In itself a nice very clean room with a view of the Empire State Building. Unfortunately there was hardly any space to stow the things out of the suitcase and the windows could have been cleaned as well.

Hotel staff was phenomenal with a clear desire to anticipate our questions and proactively take care of them. Rooms were clean with showers having just the right pressure. We could subtly hear the noise of the city, but sleep was into problem.

Stayed 2 nights. They allowed me to check in early at 7am and leave my luggage while I went to meetings all day. Came back at 10pm and my room was ready. Comfortable room, good size and very comfortable bed. Absolutely nothing to say bad about this place. It was a pleasure staying there and close to both Penn Station and Grand Central Terminal. Staff was friendly and helpful. Price was good. You get a lot for what you pay for at this hotel. I wasn't around to partake in the free wine happy hour, but would have liked to try it.

I m very conflicted with this review, so I ll start off with the positive. The location of this hotel is PRIME! Few blocks from Grand Central station, time square, Empire State, Etc... it s in an area that s not too close to all the action where you can t sleep, but close enough for a walk. They even provide ear plugs just in case you feel it s too loud.

Second best part about this hotel is the rooftop bar with amazing views of Empire State Building. Prices are high, but you can expect that from any bar in Manhattan.

The check in was fairly easy, and they were very quick with room service request.

Here s where the review stars start decreasing.

The rooms are super outdated. Carpet looks dirty, and extremely old. Not sure if the fourth floor is where clean up meets, but they are extremely loud in the morning, even with the do not disturb signs on the door.

I took a picture every day for about 3 days of the same food platter laying on the floor, it wasn t moved until the fourth day.

I know this next thing isn t something that hotels are force to do, but we were their for our honeymoon and the hotel didn t do anything special for us. The concierge they promised would get ahold of us, never did. My wife was bummed and disappointed that they didn t even congratulated her or put something in our room. Really ruined our honeymoon, which is why we re doing a second try at the honeymoon.

Like I said, location is prime! However, that s about it.

Wish it would of been different, cause I loved the rooftop and location about this hotel.

Everyone has different experiences, mine was just fairly poor.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel this past weekend. The staff was very friendly and took the time to explain things to me I didn't understand. In comparison to other rooms I've stayed at in New York the bathroom was much roomier.

Reminiscent of a convention hotel gets the job don...

Reminiscent of a convention hotel gets the job done in that you have a room to sleep in, but not much else. First, while rooms are decent in size, but way outdated. The rooms are stuffy and dusty. All the furniture are worn. The bed is not comfortable! I sleep well almost anywhere but had trouble falling asleep. Thermostat is wonky and doesn t actually keep the requested temperature. Barebones amenities no slippers or bathrobe.
Bathroom is okay, but smells like mildew, and hairdryer cord was comically short so you have to dry your hair in a weird position. If you re tall, it won t be fun.
All the staff seem nice enough, but not consistent a male staff bathed into the room saying he had the baby crib, and when I told him I didn t request any, he just walked away without saying anything despite the fact he woke me up from a nap. When I tried to use the business center (it s a joke, just two computers and barely working home printer), the front desk staff said he didn t know how to fix the broken printer. I don t know what to tell you , his words verbatim.
If you go in with low expectations, the place will be okay. But there will be better places for sure.

It's a standard 3 to 4 star hotel in mid town Manhattan. Don't expect too much. Simple straight forward service, rooms are decent size, toilets are small. Basic tea coffee making in room plus a sink. My room didn't have any view. Heating was bad but they provided a stand alone heater. A little extra is 10 dollar you can spend on a small corner in the lobby which gets you a Pringles small pack and a bottle of water. Showers are slow and room appears a bit worn out. I will only be tempted to stay if I can't find sub 300 dollars a night at a better place.

Confusing billing, hold not released

Confusing billing, hold not released
I was told by their staff via email that the payment will be deducted from my credit card two days before (5 May 2019), but it wasn't done. When I checked in (7 May 2019), I expressed the willingness to make upfront payment as I would like to avoid any issues with credit card limit when I check out. However the lady who managed my check in did not want to accept up front payment and instead took a $1000 hold on my card.
Two nights later (9 May 2019), I approached another staff who helped with reorganising my bill and processed my payment for the stay. He told me that the hold has been released and if there is any issues, I should check with my bank instead. One week later, after leaving US (17 May 2019), I did a check with my bank, and the bank told me that the money is still held by the merchant (Shelburne Hotel & Suites).
When I checked out (13 May 2019), I double checked for the hold amount and whether or not it has been released with the front desk staff. It was another lady, and she told me that my hold was $250 and it will be released. Clearly, there is a series of inconsistencies with regards to my billing and I was told very clearly that my hold is $1000 and not $250.

$35 'Hotel Facilities Fee' is uncalled for
All guest had to pay a $35 daily for a 'Hotel Facilities Fee' and this includes all day access to their 'bar'. We are entitled to $10 worth of goods from the bar and anything more than that is chargeable. The bar is filled with boxes cereals (Valued at around $4.40/ box), milk ($4.40 too), some chocolates, some beers and water. A 1.5litre mineral water is valued at a cost of around $10 too. This $10 credit will be forfeited if it is not utilised by the end of the day. Items in the bar is clearly overpriced and does not justify the $35 daily fee.

Also, the (same) lady who checked me in (7 May 2019) did not notify me of any facilities within the hotel, and it is definitely not pleasant to hear about it from another staff, much later during my stay, who is introducing the hotel facilities to another guest who have just checked in.
Moreover, the other lady at the check in counter was also rude to me when I requested for an electric kettle to be placed in my room (This took place on 7 May 2019, when I checked in, as well).

Nonetheless, the room is big, clean and well maintained. The location is great too! It would be a much pleasant stay If not for the problems with regards to my billing, and the exorbitant daily hotel fee.

Front desk staff were not very friendly and seemed to not know what they were doing. And their free WiFi is a joke, speeds were rarely 2 mbps. Not exactly what I would have expected for the price. The room was nice, though.

I stayed overnight at the hotel and emerged with about 15 bedbug bites on my eyelid, forehead, fingers, chest, and arms. Had to hot-wash everything immediately when I got home in case I brought the bugs home. My eyelid and fingers swelled and I felt embarrassed to go outside. I called the hotel and told them about the incident on Saturday. Today the travel manager at my company called Ecker, the manager I spoke with, to follow up on what they are doing to take care of the problem. It's been six days since I stayed there and the hotel apparently still didn't get a terminator to inspect and clean the room completely. It tells you how much they care about the problem.

We stayed here for 7 nights at the end of March 2017. The hotel is in a great location for tourists, an easy walk to many major sights and subway stations to get around the city. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette, but no plates or cutlery provided so it's a little useless unless you ask. The room was a decent size, larger than the average UK hotel room with a comfortable bed that could easily sleep 4. The rooms aren't individually air conditioned but we were able to temperature regulate by opening the windows. Very friendly staff and the rooms were kept to a good standard.

Did not enjoy my stay here for several reasons: 1. There s little air circulation in the room. When we first entered the room it smelt weird and the room temperature was 80F. It took us about 10 mins to figure out how the air conditioning work and when we finally turned it on it was horribly loud. 2. The hotel charges $35.00 facility fee per night, allegedly for water and WiFi. First of all the complimentary water are not in the room and we didn t know about it until we went downstairs and asked the front desk. Then they told you you can get one bottle per day at the mini fridge in a corner of the lobby. How was I supposed to know that without anyone mentioning anything when we checked in? Second we can t reach the WiFi signal in our room but only in the lobby, what kinda WiFi service is that?? When we checked out we were notified of the $35 fee and when my friend questioned the WiFi service apparently it irritates the front desk lady, who gave us an angry look and said that we have to pay regardless. 3. The hotel room was small and seems old, the lighting in the room was bad and the elevator was really slow.

Overall it does not meet my expectation of a boutique four star hotel and I most definitely regards staying here and paying for over $250 a night (and $35 facilities fee per night).

The stuff are super helpful and nice! David provided my family upgrades and warm welcome. The bed is so soft and comfortable. They provided free printing service, and free wine reception during 5-7pm. When I was rush to catch the train, they prepared my reserved luggage before i arrive to save time. The stuff was also nice to carry my luggage in the car in the heavy raining day! Thank you! I have a great time :)

Although not a modern hotel, facilities are good, staff very friendly and helpful and room was big. Large comfortable bed and room was clean and fresh. Wine tasting in the lobby each day around 5pm.
Their restaurant food looked good although we ate at Sage's diner just a few minutes walk away for the traditional breakfast diner experience.
Yes I would recommend this hotel as good value, good location and good service.

Nice place but pricey and rediculus resort fee with rediculus pantry credit of way over priced items. The rooms are clean, courteous staff and nice reception area. I chose this place many times for my specific needs. Bonus is they allow pets.

Lots of small nit picky things, but they start adding up.

We arrived at 2:50pm and tried to check in, was told our room wasn't ready. OK, the fine print does say 3pm. They told us to check back at 3pm. So we waited in the lobby until 3 and was told it still wasn't ready, but don't worry, they will come find us in the lobby. We waited another 30 minutes then finally went back up to the front desk where they gave us the keycard immediately. I guess they forgot to tell us in the lobby after all? Several other couples came in after us and checked in before us, so maybe we were being punished for getting our reservation on a deals website.

The room was nice. Bed clean and comfortable. I did see some weird hairs on the wall in the bathroom, though. See photo.

Coffee in the room was a "two cup" coffee maker but they only gave one single cup for it. Also, no creamer (dairy or otherwise) in the coffee supplies or the mini fridge.

I asked for a foam pillow (they advertise it in their "Pillow Menu") only to be told they were out. I was then offered a "regular pillow". I mean, the bed already had regular pillows. The hotel should probably buy a few extra.

They did give us a few free snacks and water bottles from the lobby store. They also pour wine from 5-6pm in the lobby but it gets VERY crowded very fast.

This place is fine to lay your head but don't expect top-level service.
