State of Connecticut: Department of Children and Families Review

My grandson was taken from his unfit mother my son and I did everything we could to get him( we live in fl) they put him in a foster home( lady was amazing loving) took great care of my grandson but they decided to let him mom get him back. Now yrs later she ( grandson mother) called dcf and told them I don't want him take him and if his father ( my son ) didn't want hi y'all can keep him they dcf had my grand son since the 25th of may and called my son today may 31st. My son is trying to get answer to many questions and no one seems to have any answers yet my grandson is in a foster home and not with his father. My son has paid his child support for yrs now and his mother makes excuses to why my son can't see him. I'm sure dcf will give her back my grandson smdh. I don't get the system they are here to protect these kids.

Should be zero stars allowed to leave review. Awful government dept. What s the point of calling in a report if they don t do unannounced visits!?!?! Sure give the abusive parent time to clear up or get rid of evidence being reported. Psychological abuse is neglect AND ABUSE! DCF needs to be better educated!

I am putting 1 star so I can write a review otherwise they dont deserve any stars. The government needs to shut this place down as soon as possible as the people running this department and workers are incompetent. Children and families are suffering way more than ever because of DCF. These workers mistreat people, the people who contribute to their pay checks and expect them to do their jobs. Unfortunately, our families and children are suffering because of their inadequate investigations and undue intimidations.

The worst state agency in Connecticut!! All they do is remove kids and dump them in useless congregate care programs which don't work. The commissioner: Jolene Catz for Connecticut DCF needs to quit! She is inept and doesn't know what she is doing at all. Her philosophy is only focused on saving the state money by reducing and eliminating programs for vulnerable kids who need the services. And then Connecticut wonders why they have all these juvenile offenders stuck in jail by the age of 13 or 14?? Maybe instead of trying to cut corners and reduce state budget costs, Jolene Catz should get her act together and start reopening some of these needed programs for the kids and families of Connecticut! DCF Connecticut is the laughingstock of child welfare amongst all 50 states in our country!! Even other states with higher crime levels and higher populations has better child welfare then Connecticut..

Total incompetence reigns supreme over the most basic forms of common sense here at our wonderful departments of children and "families" in Connecticut!!!! Obvious sarcasm of course, considering how our current department of children and families actually does nothing more than just tearing families apart with over and over again!!!!! Burned out, over worked and over stressed caseworkers working under an ineffective and business-only focused commissioner who doesn't seem to have the slightest clue of what our state's children REALLY NEED are destroying our families!!! Under the current commissioner's directions, burned out and over worked social workers are ordered to just stick any child into any facility or foster home, regardless of whether it even a good fit or not!!!!!! Our Connecticut department of children and families actually has one of the worst track records in the entire nation when it comes to quality of care for our kids!!!! These are my opinions but I know I not the only one who stands alone. All the department of childrena nd families ever seem to be concerned with is "what the bottom line" to our state's budget? Doesn't matter if children's lives suffer in the process because Connecticut commissioner for department of children and families wants to try to reach her national benchmark numbers!!!! Nothing else matters to Connecticut department of children and families except jamming as many children as they possibly can into already over-crowded programs and facilities which is not what our children really need!!!! Take this as a wake up call, Connecticut department of children and families to stop playing with families and children's lives!!!!! Give our state's families and children what they really need which is: strip down all the pointless and over-paid bureaucracy at department of childrens and families headquarters/offices, and instead using that money to open and create programs and facilities which actually make Connecticut families and children stronger!!!! Isn't that what your mission is: to make all our families stronger???? Then why are you just continuing with lip service instead of actually taking action????!!!!!

This state agency is just a total waste of our taxpayer dollars in my opinion! DCF definitely does not improve families and children at all. If anything, they get in the way of making families better. There is constant bureaucracy among overpaid (and under worked) state workers who most of them really don't care about the families at all. Ever since commissioner Joette Katz took over DCF, things have gone way downhill. The commissioner of DCF and their senior administration are totally incompetent and have absolutely no idea what they are doing! Can someone please regulate DCF better and start holding them accountable? Our taxpayers and citizens of Connecticut deserve so much better.

Horrible people do not listen you take kids away that shouldn't be. They brake up families that are good parents that might have had situations out of there control and won't listen to explanations and then the kids suffer unnecessarily it's just totally wrong from what I see. And kids who should be taken away are not to me DCF makes up there own rules and don't give a Damn about family or kids just a pay check and don't do there jobs right they don't get all the facts from everyone involved before they take kids away. To me the system is a waste of tax payer money when it's done this way .And the ones that suffer are the good kids and all there family
