The location is ideal with the mall right behind it, the Light Rail and Path Station just steps away and a short walking distance from the Jersey City Waterfront! Our room was clean and the staff was accommodating. When visiting my old home- New Jersey- this is one of my favorite hotels- mostly because of the convenient location, my daughter loves the indoor pool and surrounded by decent shops and restaurants.

We spent our Valentine s 2019 here. He booked the King suite. The only available was the 15th floor. There were 23 floors. We didn t have time to go far away, so he tried to find the closest place with a view. The view of the room was pretty. The city was like a panoramic view. The bath tub with the city view was relaxing. I put 3 stars because the food was terrible. We ordered ribs, wings, spinach dip, penne pasta and brownie with ice cream. In the morning, we got bagels, corned beef hash, the eggs with bacon and hash. The only food that tasted good was the wings and the rest were either very salty or they tasted like microwaved. The customer service and room service were good. But I was expecting good food. If I wasn t tired, we would have eaten in a real restaurant. 1 star less because people were smoking weed inside the hotel. They should be aware of those kind of people. It was disturbing. Good thing was we were about to leave.

With one exception when we wanted to pay for breakfast instead of charging it to the room, we were pleasantly surprised with the excellent service and amiable care we experienced. From start to finish our 3 nights here were comfortable, enjoyable, food was delicious - including gluten free menus even at the restaurant - the level of awareness of environmental/green attitude and follow through. The room smelled fresh, not like many hotel rooms which can have a used up air smell (I am extremely sensitive to smell) and of course the aromatherapy in the lobby was delightful. We will come back here to stay, especially as it was easy to get around by car, instead of staying in Manhattan, the PATH train a short walk away from the hotel. Thank you!

I ve been staying at this hotel for years. I ve always had a completely positive experience up until my past stay. I was meeting my friends for my birthday (I booked the room they just beat me there) and a rude lady would not let us even 10 steps onto the property without a key but let everyone else past. My friend came down to meet us with key and hand and the rude woman let us through and then we are stopped again! A rude nasty man (short, old, Hispanic) told us they do not allow parties like I am new here or something. I said what makes you think that? He said your friends came in earlier with balloons. So you watched them and didn t nicely approach them for hours? My friends were surprising me by decorating the room for my birthday. This nasty man immediately ruined my mood not knowing I have stayed there for several free nights in the past years. Without him my stay would ve been phenomenal. Angela from the restaurant was superb! However you can t be black and do anything these days without someone trying to judge you. I was too embarrassed to ask to speak with a manager but I hope someone sees this and deals with him! It was Saturday at around 6:00pm that I walked in. Such a shame I won t be coming back!

Our arrival was fairly standard with no surprises. The check-in area was decorated nicely for the holidays and the staff were pleasant enough. Our room however, which was supposed to be a Junior Suite with a City View, was on the 4th floor with a window overlooking the building across the street. Between that disappointment and finding the previous guest's trash (which contained personal identifying information) I've had to subtract 1 star. Overall I would probably stay here again but request a room on a much higher floor.

I am attending as part of a large group for Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The rooms in the hotel are very clean, and thankfully are not 'hotel ugly' like many larger hotels tend to be. The provided breakfast for the group is fairly decent, though I cannot say whether this is the work of the hotel or a separate caterer. My only complaint is that with only 4 elevators (that I am aware of, at least), it can be a hassle for our (very large) group to get in and out of our rooms, although this is likely not an issue for the average guests.

Spacious rooms, and the staff are super friendly. The breakfast was decent, very trendy fare. Expect to spend a premium for your meal. Then again, you would already expect that, wouldn't you?

Only went here for a seminar. The place looks very nice and comfy. Parked downstairs at the shared parking lot and it was a standard rate. Conveniently located in downtown Jersey city.

The rooms were clean and good. However, when I called the service desk for assistance (for internet issues, checkout planning etc), they spoke in an extremely rude tone each time. That was very unbecoming. For a 4-star hotel, I'd call it a serious lapse in customer experience.

This was a great place to stay. All of the people there are very friendly and they have great security. Very clean rooms and very good beds to sleep in. The view of New York is great on one side of the building. Also has a great view of the Hudson river.

I thought this was a nonsmoking hotel? Confused because my neighbors were smoking cigarettes and weed throughout my entire stay. Either that, or prices must be extremely cheap due to covid. Security said they couldn't determine which room it was coming from because the smell filled the entire hallway.

Im not sure if they have remodelled the place since we came 2 years ago, but it looked very elegant this time. We took the train to NY and moved through metro. That cancels the extra payment for parking at the Westin. The room set up was so beautiful. The pool concerned me the first night, cause there was grime in the corners from the foam in the jacuzzi. The next morning, it was clean as a whistle. Housekeeping came everyday (which in some hotels, they don't). I had an edible arrangement arrive for my husband, and they stored it well, till I picked it up. Everyone had smiles on their faces. The only mishap was when we ordered a parfait at night, it was $18! And the person who brought it, simply stated "Can I come in?" And pushed past my husband to set it down. Thankfully i was in the bathroom, or else it would have been an uncomfortable situation. I give it 5 stars because no one was being unreasonable, and the place was so neat and tidy, it had class. Definitely will stay there again.

NY City Sights Tour

NY City Sights Tour
We stayed at "The Westin Jersey City Newport" a week before Easter for a total of 5 nights to see the highlights of New York.
We chose the Westin in New Jersey because it's only separated from Manhattan by the Hudson River. In retrospect, a good inexpensive alternative to the expensive hotels in Manhattan. The hotel is located in Jersey City's waterfront financial district and just a few minutes subway from Times Square. The Newport subway to Manhattan costs $ 1.75 (PATH stop Pavonia / Newport and is one block from the hotel. We recommend a Metrocard).

Also just a few 100 m from the hotel is the Newport Center Mall with over 100,000 square meters, where you can satisfy small or large appetites very cheaply and easily. Outside the hotel (only a few 100m) we had a breathtaking view of the skyscrapers of New York and the Hudson River with its many ships / ferries. In the evening you can take a stroll on the Hudson River promenade, take in the ambience of the Newport marina, or take the PATH train (it is only one stop) to stroll to beautiful Hoboken.

The hotel also offers a free shuttle service to destinations in the vicinity.
For breakfast we recommend the coffee shop in the hotel lobby, the v. G. Shopping center (but only open from 10:00 a.m.), or downtown Manhattan with its many options.

In summary, it can be stated that with our experience today, we would prefer Manhattan directly, which is simply closer to the sights. But if you want more peace in the evening and want to experience the New Yorkers in the subway during the rush hours , the Westin Jersey City Newport is in very good hands.
We didn't like the fact that we couldn't see the Manhattan skyline from the hotel, because between and on the opposite side of the street (towards the Hudson River and Manhattan) a very large skyscraper blocked the view.

I arrived at night. The lobby was expansive and dimly lit. Overall, I enjoyed the mood the design conveyed. Some of the pieces of art were a bit peculiar. There was one piece that simply consisted of what looked like 4 black splotches on a huge white canvas. Anyway, after my mom was done with using the bathroom, we left

Stayed here for a night due to a wedding that was to be held close by. Had a good experience at check-in, the lady at the front desk upgraded us to a room on the top floor, without us needing to request one.

The room itself was fine, large, good views and quiet. One slight problem with the water in the bathroom sink was it sometimes took a little time to get warm water coming out of the hot water tap.

As with all Westins there were no slippers, which I kind of expect at most 4* hotels.

The staff were friendly. There's a nice walk along the Jersey City shoreline with great views of Manhattan only a few minutes walk away. There's a PATH station 5 minutes walk away as well as the JC light railway.

There's also a large shopping mall practically next door to the hotel too, should you need some retail therapy.

I'm a gold member of SPG group but won't recommend this hotel if you have high expectations. Overall service is not good. The worst part is - they won't have evening turn down service. Front desk staff is not much cooperative. Even though I'm a gold member and they have extra rooms available but they won't allow me late checkout after 1 pm. Location is nice as it's near to New Port PATH station.

Parking was a little difficult to find. Could've done with more/bigger signs. Other than that, was pretty good! Friendly check in staff, room was clean (other than they forgot to clean the coffee maker. There was water and grind left over inside the machine from before.) lighting inside the bathroom was good, shower water pressure was good as well!

the perfect stay! luxurious rooms, friendly staff, outstanding views over manhattan! take the path train and within in minutes you are downtown manhattan, Newport itself is a very very nice district, love it.

Excellent hotel. Service of the staff is tremendous. Great lap pool en hot tub. Property is on walking distance of Newport mall and Newport PATH train station. Great restaurants in the area and you have an amazing view of the New York City skyline.

Nice hotel. Its very close to the path station (NEWPORT) for easy access to NYC. For late night food option, there is a chipotle nearby open till 11pm. Westin serves food in-room as well and you have the menu available right inside the room. They provide one complimentary 500 ml water bottle. Other items are charged (FIJI water etc). No microwave available. There is a small refrigerator available though. Perfectly clean and neat rooms! If you are SPG reward member (free), you get complimentary WiFi. Its close to the waterfront (Jersey City Board Walk) and evening would be best to go there.

Highly Recommend!

Stayed here for Thanksgiving with my girlfriend. Great service very clean and welcoming and the security staff made us feel very safe. Honestly out of all the places I stayed in Westin was the best!

Nice hotel very confortable. Location is good, close to the path train. A wonderful 20m indoor swimming pool. Only down side, no breakfast buffet. What they call a buffet is not what we call a buffet in Europe.

They are one of the better kept westins around. It suffices even tho a bit dated in some areas nothing too problematic though. The prices could be easier on the wallet but it is conveniently located near the path train for a quick trip to manhattan. There's a mall and shops nearby. Area is clean and safe

Wonderful stay. Quite. Great steak house on site called Fire & Oak with reasonably priced good food. Parking garage is next to hotel so you have to walk about 5 -10 minutes to the garbage and then wait for an elevator or take the stairs. That was a bit or a pain. Great views of downtown Manhattan if it's not foggy. Overall great 5 star experience. Con... $45 for two drinks at the bar.

I attended a one-day professional conference held at The Westin. The facilities were good, but the mandatory hotel catering for the breakfast and lunch could have been better. The breakfast was just a cold breakfast with some coffee and tea. The lunch was supposed to be a 3 course meal with salad, the main course, and dessert. The salad was not taken away early enough, and consequently the dessert was not served. This was made up for by serving dessert during the closing ceremony instead. The vegetarian option for lunch was just vegetables on rice and we received some complaints from our vegetarian attendees. Otherwise, the conference went smoothly. My experience as a guest was much better. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar was comfortable with plenty of sitting area for a group. The bartenders were very friendly as well (shout-out to Rodrigo!). The drinks were alright, but I would not recommend the smoky apple cider. I personally really enjoyed the 5th floor whirlpool and swimming pool. There was a good stock of fresh towels always present and the pool area didn't close until midnight. During my two night stay I visited twice. The gym was decent and even provided earbuds for guests to listen to music. The rooms were good. The showers were nice because there was an overhead rain showerhead as well as a handheld hose showerhead. The large bathroom mirror had a ring light and a magnified makeup mirror to the side, which was a wonderful touch and extremely useful for getting ready. The NJ lightrail is right next to The Westin so every time the train car passed I was able to hear it in the room, but it did not disturb me at night. This hotel is non-smoking and I really appreciate that. Because it is non-smoking, the hotel officially does not provide matches. A small detail I thought was strange was that there were no trash cans near the lobby entrance and the first trash can is as deep as the elevators to the rooms. Overall, my stay was good but the conference meal catering was not satisfactory.

Great
