What can you say, it is a giant Frank Lloyd Wright wedding cake of a building! The technical theater aspects are awesome, save the distance between changing rooms and stage forcing costume changes just off stage and a lot of running around blind corners. However, as a guest you will never notice these design shortcomings. You may notice a lack of men's bathrooms on the ground floor on your first visit however. The signage is a bit misleading. Fortunately lost of helpful staff will be there to directly you.
It is and, beautiful, and historic theater; one of the best in a Valley of millions of people.
I highly recommend attending productions here.

Interesting architecture, but the remaining experience is less than desirable. Parking is expensive. Traffic is a nightmare on event nights. And inside you can't find any place to stand or sit without getting bumped into...the restrooms are crowded, the lobby is crowded and they purposely place concessions in the walk path, then you'll get bumped and stepped on again as everyone in your aisle walks by you because there's no center aisle. Frank Lloyd Wright was notorious for designing less-then-functional buildings, but there's no excuse that ASU couldn't provide a much better experience.

Love the shows they get and all the seats are great but During the last show I went to we sat in the balcony and when people got up to dance the floor was shaking which is a bit unnerving. Also the seats are very crammed in.

Nice very nice night out at the theatre.
However the venue needs updating as it is hard to get into the area. Traffic is very slow so go early or you will be " one of those people" coming in late . And there are no shortcuts to the middle except 45 people to interrupt..

Had a fantastic time seeing Wicked. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I only gave 4 stars because the seats were a little uncomfortable after a few hours. Otherwise a very enjoyable experience.

Clean facility. Organized. Sections and seat are clearly marked.

Beers are overpriced, which is to be expected. You re locked in and can t get drinks anywhere else.

Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. Parking sucks....

Otherwise a great venue.

The productions are fabulous and the staff is curteous but the traffic in and out is horrific!! When you go, be prepared to have about an hour or so of extra time in the car sitting in traffic. Often, the entrances to the lot are blocked off and woth construction, you have to drive around.

I am an ASU student and the Problem Security Guards they hired not only denied me access to park at the Apache garage and go to the gym that I pay to go to, but they also mouthed off and acted as if I was stupid to try and park in the Apache lot just because Aladdin is playing. As if I didn t park there every other Sunday... I cannot attest to the service in gammage, but I am very offput by the hostility of the problem security guards they had at the Apache garage.

Wicked final night at ASU Gammage -all views were hood; concession stands were better stocked than expected; prices reasonable; voices difficult to discern when more than 1 actor singing but overall a great place to see a performance.

Beautiful theater with hard to find bathrooms. The architecture and interior is very grand for a campus theater. Wheelchair friendly ramps abound. Why was it so hard for me to find a restroom. It seemed like I had to walk 100 yards to get to one. Oh well.

This is a great theater to go to! I went to see wicked with my mom and family friend and I had a blast. The ushers were nice and friendly and the sound in the top balconies was still great! It's an easy place to navigate and eventhough it gets quite crowded, it's still isnt to bad to get past people.

The Gammage probaby hasnt been updated since it opened in the 1960's and the seats are all pretty bad. Mostly obstructed views in the balcony. There are better local venues to spend your money on if they would book the Broadway productions elsewhere.

First and foremost, the audio is terrible. Speach is unintelligible (don't question my hearing; I have an audiogram that validates that's not the issue). I've given this auditorium its fair shot having seen no less than five performances here. Also, having seen several of those performances at other theaters, such as Centennial Hall, the emotion simply isn't the same. It doesn't matter where you sit - from VIP orchestra front row and center to balcony. Rumor has it they spent $1.5M to improve the audio - I can affirmatively tell you that was a waste of money.

Now, couple this with the lack of parking (my mother is handicap and we had to park nearly 10 minutes walking distance away in a parking lot on Myrtle Ave and 9th St), police barricading the main entrance with their truck such that drop-off wasn't even possible, the false sense of pathetic security (apparently a plastic grocery bag is somehow a weapon), the bathroom situation during intermission (ever been here? You know what I'm talking about), the overpriced drinks and long lines, and finally uncomfortable seats. I've never been to a theater with such bad seating.

This will be my last attendance at Gammage until serious improvements are made. It's simply not worth the price of admission. I'd rather drive to Tucson and enjoy the performance.

The recent work on Gammage freshened the facility, improved the sound and significantly expanded the women's restrooms. Not all of the design problems have been resolved - the west side of the building gets uncomfortably warm on summer afternoons and early evenings - but it is an interesting and historic performance space.

Don't agree to the $23.00 ticket. Agree to the $53.00 ticket. Just' sayin.

I have enjoyed all the productions I've seen here so far. The theater itself is showing it's age, it's acoustics aren't so wonderful... however I reserve judgement for when I am in a theater town before I belittle any venue for culture and entertainment, as the bottom line is IT'S HERE, and CROWDED. That bodes well in my opinion.

I continue to enjoy the productions staged here.

Went back to Gammage after seeing Phantom of the Opera back in 2002 for Hello Dolly on a Wednesday evening. Upper balcony front edge row seats this time. Great acoustics for this age of building. Some building maintenance was in need of attention with chipped plaster in spots. The stage accommodated many large set changes during this play. Enjoyed being here! Recommend that everyone come experience Gammage at least once!

Really nice music venue. We took a class field trip to see the orchestra play. Excellent acoustics and classic style. The students really enjoyed the performance and the staff was excellent. I would recomend any classical music lover to come check out a show. You won't be disappointed

The Phoenix area needs another place for Broadway shows. Gammage is over 50 years old. The seats are comfortable but probably half that. The front mezzanine area is cramped & narrow. As the 5th largest city in America you'd think there would be a better option. They obviously aren't putting the money back into the place.

I've enjoyed going to the gammage over the years and it is a marvelous place to enjoy a great show my first show was in 2001 seeing Cinderella and I also saw Cinderella last Christmas!

Just saw Book of Mormon last night. I was under the impression that Frank LLoyd Wright designed that venue with acoustics in mind, but it sure does not pan out. Although the musical was wonderful, it was quite difficult to understand the dialogue that was going on during the play. It may have been that some of the actors simply did not project their voices that well as I could understand some of them, but the young female actor had such a soft voice that I simply missed a lot of her lines. I was glad that I had pulled up a synopsis of the play prior to going as I feel I may have missed some of the points. I was in the 11th row. The lines for the women's rest room were horrendous. 8 stalls for at least 40 or 50 women waiting in line.

Family of 12 are VERY HOT and uncomfortable in the balcony.

The sound is also terrible you can barely hear. NOT The same experience our family had the last time we saw wicked at ASU.

Mentioned it to the ushers and it was handled by a female usher walking around with a thermometer telling everyone the temperature is fine. wow how ridiculous..

All Balcony bathrooms were out of service.

If they know the bathrooms are out of service for the entire balcony and the air-conditioning is not running to its fullest abilities then why are they charging customers full price when they re not getting the same experience as everyone else in the auditorium?

NOT A ENJOYABLE FAMILY OUTING TONIGHT @ ASU.

Maybe just staying with the Arizona Broadway Theater and the other good ones for all shows after this night..

I love coming to this theater to see all of the shows that come to Phoenix. Sometimes it is hard to hear depending on where you sit in the theater. It s not known for its acoustics. But it s definitely a great place to see shows, especially if it s your first time seeing it!

If you're disabled make sure you get seats that you don't have to climb stairs too. They don't even have railings to hold on to until you're half way up them. Getting into the theater is perfect, it's just getting to your seat.

I realize that Frank Lloyd Wright was the famed architect for this very unique & special building. My only request for a better customer experience won t affect the design - Please don t set the thermostat down to 50 degrees Fahrenheit for the concerts / shows ... Brrr!!

One of the best parts of ASU campus, located at the heart of ASU with a bus stop right in front and lots or parking space at back. The Auditorium itself is a piece of magnificence, the architecture is breathtaking and the area around it is also greaaat. A must visit place in Tempe.

I've been coming to Gammage Theater for a very long time. I've seen so many different shows here, and have enjoyed almost every single one. The venue isn't huge, which makes it feel much more comfortable and inviting. I've sat in many different seats from right in front of the orchestra to way up in the upper balcony and don't feel like there's a bad seat in the house. No matter your budget, you'll find a good seat here. My only complaint is entrance and exit to the main parking garage. It is a one way street that makes getting into and leaving a long ordeal. It's not enough in my opinion to warrant a loss of a star in the rating, however.
