This was my 2nd visit to the Shelburne and the first time was wonderful, this time however I had an issue with credit card security. After I checked out of the hotel they kept my card on the room and the guests after me were able to charge their food and alcohol to my card! When I realized there were charges and I called to speak to a manager at 12 in the afternoon it took 6 hours to get a call back. I then spoke with David Ortiz the manager who accused me and/or my guest of making these charges before checking and seeing that I had actually been checked out of the room and it was NOT supposed to be put on my card. I find it distasteful to accuse your guests and not be understanding when someone's now short on money they did not spend. As a single mother trying to have a night out, I like to know that when I give my credit card information to an establishment that my information is safe and my money will not be toyed with. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel after this incident and lack of sympathy on the hotel managements part. Accidents happen but to be nasty about it is really upsetting. Perhaps some sensitivity training is due for management team.

I stayed here for 6 weeks. I'm not sure why it is listed as a luxury hotel, I'd classify it as upscale, but definitely not luxury like Ritz Carlton. It's more than basic though. There is a Rare Steakhouse downstairs, which I ate at far too many times. It is a close walk to offices in Midtown East. Overall, a pleasant place. Oh, and they have a pillow menu, which is pretty neat, at no extra cost. And free wine for guests in the afternoon.

The hotel is fabulous. The staff is friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and looks nice. The rooms are spacious or less. They offer free wine to their guests for one hour every day, which is a nice perk.
My one minor complaint are the beds and pillows. The bed is nice but it's obviously used in sinks in the middle. And the pillows we requested from the special pillow menu (how awesome!) were worn out. We got memory foam pillows but they seem to have the memory of every guest that has come before us because they were fffflat.
That minor complaint aside this was a five-star experience

I paid extra for the premium room, which are supposed to be quiet. However, even though the hotel is near empty, they stuck another room full of partiers who checked in late and did not go to sleep until 4a. Subsequently, I did not sleep a wink either, completely defeating the purpose of my staying in the city before a 12 hour work day. Sure the room is fine. But if the staff lacks common sense, then the "premiun: stay is still underwhelming.

Not bad
