I didn't actually stay but my expectations were met well
Good hotel,good rooms,underground car parking 12 per day.dart station is a 10minute walk from hotel.Good breakfast also
In my room now. Loud disco going on beside me hope it stops soon. Room was cold and I had to find and adjust the heating..
We got conflicting reviews of the hotel, but we had a good time here. The staff was courteous and rooms were very nice. We were in the lower floor so didn't have any view, but it didn't really matter. The airport shuttle comes right outside the hotel.
Very interesting hotel in an elegant country manor with beautiful exterior. We had a suite which had it's own parlor and large bedroom
Lovely hotel. Big rooms, good bed. Customer service was good & so was the food in the restaurant. Only issue is there could be better showers. A short cab ride to the city center and a bus from the airport goes directly to the hotel in 40 minutes.
Fabulous hotel with lovely staff. Although I would suggest to anyone staying to ask for a room not facing the road, it was quite warm in the room so the windows were open but around 05:30/06:00 the lorries, deliveries bins etc start up and the noise is quite loud and woke us up we had to close the windows which then left us in a stuffy room.
Nice hotel in Ballsbridge. My wife and I stayed here for the first time last weekend. The hotel has some quirky elements as it is a conversion. We loved it. We got an upgrade to the top floor. Room was not huge, but it's a city hotel. Bed was great and bathroom was spotless. Breakfast selection was good the following morning. We used the underground car park too.
Nice staff, cheerful and friendly.
Would definitely recommend staying here. All of the staff we met were so friendly and couldn't have been more attentive. Couldn't fault anything about our stay. Fantastic food, spotlessly clean room, great value and excellent service. Thank you!
I found the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge, as always, a pleasant experience. My room was clean and comfortable. The hotel food was acceptable. All in all it was a good experience.
A great hotel in a very nice district. A nice restaurant and bar are located downstairs. First class location and facility.
No soap in bathroom. Clogged drain. Slow restaurant service. No power outlet next to bed. Rooms are too hot/no AC. Construction.
Very nice hotel, clean and comfortable. It is an old horoscope for freemasons. Is beautiful. A bit far from the center, but very well connected. As a hotel I would put 5 stars, but the cafeteria lowers the score. It is meaningless. They do not see in what order they arrive. The letter has been changed these days. The same schedule. It works according to need. So you arrive at 20 hours. They say they can't help you for up to 15 minutes, then it takes just over an hour to serve. Yesterday it was the other way around we went at 9:45 pm and they told us it was already closed. Then we fix it. There is no schedule, no order. Anyway, great hotel but very bad cafe
We stayed here over New Year. It was the best value hotel within walking distance of Dublin city centre. The service from entering to leaving was top notch - friendly, efficient, and helpful. Rooms were smart and clean, the dining areas easy to access and served a wide range of food, and the bar was well stocked.
Excellent customer service. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.
This hotel is a total scam! They charged me premium price of 280 per night for a shabby room in the basement! But the worst was the smell in the bathroom which definitely wasn't clean, I complained twice but they couldn't do anything as it was late in the night... Definitely not coming back!
Good value from proximity to city centre and UCD. Comfortable in an interesting building. Staff were efficient and helpful. Slightly strange layout on first and ground floors. Good parking!! Currently with something me renovating going on.
We stayed in Clayton after going to bon jovi concert. Location was so convinient, 5 mins walk to concert. However, the price for overnight stay was 300 euro, breakfast not included, parking cost not included also. The room was OK. However we were inconveniently located right above parking entrance.
Rooms were not what I expected from a 4 star hotel and the noise level on the Saturday (from a wedding held in the hotel) made it difficult to sleep.
Beautiful, airy, very well run, clean, and staff were amazing!!!
Very "georgian" place with RDS next to it and near the city centre
Such a lovely place excellent customer service and accommodations
My friend and I spent 2 nights there on our trip to Ireland. Nice place, good food, average staff friendliness. My only complaint is that we were in a first floor room in the rear of the building which put us slightly below street level so we couldn't open the curtains or even the windows because the workmen (hotel was under construction) were parked right outside the window about 4 feet away. Very stuffy, warm room but can open window for relief not even at night because who knows what little critters could crawl into your room.
Nice classy hotel, with big and comfortable rooms. They have a bar and a big area for breakfast / restaurant. I only tried the breakfast which was good, plenty of choices and good quality. Check-in / checkout was nice, fast and efficient. I'd recommend giving this place a try if you're around Dublin, although it's not so close to the city center.
I received a corporate gift from my company for two nights bed and breakfast at your hotel.
I had a baby six weeks ago, after a very traumatic pregnancy and emergency c section, I was unable to use the gift from my company so I decided to book the two nights for my mam and dad as a little break for them to enjoy.
I had viewed the hotel on your website and it looked super and I felt very comfortable and sure my mam and dad would have a lovely stay and a well needed break, I was so genuinely disappointed to hear that was not the case.
On arrival my mam presented the voucher to reception as I had instructed her to do.
The room they were given was very small and very basic, there was no toilet paper and my mam had to rung down to reception for some and only one small towel between two people, the bathroom had a musty damp smell.
At breakfast when they gave their room number, the staff member said the booking was for one person and only one of them could have breakfast, my mam asked the staff member to double check, they had to wait in the queue with all the other guests standing behind them listening to the conversation while the person phoned reception. At reception they said it was for one again my mam had to say I gave the voucher to the receptionist on arrival.and it was for two people, they were asked to wait while the staff member went to check herself. They were mortified and humiliated, my mam is 70 years old and my dad just turned 75, disgraceful.
The breakfast was cold, and the staff were very unapproachable and dismissive.
My mam seemed to think that because they were paying with a voucher this all happened. I assured her that I was sure this was not the case and I am sure the hotel group value corporate customers.
It was more of a stress than a treat and I felt so bad that I had given it to them.
I was shocked with everything and very very disappointed and I would not recommend the hotel to friends or family and I have voiced my mams experience to my company also.
I tend to dwell in the good not the bad. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Iron and hair dryer avail in rooms. Good size twin and double. We had to ask for towels multiple times and several times the teas and sugars were not refilled which was frustrating. Met need.
Room was clean but not room I saw in pictures!had valentine's Day dinner in hotel, mixed up both my partner's and my order gave us 6 yes 6 chips each instead of mash!tiny piece of steak each which was not cooked as we asked!!! truthfully we went to a pub about a hour later and had a fantastic dinner for quarter the price!
Good, Top notch breakfast & accommodation. Perhaps a thermostat should be added to the rooms to control the Heat. Was quite hot in the hotel rooms
Beautiful place, beautiful hotel, clean rooms and bathrooms. The view, depending on which side you are, but what bothers me about the few drawers in the rooms and their deployment may not suit everyone.
Went here for a pre drink before a concert. Horrible experience. Place was under staffed and the staff did not seem to have a system at all. Everyone just seemed to do their own thing.
Convenient location for that Dart into central Dublin. Curious underground restaurant, bar and brasserie.
Premises a bit neglected, restaurant under refurbishment, gym not available, parking quite expensive. As to the remainder, it's ok.
I had lunch at the restaurant of this hotel and was the most disappointing meal of my life. I am coeliac and informed the two waiters that took our order that I have gluten allergy. The two different waiters confirmed to me that my dishes dont contain gluten. They brought me the soup topped up with crouton (which obviously contains gluten) and the salad which once I tasted it, I instantly understood that it containted gluten. The waiters didn't apologise or even revognised that this was a HUGE mistake. The restaurant manager arrived and she apologised and mentioned that it was the chef's fault and that they will update their menu to contain all allergents in detail correctly. VERY DISAPPOINTED by your restaurant Clayton Hotel. I hope that no one else will suffer as I am suffering at the moment because of yout chef's mistake.
Nice hotel in a convenient location! Right nex to the RDS and AIB bank centre.
Beautiful historic building! Very friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and very nice bar, lounge, and restaurant!
Do not go near the car park here! It is horribly tight to get through! The hotel looks impressive inside, but needs a lot of money spent on renovations
Food was deliscious and staff were extremely helpful with our big family get together without a reservation
enjoyed my overnight stay in your beautiful hotel. Yummy cup of coffee and pastry the next morning. The only fault I can say is that the extractor fan was really noisy in the bathroom.
When checking in our room was incredibly small, had almost no natural lighting, a shower that neither of us could even fit inside, and was incredibly old.
Upon complaining to reception, we were very kindly moved to a much nicer room - service was great.
The rest if the hotel is very tatty and the bar and restaurant space is not pleasant for relaxing in, but is being renovated for 2018
Friendly staff based in a truely beautiful building with a great history. Staff are attentive and upbeat, rooms are clean, modern and well heated/cooled. A great selection of bar food and drinks available. Walkable to the city centre and well serviced by public transport.
My best friend got married here and place is stunning
Worst Hotel in Dublin that I have stayed in. Dirty rooms, no room temperature regulation, no proper wardrobe, water is dirty, everywhere in the hotel the walls and woods are full of scratches. No clue how my company could book me in this hotel ever again after same bad experience 4y ago.
Summarizing, this is very nice hotel, renovated historic building, price aligned with Dublin hotel rates, but with added benefits: conveniently located near two DART stops, AirCoach to Airport stops at the bus stop in front every 30 minutes, staff very helpful and friendly, Bar and restaurant top notch ( shout out to the bartenders!), and a Tesco store is a short walk down Merrion. Really had no unresolved issues to mention. Not too far from City center, a healthy walk if you choose. Also very interesting neighborhood to walk about with all the Embassies nearby. Would definitely stay again. .
Nice hotel , very clean, bit over priced but louis at the desk made it worth while and worth the extra few pound. More hotels need people like this workin at desk. He knows customer service, if your bookin here ask for him . It's the the little things that matter . 5 stars
Most beautiful place to stay in Dublin. Excellent arrangements, good halls, great rooms and arrangements, nice food. Must visit place and stay. Courteous staff
Well located, generally efficient service. Our only blip is that the 'deluxe family room' for two adults and two children has two double beds. I know that this is stated in room details (I hadn't checked carefully before hand) but most other hotels do offer the opportunity of twin beds and a double if asked. When I mentioned this , Clayton were not able to supply a twin bedded option. Our children do not share a bed particularly sensibly, I'm afraid.
Very good, peaceful and connected place. It seems to be in a castle. Good bar downstairs, with a lot of kind of beers. Rooms silent and clean.
At the moment here is no room service. Rooms are not cleaned , towels not changed , even had to ask at reception for toilet paper...
Was there after 2 weeks , it's huge improvement. I'm satisfied.
I'm here for a lunch party. Got here early and had a pot of tea and toast. The first photo is my eats which I was left to struggle to the table myself with all that, a coat, bag and umbrella and there weren't even any trays. Lacking in the finesse I would expect but prices very reasonable. The second photo is the table right beside me that still hasn't been cleared. Not too happy.
Accommodation and breakfast was lovely. Evening Meals were ok and very overpriced
We stayed on new years eve. The electric went off in the bathroom with the trip switch going. Phoned reception and was told someone would be up but no one arrived. My partner ended up climbing on a chair and finding the trip switch. We phoned for room service and received no answer. Reception said that would get restaurant to ring us which they eventually did. We made our order and waiting well over an hour for food which came up wrong and without one of the items. When the waiter returned with the item it was also wrong and we asked him to take it back and we would do without. Informs reception next morning who said money would be refunded back onto card and it wasn't. I made a complaint following this to management who apologized and offered us another stay at a reduced rate. We are yet to confirm a date but the management were prompt in their response which I commend.
So relaxibg and staff great breakfast so good and just all round great hotel
Lovely clean hotel. Enjoyed stay. Food was excellent. Rooms are comfortable but walls are thin. Heard alot of activity in the room next door. Carpark is very narrow and had hard time getting car down. Everything else was perfect. Friendly staff. Thank you.
We had a very fine experience at Bewley's. The staff were very helpful to us. The room was comfortable and the hotel is right on a main bus route to the center of Dublin, or, as I did, you can take a nice walk into the city in about 35 minutes. The food was fine, if not anything special. I would go back for sure.
Myself and four friends stayed here for the Dublin city marathon.Disappointing experience, no access to a shower afterwards , unless we paid for the room again. We have stayed in various hotels for the marathon in previous years and have always had access to a shower. We won't be returning. We ate in the restaurant the night before and service was very slow.
It s a nice hotel, the staff is very friendly, and the location is great. The beds are also really comfy!
When we arrived I realised I had booked the wrong date and I had a cold sweat but the girl at reception who was very nice cancelled that booking and rebooked for that night with no problem. The food and atmosphere were second to none and the rooms were warm and comfortable I would highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent value, very comfortable rooms, fresh crisp linens, would definitely recommend
Comfortable and spacious rooms
Friendly staff.
Comfortable room, great night sleep attentive staff.
Family friendly, helpful staff. Rooms, boiling hot but eventually controllable.
We were in town for events at Donnybrook and Aviva Stadiums. The Ballsbridge location was perfectly located between the two. The breakfast has a wide variety of food and getting a bus, cab or to the train is easy. We had the family room, the bunk beds are full beds which was a plus.
Great hotel for families rooms were clean friendly staff and i would recommend the food.
Staff excellent - very professional and helpful. Hotel in a great location and shared spaces very comfortable and modern. Rooms a little dated. No water or facecloths provided in room - not ideal when staying for a week.
Sub par hotel, we stayed in a suite which was like a fridge, many lights didn't work, radiators didn't work. The shower looked like it wasn't cleaned. The restaurant menu offered on the website isn't offered in the restaurant, your options are a buffet or a bar menu. At breakfast it took about 10 minutes to get the attention of a waitress to get tea. Breakfast is again a buffet and even with going to breakfast early much of the hot food was gone. There was also a queue of 20-30 people waiting for seats as the "restaurant" just isn't large enough. You may die of thirst in the bar as even with 5 staff serving about 15 tables you won't be able to get a drink for a good 10 minutes. Won't be staying again.
Historical building with beautiful architecture. A nice place for reasonable price and close to city centre by taxi or bus.
It's OK but a little bit old inside. The rooms need to be renewed.
Lovely room on 5th floor 554 and quiet too which was nice. Staff at reception superb. Bar staff equally excellent. My one small criticism, lose the shower curatins for panels. Always enjoy staying in your hotel. Wi-fi was non-existent also.
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! The rooms were spotless, food was delicious and the staff are amazing!
The dirtiest room in our lives, we had a trash on the floor and the dust everywhere, too bad that i can't attach a video, we suppose to get our money back but this hotel never returned our money. Disgrace hotel
