Justin Horne Review of ASU Gammage

First and foremost, the audio is terrible. Speach is unintelligible (don't question my hearing; I have an audiogram that validates that's not the issue). I've given this auditorium its fair shot having seen no less than five performances here. Also, having seen several of those performances at other theaters, such as Centennial Hall, the emotion simply isn't the same. It doesn't matter where you sit - from VIP orchestra front row and center to balcony. Rumor has it they spent $1.5M to improve the audio - I can affirmatively tell you that was a waste of money.
Now, couple this with the lack of parking (my mother is handicap and we had to park nearly 10 minutes walking distance away in a parking lot on Myrtle Ave and 9th St), police barricading the main entrance with their truck such that drop-off wasn't even possible, the false sense of pathetic security (apparently a plastic grocery bag is somehow a weapon), the bathroom situation during intermission (ever been here? You know what I'm talking about), the overpriced drinks and long lines, and finally uncomfortable seats. I've never been to a theater with such bad seating.
This will be my last attendance at Gammage until serious improvements are made. It's simply not worth the price of admission. I'd rather drive to Tucson and enjoy the performance.
