiful modern design! Kudos to Eve at the front desk. She is a HUGE asset to the company!
Great service. Working AC and Starbucks. An update of gym would make it a 5 star.
The lack of customer service I experienced at this hotel was the worst and most disappointing. We called hours ahead to confirm all aspects of the hotel (pool, workout area, lounge etc) were open and fully functional. Upon arrival we learned the pool was closed for safety reasons (too much chlorine) and would be closed for TWO days -this is excessive and unnecessary. I requitbey allow me to stay at another Marriot and I was told it was not possible to transfer my reservation. We are in Birmingham, AL not NYC. It s hard to believe that Marriott as big a conglomerate as it is that they can t comp one room for one night??? Ridiculous. No service or understanding. Trip ruined.
Best hotel so far in Birmingham. They are under renovation in the lobby but overall a noce hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Great for restaurants nearby.
The fact that we had no toilet paper and a beer cap in the bathroom should have been the first sign.... I stayed here with my husband and 2 y.o. son last night, the night before Thanksgiving, and woke up to NO HOT WATER. When I called the front desk they could only agree that this was unacceptable. I was told no manager was available. No offer to have my call returned. I called again and spoke with a more pleasant rep that said she would make sure a manager spoke with me. Unfortunately, this manager lacked any customer service skills like the first rep I spoke with. I've had better customer service at the Red Roof Inn. This was our first visit to Birmingham. It will be our last stay at a Marriott location.
**UPDATE** Unfortunately, we woke up Friday (11/24) morning and again there was no hot water. I went downstairs to the main desk and spoke with a young lady that was empathetic, understanding and able to compensate us for the inconvenience. The same manager that I spoke to the day before stood by as this young lady tried to help find a reasonable solution. I will say he did stop me and personally apologize. I accepted and advised him that regardless of the situation at hand, "the last customer should be treated just as fairly and compassionately as the first."
I had a great time there. But, WiFi access is not free. I feel, that is the only negative point. Their system forces you to login everytime.
We were just driving through Birmingham so we only stayed for 1 night but it was a really nice hotel! The staff was very friendly.
This hotel is very nice inside. The rooms are newly renovated and beautiful.
Very expensive, but the night staff were sweet and the rooms were clean and nice.
Nice staff...ice machine was inop on my floor (4th)
Went to rent a room but all were booked for an Alabama Tide game, looked nice but check beforehand if it's football season.
Mattress on king bed is very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on
Nice place, however, I just took a friend to a job fair at this place. The atmosphere was very luxurious.
Room 106 is to close to an exiting door. Every time the door opens and closes you can hear it.
We have meetings here once or twice a year. Never stayed here as I live in town. Staff is always friendly, even service staff. We had food catered recently, as we always do. My boss said the person in charge said she would surprise us this time with more than just sandwiches. WOW! For a meeting none of us really want to go to the chicken, potatoes, salad, beef and all these rest made all 40 of us happy. What a great way to start a 5 hour meeting. Even got cookies toward the end. The property is well kept and in a good area.
The place was very nice l enjoy my self there l will go back again.
I'll stay away from the fact that it was torn to bits during my stay. I'm glad they are improving it. The lobby looks as though it will be really nice. The rooms are also remodelled and super modern and nice. What's my 3 stars? The walls are paper thin. Something you can't do anything about it. You hear everything your neighbor is doing.... Down to them breathing. It's horrible. Expect no privacy and hope your neighbor doesn't snore.
I am extremely disappointed. We drove in from Knoxville and plan our stay here as the halfway point to Panama City.. Once we checked in and got to our room we realized we did no revive to room we booked. We was supposed to have a king bed and a sofa bed but instead just a king bed. Now I may need to mention that it is my wife, my 4 year old son and my 1 year old son and we are expected to sleep in one bed. I went up to the front desk and showed them my booking and all they said was they are sorry but my booking was not guaranteed even though this is what I paid for. They refused to make anything right and was extremely rude and inconsiderate. I will never waste my money at a Marriott again.
Overall it was good. Starbucks in the lobby so there was no free coffee. 3.50 for a cup. The air conditioning only kept the room at 70 degrees. I think they must have an outside air on the A/C.
The staff were courteous and professional.
Meeting facilities we're appropriate for our large meeting and lunch was very good
Even though we were only using the conference room. It was very clean. The sound system was very good. The lobby was clean and the ushers were friendly
Room beautiful. Loved the shower!!!! (vs bathtub.) Room wasnt totally made up when we got there. No water bottles in room; no drinking cups. TV on. Stay was still wonderful. Marriott at its best.
The location was Immaculate plenty of parking great staff that was eagerly anticipating my needs and they were very friendly the location was very convenient and close to the interstate.
The Marriot took great care of us during our event.
Lifetime Platinum Marriott member and I have
never been so disrespected by a hotel!!! I spend 100+ nights out a year, and I was treated like I was checking into a Motel 6!!!! I d avoid this hotel because there are plenty of good options around the area!!!
Bar service was ok, food took a long time though. Rooms were nice, spacious and clean.
Very nice and updated building. Seemed very clean enviroment.
Great service and rooms are nice...Great Location aswell !!
The location was set up very well for the event. They had coffee and different teas to drink. They had water at each table.
This place has been nicely upgraded. Great location, especially if you have lounge entry status. 24 hour lounge with good snacks and food. Room is typical Marriott. Plenty of parking and easy access to the freeways.
I didnt spend time in there like as a guest but from what I seen it looked okay
I visited this hotel on business travel and after a long day of work I returned to a room that had not been cleaned. My dinner from the previous night was still in my trash can, the bed nor anything else had been tended to, but they did provide fresh towels. This is the last thing you'd expect after a long day of work. The receptionist first offered me 500 rewards points then 2000 for the inconvenience. As a Marriott rewards member and simply a Marriott guest I expected better much better treatment and unfortunately will never patronize this hotel again. The amount of rewards points offered to remedy this inconvenience is an insult. I'm an attorney and did not expect that a long business day would be made longer by an inattentive and unconcerned hotel.
I didn't see much of the building, just the main lobby and a small meeting room. Service was helpful and friendly.
No contract beautiful clean efficient five star service as always
Beautiful spaces and a super friendly staff. We traveled for a regional Violet Convention hosted by Dixie Violets in Birmingham. All the facilities were wonderful. Parking lot neat and safe.
Upon check-in, everything was great. The reception desk staff were very nice and my room was ready for early check-in at 1:00pm. They confirmed my request for additional items in the room and said they would have them sent. Here's where it went down. The items never made it to the room, I called house keeping later that evening and requested the items. Even though this hotel is newly renovated, the light switch was handing half off in the bathroom and the thermostat was half off the wall. There was a broke hanger in the closet area and many more very small cosmetic problems. We ate in the cafe/bar, there were 3 of us, only 1 of the meals were edible. The other 2 tasted of the same old oil. The couch in the room was very uncomfortable. We were there for the Talladega race, when we got back that evening I contacted housekeeping to request additional towels and a duvet. I was previously on the elevator with the housekeeping staff who delivered the items that I requested and we were very friendly to one another. He brought the duvet cover but not the insert stating that because it was for the couch "it would be enough". While he did bring the insert back you could tell in his body language that he wasn't happy about it. There were several other small things that housekeeping didn't do while we were out that day that I thought they should have done when they serviced the room. I tried to get ice when we got there but the bag in the ice can had some type of sticky film on it so I threw it away, when they serviced the room the next day, they didn't replace the ice bucket bag. They didn't empty the bathroom trash. There are a few other things but I'll leave this hear. Needless to say when we return next year, I will stay at another hotel.
Love it here on the hotel floor with The LSU football team
A college information session was held there and the staff was friendly and it is a beautiful hotel.
Nicest hotel I've probably staying in. Beds were so comfy. Room was immaculate. Staff were kind and considerate. Breakfast was delicious and included. Will definitely stay again!
Rooms are clean and bed is comfy. Service is outstanding.
Awesome staff. Facility is upgraded and very nice. M Club is great!
As far as Marriott's go, this one is pretty dated and sad. The decor is right out of the early 90s, back when technology was nonexistent and (thus) multiple bedside plugs were unnecessary. The snacks are best found in the vending machine. I didn't even know Marriott hotels had food vending machines. Alas, you can't beat the location and the staff is friendly and helpful.
nice hotel..however it us on a busy street but there is a light at the intersection which helps
****TRAVELERS BEWARE****
While the renovations are quite nice the hotel staff, cleanliness and management are atrocious! My room was renovated but absolutely disgusting. The shower was CAKED in mold and bacteria (I will post pictures)! The shower had so much mold and CAKED on filth I wouldn't even believe since it was such a new hotel. I went to the desk and they said they were 100% full so basically nothing they could do. My 3 year old son was cold at night so I tried to turn on the heat which had a 20 year old thermostat that didn't work, the bathroom hairdryer didn't work (needed for a wedding), and they had a zoo of animals in the hotel that barked early every morning and late at night! When checking out I asked to speak to a manager but they informed me there wasn't one there. What kind of name brand hotel at full capacity doesn't have a manager on?!?! So they said that he/she would call me but no one did. The bartender Jim in their very nice bar was so rude to people I could even believe the things he was saying to customers! I wouldn't have expected that kind of service in the worst bar in the area much less a bar/restaurant that serves $40 steaks! We were completely disappointed with our whole experience at this hotel. Makes me wonder if they even changed the bedding with how dirty it was in the bathroom! Stay away this hotel may make you sick!!
Birmingham Marriott is one of the best Hotels I have stayed in last 10 years of my consulting career. Great ambience, clean and friendly environment and good rooms with comfortable beds.
Special mention to the staff in Birmingham Marriott.
Bradford, a young and very friendly person. Met him first time when I checked in on Sunday and appears that I know him for years.
Emily from concierge launge is a great host. Always smiling and welcoming. Would welcome all guests with respect and make sure they feel special is all ways.
Last but not the least, Charlie at the reception. Another friendly and helpful host. I forgot my jacket last week and he made sure that he kept it safe and had it ready when I checked in following week.
Cannot think of staying anywhere else when I visit Marriott. You guys rock... keep up the great work..
Great hotel with a great atmosphere and clean environment. Everything seems to be nearly renovated! Highly recommend!
I stayed at the Birmingham Marriott with my wife in February. We checked in around 10:30pm, and there was around 6 people ahead of us. Kenny, the front desk agent was very professional, he made sure to continuously look up at everyone and let us all know that he would be right with us. He got everyone checked in quickly, with a smile, and very professional and knowledgeable. When we reached the front desk, Kenny was so nice, caring, and had a wonderful energy about him. Kenny is the perfect example of AMAZING customer service. He goes above and beyond to make sure every single guest is treated the same. I can definitely see this kind gentleman moving up the corporate ladder rather quickly. I hope his management team knows what a great asset they have. Thank you so much Kenny, for a wonderful first impression of Birmingham Marriott.
Attended a wedding reception at this venue. Lobby and bar space has been recently renovated to a more modern/minimalistic style which looks nice. Ballrooms are fairly large only problem we had was there was another event going on next door and their music was so loud that we were unable to hear tgebspeeches given in our hall.
Nice view, nice lobby. The bathrooms were very clean and the rooms would get a 5 star as well. Lovely place!!!!
The bed was awesome. I loved the good firm mattress. I ate lunch there and was quite impressed with the Ruben and coleslaw.
The room that I stayed in was comfortable and roomy.
My husband and I frequently select this Marriott hotel when traveling to Birmingham. We love atmosphere, and the staff are always great!
