Keep going back to this Pub, so that alone must say something. Walk in and the atmosphere is that of a happy place.
The pub is well kept and so is the beer, the food is what you'd expect from a Pub along the Thames and the portion sizes are decent too, so no empty bellies as you leave.
There's plenty of pub to explore from the almost basement to the Terrace up top and if you are up top the there's songs from the buskers down in the street and it just adds to the pleasure of being at this pub.
So go in, grab a beer and some pub grub and make a few memories with family and friends.
So keep up the good work in this pub and I'll see you next time when I'm out for a stroll along the banks of the Thames.

If you're visiting London and want to experience a PROPER old English pub then go to The Anchor on Southbank. It's a real boozer serving real beer on hand pumps, warm and bitter like it should be. This pub is a maze of books, crannies, alcoves and split level areas for drinking and eating throughout a day long session.

Nice pub on the bank of the Thames. Nice feel to the place, can imagine a decent atmosphere here on evenings and weekends. Staff could be a bit more merry, other than that no complaints. Food that was served looked pretty appetising too.

The staff makes you feel uncomfortable like you are annoying them. Also they were speaking between them and ignored us when we try to order.

Nice big, traditional looking pub on the banks of the Thames. Got very busy on a Friday night (normal) and bar service became a bit disorganized and very slow. Have quite good fish and chips.

This is a touristy place. I usually come here with people form out of town. It sits right by the Thames between Borough Market and the Tate. I have never eaten here. I think there are better places to go around that area. But this is a interesting place to take tourists to because of its location and decor - circa 1600s?! But if you are a local, this is not the best option for a place to spend a chilled out afternoon. On an weekend you have to fight the crowds to get your drinks.

Drinks were not too expensive and quite ok selection. Unfortunately waiting time was very long, a lot of staff were new (bless them) and even they tried hard it was just too long. My burger was good price but the bun was burnt. Good view from outdoor seating.
There's table service and restroom available.

An ancient English pub (1615), with all the mod cons (WiFi and contactless payments). London bus red windows, floral displays and a golden anchor make for a good looking pub. My wife and I were walking along the Southbank past the Globe Theatre and stopped off for a G&T in the outside seating area while waiting to meet our son for dinner. A pleasant place to kill some time with a drink and views across the Thames.

This is where we have our leaving drinks all the time. The prices are fair for the area. A decent pint. The food is ok too not a bad menu. There s smoking area outside on the roof bit. And they have no issues reserving a table.

The oldest pub in London, very nice inside and typical to be seen from the outside. Very busy every night, it fills both outside and inside. Food and drinks and average prices, pub lovers from here must still pass.

Beer does not have an excessively high price (2 pounds for a pint). You can also use the toilets without consuming.
I recommend entering at least to see the place since it is a curious and typical London place.

Outside seating is nice, even though it had rained all day. There were some areas under cover and there are heaters throughout.

Wine was entertainingly brought in a plastic jug because you can have glass bottles outside.

They offer both the NHS/Serco Track&Trace app check in and their own for customers whose phones aren't compatible with the app. You have to download the Greene King app to order but time between ordering and delivery is very short.

Steak pie was very tasty although the autumn veggies that came with it was mostly just kale.

Decidedly average. Wasn't particularly good to watch the rugby, indeed the volume was turned town to the point you could barely hear the commentary.

Food was average. Chips were undercooked and tasteless, the veggies were bland and anaemic. Steak and ale pie was good but the battered cod had seen better days.

Service was friendly enough and helpful. Loved the building, really quirky and probably good for drinking in only. But for watching live sports or eating, I'd probably go elsewhere.

Expensive, but retains every detail as London's oldest PUB. Frankly I was impressed. We saw the 2015 Rugby World Cup Final and I was really looking forward to returning from then. Not only is it nice inside, but outside it has a kind of pedestrian that overlooks the river. We had a unique night, so it was something unforgettable.

Two stars for the setting and location at the edge of the Thames.
Otherwise this pub is allowed to refuse the world: following a professional meeting, a reservation had been made for twenty people. I admit that we should have booked for more people but the manager refused all the solutions that were suggested to him and 4 of us were forced to go to dinner elsewhere.

I've been here a couple of times and have really enjoyed the ambiance. I've managed to find some farmhouse cider there, along with the more usual Aspall. Lots of places to congregate, multiple levels, even a small ale bar off to one side. They've got a terrace across the way where you can sit and look out over the Thames. Not far at all away from the Borough market or Shakespeare's theatre and provides a convenient spot to stop for a pint when on the way to one or the other.

I left now a year ago but I will not hesitate to go back because the staff are very welcoming. First experience of an English pub and I was not disappointed the meal was very good and I could taste my first pint of English beer ( I did not choose the right beer but I will choose something else next time).

Always great food and music is a guarantee! A lot of rooms on many floors so you can always find a great spot.

A pretty average pub. The location however is amazing, looking out over the Thames. There are many restaurants nearby offering far better food. I d recommend eating elsewhere and reserving this pub for drinking. Particularly in the summer when you can sit outside looking out over the Thames.
