I live in a property in Illinois and this is the WORST property management company ever. Our property management does nothing. It's truly a joke. They don't maintain things properly, I have HUGE pine trees in the common area in back of my unit that are so overgrown they are growing into the decks and staircases...i am waiting for one of them to bust through my patio window. Complain...nothing is done. My front door has needed painting in three years....nothing.... Told me to do it myself. I have a big divot and drop off by an evergreen off my patio and God forbid you walk out in the dark and hit it...you can break an ankle...I guess they don't care if they get hit with a lawsuit since we the homeowners have to pay for the insurance on the property and building. I wish we had a different management company. In the winter, you have to battle to get your driveways and sidewalks plowed...they don't even plow the sidewalks which is not incompliance with our village regarding snow removal. There are dead trees, shrubs, no mulch to fill in the dirt.... It's a huge mess. If you are looking to buy a condo or townhome....and Associa is the property management company....run....find another home.

Associa is the managing company for my neighborhoo...

Associa is the managing company for my neighborhood's HOA and it has been a miserable experience since moving in three years ago. From the "processing fees" of $20 to simply MAKE payments, to the "special assessment" fees of $375 and $500 that no one really knows who approved... some lady named Maya? I am pretty sure my account has been sent to collections due to these "special assessments," though, we have received emails stating that the fees are being reversed? Also, I feel I should mention that these fees were to rip down a functioning surrounding brick wall and rebuild (why, not really sure)... but fast forward, there is now cheap plywood lined where the old wall was torn down. So now that row of houses' backyards are essentially exposed to the traffic on the road directly behind. I am thankful that I am not in one of those houses as I have two large dogs who spend a great deal of time outside as well as a young toddler who also loves the backyard. It is beyond infuriating to receive all these absurd fees and see absolutely no explanation, etc. Further, when I've attempted to call to resolve the issue - no answer and no return of my call. I intend to move in the next year and can only hope that my house being associated with this miserable company will not impact the sale. I will also strongly avoid any neighborhoods I come across associated in any form with Associa.

This company manages the HOA of the community I live and, according with my experience with them, I would give them zero starts, but google wont allow me. If depended on me, I would never hire them, even if they worked for free. They are absolutely careless with customers. They never return e-mails or calls. I wish I could understand what my HOA pays them for.

I am a new customer of Associa in the South. I was about to set up my monthly HOA payment on the company's website to have it direct-debited from my checking account. To my utter surprise, ***Associa wants to charge a $2.95/mo. fee for the privilege of dipping into my checking account*** to take their money.

This is the absolutely backwards! I allow many companies to direct debit (even my mortgages!) and the companies are usually thrilled. In fact, for my student loan, I even get a discount!

Why would I pay more for direct-debit? Sorry, but I'm going to process the payment old-fashioned way through bill pay and have it sent to a PO Box and have an employee have to handle it unless they reverse this decision to charge for direct-debit.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

Ms. JILL ERICKSON; an employee of SOMERSET ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT, managing director of The Metropolitan in Dallas, Texas.
Ms. Erickson, the most unintelligent, unprofessional, incompetent individual whose poor conducts are protected by the president of the company, Mr. Al WYLES who promotes aggressive bullying tactics, MAFIA like attitude to cover up the company's corrupt and abusive behavior.

Punishing the owners whom HOA pays the salary of the management.
Her intentional negligence in responding and attending to resolve the problems under the instruction from the president of the company is intended to force the owners to sell and move out in which has been an ongoing pattern for some time to flush out anyone who questions their authority.

In addition they encourage the HOA committee to follow the enforcement of the abusive conducts.
The Somerset Association Management conducts under the umbrella of the ASSOCIA in which provides real estate management services through out the country. Associa's lack of quality and care to over look the customer care and services and correct them results in ongoing unpleasant living quality.

My experience is among many in which I have also submitted to: THE TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE (Reference# CGS-176511), THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION (Reference# 96391110), THE COMMISSION OF HUMAN RELATIONSHIP, THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (Reference# CAS-7105831).
Thank you-

Horrible horrible horrible. If you're planning on moving into a community where Homeside properties or associa is associated with your HOA... RUNNNN! I've never felt with such unprofessional individuals who do not care one bit about anything other than collecting their yearly dues. I've tried to reach my property manager for months with no returned calls or e mails. I've left message after message and still nothing. We have safety concerns that are the responsibility of our HOA and they could care less. They will be the reason we sell our home. We receive the cheapest services available and get less and less every year. They do not enforce any of the rules for our community. I'm warning you, this company is an absolute joke. I honestly don't know how they are still in business.

This review is for your branch located in Toronto, Maple Ridge Community. The manager accounting Tracy Robinson has bad attitude, work load is very high and employees are unhappy. An internal survey of employees led by the president is useless. Associa we expect you to do an independent survey in confidence to the employees as employee are afraid of loosing there job. Discover for yourself. We expect better from you.

I'd rather someone pull my toenails off one-by-one while blasting "Never Gonna Give You Up" on repeat than interact with this company again. Truly an abysmal experience. They couldn't have been worse. You pay your monthly/yearly HOA dues, and then pay additional money when you need something, and then they give you blanket statements like "7-10 days to process". All I needed was someone to sign a paper!!! When I asked my processor to do it for me, she told me I had to pay her more money to get it done faster. Borderline extortion.

These reviews are all accurate, prepare to have the worst experience of your life with these people.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS. We don't have a maintenance schedule etc., etc. etc. I am an agent and I deal with other town home and condominium properties and non that I have dealt with have been neglected like the one I live in. I think the information I just received is what we have needed from our management company. I understand there is board but that board is made up of volunteers and they do need a professional efficient management company. I hope we can take this information that was sent to guide us in what we need to do to make our buildings healthy and beautiful as they should be.

Reading over the prior posted reviews, it it apparent that Associa is at least consistent. "It" claims to be a property Management Company, yet they do little more than collect dues owed and subtract their substantial fees. I've had the pleasure of dealing with the property manager(s) (numerous) and corporate managers from their Texas office. In these dealings the only action that they responded to was a result of numerous Home owners contacting them continuously, consistently and presenting the grounds for legal action. IMHO, Associa has a business plan and an interest in maintaining the status qua, pointing fingers at other entities and secrecy.

Another telling trait is the cut an paste responses to the reviews posted below. Tell us again Associa, how much you care about customer service... Please... tell us....

The associa is in charge of parklane townhomes. Erlax and Robert are not doing anything but buying up as many properties as they can. They go up in the hoa yearly. It s now 650 with no working pool and poorly done renovations. They starting painting the outside and stopped. So now some are blue and some are still tan. They will tow your car and guest cars non stop. The manager in he office is super rude. And they are taking advantage of the spnaish and older people that own them. They are scamming people out of hoa money and not fixing anything. It s a shame that this is legal to do in America.

Associa HCM is our property management and they ar...

Associa HCM is our property management and they are abysmal! Our manager placed $200,000 in a money market account with another association's name on it! It required intervention by the comptroller of the State of Texas to get that money back for us and it was also placed in the wrong classification of account. It should have been making 1.15%, not .1%. It was finally fixed but it cost us some interest money.

Our manager was told to move two CDs into another institution upon maturity in March and April of this year. Those, totaling $78,000, went into the unclaimed money department at the State of Texas in July because she didn't! We still don't have access to that money nor the interest they should have been earning since their maturities. We're not signatories to our own accounts, so they are the only ones who have access and the best they do is tell us "they're working on it" - 6 months later!

The manager will cite one homeowner for a violation and give them fines but not do the same to the next door neighbor with almost the same violation, throughout the complex! It's going to cause a lawsuit against the board.

We have a substantial invoice for repairs by a small contractor from October 19th which is still not even approved for payment, 4 weeks later! They make late payments to our vendors frequently.

Do yourselves a favor and find another company who will be responsive to your needs.

Save yourself the trouble! Over six years, we cycled through managers who would eventually get burnt out by the company and leave. Great staff are hired, then within weeks they are overloaded and seemingly measured by efficiency and not relationships, thus ironically they end up failing miserably at both, wasting everyone's time in the process while issues still remain outstanding.

to whom it may concern
this is without a doubt the worse management co I have ever dealt with in my entire adult life
we are here in Miami, where this group completely disregards owners requests, they seem only to take care the board members problems even the personal ones but the rest of the owners residents can turn blue in the face without responses
they completely disregard our by laws, county laws even state laws
the group of their favor is of course the board ,they have the power to fire them so those 5 and their friends get immediate response to any problem
everybody else well you can imagine
please think twice and then find someone else to manage your property

In silver spring Maryland, what I have experienced...

In silver spring Maryland, what I have experienced is the totally nightmare with Associa. The HOA fee increased 4 times in 1 year and 9 months, but the owner was deliberately not notified, resulting in the balance due in HOA account. When the owner's account is in arrears, instead of notifying the owner according to the policy, the Associa increases the annual budget of the collection (42.58%), inviting the collection company to conduct additional extortion from the owner. Once you receive the bill from the collection company, the nightmare begins. You have to pay more than the HOA difference and arrears to continue to pay your HOA fees, or your bills will start to grow. Associa will refund your normal HOA fee and inform you that your account has been transferred to the collection company and nothing can be done unless pay in full. When you ask Associa why they don't notify the owner, they say The Collection Policy allows The Association to send late notice, but does not require it to do so . And because the money they collect is not called a fine , you have no right to a hearing. Finally, until you are overwhelmed, or get blackmailed, or spend the extra money, time, and health to Sue them to end the bullying. This is my real experience, welcome to confirm.

I'm on the architectural committee of my neighborhood and interact with the community manager quite often. I have lived in many different HOAs, managed by competing firms, and Associa is, by far, the best management company I've ever worked with. If any of my neighbors are angry about something, they blame Associa, but the reality is that Associa is simply trying to carry out the wishes of the board, and the board is trying to uphold the by-laws of our community. Most people don't understand that the policies they fight against aren't Associa's policies, they're the policies of our own HOA. They do a good job in a thankless industry.

Terrible. Our neighborhood was managed by them. They were so tough on late payments that I did an auto payment to them annually, just to ensure they got it. When the neighborhood moved management companies because these guys were so bad, my check went to their office. They are refusing to give me the money back even thought they no longer manage the property. i do not think they are trying to profit, that would imply some some form of unethical intelligence, I just think they are so inept they cannot manage an unusual transaction.

Exceptional and outstanding are the only words needed to describe the many years of service provided by Associa to our condominium community. Joe Price, in collaboration with his very knowledgeable and customer friendly Associa team have been able to greatly streamline and maximize the efficiency of our community management function. One of Associa s greatest strengths is in their ability to truly listen to the needs of our community and then act upon those needs. However, and even more importantly, it is the honesty and integrity of the all the people within the Associa organization that stands above all others within the industry!

I paid over $980 for resale docs and current dues letters from Associa. Even after paying these fees Associa illegally pulled money from my bank after I sold my house.

I then issued a fee to Associa to pay me for the time it's taking me to sort this out and the rep is not paying the fees or talking to the right person.

Associa needs to own up to fees accessed to them and pay them immediately.

Worst customer service company I've ever experienced. It seems they just take homeowners' money and don't do anything. They've misplaced my HOA payment and now I'm receiving delinquency notices and when I try to talk to someone, they send me to voicemail. Why is this company in business and why are we forced to submit to such terrible service as homeowners stuck in an HOA we have no control over? When we bought the house two years ago, we were told the HOA was $100/yr. It's now $400/yr with NO SERVICES. Our board of directors is frustrated with them too, because they aren't taking proper care of the community areas.

I'm going to have to agree with so many of the oth...

I'm going to have to agree with so many of the other individuals who have posted reviews of Associa. As an entity that cares about its clients--namely, the residents of Associa communities--it doesn't. Whoever came up with the idea to corporatize homeowners associations was a financial genius . . . and a pure scam artist. The homeowners association in the neighborhood where I live does nothing. The local association office staff are as pleasant and as helpful as something you'd see in a zombie movie (and probably as intelligent as well). Example: I live on a cul-de-sac. A few years ago, we had some significant snowfall. I suppose the local association's office called someone to come out and plow our neighborhood. Well, the idiot who did the plowing pushed all of the snow right up in front of mine and my neighbor's mailboxes. There was so much snow that there was absolutely no way the USPS was going to deliver mail. I called the office to complain about it. Their answer? "Well, you live on a cul-de-sac, so that's what's going to happen. Where else is he going to put the snow?" When I suggested that the plowman put it in the MIDDLE of the cul-de-sac, they just huffed. It wasn't until I sent a couple of emails to them threatening to charge them for my time if I had to dig out the mailboxes that they finally relented and called the plowman back out to move the piles. And then, of course, there's the automatic $25.00 late fee assessment if your homeowners association fees don't make it to their office in PHOENIX, ARIZONA on time. (Really? Phoenix? It used to be in the nearby town where there local office is situated.) I pay my bills, I pay them timely, but I cannot control the USPS. To automatically charge a $25.00 late fee is pretty close to theft. Granted, if you ask nicely enough (e.g., grovel) they MAY waive it. Nevertheless, the whole notion of a late fee that's almost half of the (already high) $55.00/month fee is ridiculous. When I move from here, never again will I live in a home that's part of a homeower's association. And if circumstances force me to do so, it definitely will not be an Associa Corporate homeowners association.

I lease a home in the Avalon subdivision in Wylie,...

I lease a home in the Avalon subdivision in Wylie, Texas. Principal Management is the hired management company. First of all, it would be nice if the manager assigned to our subdivision even did her job and did regular inspections. Instead, she hides behind the receptionist and her voicemail. Even sending pictures of HOA violations doesn't get her to take any action. She tries in earnest, I believe, to write a sensible letter, but fails miserably. To think that the HOA is charged a fee for each and every piece of correspondence generated by this inept individual is outright highway robbery. In addition to that, the only thing worse than Principal is the HOA board, all a bunch of minimally-educated retired people who flex their muscles in favor of their favorites, while unfairly discriminating against others. The president needs to go ASAP, as his superficial concern for aesthetic beauty in the neighborhood falters significantly, as driving by his house means seeing wolmanized wood swings he assembled showcased in his front yard with tacky plastic FOR SALE signs affixed to them. I'm sure that is something the bylaws really advocate. People need to band together and file class action against this highly inept and discriminatory business. Despite its perception that its agents can hide from accountability, I can promise there would be a favorable outcome in the jurisdiction of a judge. Let's face it, the concept of a HOA is a pretty useless waste of time. It's all based on subjectivity and discretion, not hard and fast bylaws and rules. Has anyone taken a look at the Better Business Bureau site to see that Associa has hundreds of complaints in the last three years? I'd certainly be ashamed to be associated with any dealings with such an under-handed organization.

ATTENTION HOAs: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY -- BAD, BAD NEWS!!!!!

Associa is one of the worst management companies I have worked with. They hire whatever company they want without verifying that the company provides a good service at a reasonable cost. They are extremely hard to get a hold of and don't reliably return calls/emails. If a company does poor work they don't put in effort to resolve the issue. Stay away from this company! They obviously don't care about the communities they work for.

We have no parties, we have no newsletter, we have no committees, we also have no money . Oh well. And, most owners do not read our budget or our reserve fund, they only typically look at the maintenance fee increase.

The HOA includes the Guidelines, Rules and Regulations, of which we have never received copies of and we purchased our home in June 2019. We have lived in two other communities and were provided copies of our HOA Guidelines (Rules and Regulations). Both HOAs gave us a notebook with them inside and both were very well run associations! When homeowners are given the HOA community guidelines to follow, homeowners are much more likely to follow them. Neighbors will at times, hesitate to report those not following the guidelines, as wanting to get along with their neighbors and it should not depend on them reporting it. So, having these guidelines in hand, results in much less rule violations for the association to handle, happier neighbors and nicer well kept communities!

Associa and their staff have been absolutely negli...

Associa and their staff have been absolutely negligent in their duties as property managers. Associa runs the property management at the Midtown 2 condo in Midtown Miami. I am the owner of one of the units. Aside from the hundreds of other issues I have had with them over the years, I have had water flooding into my unit for 8 months now and Associa has not fixed it and has stopped responding to my inquiries all together. That is 8 months of paying my outrageous condo fees, yet there is an entire room of my condo that is unusable, moldy and floods every time it rains hard. This is my 3 year old son's room so he lost his room. His bed and toys all had to be moved to other rooms and he no longer has a room to sleep or play in.

I notified Associa in writing on Feb 9th 2018 that water was leaking into my unit. It is now October 27th and the issue is not fixed. Last month they finally came with engineers to locate the problem after 7 months. In order to do that, they ripped out the walls from an entire side of the room. Their engineers said they found the leak and will be in touch to fix it. That was over a month ago and I have not heard anything back since. So now I have the walls ripped off my room and it still floods when it rains. I have contacted the condo management as well as Associa and have not received any word back in over a month. I contacted Andrew Reina who is supposedly the one who oversees the Midtown 2 building for Associa but he has not returned any of my emails, phone calls or messages left. The entire Midtown 2 management staff and Andrew Reina have all been grossly negligent in their duties. Associa has proved time and time again that they do not care about the service they provide or the owners in their buildings. They just want you to keep paying your condo fees, even if you have a flooded room with the walls ripped out caused by a leak in their building!

I received a bill for 7 months of special assessment fees (which were not in my disclosure) that hadn't been billed because of a system error. Suddenly I got a 20 day noticed to pay 1.5k. For three weeks I called this company and was told I would receive a call back in 2-3 days. Having finally been fed up, I refused to hang up until I spoke with management. Finally I got my only communication with manage via the secretary who told me, "just contact your local HOA". So the people that want almost 2 grand from me can't even take the time to talk to me and explain? Usually when someone has a legitimate claim to take money from me, they try a little harder.

You were right with your suggestions they just didn t go far enough. Getting together annually is not often enough to develop community relationships.

It can be intimidating and also may not feel important to attend a social or HOA meeting. I try to reach all newcomers and invite them to go with us or plan to meet us at a social event. Recently I asked one couple their thoughts on whether that was beneficial. Their reply was that they would not have attended in the absence of the personal invitation. There is a big difference between notifying newcomers of an event and inviting them to attend with you.

I made an appointment with one of their reps In Houston in an attempt to reconcile my bill. (The manager who assured me we could work something out left out of the blue.) She was rude, inflexible, uninformed, late for my appointment, and reeked of tobacco. My statement is barely comprehensible, and the Pineloch Comm. This HOA seems to forget that I am the customer and do not pay to be yelled at. A horribly run organization.

I've lived in many places with HoA's and I'm ok about having an HoA but this has got to be the worst one I've ever dealt with. Great houses, great location. If you took away this HoA, it would be a perfect place to live. I mean look how many negative reviews they have. Their board members are pretty much God's in the sense that they do things and get away with things the rest of us don't. Next house I buy (because I will be selling first chance because of them) won't have them as an HoA.

The worst association ever. I have never ever been...

The worst association ever. I have never ever been treated like this before. They take your money and never do anything for you. We have paid every payment on time and have never missed a single payment. We tried to go swimming in our own pool that we make payments on and they denied me saying I needed to come back on a designated time to pick up the passes. The times to pick up those passes are for an hour each day at random times, which pretty much do not accommodate us at all and their response was we do not work on other peoples time. We ran in to this issue last year and the person taking care of this "Jill Harper" NEVER EVER picks up phone calls. She came here to tell me she is not going to give me my passes because it is not one of the dates listed. I work in a nursing home and work 6:45am to 3:30pm so I am not able to pick the passes up. She would not let my brother of I swim this memorial day weekend. She said i have ro wait until Tuesday from 1-2pm which I can not go to since I work. Associa Chicagoland does not care about their residents! This is unfair! She is racist because I am not white! This community deserves to be shut down. We do not deserve this kind of treatment and will be selling our home very soon. I feel bad for anyone that has to tolerate this kind of treatment. I will be filing a report with the BBB as well as any other company that can give this company a bad name.

This is the most worthless "property management" I've ever dealt with. These crooks steal $216 per year from every home in my community and they do not use a single dime of it to enhance or maintain the property value of my neighborhood. Bill Chance is the rudest, smug bastard i've ever spoken to in my life. I wish there was a local office so that I could visit Miss Chance and see if he is as tough in person as he acts on the phone.

I live in the Indianapolis area. Associa is manages the Clubhouse in the Condos I live in.
I've received horrible service. The associate that is responsible for leasing the clubhouse in my area is extremely unprofessional. I'm guessing she works part time now seeing as tho I still have not received my deposit from a rental in September. I spoke with the supervisor over the associate and She assured me that the deposit would be returned. Nothing has been returned. Surely this is not how an agreement should work. I'm extremely disappointed in Associa.

I think you need to read these blogs since maintenance of our development is so bad. We told you what needed to be done, cost etc and none of it was done. Don t tell us about maintenance until you uphold your end of the maintenance deal.
