Under no circumstances should you hire this company: they are dishonest bordering on criminal. First, they reneged on their proposed 10% discount and $528.00 "coupon" offered so that we would sign with them. All moves are impossible to precisely estimate, and they took advantage of the extra weight to charge $.80/pound, which was a higher rate than quoted, and of course, no discount or coupon. They wanted to charge $1225 for packing materials, having packed only 21 boxes, but did discount that by about half because even they recognized it was an unreasonable charge. The movers damaged my front step, and the claims department argued that there was no proof that they were responsible even though I sent cell phone photos that day, which clearly showed the concrete chunk sitting right there, and the movers all agreed that they were responsible - extra cost to me: $350.00. Then, THEY LOST A BOX. There were 77 boxes and 1 is missing. Their offer: $.80/pound, but how much do linens and family heirlooms weigh? And they actually said that having "1 missing box would be considered a successful move by almost any person doing a cross country move." I certainly do not consider losing a box of my belongings a "successful" move. While the packers were acceptable in a anti-social sort of way, and the unpackers were quite friendly, the home office staff is friendly until it's time to pay. And what can you do? They require payment in full before they will unload your things. Any disputes go to a claims department to be resolved later, and then the tone changes. It has proven to be impossible to resolve this in any way that does not leave me feeling exceeding sorry that I dealt with them. They will cover NONE of the additional costs to me. The only bright thought is that my review will save someone else from making the terrible mistake that I did.

I couldn t be happier with the local moving services provided by American Relocation. I have moved 6 times over the past 7 years spanning 4 different states, and this was BY FAR my best experience. The three men that came were on time, professional, and they were transparent about all costs. I noticed some of the reviews mention the added costs of tape, boxes, and packaging certain items, but in my experience, this is typical of a moving company. They were also the cheapest quote of 4 comparable local movers that I contacted, so the lower hourly price offsets the extra costs anyway. The alternatives are to 1) buy your own tape, bubble wrap, and have extra boxes for them to use; or 2) hire a few guys with a low hourly rate and accept that your things will not be taken care of properly.
With each moving company that I have used, the men arrive and work hard, but they usually tire out getting to the new location. I have had movers decide to unload everything to one room and call it a day, drop things, and carelessly bang furniture moving up and down the stairs. The point person for the three men, George, was phenomenal in directing the crew. They wrapped all furniture with total care and communicated very well with each other when moving stuff to/from the truck. We just moved to our forever home, but I would use them again without hesitation!!

I was extremely nervous to make a commitment, because I'd heard and read many horror stories about movers,. Even after researching and researching , I was still very stressed. I did not want a quote for one price and get a different cost on delivery.
American Relocation kept their promise of calling me the night before or morning of the move for final confirmation. The movers called to say they're on their way and gave an ETA. They arrived on time. The guys were great...more than great...they were excellent! My boxes and bags were already packed. However, they wrapped all the furniture and took every stitch on the truck. Everything arrived in excellent condition.
I was charged more because of the extra boxes required for my Tv, etc. which he informed me before he wrapped or boxed anything, My initial quote was $571. I paid $200 more plus tip (about $100). I think the required minimum tip is 10% per mover. I was fine with the extra cost because I was informed once he came in and assessed the move. They did excellent work.
I will definitely use them again and I have referred them to others.

The price they quote will NOT include everything they charge and you will not be advised until after they have your possessions in their possession. The movers showed up on time for the first part of my move however did not show up for the second scheduled part of the move, even though I had received confirmation. I was then charged additional storage fees until they were able to reschedule delivery. I was not able to reach anyone to find out what happened to the scheduled delivery even though I was assured that weekends were business as usual.
Dealing with the accounting department after they have overcharged was fruitless. Choose another company, these guys sound good up front, but they will overcharge and underdeliver.
These guys made my year!! They arrived early, solved every issue and obstacle we had with the shipping company. We were finished in half the time expected as they worked quickly and efficiently!!! I recommend them as movers and unloaders. Although they're located in Baltimore, they came and took care of everything in Lorton with only 1 day's notice. Andre and his crew are simply the best!!! :)

DO NOT use this company. I moved memorial day weekend only 7 miles to the Canton area in Baltimore. After providing an accurate inventory of items to be moved, American Relocation quoted 3 hours. The job ended up taking 8 hours costing over double the quoted price! The movers worked at a slow pace and I ended up having to work extremely hard moving stuff to try to cut down on time and costs. Not only were the movers extremely inefficient, but they forgot several items on the truck. It was a nightmare trying to track down the missing items. Overall, it was an extremely disappointing experience and I will not use them again. I tried to give customer service the benefit of the doubt that they would compensate me or reduce the total price. However, they were very unresponsive and unaccommodating so I thought this review was necessary so the market knows what they are getting into before using American Relocation services.

I just got moved from Washington DC to Baltimore the team was professional and friendly they moved my 2 bedroom house and they protect all my furniture with blankets i received them in perfect condition and I just pay extra to pack my china cabinet they give me an estimate of 7 hours for 3 guys and they finish in 6 hours. I'm very happy for they really helped me a lot with the move thank you American Relocation!!!

Do NOT hire American Relocation Company. We had a nightmare experience with them.
For starters- They were late to arrive to move our stuff out of our apartment, then they took smoke breaks during the move out process which was frustrating since we were paying them by the hour. After they finally finished loading up the truck and were on their way to our new apartment, they called and told me they left their cell phone in our old apartment and had to turn back to go get it. They lost an hour of time retrieving this cell phone. Because of all of these delays we were not able to move our belongings into our new apartment due to restrictions our building set on how late people could move in. This time restriction was communicated to the moving company when we first booked with them so the fact they still did not get our belongings there on time was unacceptable. They then told us they could not store our belongings for us, so we had to pay twice as much money in order to book a storage unit and new movers for the next day. Then when they didnt show up at the time they said they would be there, I contacted the movers and they told me their truck broke down on the side of the road. The movers did not show up for another 3 hours and they nearly missed the window to move our stuff into our storage unit. They then tried to charge us for an additional three hours of moving service and also were disappointed when we did not offer a tip. It was absolutely ridiculous and they should never be booked.

We went with American Relocation because our friend recommended them. We used this company two times. First we moved local and second we moved to California. I don't remember who gave me the first local quote but it was a great price and the move didn't take more than the estimated time. For California move Crystal gave me a fast honest quote on the phone and answered all my questions, she was very nice and patient with all my hundreds questions I had. We asked 4 guys, the were on time, worked quickly, efficient and were very respectful of my belongings. They did an inventory list and put sticker over all my boxes and furniture and gave me a copy also. We received all our furniture in great condition in less than 10 days, WOW I was surprised, I even didn't expect to receive our belongings so fast. I gave a good tip to the movers because they did a great job. Thank you guys!!! I appreciate everything you did for us.

The driver was inexperienced. He hit our new home roof gutter while backing his truck causing an expensive repair cost.

Moving from Virginia to Texas, my stuff came in about 7 business days. All in great shape and Chris and Robert were fantastic. Super friendly and easy to work with! Highly recommend.
Submitted a request for a quote and was called back by someone who I could barely understand. Was told that the price for 3 hours would be $460. This is not a bad price, however the company is in Baltimore about 40 minutes from my house and they wanted to charge me for the drive time to my house. Telling me I have to pay for a 3rd or more of my booked time while your drivers take their time through traffic to get to me is a joke. Stay in your county with that nonsense.
Very unhappy with my experience with American Relocation. Used the service to move my items from DC to the Boston area. They were not upfront in detailing all the costs associated with the move. While I was given an initial estimate, I was not aware of the additional costs associated with the move. I was charged more money for each box used as well as the use of packaging materials (such as moving blankets and tape). The extra costs amounted to an extra around $400 (the original estimate was $1300). I felt blind-sighted and taken advantage of.
In addition to these issues, I also had problems with the moving process. While the actual movers were very kind, the customer service representatives started out very helpful but then became unresponsive as it got closer to the end of my delivery window. My delivery eventually came a day after the end of the estimated delivery day. I was told I'd be made aware of an impending shipment 2-3 days ahead, but I was given less than 24 hour notice. Additionally, some things in my shipment arrived slightly damaged (felt pads on my glass tabletops removed; one frame broken).
Overall, I'm very unhappy with my experience with American Relocation. I would not recommend this service.

I will give you the list of issues and facts about the out of state move that this company did to my furniture and theft of my stuff. And the actual email dismissing me and my property after many pictures and written down on claims paperwork that was given to the company. Please don t trust you properly with this company. I ve hired a lawyer and I m taking this company to court on civil lawsuit!!!

On the day of my move the drivers were extremely late without notice - in fact, the only reason I knew why they had not shown up in my time frame is because I called them - not because they were considerate enough to call me...& when I called I received the reply "I don't know what to tell you" from Michelle... the reason they say is because it was snowing however proper preparation prevents poor performance - they sent an extra man as compensation they said... anyway, the fees at the end and insurance were not explained / outlined truthfully before I paid to lock the contract in causing me to be charged much more than I signed for by hundreds of dollars, they contracted 3 hours of labor and one hour of travel time however I was charged for much more (my time frame was originally 1-3 and they arrived at 615p and finished at 11p taking longer to arrive at the final destination than what was showing on their map - arriving 35 min after they said they would), and they completely broke my 49 inch LG smart TV that I paid to wrap and be fragile with.
After emailing for 2 weeks to get the television replaced, Victor - the owner of the company - finally reached out via phone call to apologize and replaced my LG 49 inch Smart TV sending me the funds but first complaining because I gave an honest review of my experience online and saying that he would otherwise only give me $50 to replace the television that his team ruined. (blank stare) Their "insurance" he said is liability only, SO unless YOU ASK FOR AN UPGRADE OF INSURANCE UP FRONT (although it is marketed as a fully insured service), they will not offer it or mention it, and thus if they break your stuff, you will get a few coins towards the replacement not the full amount even if it cannot be fixed. Originally the salesperson said the move was fully insured and confirmed replacement of damaged goods when asked. Apparently this was not the contract I was given. Not a great experience as a customer.
Regardless, Victor apologized and his replacing the television was appreciated. There is definitely lots of room for improvement with the customer service and transparency with customers of this company. Crystal H. was also very kind, responsive and helpful in getting the tv situation rectified. The television that they broke being FULLY replaced AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN is the ONLY reason I gave 3 stars.
Absolutely terrible moving service, don't use this company! They underpriced the move over the phone and it ended up being 2x the quoted cost first of all. During the move they broke an expensive guitar amp and left an enormous scratch right in the middle of the foyer floor, which now reminds me of my terrible move-in day every time I see it. I was given some money back, but it was nowhere close to what the associated costs were. Also the movers got in a fist fight in the truck over a few dollars in tips! I called the police and had to deal with them on my doorstep for several hours late at night when I was trying to get settled in my new home. It was a really scary situation for me and my gf because if they could literally fight each other over $5, we had no idea if they would come back to our new home to confront us for anything. It was also humiliating to move into a new neighborhood and have an incident which required several police cars to come to our cul-de-sac and stay for hours. Then afterward when I was working with the GM (pretty sure that's right) about this situation, I was called an "ugly person" because I was trying to pay their company less (because they suck). I never cursed at this person or called them names. This company is the worst top to bottom, do not use! If I could give them 0 stars I would.

My gf had called and inquired about moving a couple big items for our move from a storage unit to an apartment a few miles away. She was told we would be charged by the hour and to send an inventory list. We did so and previously moved all the other belongings ourselves. The day we had the movers scheduled, the staff arrived 3 hours late due to another move taking longer than expected. We were asked to sign some documents, as expected, I assumed were authorizing payments and what not. The staff was extremely nice and careful with our belongings. It took about 2 hours to move everything. Of course we tipped everyone and provided bottles water. Then was charged almost $800! After we were under the impression that this would be about $300. We called the company several times and left messages. It took a little over a week for someone to answer the phone and was told the complete opposite of what we were originally told. We explain the inconvenience of the late arrival and only needed 2 hours. Nothing was said, the guy was just like "oh well next time read the contract you sign" Which in hindsight is very true but I could never recommend this company. No customer service!

Robert and Chris were absolutely amazing and provided more help and assistance than I could have hoped for. They handled my belongings with care and respect and I would recommend them to anyone. Outstanding from start to finish. We contacted American Relocation to see if they could help us move. They were fast and very accurate with their initial estimate and the customer service was top notch.
My move scheduled with American Relocation LLC, constituted for 3 men for 3 hours for a total of $424. It was essentially a local move (5.5 miles) for goods weighing around 2100 lbs. Three men did arrive at my residence for the move, but one of them was an aged person (looked over 60 years with white hair) who did 'NOTHING' but just sit on a chair in the truck and wait for the other two men to bring in the goods. I was eventually charged $689.49 for three men who completed the entire move in 4.5 hours. This amount also included a forceful tip of $60. The only mover (in fact the lead mover - Alex) who spoke English pushed me for providing a positive feedback and an equally divided tip for all three men. This was a completely distasteful experience for me and I just did as asked at that moment. A word of caution for everyone who may want to indulge with this company for their move.

Charged us for a long carry which was ok, but they had to walk with a small foot guy and charged us per step he took because they didn t have a measuring tape. Refused to charge us the correct amount even though I did come up with the correct figure. They moved fast but that just left a sour taste in my mouth.
Do NOT ever use this company. They will provide numerous quotes and will charge you a completely different amount. They will also send someone to your house to intimidate and threaten physical harm to you while also claiming to charge you double the amount. Extremely poor customer service, very unprofessional and down right dirty. This company needs to be shut down.
