A premier property for the Marriott brand. Truly one of America s finest hotels.
I had a wonderful stay at this magnificent hotel. The service was superb for both room service and dining service. Rooms are very clean and the hotel is in an area that is great for walking around and looking at the docks and water. I highly recommend having a mini vacation at this hotel.
It was a beautiful location overlooking the harbor. The staff was very friendly. The food at the Latitude restaurant was very good and the breakfast buffet was excellent. My wife was a little underwhelmed by the spa amenities and our room over the ballroom (during a wedding reception) was less than ideal.
Great food and really comfy robes. Service was solid and view was incredible!
This is a once gilded age hotel, that was close to being demolished. Fortunately, it was renovated instead. We had a 4th floor harbor view room, and it was gorgeous. The bathroom was marble, and the bed was luxurious. The grounds are lovely, as well. Portsmouth is a quick drive, if you ever want to leave, as well as a number of historic sites.
We celebrated Valentines Day with some friends; had apps and champagne in their corner room with fantastic views of the setting sun to the west. Dinner in Salt was excellent; however the desert menu left us wanting. Good thing we had macrons from Sweets by Coolwoka of Exeter with us.
Facility was superb; food was topnotch; prices were way out of focus.
The hotel experience was good, but the customer service experience at tha spa may have ruined our stay. My wife was double charged for two massages due to a miscommunication. The spa directors justification to us was that her team couldn't have made a mistake and that we would never believe how dishonest her customers are. Well... I hope some customers read this and avoid their business - after reading other reviews, we were clearly not the first that they took advantage of. The actual spa service was great, but the 30 minutes of arguing with their spa director with absolutely no graciousness or care for the customers position nearly left my wife in tears. Worst spa experience I have personally observed in what should be a relaxing and rewarding experience.
I was there for a post wedding brunch that was fantastic. Held in a beautiful ballroom with excellent views. The service was very good.
I booked a two night stay at the Wentworth to celebrate our wedding anniversary and I wish I had not. As the previous comment mentioned, the front desk receptionist was as cold as a New Hampshire winter, overwhelmed by several parties checking in. When I made our reservation I selected a King Marina view. (North of $650 per night)We checked into our room which had a wonderful view but that s about all that I can say about it. I attempted to close the blinds but one was missing all-together (pic enclosed)There is another drapery that can be raised and lowered with a chain that was similar to lowering a sail on a schooner but much louder, the drapes were very dirty ( pic enclosed) After adjusting the drapes we settled in to watch TV, the TV was frozen on Marriott s commercial channel. I called the front desk and they sent the bellman up and after unplugging the cable a few times he was able to get the TV fixed. The bathroom floor was very moldy (pic included). Due to Coronavirus housekeeping will not service your room unless you stay for three or more nights which is understandable but after having breakfast we returned to our room to find the door unlocked and the deadbolt holding the door open giving access to anyone walking by, a serious safety concern. I spoke with the G.M. Who assured me that these issues would be addressed but surprise, surprise not one issue was addressed. The hotel is seriously short staffed. We actually left on the second evening and drove the hour 1/2 home. I will send a copy of this review to corporate so that they are aware of the problems that exist here. Fairfield Inn would have been a better option.
Expected much more from this place. We stayed in the marina sweet, where there was a broken light fixture in the bathroom causing there to be shards of glass hanging by the mirror. The jacuzzi tub had what appeared to be streaks of blood inside it. management was extremely unprofessional, someone even entered the room without knocking. if you are older I would not recommend staying in one of these suites, the only way to access them is a steep staircase winding through a restaurant dining area. Of course, no one offers to help with luggage. Unfortunately it is not an option to give 0 Stars.
Beautiful location and staff that go above and beyond.
Beautiful property, but not worth the money room had no AC!!! We spent $913.42 for a two night stay this past weekend (as well as $483.80 for a couples massage). At check in, we were handed our room keys and that was it! As a Bonvoy Gold Elite member I am accustomed to the Marriott s protocols. There was no formal greeting and no explanation of what the property has to offer. Our rate included breakfast, but I asked the girl if we needed anything for breakfast and she was confused and had to get a manger. He came and showed her where the coupons were. I then asked where the restaurant and spa were located. The girl was annoyed I had so many questions. Usually, this would be a seamless check-in process and they would have confirmed all of our reservations. When we entered our room, I hoped to find a guide to the hotel, so that we could better inform ourselves as to where the spa, pools, and restaurants were. Unfortunately, there was only a room service menu and general Marriott magazine in the room.
The first night we enjoyed a fantastic dinner and drinks at Latitudes. Luckily, we stumbled upon this restaurant ourselves. We did not even know it was part of the Marriott property. It is across the parking lot. When we returned to our room, we were greeted with no AC. The room was 81 degrees and the windows did not open. We called the front desk and they said they would send an engineer to reset it. The room did cool down for a brief period, but unfortunately, when we returned from our couple s massage the next day there was no AC again and it was even hotter! I called again and the front desk informed me that the engineer would try again, but unfortunately, they could not guarantee it would work and a specialist was coming later in that week. The hotel was completely booked for Memorial Day weekend, so I knew they could not change our room, but they did not even offer different accommodations or even provide a simple apology.
On a positive note, all of the staff at the Wentworth provided five star service including the doorman, hosts, servers, and bartenders (other than check-in lady). The costs of food and drinks on property is reasonable for the quality and level of service. I highly recommend eating at Salt as well! The massage therapists were top notch too!
We ate at Latitudes and then had dessert at Salt. The food was great in both locations. Service was extremely slow at Latitudes, but it seemed to be an anomaly based on what we saw at other tables. The views and decor were nice and we hope to come back and stay soon.
Our stay here was unsatisfactory, for the amount of money we spend it qas totally not worth it. No room service, no cleaning, no restaurant. Do not go!
Fabulously decorated historic inn that has scrumptious food - especially the Christmas Day buffet! The seasonal decorations around the building makes the inn look so festive. The staff is super nice too. This hotel also allows pets, and the ones I've seen have been well behaved.
In the warm weather there are tennis courts to play on.
Disgusting, non edible food at the outdoor restaurant. Even after I ate nothing and told the waitress she still charged me. Stay away
Took my wife to Salt for dinner to celebrate her birthday. The restaurant is classy and the food was incredible. My wife particularly loved the lobster bisque. Definitely recommend.
Attended for a wedding, beautiful venue, excellent service, great food. A night to remember!
Gone downhill in my opinion. Went for Christmas day and night. No entertainment, no holiday feel at all. Dinner service painfully slow with inexperienced server. Room just ok. Not a great experience. Will find another place to stay for Christmas - done with the Wentworth.
We enjoyed our experience very much, some of the challenges included.
1. Ability to get to the Marina Suites
2. Needed parking
3. More choices for food
Beautiful property
Nice place and historical, however the rooms are in need of a major remodel. Staff did a poor job at check in and took more than an hour and a half to get into our room.
Beautiful location and turn of the century hotel. Excellent dining and comfortable rooms with great views. Worth a visit
Gorgeous hotel and property here. We eat at the Salt bar and restaurant often and it's always great.
Had a terrible experience as a wedding guest. I was carded at the start of cocktail hour (I'm 28) and didn't have my ID on me because I was carrying a small clutch. Although I was able to produce digital photos of both my passport and driver's license, I was forced to go back to my hotel (35 mins round trip) to get my ID. When I came back, I showed my ID to the manager but was still carded several more times throughout the evening. I get that the venue has to abide by the law, but I don't get why I was the only one carded or targeted in such a way when I returned. The staff seems confused and evidently unable to communicate with one another.
The massage I got at the spa was amazing, best I have ever had. One of a kind location and nice property, friendly staff and all around great stay.
Great lunch dockside with awesome food and great look at the boats.
Very disappointed. Took my husband here for his 60th birthday, and booked in advance.I specifically requested a jacquzzi room and a fireplace, and a king size post bed. The only thing we got was a king bed ( not a post bed).I paid top $$ for the weekend and didn't get anything else I requested. I booked a spa for my husband and theydidn't bother suggesting I buy a "special pkg" which included such things as spa visits or dinner. Instead they told me to goto the spa and set it up directly. (I bought the $145. spa visit, but the charge on my debit card turned up as $200.06. for the spa. Then the restaurant had a limited menu and was very expensive Neither my husband or I felt well after eating. The staff is not customer friendly they just focus on making sure they have your payment method regardless of whether or not you get what you asked for. Poor first experience. Don't think I would go back any time soon without absolute confirmation I would get what I requested.
We had a king room on the 2nd floor that was nice, slightly dated.
This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever been to! It's right next to its own marina. The staff is amazing and friendly. The only unfortunate thing is it's kind of car from town, but they have a shuttle! Definitely place to stay
Room itself was okay, was expecting a little bit more with such a price - like sheets that actually fit the mattress and the torn mattress cover, or a bathtub faucet that didn't leak while I'm taking a shower, among other things. The only real highlight that I'll remember happily is the whirlpool.
As always, dinner at Salt is a very pleasant experience.
Service and food is excellent.
The hotel and it's location is wonderful.
Friendly wait staff and beautiful dining area. But a modest amount of meal choices for a fifty-dollar buffet. Not bad, but out of my price range.
Beautiful setting, great service and Restaurant Salt has consistently tasty food!
Our stay at this hotel was great. The people here are very friendly and our buffet breakfast was delicious. We also had a deep tissue massage and that was great also. The views were very nice also. Very happy to visit Wentworth by the Sea!!
Excellent place to stay excellent food little bit pricey for special occasion is worth it
Neat rooms. Decent service. I did not have anything to complain about. The surrounding is beautiful in the summer
We celebrate Thanksgiving every few years here. The buffet they serve is beyond compare. It is expensive, but worth every penny. It is also a beautiful facility.
The suite was filthy... food all over the wall in the kitchen... all the white baseboards were covered in dirt and obviously not cleaned in some time... the fire place was broke and had to call twice for and engineer to light it.... the utensil drawer in the kitchen was broke and would not stay shut... the door in the living room would not close all the way.... the bathroom tiles around the toilets had about a 1/2 inch of dirt/dust built up... and when I complained about it to the night supervisor ( Elena) I was rudely asked what do you want me to do about it? For the rate that was paid she should have come and cleaned it herself. The flatbread was good though thanks Priscilla ... but you did promise us a jacuzzi and the suite didn t have one. Very disappointed
Heated tiles in the bathroom are really nice. Make sure you turn them on, there is a lever under the sink area.
Let me start off by saying that I have never taken the time to post a review but today visiting Wentworth by the Sea for their Thanksgiving Day brunch was by far an amazing experience!! The food and decorations were delightful!! Champaign for days, oysters on the half shell, king crab legs and the deserts, oh the deserts, a true treat for my family and I. But my main reason for the post is the amazing professionalism of the host at the door, he dealt with so much while I was there and I was outraged at how he was treated by multiple parties but all the while he kept his cool and working to get people sat in a very difficult situation. They were a little behind seating (we were there for the last seating) but we understood that a lot of things are out of their control so we waited patiently (we were sat maybe 15 mins after our reservations time) I was just happy to all the employees there taking the time away from their family's to be with us! Unfortunately others were not so understanding and took it out on the hosts who were just trying to keep everyone happy! There was one family that I witness everyone of them yelling and causing a scene with the host but he kept his cool the entire time and tried to deescalate to conversation to no avail. After getting sat I ran into the host and thanked him and apologized for how the other family was treating him and he humbly mentioned that it was ok and thanked me but I had to say something it just wasn't right. This man is an amazing asset to your hotel, I only wish I caught his name! I know he's been there for years as I remember the smiling face from our previous visits and I hope to see him again for years to come!!
A gem in NH. Convenient to boston, just about an hour drive, outside Portsmouth, great indoor and outdoor pools, 8 min drive to the beach
Wonderful hotel. The staff are friendly. The place is clean, beds are cozy. Very charming location even in the off season. Pool was clean and warm enough even in the winter. Hot tub was relaxing. The hotel restaurant was great, good food, good breakfast, good drinks. I will return without question.
The food was great and the server Tiana was perfect
Beautifully restored destination resort with old charming feel. Well appointed guest rooms with modern bathroom amenities and well sound insulated walls too.
Nice area for day trips, culinary exploration and fun pubs close by!
I can t say enough how wonderful the Wentworth By the Sea is. My husband and I have been bringing our children here since they were infants. Every year as summer approaches, my children beg for us to take them back, and the hotel never disappoints. The staff is impeccable, and really impressed us with all of the extra precautions taken to adjust new CoVid standards, which gave me incredible comfort knowing my children would staying with us for a few nights, and that the hotel was 2 steps ahead of any concerns / hesitations I had while planning this trip, which gave me complete peace of mind upon arrival.
We stayed in the marina suites for 5 nights, and when my children joined us for the end of our vacation, we moved to a 2 bedroom suite. The staff at this hotel are completely one step ahead at all times; Brandon Bagley, went above and beyond to make our move as seamless as possible. Calling my personal cell phone to check in to keep us posted on the status of the new room being ready for us (well before normal check in time). He even arranged to have Ben help us with our luggage without even having to ask. Ben had to lug our bags (a lot of bags) up several staircases in 90 degree heat, to store our bags as the room service team rushed to get our new room ready. He did it without pause and a smile on his face the whole time. The bags were placed in our new room, in the 2nd floor bedrooms, exactly where we wanted them (again, without having to ask). Flawless service!
This year we vowed to try to be a little more adventurous exploring other take out / restaurants for food options... but that didn t happen, because every meal we had there, blew our minds with its creativity and freshness. The lobster summer salad from Latitudes is quite simply one of the best meals I have ever eaten. I ordered it at least 3 times. My boys who are the pickiest of eaters, ate more this weekend then they did in a whole week.
To put it simply, if could give this hotel 6 stars, I would! We can t wait to continue this family tradition for many years to come.
l am fortunate to be healthy, privileged to be gainfully employed, and humble in the fact that I have the ability to leave my house and spend some adult time with just my wife (no kids) for a few days during this very trying time in our country. However, I can t help but feel like I was completely ripped off by the Wentworth. I am a lifetime platinum Marriott member, I have stayed at the Wentworth, during normal times, both for business and long weekends away with my family. It is a nice resort. On this trip, due to the Covid Pandemic, I called ahead of the trip 2 times to inquire at the hotel about restrictions, sanitation, and services. After getting comfortable with their cleanliness protocols, and accepting the fact that some of the services would be limited (no indoor pool, dining closing at 9, tough to get reservations for the limited dining) we decided to book anyway. We did 3 nights, not a point redemption, actually paying $1400 for those nights. What they failed to mention is they were going unrestricted to the number of guests the weekend before we arrived after being limited to 50% capacity up until that point. Needless to say, they were not ready to go from 50% to 100% full. The outdoor pool, on the Saturday, had a 2 hour 30 minute wait at 11am to get in. Not reserve seats, but to get in. The workers did the best they could. They were just overwhelmed and there wasn t enough of them. You cannot restrict amenities then fill up the hotel and expect to deliver an experience even remotely close to what was done during normal times. I understand this, but by not disclosing the potential restrictions and the over booking to someone who took the time to call ahead, doing as much legwork as possible, tells me they didn t care and withheld information to benefit the resort without thinking of the guests. I m posting this so you know, The weekend will be crowded, you will be underserved, you will be spending way to much for the limited benefit. It is a great place under normal times, even during the most crowded of trips I ve had here. However, they are not ready, and were not truthful when asked about the potential negatives. I m leaving 2 star review because it s Covid. 1 star experience, but we are all living in crazy times. Buyer be ware, you ve been made aware.
I spent a Friday night in one of the rooms for a wedding. I woke up Saturday, took my rather expensive watch off and put it on the bathroom counter to take a shower, and accidentally left without it. I noticed an hour down the road, and called the hotel. After about 20 calls of voicemails and then taking messages , it is now 4 days later and, wouldn t you know it, they can t find my watch. Don t trust these people as far as you can throw them, you re family spends tens of thousands to have a wedding here and once you re out the door they could care less.
Our room was great! The bed was super comfortable. The hotel is very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Went in to but a gift certificate. Everyone was very helpful and professional.
I went to the Northeast Passage dinner event and had a wonderful time. The staff were wonderful and the food was great.
Beautiful setting and a legacy. Must have Sunday brunches, not somewhere I tend to go otherwise.
Lots of historical memorabilia.....quaint, quiet, just take a walk around the grounds....beautiful
Great place. The beds are like clouds. Breakfast buffet is awesome
Absolutely beautiful! Went for a wedding and everything was 5 stars. Lots of class and character.
Had an amazing time welcoming back a dear friend at Wentworth by the Sea. The grounds are so beautifully manicured. Sure, they have Valet, but for those who are able, Its a stunning walk from the parking lot to the restaurant. We had the fish tacos, and sweet corn/ricotta ravioli. Those Ravioli were out of this world!! Great views, food, Margaritas, and on point staff will definitely be what keeps me coming back. Cheers
Fantastic food and five star hotel experience! Came for a wedding, stayed for the whole weekend. So glad we did.
Been going here for years. It's not cheap but we love it and we love Castle Island in general!
I've been here a couple years a in a row with family. The last time that we went, my makeup bag was riffled through and my brand new face primer was taken. (I had left the room for a few hours and when I came back, the room had been serviced. I went to apply makeup and noticed it was missing. I searched every bag in our room despite my makeup bag having been in the bathroom and could not find it.)
I called the front desk and they said that they would look into it. Later that evening, I checked at the front desk to see if they had done anything--their response was that a staff member would be up to ask me about it. So the next day as we were prepping to check-out, a staff member came to the room and I repeated what I had said to the front desk twice already. I was in contact with the hotel manager (who was less than courteous) for some time after arriving home. He informed me that they interviewed the person who had cleaned my room that day and she said she did not take the item in question. I told him that I was upset that it was missing and that I wanted to be reimbursed because I had JUST purchased the product the day before arriving at the hotel and had only used it twice. He told me that he could only credit the card that was on file for the room (which was not mine).
I called Marriott customer service and got the same answer several times until I told them that this was not acceptable. I was told that they filed a claim for me and that I would be receiving a check in the mail within 6-8 weeks. Almost a year later and I am still waiting for the check...
If you're willing to pay this amount of money for a hotel, you would expect that the rooms would be cleaned and your items left untouched. In fact, it seems as though staff would rather go through your belongings than clean your room (see pictures).
Beautiful property. Nice place for a quick getaway.
Went for a wedding great venue! Food was great and the room was big enough for over a hundred people.
Beautiful scenery and a great stay. Will stay again when in the area.
As a gold member, we still need to pay to get upgraded to an ocean view room that only has a tiny corner of ocean view. The cleaner did not reset the alarm so we got woke up twice in shock in the early morning. Smoke detector is so brightly sparklong at night, coulnt install them in a not so obviouse place? Facilities are getring old, it was a windy night yoi could hear the windows shaking
I live In New Castle and is one of my favorite places to stay even though it's right down the street literally.
Beautiful place and setting. The food was amazing. The prices are expensive, but you get a whole experience and lasting memories.
This hotel is beautiful and the service was amazing
Wonderful hotel along the seacoast, excellent sunday brunch!
